Prayers for my DH
« on: November 21, 2019, 07:25:06 am »
Once you are over 60 over here in the UK every two years there is routine screening for bowel cancer. Quite unexpectedly, as he had had no symptoms, this showed up a problem for my DS and he had a colonoscopy last week which showed a small area of cancerous tissue. I knew something was wrong while waiting for the consultant as they offered me a cup of tea - always a bad sign in the NHS!. He has a scan booked for next Monday to see if there is cancer anywhere else - if not it will be a straightforward bit of surgery with no need for follow- up treatment. So far I'm not thinking beyond that so prayers and good thoughts much welcomed.
Let God rise up, let his enemies be scattered;
    let those who hate him flee before him.
As smoke is driven away, so drive them away;
    as wax melts before the fire,
    let the wicked perish before God.
(Psalm 68 vv1-2)

Good thoughts coming your way that all will be straightforward and recovery will be smooth for your DH.

Holding y'all up and hoping that it's the straightforward surgery, since that's the best option under the circumstances, and hoping that he has an easy and speedy recovery.

And I think it's wise of you not to think beyond that; I believe the saying goes, "don't borrow trouble."

To the good, you live where there IS a NHS! And it sounds like they have caught it early, which is always better when the C-monster rears its ugly head.  Sending you all prayers and good wishes for the best possible outcome for your DH and you and your family, Revanne. May this be just a mere blip on his health radar.

Just the wait between here and Monday is going to be a hard one. Bolster your thoughts and energy toward a good healthy outcome. Doctors(at least the ones here) always  list off the worst case along with the best case to cover themselves. Stick to the best case scenario (which is always the most common) and all will be well soon.
My warmest healing thoughts go out to you and your DH until you can get that good news.

Sending prayers & good thoughts that it will just be a small spot that can be removed quickly and safely with minimum recovery time.

The good news is that there is no sign of cancer anywhere else. DH's operation is due for next Tuesday. More of his bowel needs to be removed than I realised, due to the need to ensure a blood supply to what is left. There is a 50/50 chance he will need a stoma bag at least in the short-term but we are hoping not, and an outside chance of follow-up chemo if the lymph nodes are at all infected.

The health service has been at it's most efficient and supportive and family, friends and church are there for us.

Let God rise up, let his enemies be scattered;
    let those who hate him flee before him.
As smoke is driven away, so drive them away;
    as wax melts before the fire,
    let the wicked perish before God.
(Psalm 68 vv1-2)

That is good news, revanne.  Hope all goes well and that no further issues need to be addressed.  My thoughts are with you, your DH and family.

Am thrilled to hear that there are no signs of cancer anywhere else. Sending prayers, hugs and healing for the procedure next week. You and your DH and your family will be in my prayers through this process and I will be hoping for the best outcome. As you know my DH had a similar problem so I know what is involved. He is doing well now and I know your DH will also.
