Title: What is a Community Supporter?
Post by: Bynw on April 30, 2020, 11:56:11 AM
A Community Supporter has graciously given a donation* of funds to the community to help pay for the operational costs of running the forums and chat services of the Rhemuth Castle community.

From domain name registration renewals, through all the hosting hardware and software costs, and the security certificates, bandwidth used, and offsite backups. These and other behind the curtain aspects keep the community available and running smoothly and help keep downtime to a minimum in the case of trouble.

Right now we are looking at expanding the Community Supporter program with future enhancements and features.

And we have just added 2 additional ways to donate and become a Community Supporter.

Click on your Profile in the forum menu. There are 3 options presented on your Profile summary page. Profile Info, Modify Profile, and Actions.

Under Actions you will find a link to Paid Subscriptions. This will open up a page with 2 Community Supporter options. A Community Supporter at a fixed rate of $25 a month. Or a Zoom Supporter at a fixed rate of $15 a month.

We have added this 2nd option because of the possible need to hold a virtual meeting with Zoom. In order to have a large group over a longer period of time requires a paid subscription to the Zoom service.

Both of these options are automated. Any member using them will automatically be added to the Community Supporter group on the forums and gain the benefits associated by the forum software for being a Community Supporter.

If these fixed amount options don't meet your needs there is a Donation link at the top of the forum. Here you can choose any amount as a one-time donation or choose to give on an reoccurring basis as well. This isn't an automated option please let an Admin know so we can add you manually to the Community Supporter group.

The perks of being a Community Supporter are in flux. We are always looking for additional perks we can give back in thanks to those members who are able to give to the community.

*donations are not tax deductible

Sorry to be dim, but how do those of us who don't operate in US dollars contribute

Demercia - if you go through PayPal it converts the money for you. I have started process but need to check with my husband which account he wants me to use first. PayPal is converting $25 to £20.97 at moment.

All of the options process through Paypal so it will automatically convert for you and let you know what it is in your local currency options.
