Actually I was reading this thread last night - warm summer night with balcony doors and windows open - when a nice large cockroach flew onto the balcony and wandered a little way into my study.  I said "Hello Bran!"  at which point it hastily scuttled off outside again before I could find something to swat it with!  :D

Lord Walter's reply to this is, alas, unprintable, because our darling moderator would smack him down so fast for language unbecoming, all we'd ever find of him would be a grease spot on the floor, and my story would end while only half written.   ;D

Aw, Evie.  I'm not that mean, am I? :)

Seriously, though, these two fellows need killin', as they say in Texas. :D
"If having a soul means being able to feel love, loyalty, and gratitude, then animals are better off than a lot of humans."

James Herriot (James Alfred "Alfie" Wight), when a human client asked him if animals have souls.  (I don't remember in which book the story originally appeared.)

Oh, darn it, I never did get The Anthology of Hopelessly Unseemly and Foul And Extremely AU Deryni Tales for DesertRose written, did I?  Oh well, maybe next Christmas....  *kicks cowriters under table*  ;D

I'd love to read some of those myself.
