KK Chat - June 10, 2001, pt. 1

*** ChanServ sets mode: +o KK
<scribbler> welcome KK!
<Jessie> hello Katherine
<Rebecca> Hello Katherine! Sure you don't want to stay till Saturday?
<vegasunicorn> hello, Katherine!!!!
<@KK> Hi, there.
<@KK> Yes, I'd love to stay until Saturday.
<@KK> But if I did, the book wouldn't get written, would it?
<scribbler> We had a great time here on the Left Coast with Rob and Mary yesterday....
*** Joins: Shiral
<Rebecca> YOu do have that cool new laptop now :)
<Shiral> Shiral
<Golux> There are computers in the US
<Jessie> hello shiral
<Jessie> just in time
<@KK> I do have a cool laptop--though I'm not on it just now.
<Shiral> Hi all!
<vegasunicorn> hi
<@KK> This is Jasta's machine.
<Golux> Shiral- long time no see
<Shiral> So has this just started?
<scribbler> saw in the last chat log you got the laptop; congrats....
*** Shiral is now known as Isadora
<scribbler> Katherine just got here a couple of minutes ago...
*** Isadora is now known as Shiral
<@KK> I even loaded Word without incident.
*** ChanServ sets mode: +o Shiral
<@Shiral> Sigh
<@KK> Isadora is on line tonight?
*** Joins: hooded_one
<Jessie> excellent Katherine
<@KK> Hi, Hood.
<@Shiral> Yes, she's a very talented cat!
<@KK> Hi, Jessie.
<@Shiral> Hi everyone
<scribbler> Now THAT is an accomplishment, Katherine; loading Word without incident.....
<hooded_one> why does my nick always get ghosted when I'm disconnected?...
<@KK> Well, I haven't really tried to use it yet; just was setting up the customizing on the toolbars.
<Rebecca> it doesn't disconnect.
<@Shiral> How was the retreat, KK?
<Rebecca> We never see "great hooded one is disconnected."
*** Quits: great_hooded_one <Connection reset by peer)
<@Shiral> You might have bad chat Karma Raymond
<@KK> I scared myself when I first started trying to load, though, because the battery wasn't yet charged, and it kept shutting down. So I plugged it into the mains power and let the battery charging overnight. All is well now.
<scribbler> now "great_hooded_one" is disconnected....
<@KK> Retreat was great.
*** hooded_one is now known as great_hooded_one
<@KK> I have a cat sitting here watching me type.
<scribbler> I usually try to keep my battery charged; comes in handy with the rolling blackouts...
<@Shiral> You must feel right at home then, KK. <G>
<@KK> It's Jasta's Lo-Lo, who is more than 20 years old.
<vegasunicorn> mine is too
<scribbler> Cats and computers go well together....
<vegasunicorn> mine is 10
<@Shiral> Rob was QUITE shocked to find Donald in California. <G>
<Rebecca> I'm sure!!
<Rebecca> did you get a picture?
<@KK> So, did it go well?
<@Shiral> It was a great party! Good to see Rob and Mary and everyone
<scribbler> it was a lot of fun.....I had to leave about 6:30, but it went till about 11 from what I hear....
<@Shiral> Carolyn was surprised, too. She came in, used the bathroom, and just about jumped out of her skin when Donald tapped her on the shoulder!
<Rebecca> what time did it start?
<@KK> Well, last night we were out on the deck looking at stars and shooting stars and satellites.
<Rebecca> lol
<scribbler> we met for lunch at 1pm -- Rob picked up the check which surprised us all....
<Rebecca> wow!
<@Shiral> And Mary too, I'll bet!
*** Joins: hygilac
<hygilac> hi folks
<Rebecca> hey linda! Just in time
<Jessie> hello hygilac
<@Shiral> Donald is now off visiting his friend Tim north of SF
<@Shiral> Hi Linda
<vegasunicorn> hi
<scribbler> maybe he'll write it off as a business expense..... 8-)
<Rebecca> Linda, Laura says Hello
<hygilac> she made it then?
<hygilac> Jessie and I were wondering
<Rebecca> yes she did. Though the flight was delayed
* Kelos_al-Hazar is back -[ Church night...be back about 7pm Central ]- gone 1 hr 51 min 33 s
<hygilac> inevitably, it seems
<Rebecca> we stuffed ourselves on crabs this afternoon
<scribbler> wb Kelos....
<Rebecca> afternoon
<Kelos_al-Hazar> Thanks...
<Jessie> wb Kelos
<hygilac> yummy
<@Shiral> The party actually ended around 10:30
<@Shiral> Then the Cats came out and sniffed
<@Shiral> WB, Kelos
<scribbler> so I missed about half of it....
<hygilac> How surprised was Rob, Melissa?
<@Shiral> Alas, yes, Roberta
<@Shiral> Very!
<@Shiral> So was Mary
<hygilac> good
<@Shiral> We had breakfast with them this morning
<Kelos_al-Hazar> Thank you, everyone.
<scribbler> I liked Rob's "Dead Librarians" story.....meant to buy a copy of the book, but ran off and forgot <sniff snuffle....)
<@Shiral> You can order a copy from him when they get back in about three weeks, Roberta
<@KK> Linda, I understand you were a willing co-conspirator on a certain Camelot parody. :-)
<scribbler> thx...
<@Shiral> She wrote most of the songs!
<hygilac> I admit it--but Melissa started it
<@Shiral> Guilty as charged. <G>
<@KK> Julianne and Sharon and several others were singing some of the songs last night. What a hoot!
<@Shiral> My my, we never know what goes on at Michaeline Retreats do we? <EG>
<scribbler> we're waiting for the original way-off Broadway cast album.....
<Rebecca> hey guys, maybe you're off the hook for Darkover. Julianne and Sharon can sing them
* hygilac pokes Shiral in the ribs to join her in a bow
* Shiral bows
<@KK> Well, that was last night, after a full day of meetings and meals and memorials and such. We get silly late at night.
<@Shiral> Everybody needs to get silly!
*** Tika_away is now known as Tika
<@KK> Absolutely.
<hygilac> the sillier the better, in this case
<scribbler> I get silly no matter WHAT time of day it is....
<@Shiral> Especially late at night!
<@KK> Hello, Tika!
<@Shiral> Hi Tika!
<@Tika> hi again all ;)
<Wrengl> wb Tika.
<hygilac> hi again Tika
<@Tika> KK, is Jasta there with you?
<scribbler> hello Tika....
<vegasunicorn> hi
<Golux> How was dinner?
* Kelos_al-Hazar didn't necessarily say he wanted to be off the hook...and grins
<@KK> Yes, Jasta is here, but she's not in the room right now.
<@Tika> incredible, a fare fit for royalty ;)
<scribbler> Jasta was on herself earlier, then KK came on...
<@Shiral> Or did Jasta Sing herself to the point of Exhaustion?
<@Tika> Bynw said he was putting a picture of his plate on the web site LOL
<@Tika> I do not know if he actually did that
<@KK> I've never known Jasta to sing to the point of exhaustion.
<@Shiral> BRB
<Rebecca> It's there.
*** Joins: Princess_E
<Rebecca> It looks good!
<Rebecca> In fact it's still there!
<Rebecca> didn't he eat any?
<@Tika> LOL yes he ate most of it and is saving the rest for lunch tomorrow
<@Tika> that is the *before* picture hehehe
<@Shiral> I don't necessarily want OFF the hook entirely myself. But I will be glad for the singing assistance!
<hygilac> agreed
<@KK> I think you guys should stage it for Darkover. Jaelle would love it!
<Golux> wb princess e
<Wrengl> Yes, do it!
<@Shiral> There are some numbers that will need more than one person, anyway!
* Wrengl grins, glad she can't sing.
<scribbler> the court jesters?
<@Tika> KK... <arrow sound>... message for you sir! ;)
<@KK> I think it would be an absolute hit at Darkover.
<Wrengl> It certainly would be.
<@Shiral> And to think they started out as an innocent form of amusement!
<Wrengl> No such thing around here Melissa
<hygilac> Perhaps Emily can recruit some singers for us
<Rebecca> from newsgroup to Broadway! :)
<@KK> Innocent? You, Shiral?!
<Princess_E> Hello KK
<Rebecca> ask her on Saturday
* Shiral looks around the chatroom with Bambi eyes. What on earth could she mean by that???
<@KK> Hello, Princess. Who are you?
<hygilac> I will Rebecca; some of the people in Clam Chowder are friends of hers
* KK is afraid she's scared the Princess.
<scribbler> I wish I was going to Darkover.....<sniff, snuffle....)
<Wrengl> They would certainly get a kick out of it.
<Princess_E> I'm Elsa Marie Hinds; Daughter of Eileen Frances Joan Doser Nagy Hinds
* Kelos_al-Hazar offers KK a cup of Earl Grey, then asks if anyone else would like a cup of it.
* Shiral we don't bite Princess E!
* Rebecca will take a cup Kelos
<scribbler> Hi Princess -- have you read another page of Deryni Rising yet?
<hygilac> Just how many computers do you have in your house, Golux?
* Wrengl will take a cup.
<@KK> OK, Princess. Just didn't recognize your screen name. :-)
<great_hooded_one> actually, Elsa and mom are on the same one
<vegasunicorn> i would- thanx Kelos
<Princess_E> I have not read anything today
<scribbler> Ah, thank you for the elucidation, hooded one....
<great_hooded_one> mom is on with mirc, and elsa is on through the website
<scribbler> Now that school's out, you've got a lot of time to read fun stuff...
* Wrengl passes around a tray of homemade sugar free chocolate dipped strawberries.
<great_hooded_one> Elsa does have her own computer, but no internet
* Rebecca thanks Pat
<Princess_E> sure but I like to play barbies and outside
<@Tika> mmmmm strawberries
<@KK> I think this is the first time I've seen the Princess here--and I think she's probably our youngest denizen. Good to see you here, Princess!
<scribbler> true -- must be well-rounded....
<@Tika> unfortunately I'm stuffed so I'll save one for later Wrengl, thanks! :)
<hygilac> ummmm. . .all that was missing from the wedding shower
<@Shiral> <Tell Jasta to hide the gardening gloves, KK...)
<Wrengl> LOL
* Kelos_al-Hazar passes out the full cups of tea...carefully.
<@KK> She kept threatening to give gardening gloves to various people a the retreat.
<@Shiral> BRB, Gotta do a pre-closing library round
<@Shiral> LOL!
<@Tika> and see Jessie, dinner began at 8:06 ;)
<scribbler> make sure to chase off all the
<Jessie> Jessie says sorry Tika -- the broomstick wouldn't start
<scribbler> make sure to chase off all the DeAnza students sleeping in the stacks...
<@Tika> LOL okie :)
<hygilac> scribbler, are you Roberta who has jury duty?
<scribbler> yes -- whom are you?
<hygilac> hygilac/Linda
<scribbler> I'm still trying to put names with nicks....
<hygilac> I haven't posted much recently
<scribbler> and faces...
<Kelos_al-Hazar> And one of my so-able review board hygilac is! :)
<@Shiral> I'm back
<Wrengl> It takes time to get everyone straight
<scribbler> Ah-ha....real life keeps interfering....
<hygilac> You will find me on the website is some of the Darkover pics from last year
<@KK> Me too, Scribbler.
<scribbler> I'll have to check it out; I'll be at Darkover if I win the lottery between now and then..... <fingers crossed for luck).....
<Wrengl> At Darkover I was Lady Mac Canid, wife of Corgheart, my furson.
<hygilac> I offer you sympathy for the jury duty
* Kelos_al-Hazar looks forward to Darkover 2001...but needs to send in his membership reservation ASAP
<Rebecca> I"m in some of the Darkover pics too
<scribbler> KK, we met at Eileen's last month; I was sitting next to Susan helping to fatten up Marissa....
<Rebecca> I haven't even gotten my membership info yet
<hygilac> actually, the post-wedding report on Derry's wedding was written in the courtroom when I had jury duty last fall
<@KK> Incidentally, if I don't respond occasionally, it's probably because Jasta's son Brian is playing a Button Man game in the background, and checks periodically to see if yous opponents have moved.
<scribbler> There
<Wrengl> We joined last year on Sunday.
<scribbler> oops, keep hitting return by accidents...
<@KK> Scribbler, your real name is....?
<scribbler> Linda, I'm not looking forward to jury duty this time; there's a big murder trial starting this week....
<scribbler> KK: scribbler=Roberta
<hygilac> ugh--not food
<Kelos_al-Hazar> Ack. Maybe you'll be struck off the jury, Roberta.
<hygilac> food for a comfortable time
<@Shiral> But at least you're armed with plenty of reading materials, Roberta!
<Wrengl> Hope you don't get picked.
<@KK> Gotcha! Do you think you'll get empaneled for the murder trial?
<@Tika> KK, you have a private message <that was Bynw on the phone, btw ;)
<hygilac> Though I am not an Eddings supporter, I have a suggestion
<Kelos_al-Hazar> Jury pay used to be pretty good...now it's woefully behind true costs. :<
<scribbler> If they go for the death penalty, I could say I'm opposed on religious grounds....
<hygilac> take Demon Lord of Karanda and display the cover prominently to both attorneys
<scribbler> hygilac: LOL.....
<vegasunicorn> i got a summons once for jury duty but since I had to take care of my dad, they excused me
<Golux> * just got my earl grey tea sip
<@Tika> scribbler, I'm hoping that's actually the case too <I'd do the same)
<scribbler> I've only had jury duty twice; once I was the alternate for the trial, which meant I sat through the whole thing but didn't get to deliberate....
<@Shiral> I haven't got my Darkover stuff in the mail yet, though
<Rebecca> I got lucky last time I had jury duty. Big murder trial, my panel was called in because they wanted a large pool to choose from, but they did it in shifts.
<hygilac> neither have I
<Kelos_al-Hazar> I haven't sent my stuff in yet...Need to, ASAP, though.
<Rebecca> Got to the courthouse and we were told we could go home--they had a jury. 20 bucks for me!
<scribbler> of course, since I'm currently in employment limbo, ANY pay sounds good....
<Rebecca> for nothing!
<@KK> I'm afraid I'm in favor of the death penalty in some instances.
<Kelos_al-Hazar> Like McVeigh?
<scribbler> and the courthouse is right down the street, so I could even go home for lunch!
<@KK> Yep.
<@Shiral> I don't know, I'd like to see him stuck in a really dark, smelly dungeon for the rest of his life.
<hygilac> I am in cases where there was definite malice aforethought
<@Shiral> In complete obscurity
<scribbler> it's not so much the penalty itself, but my conscience; I get enough nightmares....
* Kelos_al-Hazar is afraid that he'd volunteer to pull the switch <or press the button, or whatever) that does that one in!)
<Jessie> Katherine: any thoughts about Child Morgan over the retreat?
<Golux> This case is prob not a Death case
<@KK> At taxpayer expense, and with the possibility of later parole?
<@Tika> administer the injection in this case, Kelos
<Wrengl> I also support the death penalty for some crimes.
*** Joins: Kelric
<vegasunicorn> yeah, but if he is in jail for the rest of his life, taxpayers have to pay for it
<Kelric> hi all
<@Shiral> No, lock him up and let him be forgotten! Not that I expect it will happen that way. I just don't want to see him turned into a cause celebre
<scribbler> hi Kelric; we just got off-topic on death penalty....
<@Shiral> Hi Kelric
<Kelric> I see that the topic right now would be McVeigh?
<hygilac> Hi Kelric
<Golux> And we were talking about you!!
<@Shiral> SO, as Jessie asked, Any undeadly thoughts on Childe Morgan, KK? <G>
<Kelos_al-Hazar> Trouble with life in prison is that the State has to divvy up $20-25k a year per prisoner, or the ACLU would scream "FOUL!"
<@Tika> LOL
<@KK> As Scott says, you don't kill a rabid dog because it's rabid; you kill it so it won't bite anyone else.
<Wrengl> Agreed, Katherine
<scribbler> actually, it started out on my jury duty this week; they're starting jury selection for the guy who allegedly killed his wife....
<@Shiral> Hence the dark, smelly dungeon, like the one in the Dunvegan Castle, KK!
<great_hooded_one> maybe if they didn't give them cabe and all that...
<vegasunicorn> they could let him in a locked room w/the family members of the ones he killed
<great_hooded_one> cable, not cabe
<Kelos_al-Hazar> It frightens me badly that so many felons have internet access as part of their "rehabilitation"!
<@KK> One problem is that they make prisons so pleasant--other than not being free to come and go.
<scribbler> yeah, let's talk about Childe Morgan -- I'm going to be dealing with the other stuff too much this week!
<Wrengl> And are quite good at running scams from their prison cells.
<Jessie> Katherine: exactly what was Joram Macrorie's position within the Michaeline Order?
<Kelos_al-Hazar> Good question, Jessie! :)
<@KK> But rehabilitation, in practice, just doesn't happen very often.

<JastaElf> Hi hon!
<JastaElf> Hi there, y'all!
<scribbler> wb Jasta
<Jessie> i.e. Jebediah stood at the right of the Abbatical throne & Joram's place was next to Jebediah
* Wrengl Thumper says g'dai y'all.
<@Shiral> Still wearing slacks when you think about Donal Blaine, KK? <G>
<@KK> Agreed, Wrengl But I don't think we need to get off on this tangent. Not that I can report much writing progress this week--other than committing laptop.
<Golux> That is progress if you are on the road
<Kelos_al-Hazar> Committing laptop?
<JastaElf> :-) KK committed seriously COOL laptop....
<JastaElf> we went shopping! :-)
<Wrengl> Yes it is, even if not this trip, it will make life easier for future trips.
<@Shiral> Joram must have risen through the ranks pretty quickly, and we know that Alister Cullen thought highly of him
<@KK> It's a nifty little Compaq Presario.
<scribbler> Jessie: Wasn't that after Camber's "death" in SC? Remember, there was a little bit of a shake-up, with all the deaths and injuries at Iomaire....
<@Tika> LOL, Bynw wants to commit laptop VERY badly
<@Shiral> I'd like to commit expensive vacation myself. <G>
<scribbler> I love my iBook!
<Jessie> Yes but the phrase used was: in his customary place which would imply that it had nothing to with Iomaire
<hygilac> I'll bet he does, Tika
<@Shiral> BRB
<@KK> I don't think Joram was particularly high-ranking in the Order. He was still fairly young after all.
* Kelos_al-Hazar notes that his mom will <hopefully soon!) buy a laptop...but her budget for it...Oy!
<Jessie> i.e. Jebediah stood at the right of the Abbatical throne & Joram's place was next to Jebediah
<@KK> His customary place could very well have been determined by personal affinity.
* JastaElf just had hubby commit repair on mousey.... :-)
<scribbler> and also the fact that he arrived late....
<Kelric> well, food calls...
* Tika giggles "mouseyyyy"
<scribbler> to the meeting, that is....
<scribbler> take it easy, Kelric....
<Jessie> scribbler: the throne was in the front of the room
<Wrengl> cya Kelric
<JastaElf> bye Kelric!
*** Quits: Kelric <QUIT: User exited)
<@KK> Bye,Kelric.
<@Shiral> Bye Kelric
<@Shiral> I'm back for the moment
<scribbler> Jessie -- yes, but he and Camber/Alister arrived together.....
<Kelos_al-Hazar> In that case, could he not have been Cullen's personal secretary? In fact, I seem to recall such a mention somewhere!
<@Shiral> On the other hand, Joram had a natural ability, and he was the one who brought Alister and Camber together to get rid of Imre
<@KK> Once Camber had taken on Alister's identity, Joram's position relative to him would have shifted subtly, so that he would have justification to be close to Alister all the time.
<scribbler> Kelos: that was later, after Cullen became Bishop of Grecotha....remember that Jeb got jealous....
<@Shiral> And Jebediah certainly noticed the changed dynamic between them, even if other Michaelines did not.
<Kelos_al-Hazar> Hmmm... so it was...

<xmanii> Teek!
<JastaElf> not much, xman, wasabi with you? :-)
<vegasunicorn> hi
<xmanii> same-o same-o
<@KK> An Alister/Jebediah story is a possibility.
<Wrengl> I would like to see some more of Jebediah.
<@Shiral> That's a relationship that still raises interesting questions.
<@Tika> hmmmm... I LIKE that possibility ;)
<Jessie> when
<Rebecca> Me too. Jeb is cool
<@Shiral> Always liked him!
<Wrengl> AFTER Childe Morgan, Jessie, I hope!
<@Shiral> Me too!
<@Shiral> Need my Brion fix!
<JastaElf> :-) Jebediah is almost as cool as Nigel! :-)
<scribbler> There was that one memory that Camber assimilated, where Alister went out on an exercise that wasn't a training exercise, and he slit someone's throat. That would be interesting to explore....
* Wrengl giggles at Jasta
<Kelos_al-Hazar> Quite a good idea, Wrengl
* Jessie agrees with Jasta

<Jessie> Katherine: when were you thinking of writing the story about Alister & Jebediah
* JastaElf *likes* short stories... <VBG>
<@Shiral> We know, dear. <G>
<@Shiral> Especially about Nigel!

<Wrengl> Indeed, Jasta.

<Gamgee> KK: I missed going! I'm still a little bummed out that I couldn't attend.

<@Shiral> Hey, they're both in the same timeline, aren't they? <G>
<hygilac> ah, yes
<Jessie> lol Tika
<JastaElf> LOL, Tika!

<Gamgee> But, If I want to go to Darkover, and have a few days in case of emergency, something had to go.

<Wrengl> looks very good, Bynw
* Kelos_al-Hazar mutters, wondering WHICH of his Netscape plugins is blowing Netscape out of the water
<hygilac> hey Rebecca--has Laura fallen asleep or what?
<Gamgee> a plate of WHAT????
<@Bynw> a bed of rice with lemon pepper chicken covered in bell peppers
<Jessie> holland bell peppers
<Rebecca> Dunno. She left for Dover around 4:30
* JastaElf smacks her lips...
<Kelos_al-Hazar> Oh! Sound most excellent!
<scribbler> Kelos -- which Netscape version are you using.....
<Kelos_al-Hazar> 4.77
<hygilac> oh, I see
<Rebecca> She was looking forward to getting on the plane so she could sleep
<Jessie> holland bell peppers that flew to the US in first class seats
<@KK> The lemon pepper chicken on rice sounds wonderful. I'll pass on the bell peppers.
<Kelos_al-Hazar> Although I'd substitute rice pilaf for the plain rice... Heheh.
<scribbler> Ah....I thought it might be NN6; I had so much trouble with it I uninstalled it....
<hygilac> I like the bell peppers, but htey take their revenge on me for vegicide
<Rebecca> However the plane's not actually taking off till 1 am
<hygilac> I thought she might call me
<@KK> Bell peppers hate me, too.
<Kelos_al-Hazar> I don't have much trouble with Mozilla 0.9, though...
<Wrengl> So she was giving herself plenty of time to get there and relax before take off.
<scribbler> KK -- do you not like bell peppers, or are you allergic? Both my dad-in-law and brother-in-law are VERY allergic to them....
<@Bynw> now it's gonna be a live pic
<@KK> I like 'em, but they don't like me.
<Rebecca> She got in around 9pm and then went to dinner. We talked last night around 11:30 to get things together for today. She was out all day today
<Gamgee> OPERA web browser!!!! you may have to put up with some advertising, but it's still THE BEST web browser I've ever used.
<@Bynw> KK, Tika's mom has the same relationship with them
<Rebecca> They need to be there 3 hours before takeoff
<Jessie> so Alister & Jebediah for the next anthology; & a Michaeline anthology -- neat
<scribbler> Gamgee -- I think they just came out with a Mac version, I'll have to check it our....
<@KK> A woman after my own heart. Scott can't eat them either. Or tomatoes.
<Rebecca> And her supervisor on this mission wanted to get to Dover early
<Kelos_al-Hazar> Ads, nothing. The last time I saw Opera, it died after 30 days...and wouldn't bloomin' go AWAY. Had to commit OS murder to get rid of it.
<hygilac> no tomatoes?! ack!!
<Wrengl> No tomatoes -- ThAT is a hardship
<scribbler> I can't eat tomatoes either, if they're raw; cooked or processed ones are fine, oddly enough....
<@KK> No raw tomatoes. But he can eat catsup and tomato sauce.
<hygilac> there is noting I love better than tomatoes fresh from the garden
<@Bynw> yes indeed.... raw matoes are YUMMY with a bit of salt
<Wrengl> Well at least he can eat tomato sauce.
<@KK> This must be a fairly common allergy.
<scribbler> Tomato allergies not that rare, I guess; a friend of mine has the same problem
<Jessie> per the pediatrician -- comes from feeding tomatoes to babies before they should have them
<Wrengl> They are also good with basil and fresh mozzarella cheese and olive oil.
<@KK> Yum, yes!
<hygilac> yes indeed
<Rebecca> Bynw. I love tomatoes the same way. Can't wait for July to get here!
<Kelos_al-Hazar> KK: What would be the correct, in period term for what we today call "quartermasters", please?
<Wrengl> I have to watch my tomato and citrus fruit consumption.
<scribbler> hmmm, Jessie....I'll have to ask my mom if I ate tomatoes as a baby....
<Jessie> tomatoes or tomato products too young
<@KK> I'd have to check that, Kelos.
<Jessie> Seneschal?
<Kelos_al-Hazar> Appreciate it, milady... :)
<Kelos_al-Hazar> For a religious order?
<Jessie> according to the Templar book I got
<JastaElf> stewards, maybe?
<@Bynw> if you are looking at the cam page... Tika is to the right of me...just out of range of the camera
<@KK> No, seneschal is more in charge of a castle or the like.
<Gamgee> If it's a person in charge of the belonging of a household, it would be Chattlain... but, you might want to check the spelling.
<@KK> Chatelaine.
<JastaElf> chatelaine female, castellan male
<@KK> Castellan is a good term. But I think quartermaster would not be far off, in the sense you're asking.
<Rebecca> Chris you need to turn the camera so we can see her! :)
<Kelos_al-Hazar> Castellan...hmmm...Jasta, this is sideways reference to Bro. Rhisiart's function...
<Kelos_al-Hazar> And please don't spoil the story for anyone. :)
<Wrengl> See you, Chris but not Tika
<JastaElf> Wouldn't think of doing so, hon. :-) yes, quartermaster probably works then by itself...
<@Bynw> look for the new pic its uploading now
<JastaElf> though there might be a more period term, just use QM for now.
<Kelos_al-Hazar> Even during that period?
<JastaElf> Replace is a valuable clark... :-)
<Kelos_al-Hazar> Ah... as a placeholder of sorts.
<JastaElf> yup.
<JastaElf> Bynw, CUTE pic... :-)
<scribbler> I was thinking about Nathan's function in CofC; trying to get my husband to bring me my copy out of my bookbag.....

<Jessie> hello John
<Rebecca> Chris get her to stop hiding

<@KK> I don't know how to do that.
<JastaElf> Hi john!
<@Bynw> Hiyas John
<Jessie> welcome John
<Jessie> jump in
<Rebecca> double click onto the web address
<JastaElf> Ask Jim for help, KK -- he should be up there somewhere.
<Jessie> how long have you been a Deryni fan John?
<@KK> Welcome, John, I promise we don't bite. :-)
<@Bynw> if you are using the JAVA chat please be careful not to knock yourself out of the chat when going to other web pages
<scribbler> just looked it up, and there was no title; I wonder if "provisioner" might be too generic?
<john> A Deryni fan for about 22 years.
<Jessie> good man ;-)
<scribbler> welcome John!
<Wrengl> About as long as I have!
<Jessie> where are you from John?
<Jessie> I'm from Missouri
<Kelos_al-Hazar> I was thinking "expediator", but that might not cover it either...
<john> Marshfield, Massachusetts
<Wrengl> I'm from Brooklyn, NY
<scribbler> me too....about 1 husband and 3 boyfriends ago..... 8-)
<scribbler> Jessie -- where in MO? I have relatives about 100 miles east of KC....
<Wrengl> One job ago!
<john> Katherine, I still owe you lobsters.
<Jessie> central portion
<@Bynw> one very long job ago you mean
<@Bynw> err you mean
<scribbler> BTW, Wrengl, how's retirement?
<Wrengl> Yup. Was introduced to the Deryni the week before I started at my former agency. Read the first five books in that one week.
<Wrengl> GREAT! I do, however, work ten hours a week for two more weeks to do what former boss never learned to do!
<@KK> LOL! Ah, <tht> Jihn. Welcome. :-)
<@Bynw> about like me reading the Adept books
<scribbler> I had a crush on a guy who worked at a bookstore, and hung out there to get him to notice me. A very expensive crush, if you ask me....
<Golux> Bynw: Did Tika tell you about the great place to buy wedding rings?
<Jessie> then I have been a fan longer than you Wrengl -- Camber of Culdi wasn't in print when I started reading Deryni
<@Bynw> target??
<Golux> You got it!

<Rebecca> I have it all Linda. And I'll be off, so I can edit it and post
<Wrengl> rehi Kelric
<hygilac> oh, don't edit!
<Golux> I stood there for about ten min. staring at the 10K wedding rings at Target. One set was for about $80!
<hygilac> give us all the good stuff!
<Rebecca> just the so and so had left/joined...
<Kelric> btw the place I found the first printing Camber of Culdi I mentioned, for those in the SF Bay area, is Feldman's books in Menlo Park.
<scribbler> you never said how the gaming went yesterday, Kelric...
<Golux> Roberta, I didn't finish the intro to Rising yesterday...
<scribbler> Ah-ha....
<Kelric> I thought I had said we almost had a TPK, IE Total Party Kill, and survived because we pulled a rabbit out of the hat so to speak.
<hygilac> I am jealous of the first printing of Cof C
<scribbler> I'll bring it up on July 1st if my husband and I come to the Stern Grove concert....
<hygilac> I had one I sent to England. . .
<Kelric> basically I got back about 30 minutes after the main missing person had appeared and they were in the first ambush of the day.
<Golux> A Vorpal rabbit?
<Rebecca> well, maybe you shouldn't've sent it...
<Wrengl> I found a hardcover of Adept One, from England since it was only paper here.
