Congratulations, Marc, on your Graduation. And I am glad you made it home through the weather gauntlet. That is a major life event!

This is likely to be (very) old news to most people, but as I was unaware of it I thought I'd ping the list:
the Deryni were written up for the D&D game in Dragon Magazine back in 1983.

Thanks for this. I was not aware of it and much enjoyed reading it.

I am well aware of it. And used it as a reference for many years. I actually have a physical copy of Dragon #78.

Very cool. When I was reading it, I could see a lot of the information and guidance you gave me when I was creating Fiona for our game.

I have used the material in those articles for many years. With some changes of course because of different rules with D&D. Or even adapting them to other systems. Such as this one:

Ah, so that's how Morgan learned about Jedi and wants to be one, because he's read the PDF? Very clever...

I have some old (from the late 80s) Star Wars RPG hardcover rule books. I wrote my name on the inside cover and gave myself the title of Deryni Imperial Jedi Knight.

I think I remember this! Very cool! I was never a D&D player, but back in the Long Ago, when I was a student, I had a job at a bookstore that had a very large gaming section. So I do recall reading Dragon...

Anyone who still has physical copies of the magazine from those days...congratulations!

Interesting article. Thank you for sharing.
I love this quote
"... that healers cannot be evil. Most will be good, but a few will be neutral with respect to good and evil."

So happy to know this. I think this means that having the attribute of "Compassion" is a necessity for having the ability to heal.

The personality traits as described in the Keirsey system would say a person with compassion is an F=Friendly as opposed to other people who are a T=Tough.
I always knew that Alaric was an "F" or a person of compassion, even though he was the general of the Gwynedd army.  He is a leader who cares.

((P.S.  I am not saying that T=tough personalities are evil.  Not in the least. I know a lot of tough personalities who are very good people. Nevertheless. those who have evil traits -antagonists in games and story's- do not share the qualities found in compassion.))
May your horses have wings and fly!

That's based on the alignment system that exists in the Dungeons and Dragons game. All characters and creatures have an alignment based on a 2 axis system of Law vs Chaos and Good vs Evil. Both have Neutral in between them. I'll post more on it later maybe in this thread or maybe in another.
