I FOUND IT!!!  

St. Camber must have been interceded on my behalf.  It was in a spot where DD & I had looked several times, including today, but as I was about to look elsewhere a dull shine caught my eye, and it was the tiny steel ring on the end of my USB drive.

Will check files when I get home from my meeting tonight, and post Ch. 15 then if all is well.  I want to leave it to sit indoors a few hours first just in case any moisture got inside and it needs drying out.
