[18:06] * KK (49ab39c5@owirc-khp3ee.mibbit.com) has joined
[18:06] <KK> Hello, all.
[18:06] <bynw> hi KK
[18:06] <The_Bee> DFK. I think you've rented your fingers from the same place I did.
[18:06] <The_Bee> Hi KK
[18:06] <derynifank> Hope you will have it soon. Public transportation is hard enough without heavy bags.
[18:06] <derynifank> Hi KK.
[18:07] <derynifank> Bee, will stores in your area deliver>
[18:07] <KK> How goes it in Iowa,  Bynw?
[18:07] <derynifank> Yup, going to have to rent fingers from another place
[18:07] <bynw> my usual cohort, the lovey desertrose, wasn't feeling well so she wont be with us tonight
[18:08] <The_Bee> Some will, but I have a gift card from one I'm not sure of.
[18:08] <bynw> it's nice here now. we had a week in upper 90s last week. very hot and humid ... probably over 100 with the heat index, but now its in the low 80s
[18:08] <derynifank> Sorry to heaar DR isn't feeling well
[18:09] <The_Bee> Is it her usual problem?
[18:09] <KK> Sorry about DR.  Hope she feels better soon.
[18:09] <bynw> Bee, she didn't elaborate on the cause. just that she wasnt feeling well and was going to be lying down
[18:10] * The_Bee sends feel-better woodgies to Desert Rose.
[18:11] <derynifank> Feel better soon DR
[18:12] <The_Bee> KK, have you gotten stuff done that you needed to?
[18:12] <KK> Progress still being made.
[18:13] <The_Bee> You've found your new house?
[18:13] <KK> I think so, if all goes well, timing-wise.
[18:14] <KK> Good news in that the free shredding service is back next month, sponsored by one of the local credit unions.  I'll have a LOT by then.
[18:15] <The_Bee> Here's hoping for good timing.
[18:20] <derynifank> So what kind of house have you found and what kind of timing are we talking about?
[18:20] <KK> Yeah, right now they're in no big hurry to move out, since they're building a new house.  I an mark time easily under those co9nditions.
[18:21] <KK> It's a 3 BR, 2 bath, all on one level--no basement or upstairs.  A little work to do before I could move in, but nothing that will take a great deal of time.
[18:21] <bynw> that sounds like a nice place
[18:22] <The_Bee> Have you commited to buying it?
[18:22] <KK> Blah plushy carpet throughout that will need to be replaced with waterproof flooring.  Nothing in writing yet, Beel.
[18:23] <The_Bee> Have you sold your old place?
[18:23] <KK> Not yet.  Still culling and giving away/selling stuff to get it ready to show.
[18:24] <KK> I do hope to be out by Christmas, though.
[18:24] <Eris> <Jerusha2> Hi Everyone!
[18:24] <KK> Hi, Jerusha.
[18:24] <The_Bee> Hi Jerusha
[18:24] <bynw> hi jerusha
[18:24] <derynifank> Hi Jerusha
[18:25] <The_Bee> My parents just sole their house to the local bank.
[18:25] <KK> It doesn't seem possible that I've now been working on this for a year and a half.
[18:25] <Eris> <Jerusha2> Moving is a lot of work, not to mention selling
[18:25] <KK> Today guys were up on my roof, cleaning gutters.
[18:25] <derynifank> Wow, that's a lot of work
[18:26] <Laurna> Hello eveyone
[18:26] <derynifank> Hi Laurna
[18:26] <Eris> <Jerusha2> Hi Laurna
[18:27] <bynw> hi Laurna
[18:27] <KK> Yeah, but I discovered that damp has been coming through the walls of the back guest BR, to the point that I'll have to have that wall repainted.  It's always something.
[18:27] <Laurna> Cleaning the roof, KK. after all your rain and storms.
[18:27] <KK> It's the gutters, which were far worse clogged than I realized.
[18:27] <The_Bee> Hi Laurna.  How are the puppies?
[18:27] <Laurna> Water damage is tough to take care of
[18:27] <Laurna> The puppies are HUGE
[18:28] <Laurna> and so cute
[18:28] <Eris> <Jerusha2> As you said, it's always something
[18:28] <derynifank> I am getting something called leaf filter which doesn't allow anything but water into the gutters
[18:28] <Eris> <Jerusha2> Please pet the puppies for me
[18:28] <Laurna> That I can do
[18:28] * Laurna petting Sunny and Paddy
[18:28] <Eris> <Jerusha2> gives a wistful sigh
[18:29] <derynifank> Love puppies
[18:29] <KK> Good luck with that.  My gutters had things that look like giant bottle brushes.  Supposed to only let the water through, but if silt and rotted leaves pile up, you still get blocked.
[18:29] <The_Bee> Have all the other puppies gone to their forever homes?
[18:29] <Laurna> When they are not chewing on the corners of my chair
[18:30] <Eris> <Jerusha2> Yep, got a few pieces of furniture with puppy scars
[18:30] <derynifank> These have steel mesh covers that are medical grade so no rusting. No gaps anywhere
[18:30] <bynw> puppies do like to chew on things. usually the more expensive the better it is to chew on
[18:30] <Laurna> Yes  Bee and I keep intouch with the new puppies parents and all is well
[18:30] <KK> But if the mesh gets clogged, you've still got a problem.
[18:30] <Eris> <Jerusha2> No bargain puppy chewing here!
[18:31] <derynifank> They're designed so any clutter gets blown off.
[18:31] <Laurna> chew toys either get stolen by the older dogs or barried somewhere under a bush
[18:31] <Eris> <Jerusha2> Ah, buried treasure!
[18:31] <derynifank> They are rated number one by Consumer reports.
[18:31] <Laurna> hehe
[18:31] <KK> I know that's the theory....
[18:32] <The_Bee> But the wind has to blow.
[18:32] <derynifank> They had good reviews
[18:32] <Laurna> Every fall I have to climb on my roof and sweep the flashings, If i don't the first rain storm brings tones of water into my house.
[18:33] <Eris> <Jerusha2> You climb on your roof?
[18:33] <Laurna> Yay, scary
[18:33] <derynifank> That's not a good idea
[18:33] <Eris> <Jerusha2> Single story, I hope
[18:33] <Laurna> I am a fraid of hieghts, one story is tall enough for me
[18:34] <Eris> <Jerusha2> Me too
[18:34] <KK> No way would I get up on a roof.  Balance is way too wonky.
[18:34] <derynifank> I have reached an age where ladders and rooofs are not an option
[18:34] <Eris> <Jerusha2> sets out lots of bouncy mats for Laurna
[18:35] <The_Bee> I was young I had a fantasy of sleep-walking onto our roof and falling down the chimney.
[18:35] <Laurna> I just dont like going from the top of the ladder to the roof. fortunatly I use the flat patio roof.  Once I am up I am find.
[18:35] <Eris> <Jerusha2> Were you in a Santa Claus disguise?
[18:35] <KK> That isn't a fantasy; it's a nightmare!
[18:35] <Laurna> yikes Bee
[18:35] <derynifank> Only Santa should be in chimneys
[18:36] <The_Bee> It happended when I was awake, so I can't call it a nightmare.
[18:36] <Eris> <Jerusha2> A daymare?
[18:36] <The_Bee> an obsession
[18:37] <KK> brb
[18:38] <Laurna> My sister just purchased this amazing antique oak mantel and columns with beveled mirror above.  it is 8 feet tall and 5 feet wide and we just cleared out the old yucky mantel to put it on.  should be beautiful. comes in this week.
[18:38] <Eris> <Jerusha2> Wow!
[18:38] <derynifank> That sounds gorgeous
[18:38] <bynw> that sounds nice
[18:38] <Laurna> that should spruse up her front fireplace
[18:39] <Eris> <Jerusha2> Mirror, mirror on the wall...  Does it come with a ghost?
[18:39] <The_Bee> Take pics when It's installed.
[18:39] <derynifank> Would love to see it when in place
[18:39] <Laurna> The bricks of the fireplace are old so she does not dare light a fire, but now adays there are so many electirce like fireplaces to  similate that.
[18:39] <Laurna> Will do
[18:40] <Laurna> Juresha  No ghost
[18:40] <KK> back
[18:40] <Eris> <Jerusha2> How old is her house?
[18:40] <Laurna> 1891
[18:40] <The_Bee> WB KK
[18:40] <Eris> <Jerusha2> Wow
[18:40] <Laurna> queen anne style
[18:40] <Eris> <Jerusha2> Mine's 1940s and I thought that was old!
[18:41] <Laurna> lol  Right!  my house is 1977  I think it is old
[18:41] <KK> Cool!  I love old houses, though I"m at the stage in my life where I don't want to take on another one.  Holybrooke and Edge Hill were enough for me.
[18:41] <Eris> <Jerusha2> And often they only have one bathroom!
[18:42] <Laurna> How old was Holybrooke,  1700's or 1800's
[18:42] <bynw> does the potential new place have a name?
[18:42] <Laurna> My sisters has one bathroom on each floor. she just rebuilt the downstares one and it is stunning
[18:42] <KK> Holybrooke is 832-37.
[18:42] <Laurna> WOW
[18:42] <KK> 1832-37.
[18:42] <Eris> <Jerusha2> Oh my, KK!
[18:43] <The_Bee> Now THAT"S Old!
[18:43] <Eris> <Jerusha2> 832 would have been a castle
[18:43] <KK> Yep.  And had old ghosts, too.
[18:43] <Laurna> I heard you say that before.  not sure I could handle that.
[18:43] <The_Bee> You said Scott saw a ghost.  Did you?
[18:44] <KK> They were benign.
[18:44] <KK> He saw them.  I never did, though I occasionally heard them.
[18:44] <Eris> <Jerusha2> I would trade my mouse intruders for a benign ghost
[18:44] <Eris> <Jerusha2> Wait, maybe a ghost cat!
[18:44] <Laurna> Did the people who bought the house from you tell you if they have seen ghosts?
[18:45] <KK> You have mouse intruders?  How about a cat or two?
[18:45] <Eris> <Jerusha2> If DS3 was not allergic to them, we would have a cat
[18:45] <KK> Never saw the new owners once they took possession of the house.
[18:46] <Laurna> just curious
[18:46] <KK> I think the guy we bought the house from was aware of....unusual goings-on.
[18:47] <Laurna> Does that have to be disclosed in the contract. or in Ireland is it just expected of old structures.
[18:48] <Eris> <Angsthase> Ghost dander might be problematic
[18:48] <Eris> <Jerusha2> Tee hee at the contract.  "Included is one benign ghost - not negotiable"
[18:48] <Laurna> lol
[18:48] <KK> I think the folks who write the rules tend not to be particularly sensitive to such things.
[18:49] <The_Bee> Are Celtic folks especially prone to hauntings?
[18:50] <KK> I think Celtic folk believe in such things, and therefore are more aware of them.
[18:52] <The_Bee> It your mind is closed to the possibility of ghosts, you won't see them even if they're there.
[18:52] <The_Bee> If
[18:53] <KK> For the most part, I think that's true.
[18:53] <Eris> <Jerusha2> "If you don't believe in magic, you will never see it"
[18:53] <Laurna> My dear brother-in-law loves all things Scottish and wants to stay in a caslte there on vacation. and then I tease him about ghosts and he screams"Oh no you don't Dont ruin it for me."   I just laugh
[18:53] <KK> Brb.  The washer is making odd noises.
[18:53] <Laurna> I think casles just have to have a ghost or two
[18:54] <Laurna> Out of balance
[18:54] <derynifank> Or a ghost
[18:54] <Eris> <Jerusha2> Chains rattle.  "Would you like a cup of mead, my Lord?"
[18:54] <Laurna> LOL
[18:55] <The_Bee> Laurna, is your BIL hoping to see one or afraid ?
[18:55] <Eris> <Jerusha2> I might run screaming. Not because of the ghost, but because of the mead.
[18:55] <Laurna> Never, ever wants to see one.
[18:55] <Laurna> hehe
[18:55] <The_Bee> Jerusha, are you afraid of mead?
[18:56] <Eris> <Jerusha2> Not fond of sweet drinks.
[18:56] <Eris> <Jerusha2> Understand the Welsh tradition, but EWW.
[18:56] <The_Bee> Sam Wise used to make mead.  Maybestill does.
[18:57] <Laurna> A month ago I did some laudry. when it was finish Ifound the laundry machine completely turned around. backwards.  i nearly freaked out.  then when I did the next loud of landry I watched it. and the washing basket was so out of balance that it danced the machine a few centimeters at every spine.
[18:57] <bynw> Sam made some great mead
[18:58] <Eris> <Jerusha2> Sounds like the Exorcist
[18:58] <The_Bee> Did rearranging the clothes help?
[18:58] <Laurna> Revanne says mead does not been to be that sweet.  but I have never tried it.
[18:58] <Laurna> Fixing the washing machine helped.  something was bent
[18:58] <bynw> Laurna, washers will do that if they arent balanced
[18:58] <Eris> <Jerusha2> I would have to experiment with a very small sip
[18:59] * The_Bee likes sweet wine.
[18:59] <Eris> <Jerusha2> Nope, not me
[18:59] <Laurna> I like fuity wine
[18:59] <Eris> <Angsthase> Alcohol is converted from sugars, so the higher the alcohol content, the less sweet it should be?
[18:59] <The_Bee> To each her own
[19:00] <bynw> KK. are we good for Zoom on labor day Sunday (next Sunday the 6th)?
[19:00] <The_Bee> no idea, Angsthase
[19:00] <Eris> <Angsthase> sorry
[19:01] <Laurna> long weekend coming up.  To me it is all the same. Retirement = no time obligations. Love it.
[19:01] <Eris> <Jerusha2> Yepper!
[19:01] <KK> Don't you love it when the washer gets out of balance and you have to go shift soggy sheets?
[19:01] <The_Bee> ZOOM 3pm Sept 6?
[19:01] <Laurna> Yep KK.
[19:01] <Eris> <Jerusha2> Nope, KK; do not like that at all!
[19:02] <KK> And Bynw, we need oy move move the zoom meeting to two weeks from today.  I'
[19:02] <The_Bee> OH?  Plans for next week?

[19:03] <bynw> we can do that :)  so on the 13th instead

[19:05] <KK> Ah.  I've not seen any of Virginia coast.
[19:05] <Laurna> than it should be a good experience.  are you driving?
[19:05] <derynifank> Make sure you see Fort Monroe
[19:06] <KK> I'm not driving.  A friend is.  I'm just along for the ride.
[19:06] <Laurna> even better
[19:06] <KK> Yep.
[19:07] <derynifank> Nite. Have a good week all

[19:07] * derynifank has quit (Quit: https://mibbit.com Online IRC Client)
[19:09] <KK> I think I'll check out too.  It's been a long weekend, and week.
[19:09] <Eris> <Jerusha2> Hope this week is good for you, KK
[19:09] <KK> See you all (and I mean <see>) in two weeks.
[19:09] <Eris> <Jerusha2> Nighters, KK
[19:09] <Laurna> KK, I have to brag a little bit. Our writing game team just wrote the most fantastic ritual for our characteers.  we took elements from Saint Camber and from Harrowing and it really made me want to cry. Revanne, jerusha and DerynfanK wrote a wonderful scene
[19:09] <The_Bee> Thanks for coming, KK.  Enjoy your escursion and your friends' company.
[19:09] <Laurna> Good Night KK
[19:09] * KK steps onto her Portal, waves goodnight, and disappears in a shower of green sparkles.
[19:09] <bynw> thanks for coming. have a fun trip
[19:10] <KK> Laurna, I'd like to see that.  :-)
[19:10] <Eris> <Jerusha2> You did your part too, Laurna
[19:10] <KK> Ta for now, and God bless.
[19:10] <Laurna> It was a good team effort
