[18:07] <jemler> hi KK
[18:07] <Evie> hi, KK
[18:07] <Alkari> ANd hat if they don't show good stuff around the world at the same time, people are going to pirate it
[18:07] <KK> Hello, all.
[18:07] <Alkari> Hi KK
[18:07] <the_Bee> hi KK!
[18:07] <Alkari> So I will check when Once Upon a Time starts here :)
[18:07] <~bynw> Hi KK
[18:07] <KK> It starts at 8 PM here.
[18:07] <jemler> hi bynw
[18:07] <the_Bee> and we promise not to spoil it for you.
[18:07] <KK> And it's a new episode.
[18:07] <Alkari> We are nearly a year behind you, KK
[18:08] <jemler> about 55min
[18:08] <Evie> jemler, here's the recipe, only I use craisins instead of currants, and I add a can of garbanzo beans (aka chick peas): http://www.food.com/recipe/million-dollar-chicken-moroccan-style-50575
[18:08] <KK> Evie, even the tail end of that recipe sounds yummy!
[18:08] <Alkari> The idiots who run cable TV here in Austraolia somehow don't think we always deserve to get good shows at the same time as Northernhemisphere.
[18:08] <Evie> It's absolutely wonderful, especially served over a flavored couscous
[18:09] <Evie> I usually serve it with a lightly curry-flavored couscous and with balsamic green beans with freshly grated Parmesan on the side.
[18:09] <jemler> have you ever considered just using breast meat?
[18:10] <Evie> I've tried using breast meat but it comes out much drier.  For this recipe you really want to use thighs for fullest flavor and juiciness
[18:10] <KK> I suspect it might be too dry.  Thigh meat is juicier.
[18:10] <jemler> ah, ok
[18:11] <the_Bee> that's why I prefer leg meat for nearly every chicken recipe.
[18:11] <KK> I am happily anticipating leftovers from our dinner party last night: veal marsala with wild rice and gingered carrots.  It was yummy--and I didn't have to cook it.
[18:11] <Evie> My DD says to tell you that bacon and Nutella are also good together.  I'll have to take her word for that.
[18:11] <Evie> Yum!
[18:11] <Alkari> lol
[18:12] <KK> I'll take your word for it.
[18:12] <Alkari> No a combination I would have tried :D
[18:12] <KK> I'd never have thought of it.
[18:12] <the_Bee> []]]]]]]]'[p;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;l
[18:12] <KK> Ah, it's a cat come to chat.
[18:12] <Evie> Nor would I, although my DH said he had chocolate and bacon together at the last SCA event he went to and it was surprisingly good
[18:12] <Alkari> I don';t think I've ever even had Nutella in the house.
[18:13] <Evie> yes, Melantha's had a lot to say tonight
[18:13] <KK> Nutella is rather good, actually.  Hazelnut and chocolate.
[18:13] <jemler> graham crackers, nutella, marshmallow cream = s'mores!
[18:13] <Alkari> I don't think I should try it.  I'dhate to become addicted  :D
[18:14] <Alkari> THAT is too sweet, jemler.
[18:14] <Evie> KK, I'm still going through that treasure trove you sent to me.  Thank you!
[18:14] <Evie> I should be getting a Kelson next week, so he'll especially appreciate the cloth of gold
[18:15] <Evie> DD doesn't think it's too sweet, jemler.  She just said YUM
[18:15] <Evie> and "That's amazing!"
[18:15] <KK> Tee-hee.  And I doscovered that I'd left out the stash of grey silky fabric, perfect for veils, and the stash of brown crushed velvet.  THey'll go out tomorrow, so you can look for another, smaller carepackage by the end of hte week.
[18:16] <KK> The Irish princess sounds interesting.  (I've been keeping up with progress on the websire.)
[18:16] <jemler> DD's got taste
[18:16] <Alkari> She is going to have an entire Deryni world in actionfigures
[18:16] <Evie> LOL!  Thank you again, then!  I already went out today and bought a nice collapsible-sided tote basket for all my fabric and trim bits because they were starting to take over the corner I had all my bits and bobs stored in.  :D
[18:16] <the_Bee> ./';;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;./;' Melantha's decided to let me do my own typing for a while.
[18:16] <Evie> I have a picture of her on my Flickr, just not in the thread yet.  Hang on and let me find my photostream....
[18:17] <Evie> LOL...Good, Bee
[18:17] <jemler> you should get her her own computer, or would she try to eat the mouse?
[18:17] <the_Bee> The cloth sounds lovely, KK and Evie.

[18:17] <jemler> hi DR
[18:17] <Alkari> Hi DR
[18:17] <the_Bee> Actually, she's been known to lick the mouse.
[18:17] <~DesertRose> Hey y'all. Just looked at the time and thought, "Oh crap.  Chat."
[18:17] <the_Bee> Hi DR
[18:17] <jemler> i have the log DR. i'll send it to you.
[18:18] <~DesertRose> Thanks.  :)
[18:18] <KK> Is it cold where anyone else is?  THey're predicting more rain and possible snow tomorrow!  In April!
[18:18] <~DesertRose> No, it's quite warm here.
[18:18] <jemler> it's 49 here, snow for tomorrow i guess
[18:18] <the_Bee> We're having much-needed rain here in Massachusetts.
[18:19] <KK> It's 43 here; hasn't gone above 44 today.
[18:19] <KK> I have stayed snug and warm inside.
[18:19] <the_Bee> 50s here
[18:19] <Alkari> overcast and mild here in Sydney - 20C
[18:20] <the_Bee> That's right, it's your autumn.
[18:20] <Evie> OK, I just added two pictures to my Flickr set for the Action Figures thread (this is where I store the photos that I link to on the Forum): http://www.flickr.com/photos/9573389@N08/sets/72157629612856907/with/7101279085/
[18:20] <jemler> American translation 68F
[18:20] <KK> Scott, on the other hand, was out with Rolls Royces today, and managed to have his phone fall out of his pocket in a car that remained behind in Charlottesville, so he most drive pack to C'vill in a bit and rescue it.  But better than losing the phone, with all its vital contacts.
[18:20] <Alkari> Yes, and April-May is usually a good time of year here.
[18:21] <the_Bee> I like spring and fall better than summer or winter.
[18:21] <Evie> wow.  how far a drive back is it?
[18:21] <Alkari> Oh no!  AT least he knows 'where' he lost it and can go back and get it
[18:21] <the_Bee> I hope no one else has found and "adopted" it.
[18:21] <Evie> KK, the Irish Princess Barbie is the next to the last pic on that link I just posted above. And make sure you check the last picture also. :D
[18:22] <KK> No, the phone is rescued and waiting.  It's just the 2 hours of driving in the rain to retrieve it.
[18:22] <Evie> unfortunately I didn't get the costume that the mint-in-box Irish Princess Barbie came with, but I also didn't have to pay $65 or more for a MIB doll
[18:23] <KK> Evie, one must ask: Where did our DH find the tiny cowboy hats?!
[18:23] <Evie> Michael's Craft store, though I forget why we originally had them
[18:23] <Evie> I think it was for my "squashed fairy" project i did a few years ago
[18:24] <Alkari> Cowboy Duncan - love it!
[18:24] <Evie> I did a flat fairy out of Sculpey, dressed her in a steampunk aviator's outfit, and made her look like she'd been struck down with a flyswatter
[18:24] <the_Bee> Who would want to squash a fairy?
[18:24] <KK> Actually, I'd read about the Irish Princess's adventure at the hair salon.  I didn't realize one could do that with synthetic hair, or that conditioner did any thing to vinyl.
[18:24] <jemler> maybe they were props from a movie called 'Terror of Tiny own' (1938, all midgets cast!)
[18:24] * jemler ducks
[18:24] <Evie> I didn't either until I started reading up on doll stuff
[18:25] <Evie> but apparently that's standard procedure in the doll restoring and customizing world

[18:25] <Evie> I was actually trying to figure out how to curl and style doll hair when I found that bit
[18:25] <jemler> hi JOJO
[18:25] <KK> The DVD on how to repaint on vinyl also sounded interesting.  Amazing, the stuff that turns up when one starts to get into a new hobby.
[18:25] <the_Bee> howdy jojo
[18:25] <Alkari> hello jojo
[18:26] <jojo> howdy all!
[18:26] <KK> Hi, jojo.
[18:26] <~DesertRose> Hi jojo.  :)
[18:26] <Evie> It is.  There are several online tutorials, some of higher quality than others, but this woman does well enough to make a living at her art, so i figured it would be worth checking out
[18:26] <KK> Clearly, hte world of miniatures can become addictive.
[18:27] <Evie> plus I liked the fact that this particular tutorial shows how to do doll face-ups that are fully reversible if you mess up the results
[18:27] <KK> Faceups?
[18:27] <Evie> I've always wanted to have a miniature Tudor house or castle, but I don't have space in my basement for that yet
[18:28] <Evie> That's what they call the facial repaint
[18:28] <KK> Ah.  Yes, I remember you said something about being able to remove the pain with alcohol, if it didn't turn out well.
[18:28] <KK> p[aint, actually.  Don't know about the pain.
[18:29] <KK> paint.
[18:29] <Evie> LOL!  And when you stop  drinking you can remove the paint with it too. :D
[18:29] <KK> (rented fingers)
[18:29] <the_Bee> Aspirin is batter for removing pain.
[18:29] <Evie> DD is having a fit of giggles at us
[18:29] <the_Bee> 80-proof alcohol works pretty well too.
[18:29] <jemler> why?
[18:30] <Evie> I  promise not to get so distraught over my action figures' faces that I have to drown the pain in alcohol.  ;-)
[18:31] <Alkari> Duncan would say it's a waste of good Fianna wine
[18:31] <Evie> though I might get that distraught over the price of the collection if it grows much bigger.  :D
[18:32] <the_Bee> Is there much rivalry between Fianna and Vezaire over their wines?
[18:32] <jemler> whining over wine?
[18:33] * Alkari waves frozen trout at jemler
[18:33] <the_Bee> "Ours is better than yours!"
[18:33] <KK> I

[18:33] <jemler> your is better than ours! 'that confuse the hell out of them!'
[18:33] <KK> I'm sure there's rivalry.  After all, it's commerce.
[18:34] <Evie> I keep hearing banging sounds through the wall.  DH is repairing a leaky shower fixture and has decided to replace the entire assembly I think
[18:34] <jojo> KK, how has the writing been lately?

[18:36] <the_Bee> jojo beware!! Your evil twin is here!
[18:36] <Alkari> identity crisis
[18:37] <KK> I'm back in the groove.  Alaric is with the king just now, visiting in Llannedd, and word has just arrived that Archbishop Tollendal has passed away--which means that a new archbishop must be elected.  Anyone care to guess who it will be?
[18:37] <jemler> split personality
[18:37] <jojo2> first time to try irc on my smartphone
[18:37] <jemler> no thanks, i just ate! :)
[18:37] <Evie> Will it be some younger dude named Loris?
[18:37] * DesertRose (~DesertRose@DesertRose.Editor.Writer.Creator) Quit ( Quit: DesertRose fades away. )
[18:38] <Alkari> Doesn't sounbd good for Alaric  :(
[18:38] <KK> Not Loris.
[18:38] <the_Bee> Loris wasn't that young, was he? He was quite a bit olderthan Alaric, IIRC.
[18:38] <Evie> Is this around the time when Dowager Queen Richeldis returned to her brother's Court?
[18:38] <Alkari> I hope at least you have given him a sypathetic bishop in Coroth
[18:39] * jojo (Mibbit@OWIRCN-f5dbcfe4.pools.spcsdns.net) Quit ( Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client )
[18:39] <KK> Which bishop hates Alaric's guts the most?
[18:39] <Evie> I meant younger during Alaric's childhood years than he was in the later books where we first met him, Bee
[18:39] <Evie> Oh...DeNore?
[18:39] <KK> Yep.
[18:40] <Evie> Lovely
[18:40] <jemler> 1 good thing in his favor: He ordained Duncan.
[18:40] <jojo2> boo hisss
[18:40] <KK> Fortunately, his nasty nephew has left the royal court to serve in his uncle's court, so at least that annoyance has been removed from Alaric's immediate vicinity.
[18:41] <Evie> De Nore ordained Duncan? :D
[18:41] <Evie> There's irony for you!
[18:41] <Evie> Is he spinning in his grave now ululating at high pitch? :D
[18:41] <Alkari> there mustbe several rabid bishops and archbishops rotating in their graves by now
[18:41] <jemler> TQfSC. when Duncan confessed about being Deryni after Kelson's return.
[18:41] <the_Bee> Remind me:  what uncle andwhat court?
[18:43] <Evie> I shut the door to keep out the cats.  Instead now I'm surrounded by my kids, all piled on the bed and being distracting.
[18:43] <Evie> And NOW here come the cats too
[18:43] <KK> The great gat/kid invasion!
[18:43] <KK> cat/kid
[18:44] <Evie> The cats got a new litter box today.  Luke was thrilled with the entire assembly process.
[18:44] <the_Bee> Did he try to help?
[18:45] <Evie> Oh, yes, he was the self-designated inspector
[18:45] <KK> And test-user, I'll warrant.
[18:45] <Alkari> Why do cats need to snooopervise everything?
[18:45] <Evie> Oh yes. Within 30 seconds of the box being put in place and filled with litter
[18:46] <KK> Because they're cats.
[18:46] <Alkari> LOL - yes.  They Have to Know
[18:46] <~bynw> the same reason that cats dont have owners they have staff
[18:46] <KK> I need to clean our cat boxes tomorrow.  Joy.
[18:46] <Alkari> no, they have slaves.
[18:46] <Evie> Gigi is still leery of it, but she's warier of new things and experiences.  Luke is my adventurous kitteh
[18:46] <KK> Sounds like our Gus, who was Mr. Congeniality last night at our dinner party.
[18:47] <Alkari> Saying I saw:  "Cats know how you feel.  They just don't give a damn."
[18:47] <KK> And the doge were very well behaved.
[18:47] <KK> dogs
[18:47] <the_Bee> Luke must feel that, after all he survived before coming to you, nothing can faze him.
[18:47] <KK> I take it Luke was a rescue?
[18:48] <Evie> Luke cares how you feel.  And he'll be glad to sit with you and commiserate if you'll just feed him first.  Priorities, you know.
[18:48] <Evie> Yes, he showed up on Father's Day weekend some years ago
[18:48] <the_Bee> Evie, tell KK how Luke came to live with you.
[18:48] <Evie> and insisted my husband bring him home
[18:48] <KK> Awwwww.
[18:48] <Evie> DH was working at his mom's house which is in the middle of nowhere, and Luke just wandered up
[18:49] <KK> Amd you were short a cat--regardless of how many other cats you already ahd.
[18:49] <Evie> He'd clearly been lost for a while, but he was already neutered and was wearing a kitten collar that was almost too tight for him
[18:49] <Evie> at that time we didn't have any pets
[18:49] <Evie> but we'd lost a cat a few years earlier and I wanted another one
[18:49] <KK> THen, he definitely knew where to go.
[18:50] <KK> How's he get named Luke?
[18:50] <KK> How'd
[18:50] <Evie> In fact, we were in the process of talking about it already, but I'd just gotten new living room furniture, so I said any new cat would have to go with our couch so that the cat hair wouldn't show too badlly against it
[18:50] <KK> And Luke is what color?
[18:50] <Evie> So DH calls me and says "Will Orange Tabby go with our couch?"  And I said "Close enough."  :D
[18:51] <Evie> It's a tan couch
[18:51] <KK> Cool.  Love orange cats, says the gal with 3 in her house.
[18:51] <Alkari> he definitely knew where to come
[18:51] <Evie> at that point I wanted a cat so badly he could have been purple and I'd have said it was close enough. :D
[18:52] <the_Bee> When did Gigi join you?
[18:52] <KK> And what color is she?

[18:52] <jemler> hi df
[18:52] <the_Bee> hi DF
[18:52] <derynifanatic64> hi from north carolina
[18:52] <Evie> He got named Luke because DH's choice of name for him was originally Teal'c (like from Stargate SG-1), but that didn't fit his personality.  Luke was such a whiny baby his first week with us, and couldn't let us out of his sight.  So I named him Luke because he whined like Luke Skywalker wanting to go to Tosche Station. :D
[18:53] <Alkari> Hello DF
[18:53] <Evie> Hi, DF!  how's Karsu?
[18:53] <derynifanatic64> just finishing my visit--great
[18:53] <derynifanatic64> shes
[18:53] <derynifanatic64> shes watching woody woodpecker
[18:53] <jemler> you could have named him Kinsey after Senator Kinsey from SG-1
[18:54] <Evie> No, Luke fits him. :-)
[18:54] <KK> Nah, Luke is good.
[18:54] <derynifanatic64> i have a bunch of new pictures and videos of Karsu
[18:55] <Evie> and Gigi is short for Giraffe Giraffe Pickle Annabeth Sophonia I-Nibble-Toes Grove.  Because my entire family is weird and shouldn't be allowed to name innocent pets. :D
[18:55] <jemler> what ever happed to Felix?
[18:56] <KK> I think we all inflict odd pet-names on our pets, in addition to their regular names--and then, there are the names that only the cat knows.  :-)
[18:56] <derynifanatic64> new episodes of once upon a time are back tonight
[18:56] <Evie> In my house he'd probably be Phelix.
[18:56] <jemler> name you next call Miles, after Miles Davis
[18:56] <KK> Yep, and I'm just about out of here.  Want to see that.
[18:56] <jemler> cat miles, sorry
[18:56] <Evie> Luke also comes to "Bukes" or "Bukey"
[18:56] <jemler> already set to record

[18:57] <Alkari> Ack - that was fast.  Bye KK

[18:57] <the_Bee> nighters, KK. thanks for coming and have agood week.
