Mar 27 19:08:00 <DesertRose>   Hi kK
Mar 27 19:08:04 <DesertRose>   Oops.  KK
Mar 27 19:08:05 <Evie>   hello, KK
Mar 27 19:08:09 <jemler>   At lteasr its on the right side of the river.
Mar 27 19:08:22 <Shiral>   Wow, I didn't even have time to bait the author traps with bittersweet chocolate Easter Eggs. =o)
Mar 27 19:08:23 <KK>   Hello, and Happy Easter, all.
Mar 27 19:08:43 <Shiral>   Happy Easter, KK
Mar 27 19:08:44 <Evie>   Happy Easter!
Mar 27 19:08:49 <DesertRose>   Happy Easter, KK!
Mar 27 19:08:49 <jemler>   Hi k, shiral
Mar 27 19:08:59 <Evie>   And Happy Easter from Duncan as well:  http://www.rhemuthcastle.com/index.php/topic,844.msg15029.html#msg15029
Mar 27 19:10:26 <DesertRose>   KK, I'm pretty sure it was earlier this month, but did Scott have a good birthday?
Mar 27 19:10:36 <jemler>   The hospital made me a cake too!
Mar 27 19:10:48 <KK>   Nicely done, Evie.  And I say to Duncan, Alleluia, Christ is risen!
Mar 27 19:11:04 <DesertRose>   If you had to be in the hospital for your birthday, the least they could do was cake, jemler.  ;)
Mar 27 19:11:09 <Evie>   Vere resurrexit, alleluia, he says back.  :-D
Mar 27 19:11:10 <Shiral>   Happy Birthday, Jemler!
Mar 27 19:11:13 <KK>   Poor Scott was down with a nasty cold and cough for his birthday, so we delayed the celebration.
Mar 27 19:11:20 <DesertRose>   Ugh.  That's no fun.
Mar 27 19:11:23 <Shiral>   Plus one day
Mar 27 19:11:27 <DesertRose>   Is he better now?
Mar 27 19:11:27 <Evie>   No fun at all
Mar 27 19:11:35 <Evie>   jemler, glad you could have cake on your birthday
Mar 27 19:11:42 <KK>   He's fine now, and about to start back at the gym tomorrow.
Mar 27 19:11:47 <DesertRose>   Good to hear.
Mar 27 19:12:08 <KK>   Jemler, a belated happy birthday.  And are you still in hospital, or did they spring you at last?
Mar 27 19:12:09 <Shiral>   Too bad for Scott, but as we become adults, we can be more easily flexible about when we observe our birthdays
Mar 27 19:12:31 *   mr_wibble (Mibbit@OWIRCN-860d1fc1.ma.comcast.net) has joined
Mar 27 19:12:32 <KK>   Yep.  For adults, birthdays are mostly another day.
Mar 27 19:12:37 <DesertRose>   Hi Bee.
Mar 27 19:12:39 <Evie>   Kids like me can be flexible too
Mar 27 19:12:41 <Evie>   ;-)
Mar 27 19:12:47 <mr_wibble>   Hi All
Mar 27 19:12:47 <Shiral>   Hi Bee
Mar 27 19:12:55 <Evie>   hi wibble-Bee
Mar 27 19:12:55 <KK>   Hi, Bee.
Mar 27 19:12:56 *   mr_wibble is now known as The_Bee
Mar 27 19:13:04 <jemler>   In the hosp. Moving me tomorrow.
Mar 27 19:13:06 <revanne>   hi
Mar 27 19:13:07 <Shiral>   I think birthday celebrations can be stretched out for at least a week. =o)
Mar 27 19:13:12 <The_Bee>   to where?
Mar 27 19:13:18 <KK>   Aw, I rather like mr_wibble.
Mar 27 19:13:37 <KK>   Excellent news, Jemler.
Mar 27 19:13:42 <DesertRose>   My birthday celebration got delayed this year too, but that was because my stepdad was in the hospital being ill and eventually ending up having to have his gallbladder removed.
Mar 27 19:13:42 <The_Bee>   He's a little too wobbly.
Mar 27 19:14:02 <jemler>   Mother brought mac salad today. Toss  between kfc slaw ans moms mas salad.
Mar 27 19:14:21 <KK>   Bummer, DR.  But when a gall bladder is seriously acting up, it's a profound relief to have it out.
Mar 27 19:15:05 <DesertRose>   Yeah, and apparently his had been giving him grief for a while because once he recovered from the surgery, he started feeling better than he has in quite a while.
Mar 27 19:16:01 <Shiral>   Hopefully one WOULD feel better after abdominal surgery
Mar 27 19:16:11 <The_Bee>   How long did it take you to recover, KK?
Mar 27 19:16:14 <DesertRose>   He was a bear while he was recovering though, because he expected to bounce right back, and we kept having to remind him that, he's 67 years old and it takes a little more time to recover the older you get.
Mar 27 19:16:52 <KK>   That was certainly my experience, and Scott's.  And keyhole surgery, these days, makes it really easy.  Plus, modern anaesthesias are great.
Mar 27 19:17:10 <KK>   A couple of days, Bee.
Mar 27 19:17:19 <DesertRose>   Yes, he had the laparoscopic procedure, so just four little incisions, not a giant zipper across his side like in the "old days."
Mar 27 19:18:32 <DesertRose>   My DD and I have both already had to have ours out; mine came out when I was about 25 and DD's when she was I think 17, and he was comparing his recovery time to ours, and we were like, um, no.
Mar 27 19:21:34 <revanne>   sorry amgoing to call it I night as keep dozing off.Happy Easter everyone.
Mar 27 19:21:38 <DesertRose>   G'night, revanne
Mar 27 19:21:45 <DesertRose>   Happy Easter!
Mar 27 19:21:45 <Evie>   My DD has started her new job, and one of the perks is that she can have a free pizza or salad with every shift she works, so I predict myself growing the size of a barge
Mar 27 19:21:54 <The_Bee>   bye revane. glad you came
Mar 27 19:21:55 <Evie>   Goodnight, revanne!
Mar 27 19:22:05 <Evie>   Sleep off that time shift!
Mar 27 19:22:14 <KK>   Nighters, Revanne.  You've earned your sleep.
Mar 27 19:22:26 *   revanne has quit (Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client)
Mar 27 19:22:27 <jemler>   Night revavve
Mar 27 19:22:32 <Evie>   I think demercia packed it in several hours ago
Mar 27 19:22:46 <jemler>   Sorry revanne.
Mar 27 19:22:46 <Shiral>   Oops, Missed Revanne
Mar 27 19:22:48 <DesertRose>   Demercia had to take the sunrise service this morning, so yeah, probably.
Mar 27 19:22:59 <KK>   Easter is possibly the busiest time of the year for priests.
Mar 27 19:23:14 <Evie>   Very busy week and then a time change on Easter Sunday doesn't help with getting rest if you're clergy
Mar 27 19:23:39 <DesertRose>   Yeah, I was chatting with Demercia last night and commiserating about what rotten timing that is.
Mar 27 19:23:51 <Shiral>   I suppose it could have been worse--"Spring Forward" might have happened THIS weekend.
Mar 27 19:23:59 <DesertRose>   It did in the UK.
Mar 27 19:24:03 <Evie>   It did for them!
Mar 27 19:24:07 <Shiral>   Ugh!
Mar 27 19:24:21 <Shiral>   I blame Henry VIII
Mar 27 19:24:24 <DesertRose>   LOL
Mar 27 19:24:30 <Evie>   LOL
Mar 27 19:24:46 <The_Bee>   I was surprised at having the change mid-month.
Mar 27 19:24:51 <Evie>   Not sure Henry knew anything about daylight savings time, but let's blame him anyway.  :-D
Mar 27 19:25:20 <Shiral>   Too late for the Big Guy to object. =o)
Mar 27 19:25:21 <DesertRose>   He's certainly to blame for there being a Church of England, anyway.  :)
Mar 27 19:25:37 <Evie>   There's that
Mar 27 19:25:53 <Shiral>   That's what I meant by "I blame Henry VIII"
Mar 27 19:26:13 <Evie>   If it weren't for him, there'd still be a united Church of Gwyne...oh, wait.  Never mind.
Mar 27 19:26:43 <DesertRose>   But pretty much all Christian churches with the possible exception of Eastern Orthodox are celebrating Easter today, so I'm not sure why old Henry is to blame.  :P
Mar 27 19:26:45 *   Jerusha (Mibbit@OWIRCN-30e0a209.dsl.bell.ca) has joined
Mar 27 19:26:50 <DesertRose>   Hi Jerusha
Mar 27 19:26:55 <The_Bee>   hi jerusha
Mar 27 19:26:58 <Shiral>   So...what would happen if there were two Archbishops in Gwynedd who were NOT allies?
Mar 27 19:27:02 <Shiral>   Hi Jerusha
Mar 27 19:27:07 <Jerusha>   Hi Everyone!  And Hi Jemler!
Mar 27 19:27:15 <Evie>   So, this past Saturday was my first time serving on Altar Guild, and at last I was able to enter our sacristy.  Alas, there was no telltale tingle of the linoleum when I walked in.  I suppose that's because my church isn't a cathedral.  Bummer.
Mar 27 19:27:23 <DesertRose>   Things could get really ugly, I bet, Shiral.
Mar 27 19:27:29 <Evie>   I was so hoping to be able to pop up in Lichfield!  ;-)
Mar 27 19:27:36 <Shiral>   Might be too recent a church, Evie. =o)
Mar 27 19:27:59 <Evie>   Naaah, Shiral, I'm sure it couldn't be that.  ;-)
Mar 27 19:28:07 <jemler>   Hi jerusha
Mar 27 19:28:15 <Jerusha>   Hi Jemler
Mar 27 19:28:15 <Shiral>   A serious Deryni Shortage in Alabama, then?
Mar 27 19:28:32 <Jerusha>   No Camber tile on the floor?
Mar 27 19:28:49 <Evie>   I don't know if there's a shortage or if they're just hiding.  But no one has ever told me that they're Deryni. Not once.  Sad.
Mar 27 19:29:00 <Evie>   No, just linoleum.
Mar 27 19:29:09 <Jerusha>   Maybe they are waiting for the right moment
Mar 27 19:29:13 <Evie>   Non-tingly linoleum
Mar 27 19:29:28 <Shiral>   So clearly, far too few Deryni who own a company that can do flooring
Mar 27 19:29:29 <Jerusha>   Linoleum is rarely tingly
Mar 27 19:29:39 <Evie>   Maybe the Cathedral of the Advent downtown has a TP
Mar 27 19:30:00 <Evie>   You could be right, Shiral.  That could be the problem right there.
Mar 27 19:30:11 <DesertRose>   Carys has awakened from her dedicated afternoon nap to demand attention.
Mar 27 19:30:11 <Jerusha>   I have this awful thought of Father Joram coming in to do flooring
Mar 27 19:30:14 <KK>   So they've let you into the sacristy, eh?  Did Duncan come with you?  (I assume that the powers-that-be do know about the Littles.  Or do they?  Someone <must> have seen you taking the occasional picture.)
Mar 27 19:30:17 <Evie>   maybe that's what I should do as a second career.
Mar 27 19:30:22 <Shiral>   "Pardon me, Ma'am, but WHY are you on your hands and knees passing your hands over the cathedral floor? Did you lose an earring?"
Mar 27 19:30:50 <Evie>   Oh, yes, they know about the Littles.  Duncan and Helena came to church in my purse this morning, but I forgot my phone, so I couldn't take Easter portraits there
Mar 27 19:31:25 <Jerusha>   Phone forgotten, but Duncan and Helena remembered.  :)
Mar 27 19:31:31 <Evie>   But the photo of Duncan in the purple chasuble was taken at the narthex doors
Mar 27 19:31:53 <The_Bee>   Our transfer portal is disguised as an elevator, but it hasn't been working lately.  It may be a trap portal.
Mar 27 19:32:02 <Evie>   LOL, Jerusha, only because I packed them the night before, but forgot to take my phone off the charger the next morning
Mar 27 19:32:13 <Evie>   Oh dear, Bee!
Mar 27 19:32:34 <KK>   Evie, what's the actual silhouette of Helena's new hat/cap?  It's new, isn't it?  Her Ester bonnet?
Mar 27 19:32:45 <Jerusha>   Shall I send Bishop Arilan over to fix it, Bee?
Mar 27 19:33:04 <Evie>   My home's Transfer Portal is disguised as a gray tabby.  She keeps picking up small objects in one room of the house and depositing them in another.
Mar 27 19:33:26 <Evie>   Yes, it's basically like a fillet worn over a wimple and veil
Mar 27 19:33:27 <Jerusha>   :)
Mar 27 19:33:48 <Evie>   like a fillet and barbette style headdress, only worn with a full wimple
Mar 27 19:34:34 <KK>   Ah, I see.  Looks nice, though.
Mar 27 19:34:53 <The_Bee>   Pics, please?
Mar 27 19:35:18 <Evie>   I need to update the Action Figure thread; I could have sworn I had uploaded a photo of it without the wimple around Christmas, when I made her cyclas, but I guess not
Mar 27 19:36:19 <Jerusha>   Any word on the Road to Killingford, KK?
Mar 27 19:36:27 <The_Bee>   What are cyclas?
Mar 27 19:37:05 <Evie>   Scrolling through my Flickr photos to see if I can find a picture for you
Mar 27 19:37:33 <KK>   Haven't gotten around to writing up the proposal yet, though I think I know how I want it to go.
Mar 27 19:37:41 <Jerusha>   Excellent
Mar 27 19:37:57 <Jerusha>   I am looking forward to it
Mar 27 19:39:44 <The_Bee>   as are we all
Mar 27 19:39:44 <Jerusha>   Jerusha waves a dark chocolate easter egg to renew discussion
Mar 27 19:39:56 <Evie>   Here, Bee, this style of overdress: https://www.flickr.com/gp/9573389@N08/ndDg87
Mar 27 19:41:00 <Jerusha>   Classical medieval dress and a cheeseburger
Mar 27 19:41:02 <Evie>   And that photo shows the fillet and barbette without the wimple or veil.  I used the barbette as a veil band to pin the veil and wimple to in the Easter photo, so it's hidden under the other layers.
Mar 27 19:41:02 <The_Bee>   Thanks, evie.  interesting headgear
Mar 27 19:41:49 <Evie>   LOL, yes, Jerusha.  I love to mix in modern stuff with my medieval.  The Mini-Deryni seem to enjoy the cultural exchange.  ;-)
Mar 27 19:41:58 <DesertRose>   Sorry I went quiet.  Little Miss Purr decided it was Pet Carys Now time.
Mar 27 19:42:05 <Jerusha>   They want fries with that
Mar 27 19:42:16 <The_Bee>   Hello, Carys
Mar 27 19:42:31 <jemler>    Gotta go folks. Moving me tomorrow.
Mar 27 19:42:33 <Jerusha>   Jerusha sends a scritch for Caryl
Mar 27 19:42:38 <Jerusha>   Carys, I meant
Mar 27 19:42:42 <Shiral>   Night, Jemler. HOpe all goes well!
Mar 27 19:42:43 <DesertRose>   Okay, see you later, jemler.  Good luck!
Mar 27 19:42:53 <Jerusha>   Night Jemler, have a good week
Mar 27 19:42:55 <DesertRose>   Carys purrs at you, Jerusha.
Mar 27 19:43:16 <Evie>   bye for now, jemler
Mar 27 19:43:19 <Evie>   Happy birthday
Mar 27 19:43:28 <KK>   Good luck, Jemler.
Mar 27 19:43:40 <The_Bee>   nighters, Jemler. balated happy birthday
Mar 27 19:44:22 <Shiral>   In that Photo, Helena looks a little like she'd just beamed down from the Enterprise, only to realize the Federation really  know what medieval headcoverings looked like
Mar 27 19:44:27 <jemler>   Thanks for the wishes!
Mar 27 19:44:34 *   jemler has quit (Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client)
Mar 27 19:44:39 <Evie>   LOL
Mar 27 19:44:52 <Shiral>   Really DOESN
Mar 27 19:44:59 <Shiral>   DOESN'T know, I mean
Mar 27 19:45:14 <Evie>   Funny you should mention that, since in that series of photos I had another figure wearing a Star Trek uniform!
Mar 27 19:45:43 <Shiral>   "We've GOT to stop using this space-age silver fabric...
Mar 27 19:45:50 <Jerusha>   I'd beam up, Scotty, but I have this long skirt tangled around my ankles
Mar 27 19:46:11 <DesertRose>   LOL
Mar 27 19:46:54 <Shiral>   "Scotty, they'll burn me as a heretic! Beam me up NOW!" "Captain, about that raise we were discussing...."
Mar 27 19:46:55 <Evie>   It was from this story I did for Duncan's birthday:  http://www.rhemuthcastle.com/index.php/topic,1681.msg14733.html#msg14733
Mar 27 19:47:09 <Evie>   LOL, Shiral!
Mar 27 19:48:18 <Evie>   This is the approximate look I was going for: http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-eOlsqsCQ0sY/UphrjsH4bAI/AAAAAAAAA4M/9bPKRr_Dhyo/s1600/CodPalgerm848_fol_032v.png
Mar 27 19:49:07 <Evie>   Or better yet, https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/236x/8b/a6/8f/8ba68fc1ba135882c7376a5a99465e32.jpg, since in that one you can see the cyclas as well
Mar 27 19:49:31 <Jerusha>   I got an error on that one, Evie
Mar 27 19:50:03 <The_Bee>   me too
Mar 27 19:50:05 <Evie>   Drat.  Well, just imagine a lady in a rose colored sleeveless gown wearing a pork pie on her head.  ;-)
Mar 27 19:50:35 <Jerusha>   Pass the eating knife
Mar 27 19:50:47 <Jerusha>   :)
Mar 27 19:51:13 <Evie>   Here, found it on Pinterest:  https://www.pinterest.com/pin/15833036166508887/
Mar 27 19:52:04 <Jerusha>   I wonder how comfortable they were
Mar 27 19:52:31 <Evie>   Probably more so than a wimple in hot weather, since wimples are really hot
Mar 27 19:52:43 <Evie>   says she who has tried to wear one in the Alabama summer
Mar 27 19:53:13 <Jerusha>   Decorum did not worry about the comfort of medieval ladies
Mar 27 19:53:23 <Evie>   In some photos, there is a coif worn underneath
Mar 27 19:53:44 <The_Bee>   It's the undergarments that make the heat uncomfortable.
Mar 27 19:54:04 <Evie>   So you could probably pin the barbette (chin strap bit) loosely to the coif, and also adjust the fit of the fillet to your comfort
Mar 27 19:54:22 <Evie>   So comfort might just depend on whether they fit your head properly
Mar 27 19:54:58 <Jerusha>   Why does it make me think of my chin in traction?
Mar 27 19:55:14 <Evie>   And undergarments don't have to be uncomfortable, though using period materials is pretty much key, since synthetics tend to trap body heat and moisture
Mar 27 19:55:16 <KK>   That's a cool pinterest spot, Evie.
Mar 27 19:55:25 <Evie>   I love Pinterest.  :-)
Mar 27 19:56:26 <KK>   I think the key to wearable veils and such is natural fabrics--though it still can get hot.
Mar 27 19:56:55 <DesertRose>   I've been thinking about trying to sew some St. Brigitta's caps for myself, but the thought of the gathering or itteh-bitteh pleats is daunting.
Mar 27 19:57:21 <KK>   Yike, I've got to dash.  Madame Secretary starts at 8.  (I think it must be about to the end of the season, very soon.  But so far, this is still new.)  I really like this series.
Mar 27 19:57:24 <Evie>   Though when it comes to medieval costumes, if you are going for an actual period look, then it helps to have a good eye for real medieval vs fantasy medieval. Unless you don't mind breaking the fashion rules, in which case some fantasy medieval can pass for close enough to period to look really nice.  I tend to be a rule-bender, but I like to know the rules I'm bending.
Mar 27 19:57:28 <DesertRose>   I've found that being dark-haired, wearing a light-colored headdress (as long as it's not tight) is actually cooler.

Mar 27 19:57:47 <DesertRose>   Thanks for coming to see us!
Mar 27 19:57:48 <Evie>   Goodnight, KK
Mar 27 19:57:48 <Shiral2>   Bye, KK
Mar 27 19:57:53 <KK>   Next week, it's 5 rather than 7!
Mar 27 19:57:55 <DesertRose>   Yup!
Mar 27 19:57:57 <Shiral2>   Darn...Stupid internet hiccup
Mar 27 19:58:08 <Evie>   My veil and wimple are linen, but I still ditch the wimple in summer
Mar 27 19:58:08 <KK>   Byeeee....
Mar 27 19:58:10 <DesertRose>   See you then! Happy Easter!

"If having a soul means being able to feel love, loyalty, and gratitude, then animals are better off than a lot of humans."

James Herriot (James Alfred "Alfie" Wight), when a human client asked him if animals have souls.  (I don't remember in which book the story originally appeared.)
