Demercia and I visited the remains of a 13th century fortified Manor house in the Welsh Borders today. I thought the pictures might be of interest. It was somewhat modernised in the 17th century but otherwise untouched.

Sorry pictures are sideways, no idea why.

the pictures were fascinating. Thanks for posting them. And when I opened them they were right side up. Thanks again for sharing

It's called Stokesay Castle - I don't think anyone has lived there for a couple of centuries at least, though I suspect the gate house ( yellow) has been inhabited longer.

Whoops I didn't realise myself and DH were on the bottom one.

Happy to see you and DH enjoying an outing.

Wow!  Amazing pics, gorgeous place, and I echo DerynifanK; you and DH look lovely in the sun, having a pleasant day!

If I had the physical ability to do it, I'd apply for this job:  https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-cornwall-57076163

So many pretty places to see!
"If having a soul means being able to feel love, loyalty, and gratitude, then animals are better off than a lot of humans."

James Herriot (James Alfred "Alfie" Wight), when a human client asked him if animals have souls.  (I don't remember in which book the story originally appeared.)

I do love these! Thanks for posting them.

From ghoulies and ghosties and long-leggity beasties and things that go bump in the night...good Lord deliver us!

Beautiful! Gotta admit, I'm kinda jealous there are no 700-year-old home to visit around these parts. :)

The last picture is the very best. Handsome couple. Love the outings to places of history.
