KK Chat - March 3, 2002, pt. 1

[17:32] *** KK has joined #Deryni_Destinations
[17:32] <Sedina> Hi Katherine
[17:32] *** Bynw sets mode: +o KK
[17:32] <jm> Hi Katherine
[17:32] * scribbler sends greetings to KK
[17:32] <Majorsprop> so from reading the ng I understand that Codex2 is on hold until the big publisher can be talked into doing it and the private printing is off?
[17:32] <Martine> Hi katherine!
[17:32] <KK> Hello, all.
[17:32] <Rebecca> Hi Katherine
[17:32] <Majorsprop> Hi Katherine
[17:32] <scribbler> Hi KK, missed you yesterday....
[17:32] <Ghostgames> Welcome, Katherine!
[17:32] <leslie> Hiya KK!
[17:32] <Bynw> Hiyas KK!
[17:32] <Jessie> hello Katherine
[17:32] <scribbler> Oops -- mean last week....
[17:32] <Rebecca> that's correct, majorprop
[17:32] <Gamgee> Hello KK!
[17:33] * scribbler is having WAY too much trouble with dates and times lately....
[17:33] <Majorsprop> so there is hope!
[17:33] <KK> Yes, Maj, but we're doing a Codex Supplement through DA.  Jessie is sheepdogging it--and admirably, too.
[17:33] <scribbler> I was just mentioning that I saw Gandalf yesterday....
[17:33] *** hygilac has joined #Deryni_Destinations
[17:33] <Sedina> Hi Linda
[17:33] <Martine> Hi Linda!
[17:33] <Rebecca> hi linda
[17:33] <Bynw> hiyas linda
[17:33] * scribbler sends greetings to hygilac
[17:33] <hygilac> Hi Sedina
[17:34] <leslie> hi Hygilac
[17:34] <hygilac> and everyone else
[17:34] <hygilac> Hi Katherine
[17:34] <Jessie> hello hygilac
[17:34] <KK> Jessie, I have some answers for you--not all, but some--and will e-mail you later tonight, after I leave chat.  Or maybe in the AM.
[17:34] <Jessie> thanks
[17:34] <Martine> Katherine, I'll have version 2 of the great hall off to you before the day is over.
[17:34] <Martine> Thanks for your corrections!
[17:34] <KK> Martine, how's your wonderful room plan of the great hall coming along?
[17:35] <KK> You answered while I was asking.
[17:35] *** virtualbabe has joined #Deryni_Destinations
[17:35] <Martine> LOL!
[17:35] * scribbler sends greetings to virtualbabe
[17:35] <Sedina> HI vb
[17:35] <Martine> I've become Deryni! Cool!
[17:35] <leslie> hi virtualbabe
[17:35] <KK> You've really got a good handle on it!
[17:35] <Martine> I'm reading minds across the Atlantic!
[17:35] <Bynw> hiyas vb
[17:35] <scribbler> LOL
[17:35] <Jessie> hello VB
[17:35] <jm> hi VB
[17:35] <KK> You are, indeed.
[17:35] <hygilac> Hi VB
[17:35] *** Bynw is now known as Bynw|Tika
[17:35] <Martine> Well, my castle architecture library has only 15 books. I had a *few* examples to draw from <G>
[17:35] <Ghostgames> KK: I've just conscripted Martine to do St George's Cathedral and the archbishop's estate, as well. :-)
[17:35] <virtualbabe> good afternoon all.
[17:35] <scribbler> Bynw|Tika? Sounds a little tricky....
[17:35] <hygilac> HI Bynw\Tika
[17:36] <KK> A good recruit!
[17:36] <Martine> And that's not even getting into the monastic and church architecture selection...
[17:36] <KK> She's very good.
[17:36] <Martine> Thank you!
[17:36] <Bynw|Tika> LOL ... well we are both sitting at the puter right now
[17:36] * scribbler wonders if Martine should burn her draft card.......
[17:36] <KK> One on the other's lap?
[17:36] <Sedina> Martine - you're getting yourself into more trouble?  *l*  How many projects is that now?  :)
[17:36] <Martine> Probably! ;-)
[17:36] <scribbler> Well, they ARE newlyweds, after all....
[17:36] * Bynw|Tika thinks that maybe Martine could design a castle that Bynw could use in his D&D games
[17:36] <Martine> Oh, I'll have to drop one or two projects
[17:36] <Jessie> doesn't that push you over the 29,999 projects Martine?
[17:37] <Majorsprop> KK, I read your St Patrick's Gargoyle this week and I have to say I really liked it especially the cat. Any cat you know?
[17:37] <Bynw|Tika> KK, just basically side by side
[17:37] <Sedina> Just so long as the kilt project isn't one of them, Martine!
[17:37] <KK> It probably does.
[17:37] <Martine> But I promise I *won't* drop the "Sedina Gets a Kilt" story. I'm afraid you'll kill me if I do!
[17:37] <Sedina> LOL
[17:37] <scribbler> My Mark has just started reading SPG himself....
[17:37] <KK> Is Sedina getting a kilt?  Doesn't she already have one?
[17:37] <Jessie> och aye -- but 'tis Dhugal's Kilt she's getting
[17:37] * virtualbabe would not mind having a kilt either
[17:37] <Sedina> This is a kilt that comes equipped with someone in it.  *l*
[17:37] <Martine> Oh, I decided to have a little fun about Lady Sedina Fraser running into Dhugal one midsummer's Eve <g>
[17:38] <hygilac> it's the getting that promises to be fun
[17:38] <Martine> It was a get well present for Sedina, who's been miserable with the flu.
[17:38] <Sedina> This was a "get well" story that she schemed up for me this past week
[17:38] <KK> The cat is Phoebe, who unfortunately moved out the week after Jessicat arrived; voted with her feet, so far as we can tell.
[17:38] <Bynw|Tika> a kilt with equipment huh
[17:38] <KK> But she had the milk-splash on her muzzle--a good cat.
[17:38] <virtualbabe> Katherine, you will just have to get poor Dhugal married off
[17:38] <Martine> And she's tested it too! Quite by accident, though - a little trip and fall <g>
[17:39] <scribbler> Oh my....
[17:39] <Majorsprop> We had 4 kittens yesterday I LOVE my cats
[17:39] <Martine> Four kittens! Wow!
[17:39] <virtualbabe> awwwwwwwwwww
[17:39] <Martine> I love kittens.
[17:39] <KK> 4 kittens?  Cool!
[17:39] <leslie> congratulations
[17:39] <scribbler> Mazel Tov, Major....
[17:39] <KK> What colors?
[17:39] * Bynw|Tika likes kitties
[17:39] <Majorsprop> but unfortunately the beagles ran off on Friday and haven't been seen since
[17:39] <Sedina> I love kittens...but my girls have been spared the chance of ever having little ones
[17:40] <scribbler> The next place I live HAS to allow pets!
[17:40] <KK> Beagles must have been off on a scent.  Hounds do that sometimes.
[17:40] <Majorsprop> 2 grey, 1 black and 1 grey with a white skunk stripe
[17:40] <virtualbabe> same here scrib.  I love kitties, and wish I could have one
[17:40] <Martine> In my next life, I need to get rid of the allergies so I can own cats instead of appreciating others' pets
[17:40] <leslie> I've never seen a mean beagle
[17:40] <KK> Do the beagles often go walkabout?
[17:41] <KK> Is that Leslie in Texas?
[17:41] <leslie> Yup.
[17:41] *** the_Bee has joined #Deryni_Destinations
[17:41] <Martine> Hi Bee!
[17:41] * scribbler sends greetings to the_Bee
[17:41] <Bynw|Tika> hiyas Bee
[17:41] <Jessie> hello Bee
[17:41] <Majorsprop> The older one has a thing for the ladies, the really bad thing is they were out for 2 nights in a blizzard
[17:41] <Sedina> Hi Bee
[17:41] <leslie> You can usually hear walking beagles
[17:41] <the_Bee> Hi all
[17:41] <jm> Hi bee
[17:41] <KK> Hurrah!  Another Deryni Tales contributor.  I don't think they knew that was you, Leslie.
[17:41] <hygilac> some of us did
[17:42] * Martine kowtows in front of Leslie, the third new chat room star she's discovered
[17:42] <leslie> I was going to hug you in private  *blush*
[17:42] <Martine> Congratulations, Leslie!
[17:42] <KK> I know some of them didn't, cause it came up last week.
[17:42] <scribbler> I didn't know that! Now I'm REALLY looking forward to DT!
[17:42] * Bynw|Tika thinks that all the contributors should come to the chat
[17:42] <KK> Do the walking beagles bark/bay while they're walking, or do they have big feet?
[17:43] *** Gamgee has left #Deryni_Destinations
[17:43] <scribbler> Would there be room for the rest of us ordinary folk if they did....
[17:43] * Martine agrees with Bynw\Tika, but her knees will get awfully sore with all the kowtowing.
[17:43] <Bynw|Tika> oh yes scribbler
[17:43] <leslie> They bugle! Aaarroooooooooooo!!!
[17:43] <KK> And bell.
[17:43] <hygilac> LOL
[17:43] <Bynw|Tika> we had a 131 users on last wednesday night
[17:43] <virtualbabe> Martine, My kowtowing is strictly limited to Katherine
[17:43] <KK> Probably somewhat similar to basset hounds--or bassadors.
[17:43] <Majorsprop> Yep Elvis is a huge bugler and singer
[17:43] <hygilac> on DD?
[17:44] * scribbler imagines ringing beagles and her mind boggles....
[17:44] <Martine> LOL, vb!
[17:44] <leslie> We had a beagle/basset. Sweet creature. Kinda smelled
[17:44] <Martine> I'll get published someday, but until I do, I'll kowtow to anyone who has! <g>
[17:44] <Bynw|Tika> hygilac, no on the server... they were mostly all in #dnd3e for a special chat there
[17:44] <KK> 131 users?!  In this room?!
[17:44] <Sedina> Never had a beagle, but my sister did have a bassett.  His biggest problem was trying to look graceful and not trip on his ears
[17:44] <Jessie> scribbler:  until you hear a beagle or a "coon hound" on trail -- you haven't heard anything
[17:44] <Jessie> they sing while they trail
[17:45] <Martine> Oh yes they certainly do.
[17:45] <scribbler> interesting....not too many hunting hounds in my part of town....
[17:45] <KK> I've heard that coon hounds are something to hear.
[17:45] <Majorsprop> Our Elvis sings to his cats
[17:45] <Jessie> they are beautiful to hear KK
[17:45] <hygilac> we used to have hunters come to take their coon hounds down our creek, but not in a while
[17:45] *** Ghostgames has quit IRC (Connection Closed)
[17:45] <leslie> Of course, you've all read "Where the Red Fern Grows"?
[17:45] <KK> Jessicat has just jumped onto my lap to check things out.
[17:46] <scribbler> Oh, I LOVE that book, Leslie....
[17:46] * Bynw|Tika waves hi to jessicat
[17:46] * virtualbabe waves to Jessicat
[17:46] <Jessie> hello Jessicat
[17:46] <KK> Now she's down.
[17:46] <Sedina> but of course, leslie...
[17:46] <hygilac> everyone in the world has read that one, leslie
[17:46] <Martine> I did, leslie, but it's been an awfully long time.
[17:46] * Sedina gives scritches to Jessiecat
[17:46] <Majorsprop> The neighbors like the beagle noise almost as much as the bagpipe practice
[17:46] * the_Bee skritches Jessicat between her ears
[17:46] <virtualbabe> I've not red it
[17:46] <Sedina> Hmmm..I really can't spell today.  *l*
[17:46] <leslie> Teach the beagles to pipe :}
[17:46] <Martine> Spelling is overrated :-)
[17:46] <KK> Now, there's a thought.
[17:46] <Martine> At least in chat!
[17:46] <scribbler> VB, it was required reading when I was in elementary school....
[17:47] <Majorsprop> if they come home I might, maybe, then can find them
[17:47] <Martine> In my school, too. That's why it's been such a long time!
[17:47] <Sedina> It was required reading for me as well
[17:47] * Bynw|Tika totally agrees
[17:47] <virtualbabe> Not in the school I went to
[17:47] <KK> Do the beagles have somewhere to get out of the blizzard without coming home?  Do you think they're ok?
[17:47] <hygilac> Rawls has a better book called Summer of the monkeys
[17:48] <hygilac> Jessie, I was right about the snow missing me :(
[17:48] <Majorsprop> We had to read it then watch the movie, it was the only movie besides Brian's Song we ever saw boys cry about
[17:48] <scribbler> hyg -- I think I saw a movie based on that book...I think it was on Disney Channel....
[17:48] <leslie> If they're people dogs they're probably shacked up with someone
[17:48] <hygilac> yes, scribs--it came out a few years back, but the book is so much funnier
[17:49] <jm> Didn't have to read it in school, have bad memories of dissecting The Pearl for weeks and weeks
[17:49] <scribbler> I'll have to look for that....
[17:49] <Majorsprop> We haven't seen any new tracks and I am afraid if they didn't come home the first night it isn't good news. Will check the shelters tomorrow
[17:49] <leslie> Did you see the Disney movie on Anastia?
[17:49] <scribbler> No....
[17:49] <KK> How far do they usually go?
[17:49] <Martine> Do you mean Anastasia, Leslie?
[17:49] <leslie> yep
[17:49] <Martine> I did - and loved it!
[17:50] <Martine> It wasn't Disney, though - I think it was Fox?
[17:50] <virtualbabe> I thought Anistasia was a Don Bluth film
[17:50] <Martine> Or Warner Brothers?
[17:50] <Majorsprop> Last time we found them over 1 mile away pretty good for an old dog
[17:50] <scribbler> "Welcome to Animal Planet with your host, Katherine Kurtz"
[17:50] <Sedina> Anastasia was Fox, I believe
[17:50] *** Kelos_al-Hazar has joined #Deryni_Destinations
[17:50] <Rebecca> It was a Warner Bros. movie.
[17:50] * scribbler sends greetings to Kelos_al-Hazar
[17:50] <Martine> Hi Kelos!
[17:50] <KK> Hello, Kelos.
[17:50] <the_Bee> hi kelos
[17:50] <Sedina> Or not...  *l*
[17:50] <Kelos_al-Hazar> Greetings, everyone.
[17:50] <virtualbabe> Hi Kelos
[17:50] <Majorsprop> Sorry about that but we all tend to be animal lovers here
[17:50] <leslie> Was a musical. Don't ask me how the story of the Romonovs became a musical with a happy ending.....
[17:51] <Sedina> I liked the fact that Anastasia had a very well done Spanish version of the movie as well.
[17:51] <virtualbabe> *eep*
[17:51] <KK> All things considered, they managed rather well.
[17:51] <scribbler> Major -- so am I, though I'm currently animal-deprived....
[17:51] <Jessie> Katherine: how did writing go this week
[17:51] <Martine> Me too :-(
[17:51] <leslie> I guess history is relative
[17:51] * Sedina sends Majorsprop good luck wishes in having the fur children return safely
[17:51] <Martine> History for entertainment only is never history - but it's fun!
[17:51] * Kelos_al-Hazar has been animal-deprived for over a decade now...
[17:51] <hygilac> Hollywood can do anything
[17:52] *** Ghostgames has joined #Deryni_Destinations
[17:52] <Martine> WB, Ann!
[17:52] <scribbler> WB Ann....
[17:52] <the_Bee> wb GG
[17:52] <Rebecca> Well history is relative when you're turning it into a fairy tale
[17:52] <KK> Pretty good.  I did some reworking on the prologue and first 3 chapters, fine-tuning after several months of hiatus.  It's moving rather well now.
[17:52] <Jessie> wb Ann
[17:52] <Majorsprop> thanks Sedina
[17:52] <virtualbabe> Of course it can.  Witness Ed Wood
[17:52] <Sedina> wb Ann
[17:52] <hygilac> like sending Hester Prynne (Demi Moore) and her Dimmsdale off happily
[17:52] <Ghostgames> I sure wish PEER /told/ me when he was kicking me out....
[17:52] *** Kelric has joined #Deryni_Destinations
[17:52] <Martine> LOL!
[17:52] <scribbler> Will it be a major difference from what's in SPG?
[17:52] <Martine> hi Kelric!
[17:52] <Sedina> Hi Kelric
[17:52] * scribbler sends greetings to Kelric
[17:52] <the_Bee> hi kel
[17:52] <Jessie> hello Kelric
[17:52] <Kelric> howdy all.
[17:52] <leslie> I need to recharge my creative batteries
[17:52] <jm> hi kelric
[17:53] <leslie> hi kelric!
[17:53] <KK> Nope, just fine tuning of that Camberian Council meeting.
[17:53] <Kelric> I won't be on long at this juncture.  covering AV before my break :)
[17:53] <scribbler> Ah....
[17:53] <KK> This served to get me re-immersed in the story.
[17:53] * Kelos_al-Hazar has found his creative juices flowing most for his PBeM writing...and finds it frustrating...
[17:54] <Majorsprop> KK I saw a book today called The Head of the Templars: The Treasures of the Templars. Sounded very familiar after SPG
[17:54] <leslie> I'm an escapist. need something to daydream with
[17:54] <KK> The Head of the Templars?  Was that the actual title?  And do you remember the author/s?
[17:54] <leslie> My dad's a 32 degree Shrine Templer
[17:54] <hygilac> I know that feeling well, leslie, and teenagers are not at all in the picture!
[17:55] <scribbler> I have a question -- are there any plans to write stories about Alister Cullen? I was thinking about some of the memories Camber assimilated....
[17:55] <leslie> yeah
[17:55] <KK> That would be good subject for a short story, Scribs.  I'll keep it in mind.
[17:56] <Majorsprop> Yes that was the actual title I don't remember the author I'll check it out for you
[17:56] <KK> (Sigh.  So many stories; so little time.)
[17:56] <scribbler> I was thinking about playing around with them in a fan-fic I might write for my own amusement....
[17:56] <Martine> LOL, KK!
[17:56] <leslie> Trying to remember, did Cullen have a hobby, or indulgence?
[17:56] <scribbler> Some of them would REALLY be fascinating to expand....
[17:56] <hygilac> Time to get KK cloned. . .
[17:56] <Kelos_al-Hazar> I think that's the Writer's Lament, KK!
[17:56] <leslie> you can have the clone. i want the real thing
[17:56] <KK> It is, indeed.
[17:56] <virtualbabe> besides meddling in politics leslie
[17:57] * Martine looks at her story stove, which currently has about fifty-three pots simmering. Argh! <g>
[17:57] <scribbler> hyg -- Didn't you know? We've already decided she has to live to AT LEAST 150
[17:57] <virtualbabe> and we will still be suggesting storys
[17:57] <KK> Speaking of story pots, where are Shiral and Jasta tonight?
[17:57] <Kelos_al-Hazar> I dunno why, KK, but I find it almost impossible to work directly with your characters...it's like...I'm not sure.
[17:57] <hygilac> well, that goes without saying, of course
[17:57] <leslie> no, she'll never die until we're through with her
[17:57] <scribbler> When she was out in California in May, we planned out her next 10 books before she arrived....
[17:57] <Jessie> Shiral has to work today -- will try to be in when opportunity allows
[17:57] <Martine> I've been wondering the same thing, Katherine.
[17:57] <Jessie> Jasta:  I'm not sure
[17:57] <scribbler> Shiral was in earlier -- should be back soon...
[17:58] <KK> It's like me getting comfortable putting words in George Washington's mouth.  It took quite a while.
[17:58] <Kelric> heh
[17:58] <Kelos_al-Hazar> I think you did a wonderful job with TCFA!
[17:59] <the_Bee> That's why I use my own character.  Caeriesse is such a convenient setting: no baggage
[17:59] <KK> A fairly safe bet, Bee.
[17:59] <hygilac> yes, one is always wondering if the spirit of the historical person is groaning and going "I'd NEVER have said that!"
[17:59] * scribbler reminds herself to check for a copy of TCFA at Bookbuyers for Mark to read....
[18:00] <Bynw|Tika> bynw liked Two Crowns
[18:00] <Kelric> heh.
[18:00] <scribbler> Look for lumps where they've turned over in their graves....
[18:00] * Martine did too
[18:00] <Martine> LOL, Scribbler!
[18:00] <KK> When working with a real character, you end up reading a LOT of real history, to get the right feel.
[18:00] <KK> Fortunately. I enjoy reading real history.
[18:00] <Martine> If that's what happens, scribs, I've probably got Edward I spinning on a regular basis!
[18:00] <virtualbabe> I can see that.  It seems to be a lot easier with your own characters
[18:00] <leslie> i never used to like researching. Now it's fun
[18:00] <Kelos_al-Hazar> Well, like it or not, I've got to eventually use canon characters in Rising of the Phoenix, although I'm very much against doing it. :sigh:
[18:01] <scribbler> Mark agrees -- I have to chase him off to shop for a birthday present....
[18:01] <Majorsprop> I do to even the fictionalized stuff y Margaret George
[18:01] <the_Bee> whose birthday?  yours?
[18:01] <scribbler> yes....
[18:02] <the_Bee> Happy Birthday to youuuu... :)
[18:02] <scribbler> that's why I'm so insistent -- I shop for every one else in the family, so he has to do mine!
[18:02] <KK> Yes and no, Babe.  Using a real historical setting at least eliminates the need to invent all that background.  And having real characters as a foil to your own can also be very useful.
[18:02] <Kelric> it feels funny.  2 weeks+1 day past turning a quarter
[18:02] <scribbler> Happy belated, Kelric....
[18:03] <virtualbabe> wait till you get to ½ century Kelric
[18:03] <Bynw|Tika> when is your bday scribbler?
[18:03] <scribbler> vb -- What century?
[18:03] <Sedina> I forget that I'm actually a little bit older than you, Kelric...  Nice to know that I'm not the only "infant" around here.  :)
[18:03] <Kelric> lol.
[18:03] <KK> Amen, Babe!  Kelric is an infant.
[18:03] <the_Bee> I'm way past that.  Older than you, Katherine
[18:03] <Majorsprop> How many do you have for your Midwest DeryniFest?
[18:03] <scribbler> B/T -- tomorrow....I "marched forth" on March 4th....that's how I got Mark to actually remember my birthday!
[18:03] <Kelric> erk.  av clerk back.  bbs.
[18:03] *** Kelric has quit IRC (QUIT: Leaving)
[18:04] <Kelos_al-Hazar> VB...milady...I'm not too far away from the big 4-0 myself...and I've done nothing of significance to my opinion.
[18:04] <scribbler> Well, I'm a few years PAST the big 4-0....
[18:04] <leslie> me too
[18:04] <KK> A good mnemonic, Scribs.
[18:04] <jm> me too
[18:04] <Majorsprop> Staying alive is sometimes significant enough
[18:04] <virtualbabe> you're alive.  I consider that fairly sibnificant
[18:04] <Bynw|Tika> the count is still in a state of flux ... dont know for sure yet ... it's a combo of my (bynw's) birthday and deryni gathering
[18:04] <KK> Scott is March 9, and our anniversary is April 9.
[18:04] <scribbler> Now if I could come up with something for my anniversary....
[18:05] * virtualbabe cannot type today
[18:05] <scribbler> April 27th here -- not too memorable...
[18:05] <Jessie> Bynw|Tika:  isn't Bynw's birthday March 9th?
[18:05] <Bynw|Tika> Yep
[18:05] <the_Bee> March 21.  59 this month
[18:05] * Martine turns 30 next month, and is actually looking forward to *not* being an infant anymore <g>
[18:05] <leslie> We're all March babes
[18:05] <virtualbabe> not I.  I is a sept gal
[18:05] <Majorsprop> I'd like to come. Denver to Des Moines is doable but alas life with kids interferes.
[18:05] <the_Bee> Is Bynw a "Babe"?
[18:06] <jm> I always say I was my parents favorite tax deduction Dec 31
[18:06] <Bynw|Tika> one of my (bynw again) aunts was also born on March 9th
[18:06] * scribbler figures she can be considered a "babe" in maybe another 50 or so pounds.... ;)
[18:06] <Kelos_al-Hazar> VB... I don't know. It's just that I'm the only person of my HS graduating class (1981) that's never held a job for more than 9 weeks at a time...and has less than 2 years total work experience.
[18:06] <KK> Well, that's 4 now that I know of.  our housekeeper, Lucy, is also March 9.  And also another friend of ours, who is 83 now, I think.
[18:06] <scribbler> Wow, March 9th was a busy day!
[18:06] <Sedina> vb - September is a great month for bdays.  Of course, I'm just slightly biased, but that's beside the point
[18:06] <Bynw|Tika> Katherine, Tell my Birthday Buddy happy birthday for me :-)
[18:06] <scribbler> I just found out today that I share a birthday with Antonio
Vivaldi....
[18:06] <hygilac> Is Bynw a "babe" Tika?
[18:07] <leslie> must have been in the water
[18:07] <the_Bee> A lot of couples must have been busy around June 9. ;)
[18:07] <Martine> LOL, Bee!
[18:07] * virtualbabe thought she was the only "babe" around here
[18:07] <Majorsprop> actually nine months before March ( sounds pretty busy to me )
[18:07] <Bynw|Tika> depends on your definition of "babe" ;)
[18:07] <Bynw|Tika> he's older than Martine tho
[18:08] <scribbler> LOL Major....
[18:08] <Majorsprop> I'm all done thanks 5 is enough for me
[18:09] <Kelos_al-Hazar> Well, I was supposed to be born 17 May 1963... but was born a month early.
[18:09] *** Shiral has joined #Deryni_Destinations
[18:09] <Shiral> Hello all
[18:09] * virtualbabe slaps Harvey around a bit with a large trout
[18:09] <Bynw|Tika> hiyas sis!
[18:09] <hygilac> HI shiral!
[18:09] <virtualbabe> hiral
[18:09] <the_Bee> Hi Shiral
[18:09] * Martine pounces on Shiral with huggles
[18:09] <scribbler> I had to look at the keyboard to figure that out, Major -- shows that my touch typing skills have gone down the tubes...
[18:09] <Martine> You Made it!
[18:09] <KK> Yay, it's Shiral!
[18:09] <Shiral> Huggles
[18:09] <Shiral> yes
[18:09] <scribbler> WB, Shiral...
[18:09] <leslie> hi shiral
[18:09] <Shiral> I have escaped the small ones for the moment
[18:10] <Shiral> But I have to go back at four
[18:10] <Shiral> So...what did I miss?
[18:10] <hygilac> any honey post out there?
[18:10] <Majorsprop> I never had typing skills obviously
[18:10] <Sedina> wb Shiral
[18:10] <hygilac> pots, not post
[18:10] <Majorsprop> or spelling
[18:10] <Shiral> nope, fortunately
[18:10] <Shiral> Since we're in a library
[18:10] <scribbler> Shiral -- I'll bet working the kids room takes a sledgehammer to any maternal instincts.... ;)
[18:10] * the_Bee goes in search of honeypots
[18:10] <Shiral> yes
[18:10] <Shiral> No Jasta today =o(
[18:11] <leslie> What? We're in a library? SShhhhhhhhh!
[18:11] <KK> What's she doing?
[18:11] <Shiral> Well, I am, Leslie
[18:11] <Shiral> =o)
[18:11] <Kelos_al-Hazar> I know this sounds like heresy, KK... but my local library has NONE of your books. I'm more than a little put out by that.
[18:11] <Shiral> But, what have I missed so far??
[18:11] <scribbler> Oh, I got to see Gandalf yesterday... ;)
[18:11] <Shiral> The cat or the wizard?
[18:11] <KK> Tell them they need to rectify that oversight!
[18:11] <leslie> I'm trying to get the Deryni books in hard back
[18:11] <virtualbabe> I would complain Loudly if that were the case in my library
[18:11] <Majorsprop> where do you live?!
[18:12] <Bynw|Tika> No kidding...what ARE they thinking
[18:12] <Jessie> Shiral: Katherine has been polishing the prologue & first 3 chapters
[18:12] <scribbler> that's funny -- my sister had a cat named Gandalf, but it was the wizard...actually, Ian McKellen who played him....
[18:12] <Kelos_al-Hazar> Clanton, AL..the backwater of the universe...
[18:12] <Shiral>  Oh good, Jessie
[18:12] <Martine> I thought I had the smallest town library in the world - and they had ALL of Katherine's books.
[18:12] <Shiral> Well, I *KNOW* that Cupertino will be ordering the Tales for a fact <G>
[18:12] <Majorsprop> Oh my that does sound like backwater
[18:12] <virtualbabe> Alabama, the buckle of the bible belt.  I'm surprised they even have a a library
[18:13] <scribbler> "If you're looking for the bright center of the universe, you're on the planet it's farthest from".....
[18:13] <KK> Katherine has also been giving guidance on Martine's room plans for Rhemuth's Great Hall and answering Jessie's questions about Codex Supplement.
[18:13] * Jessie hangs her head
[18:13] <Jessie> sorry
[18:13] <hygilac> there are backwaters you have not yet dreamed of
[18:13] <Shiral> That's right Scribbler. I couldn't remember if  Gandalf the cat was still alive
[18:13] <Shiral> Well, it's all Deryni Related, right?
[18:13] <KK> Of course.
[18:13] <Jessie> Shiral:  Katherine has also been giving guidance on Martine & her shoehorn & my nagging questions
[18:13] <Kelos_al-Hazar> Our most significant landmark right now is a water tower shaped like a gigantic peach...on I-65...
[18:13] * Martine bops Jessie for calling her questions nagging
[18:14] <Majorsprop> how many in your town?
[18:14] * Jessie falls off her chair
[18:14] <Shiral> I wouldn't call the Supplement or the Castle Off Topic
[18:14] <Martine> LOL!
[18:14] <leslie> Our tower doesn't have one
[18:14] <KK> Not at all off topic.
[18:14] <Kelos_al-Hazar> I'm not sure? About 15k-27k...
[18:14] * Shiral doesn't actually have questions at this moment, she's just glad to be here
[18:14] <virtualbabe> well Kelos, that's better then most water towers which are distinctly phallic in nature
[18:14] <Kelos_al-Hazar> You didn't see it whilst they were painting it...
[18:14] <Majorsprop> Oh that is Huge. My Mom's family in MO has 768
[18:15] <Kelos_al-Hazar> It looked (at one point) like Homer Simpson's bare butt...
[18:15] <leslie> lol
[18:15] <Martine> LOL
[18:15] * Shiral wants more Childe Morgan, though....
[18:15] <Jessie> lol Shiral
[18:15] <scribbler> We have a water tower painted like a giant Libby's can....it's on the site of an old cannery....
[18:15] * virtualbabe faints dead away at that image
[18:15] <Shiral> Leslie are you enjoying your Tales??
[18:15] <Martine> It sounds better than my old small town, Kelos.
[18:15] <Bynw|Tika> we have the Siemens water tower in Cumming, GA   *grins*
[18:15] <leslie> Delish. Burp  grin
[18:15] <Martine> Before I got married, my home town's biggest landmark was the garbage transfer station.
[18:15] <KK> Shiral, it's all grist for the mill grinding out Childe.
[18:15] <Bynw|Tika> guess what shape it has
[18:15] <Shiral> LOL
[18:16] <the_Bee> We have abstract art gas tanks
[18:16] <Shiral> I suspected as much, KK
[18:16] <Shiral> Just hard to be patient <G>
[18:16] <Jessie> yes
[18:16] <Shiral> Words are written much more slowly than they are read!
[18:16] <Martine> Why be patient, Shiral? Commit more fanfic to amuse us instead! <g>
[18:16] <jm> true, sadly
[18:16] <scribbler> depends on who's doing the reading....
[18:16] <leslie> We have a fire whistle that goes off at 7:00pm weeknights
[18:16] <hygilac> well, all, must go out in the cold and no snow :(
[18:16] <Shiral>  And if you get THIS group wanting more, they become insatiable!
[18:17] <Jessie> sorry hygilac
[18:17] <Shiral> Bye, Linda =o(
[18:17] <scribbler> dress warm, hyg....
[18:17] <Sedina> Bye Linda
[18:17] <Martine> Bye, Linda!
[18:17] <KK> Bye, Linda.
[18:17] <Martine> Stay warm!
[18:17] <Shiral> No snow here either if it makes you feel better
[18:17] <virtualbabe> bye-eee linda
[18:17] <Rebecca> bye Linda
[18:17] <leslie> stay warm
[18:17] <the_Bee> bye linda
[18:17] <hygilac> Bye everyone.  Have a great week katherine.  Write!
[18:17] <Jessie> bye & huggles hygilac
[18:17] <jm> bye linda
[18:17] <Majorsprop> bye linda
[18:17] <Martine> It's *still* raining here. Yay!
[18:17] <scribbler> But our weather's a LOT warmer....
[18:17] *** hygilac has quit IRC (QUIT: )
[18:17] <KK> I shall write!
[18:17] <leslie> I am a confessed Deryni junkie
[18:17] <Shiral> Shhh, Scribbler!

(to be continued...)
