[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [6:58:35 PM EDT] <Eris> <Nezz> Hullo KK, how's you been?
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [6:58:51 PM EDT] <[chris]> Hi KK
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [6:59:06 PM EDT] <KK> Hello, all. Big changes in royalty since last week.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [6:59:15 PM EDT] <Eris> <Nezz> That's for sure!
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [6:59:17 PM EDT] <Eris> <Scott Frisby> Hello All, I've just retired and started re-reading the Deryni books. I've finished the first Kelson series, the Camber series, along with Bishop's Heir and King's Justice. I'll start Quest for Saint Camber tomorrow. As I've read these again, I am simply blown away at Kathrine's knowledge, imagination, and command of English. Even as an old retired guy now, I'm STILL looking up vocabulary from the series.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [6:59:44 PM EDT] <Eris> <Nezz> Hi Scott, and welcome to the club!
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:00:21 PM EDT] <KK> Yay for looking up vocabulary. I'm always delighted when I run across an unfamiliar word. Cellphones are good instant dictionaries.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:00:24 PM EDT] <Eris> <Scott Frisby> My most profound thanks to Ms. Kurtz for her work and the worlds she's created. As I've mentioned to my children and grandchildren, some of my best friends are in books! And my first series of favorites are in the Deryni series.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:00:42 PM EDT] <KK> Delighted to hear this.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:00:47 PM EDT] <Eris> <Laurna> Hello KK, we just now have rain
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:00:53 PM EDT] <Eris> <DFK> It is a religion that worships the All Father but I don't think a name is given. I do have a copy and will reread trial.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:01:09 PM EDT] <KK> We had some early this morning, but nothing since.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:01:25 PM EDT] Join The_Bee (The_Bee@owirc-gkv.tbg.19.76.IP) has joined this channel.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:01:33 PM EDT] <[chris]> hi Bee
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:01:53 PM EDT] <The_Bee> Hi Y'all!  Hello KK!
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:02:02 PM EDT] <Eris> <Nezz> Scott, that first series still gets me right in the feels. 🙂 Rereading them makes me feel 16 again. 🙂
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:02:35 PM EDT] <The_Bee> which series, Nezz?
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:02:35 PM EDT] <Eris> <Laurna> Agreed Nezz. But For me it is 19
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:02:46 PM EDT] <Eris> <Nezz> Bee, the first one
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:02:58 PM EDT] <[chris]> Scott Frisby, make sure you going the Rhemuth Castle forums if you haven't already. It's easy to join (to keep spammers out you do have to join via email) just send an email to registrations@rhemuthcastle.com to get started
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:03:08 PM EDT] <The_Bee> DR, DC. HD?
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:03:25 PM EDT] <Eris> <DFK> Hi KK. Yes big changes. I know she was 96 but I saw her on TV on Tues and she didn't look ill, just frail. She was a great lady and will be much missed
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:03:25 PM EDT] <Eris> <Evie the Verbose> Welcome to the chat and forum, @Scott Frisby !
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:03:27 PM EDT] <Eris> <Nezz> Bee, yes, that series.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:03:28 PM EDT] <Eris> <Evie the Verbose> Hi, Katherine!
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:03:31 PM EDT] <Eris> <Laurna> All the above Bee
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:03:52 PM EDT] <KK> Hi, Evie. How's the little tudor house?
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:03:57 PM EDT] <Eris> <Nezz> So KK, how goes the war against the boxes?
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:04:24 PM EDT] <KK> Slowed down this week. I've been glued to the tv since Thursday, when Her Majesty passed.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:04:36 PM EDT] <Eris> <Scott Frisby> Thanks. This is my first time joining any group. I no longer have my first edition Deryni paperback from when it came out in my teenage years, but my hardback editions have larger print now anyway, so they're easier to read.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:04:44 PM EDT] <The_Bee> She was quite a lady.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:04:55 PM EDT] <Eris> <Evie the Verbose> No progress at the moment, @KK. I still haven't got my full energy back since I had walking pneumonia, though I'm on the mend.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:05:14 PM EDT] <Eris> <Nezz> I've really enjoyed my kindle versions.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:05:31 PM EDT] <Eris> <Scott Frisby> Good to meet you all, but I've got to run. I'll try to log in later, as well as join the next Zoom call in October.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:05:41 PM EDT] <Eris> <Nezz> Scott, take care!
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:05:43 PM EDT] <[chris]> @Scott Frisby, there is a lot on the forum at rhemuthcastle.com
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:05:47 PM EDT] <The_Bee> Glad you came!
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:05:50 PM EDT] <Eris> <Laurna> That was a shock for sure. very unexpected. Especially after seeing her welcome the PM to form a new govemrennt. And her smile was a good one on Tuesday,.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:05:53 PM EDT] <Eris> <Evie the Verbose> I use my Kindle versions more these days because not only can I adjust the font size, if I am looking for a particular passage, I can do a keyword search.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:05:54 PM EDT] <Eris> <Scott Frisby> Thanks all.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:06:12 PM EDT] <Eris> <Laurna> Hope to see you in Zoom Scott
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:06:54 PM EDT] <Eris> <Nezz> That picture of her from Tuesday was certainly as cute as could possibly be.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:06:59 PM EDT] <Eris> <Evie the Verbose> @Laurna Yes, the Queen's smile was delightful in that photo. It's hard to believe she passed just a couple of days later.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:07:20 PM EDT] <Eris> <Laurna> That is what I was thinking'
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:07:30 PM EDT] <The_Bee> She'd done her duty and she was entitled to rest.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:08:13 PM EDT] <The_Bee> I hope someone is playing with her corgis.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:08:29 PM EDT] <KK> Great pic. And doing her duty right to the end. Glad to hear that William and Catherine are now Prince and Princess of Wales. Charles didn't waste any time on that.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:08:40 PM EDT] <Eris> <Evie the Verbose> I think she only had three left, but I'm sure she made provisions for them to be taken care of.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:08:49 PM EDT] <Eris> <DFK> @Laurna glad you have rain. We had scattered showers but as usual they scattered all around me but not here. I either have a bubble over my house or there is a wicked deryni wether maker who doesn't want me to have any.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:08:50 PM EDT] <KK> Andrew and Sarah are taking the dogs.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:08:53 PM EDT] <Eris> <Laurna> The last two months of being unsure who would be the next PM. may have been very stressful. and I believe she knew she had to see that taken care of for the sake of her son.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:09:02 PM EDT] <The_Bee> But they'll miss her.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:09:45 PM EDT] <KK> I think her rapid decline was more down to losing Philip than anything else.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:09:50 PM EDT] <Eris> <Laurna> @DFK perhaps my wicked Deryni weather maker went on vacation.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:10:03 PM EDT] <Eris> <DFK> Hi Bee
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:10:19 PM EDT] <Eris> <Laurna> Agree with that too KK
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:10:30 PM EDT] <[chris]> That's been known to happen when one looses a long time spouse
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:10:33 PM EDT] <Eris> <Evie the Verbose> Prince Louis said at least Gan Gan could go be with Great Grandpapa now.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:10:41 PM EDT] <The_Bee> We had much-needed rain last week. I walked home from church in a light rain.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:10:48 PM EDT] <KK> Yes. Perceptive lad.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:11:08 PM EDT] <KK> Broken heart syndrome.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:11:55 PM EDT] <KK> Funeral is a week from tomorrow. Should be quite a spectacle.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:12:31 PM EDT] <Eris> <DFK> Look forward to seeing you again Scott
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:12:58 PM EDT] <Eris> <Jerusha2> Hi
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:12:58 PM EDT] <Eris> <Jerusha2> Everyone!
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:13:04 PM EDT] <Eris> <Laurna> Hello Jerusha
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:13:08 PM EDT] <[chris]> hi Jerusha
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:13:10 PM EDT] <Eris> <Nezz> Hi Jerusha
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:13:11 PM EDT] <Eris> <Evie the Verbose> Between Philip dying on my wedding anniversary and the Queen's funeral being on my daughter's birthday, I'm wondering if I should start keeping a wary eye on our other family celebrations to ensure no more royal tragedies happen on those dates too!
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:13:18 PM EDT] <The_Bee> Hi Jerusha
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:13:39 PM EDT] <Eris> <Jerusha2> Oh dear, Evie
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:13:49 PM EDT] <Eris> <Laurna> Don't need anymore of those types of date matching
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:13:50 PM EDT] <Eris> <DFK> Hi Jerusha
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:14:13 PM EDT] <The_Bee> Yes!  Please don't jinx anyone else, Evie.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:15:04 PM EDT] <[chris]> Jerusha, Laurna says that I like to distract her. Certainly not true.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:15:16 PM EDT] <Eris> <Jerusha2> Uh huh
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:16:17 PM EDT] <Eris> <Laurna> Truth is, I haven't had time to put in to your distraction, Bynw. Sorry about that. been a busy week
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:16:24 PM EDT] <Eris> <Jerusha2> Let's just say a certain dragon is considering impaling a certain scholar with a very sharp claw
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:16:38 PM EDT] <Eris> <Laurna> OH YES PLEASE
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:16:40 PM EDT] <[chris]> I'm in no rush Laurna
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:17:11 PM EDT] <Eris> <Jerusha2> That would just be the start...
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:17:27 PM EDT] <[chris]> I do have other things to keep in mind anyway. 34 days to go.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:17:32 PM EDT] <Eris> <DFK> Of course you wouldn't distract anyone with mysterious scrolls being sent to Wash. by Feyd. Oh its Feyd doing the distracting, not you.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:17:32 PM EDT] <Eris> <Laurna> That is a start I am willing to witness
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:18:01 PM EDT] <Eris> <Jerusha2> Do you need a dragon ringbearer, Chris?
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:18:11 PM EDT] <Eris> <DesertRose (she/her)> Her Majesty died on the Pod-Child's 30th birthday
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:18:16 PM EDT] <KK> Distracted, Chris? Nah.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:18:16 PM EDT] <Eris> <Laurna> Cute Idea
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:18:31 PM EDT] <[chris]> no a ringbearer won't be needed.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:18:42 PM EDT] <Eris> <Laurna> Ahhh, more matching dates.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:19:19 PM EDT] <KK> Matching dates can be creepy.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:19:21 PM EDT] <[chris]> it's just going to be our officiant, the bride and groom. our 2 witnesses that are needed by state law. and a photographer
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:19:37 PM EDT] <Eris> <Jerusha2> Lovely location, though
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:19:41 PM EDT] <KK> In front of that cool stone tower?
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:19:46 PM EDT] <[chris]> on top
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:19:55 PM EDT] <Eris> <DFK> Love that tower
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:19:56 PM EDT] <Eris> <Laurna> It will be lovely!
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:19:56 PM EDT] <Eris> <DesertRose (she/her)> There is fan fiction from Tamora Pierce's Immortals series featuring a baby dragon (who is canonically being raised by the people getting married) as flower girl.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:20:02 PM EDT] <[chris]> it's a beautiful view, especially in the fall
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:20:39 PM EDT] <KK> Oh, wow! Good view from there? Not that you'll be looking at much of anything beside your bride.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:20:48 PM EDT] * The_Bee sends beautiful-weather woodgies for Chris's wedding day.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:21:03 PM EDT] <Eris> <Laurna> ␝seconds what Bee says.␝
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:21:04 PM EDT] <KK> Yes, Bee!
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:21:32 PM EDT] <Eris> <DesertRose (she/her)> Yup, good weather woodgies!
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:22:08 PM EDT] <Eris> <DFK> Hope you have lots of fall color. Don't think we will have much. It had been so dry that the leaves are falling without turning
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:22:27 PM EDT] <[chris]> yes good weather, not too cold, not wet
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:22:36 PM EDT] <[chris]> and beautiful colors
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:22:52 PM EDT] <Eris> <Laurna> and a beautiful Bride
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:23:00 PM EDT] <KK> Leaves haven't started turning here, or falling off, but I expect it's coming soon.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:23:04 PM EDT] <The_Bee> The forecast for New England says good foliage up north, not so good here.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:23:07 PM EDT] <Eris> <Nezz> and a handsome Groom. 🙂
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:23:42 PM EDT] <Eris> <Jerusha2> Colours are starting here. The birch trees just sort of give up and drop their leaves first.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:24:46 PM EDT] <Eris> <Laurna> Jerusha, I take it your nights are cooling down
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:24:47 PM EDT] <Eris> <Evie the Verbose> koooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooool
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:24:49 PM EDT] <The_Bee> The tre in front of my building is starting to turn.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:24:56 PM EDT] <Eris> <Evie the Verbose> LOL, sorry, that was Gigi
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:25:03 PM EDT] <Eris> <Laurna> lol
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:25:04 PM EDT] <Eris> <Jerusha2> Hi Gigi
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:25:07 PM EDT] <The_Bee> HI gigi!
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:25:33 PM EDT] <Eris> <DFK> Hi Gigi. Is that a new cat code?
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:25:36 PM EDT] <Eris> <Evie the Verbose> I love that it actually sort of makes sense, at least if you read it as "kool" and don't mind the unconventional spelling! 😂
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:26:01 PM EDT] <The_Bee> That's Gigi's weather forecast.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:26:08 PM EDT] <Eris> <Evie the Verbose> Though now I'm wondering what she finds "kool." The New England foliage, perhaps? 😄
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:26:09 PM EDT] <Eris> <Laurna> She knows what she is typing
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:26:56 PM EDT] <Eris> <Revanne> Hi all
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:26:57 PM EDT] <[chris]> i'm sure all the other cats looking at the screens know what it means too
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:27:03 PM EDT] <Eris> <Evie the Verbose> Hi, Revanne!
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:27:04 PM EDT] <[chris]> hi Revanne!
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:27:06 PM EDT] <The_Bee> HI Revanne!
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:27:07 PM EDT] <Eris> <Jerusha2> Hi revanne!
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:27:07 PM EDT] <Eris> <DFK> Hi Revanne
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:27:08 PM EDT] <Eris> <Nezz> Hey REvanne!
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:27:09 PM EDT] <[chris]> so nice to see you this time of night
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:27:12 PM EDT] <Eris> <Laurna> Hello Revanne. Good to have you join us
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:27:27 PM EDT] <KK> Hi, Revanne. Busy end of the week for you, eh?
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:27:29 PM EDT] <Eris> <Evie the Verbose> Maybe Gigi knew Revanne was going to turn up, and that's what she decided was "koooooool." 😄
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:27:53 PM EDT] <Eris> <Revanne> Yes, definitely a strange week
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:27:56 PM EDT] <Eris> <Laurna> It must have been a very emotional service for you this week.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:28:28 PM EDT] <Eris> <Revanne> The national anthem is what gets everyone
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:28:40 PM EDT] <Eris> <Laurna> I bet that it would
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:28:54 PM EDT] <The_Bee> Are you optimistic about King Charles' reign, Revanne?
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:29:05 PM EDT] <Eris> <Jerusha2> Still hard to grasp there is a king now
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:29:21 PM EDT] <Eris> <Revanne> Yes - he has been a good Prince of Wales
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:29:26 PM EDT] <Eris> <Laurna> I keep wanting to say King Kelson instead
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:29:36 PM EDT] <Eris> <Revanne> Lol
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:29:48 PM EDT] <KK> They've been singing God Save the Queen for 70 years. Shifting over will require some concentration for a while.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:30:11 PM EDT] <Eris> <Evie the Verbose> And that's from someone who owns King Charles spaniels, so you'd think you'd be more used to saying "King Charles" than the rest of us!
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:30:40 PM EDT] <KK> Was happy to see thata Charles created William and Catherine Prince and Princess of Wales so quickly.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:30:44 PM EDT] <Eris> <Revanne> It's so hard isn't it Jerusha - when the BBC announcer first said "The King" I thought what is he talking about?
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:30:55 PM EDT] <Eris> <Laurna> what was funny is it took me two days to put together. King Charles III with my King Charles Spaniels.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:31:05 PM EDT] <Eris> <Jerusha2> Makes you stop and think a bit
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:31:09 PM EDT] <Eris> <Revanne> Lol Laurna!
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:31:20 PM EDT] <Eris> <Laurna> But I think His Magisty is going to need a KC spaniel.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:31:48 PM EDT] <KK> Doesn't he usually go for bigger dogs, like gun dogs?
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:31:49 PM EDT] <Eris> <Jerusha2> One must add "Cavalier" or it is a different spaniel
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:32:07 PM EDT] <Eris> <Laurna> Yes very true.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:32:34 PM EDT] <Eris> <Revanne> The new Prime Minister has had quite a week!
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:32:39 PM EDT] <Eris> <Laurna> In Brittan the King Charles Spaniel is what we call the English toy spaniel. the one with the short nose.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:33:00 PM EDT] <Eris> <Evie the Verbose> Yes, I imagine it must have been a big shock to the PM as well!
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:33:12 PM EDT] <The_Bee> I may have seen some of those.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:33:17 PM EDT] <KK> Talk about out of the frying pan....
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:33:29 PM EDT] <Eris> <Evie the Verbose> That's one way to get shoved into the deep end from the very start of the job!
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:33:43 PM EDT] <KK> Well, they can both lern as they go along.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:33:52 PM EDT] <KK> learn
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:34:06 PM EDT] <Eris> <Laurna> Not only form a new government but hold the whole country together through the transition. Do we know what will come at the end?
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:34:10 PM EDT] <Eris> <Jerusha2> Not an easy transition, though
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:34:14 PM EDT] <The_Bee> The new king and the new Prime Minister had better get busy establishing a good working relationship.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:34:18 PM EDT] <Eris> <TM> There was a cute article yesterday -- the Royal Beekeeper had to do the "telling the bees".
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:34:28 PM EDT] <Eris> <DFK> I loved that
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:34:30 PM EDT] <Eris> <Revanne> And the King has been doing more and more of his mother's duties over the last years.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:34:35 PM EDT] <Eris> <TM> He didn't actually know about it -- the head gardener had to prod him.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:34:37 PM EDT] <Eris> <Jerusha2> Yes, the bees had to be told
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:34:44 PM EDT] <KK> I saw that! Sweet story. I passed it along to a friend who is very fond of bees.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:34:45 PM EDT] <The_Bee> Whittier wrote a poem about that.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:35:13 PM EDT] <Eris> <Evie the Verbose> I imagine that's professional courtesy of a sort. The bee queens needing to be informed of the passing of the human Queen.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:35:25 PM EDT] <Eris> <TM> Beekeeper: I'm sorry, the queen is dead.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:35:25 PM EDT] <Eris> <TM> Worried-looking bees: looking over at the biggest one there
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:35:25 PM EDT] <Eris> <TM> Queen bee: ???!?!?!?
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:35:47 PM EDT] <The_Bee> Or they'll fly away, according to the legend.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:35:52 PM EDT] <Eris> <Revanne> I know all PMs value their weekly meeting with the monarch - as one put it "the one person who isn't after my job!"
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:35:56 PM EDT] <Eris> <Evie the Verbose> Queen Bee: "We are NOT amused!"
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:36:04 PM EDT] <Eris> <TM> If the queen is dead, who is going to lay the eggs for new British people?
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:36:10 PM EDT] <KK> My friend pointed out that the other bees are all drones.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:36:29 PM EDT] <Eris> <Jerusha2> Or worker bees
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:36:47 PM EDT] <Eris> <Evie the Verbose> Drones or workers
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:36:47 PM EDT] <KK> Aren't they the same thing?
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:36:53 PM EDT] <Eris> <Evie the Verbose> Workers are female, just not fertile
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:37:02 PM EDT] <KK> Ah.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:37:11 PM EDT] <Eris> <Laurna> Has The PM had her weekly meeting with the new King? they did meet but was it the weekly type of meeting or more of a formal greeting.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:37:18 PM EDT] <KK> That makes sense.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:37:31 PM EDT] <The_Bee> No. The drones are males, who vye for the honor of impregnating the Qqueen bee.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:37:32 PM EDT] <Eris> <Jerusha2> No, I don't think so. The drones sole purpose is to fertilize the queen. I don't think they have much of a life after that
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:37:37 PM EDT] <KK> More of a formal greeting, I'd guess.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:37:53 PM EDT] <Eris> <TM> I am astonished and slightly charmed that sometimes the worker bees rise up and kill their queen.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:38:09 PM EDT] <Eris> <Revanne> They've had several meetings I think as there is so much to plan.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:38:25 PM EDT] <Eris> <Evie the Verbose> Drones are more or less useless except at mating time. The rest of the time, they just sort of hang around the hive until they get pushed out and left to die. It's kinda sad to be a male bee, really, unless you're the lucky one who ends up getting to be the Father of the Hive.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:38:48 PM EDT] <Eris> <Laurna> Revanne, I don't get all the news, so I am glad you help keep me informed.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:38:49 PM EDT] <Eris> <Evie the Verbose> I think worker bees only do that if there is a problem with the queen, though
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:38:55 PM EDT] <KK> But most of the plans have been set for some time. I think mainly Charles just has to approve them, with maybe some minor tweaking.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:39:02 PM EDT] <Eris> <Revanne> HM is going to tour the nations of the Union and the PM go with him.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:39:14 PM EDT] <Eris> <DFK> He has a packed schedule and he still has the mourning and services for his mother the Queen.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:39:45 PM EDT] <KK> The PM goes with? Wow, didn't know that. But it sort og makes sense.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:39:52 PM EDT] <Eris> <Laurna> I saw the photo where horse riders lined the road as the funeral car drove by. that hit me with tears.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:39:52 PM EDT] <Eris> <Jerusha2> I had to think for a minute; I still thought of "HM" as "Her Majesty"
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:39:54 PM EDT] <Eris> <Revanne> Luckily his and her start with the same letter so some things stay the same.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:40:15 PM EDT] <The_Bee> Willam and Kate were planning to visit Massachusetts, but that's in doubt now.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:40:23 PM EDT] <KK> This is useful.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:40:38 PM EDT] <Eris> <Revanne> I'm guessing things will be postponed
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:40:42 PM EDT] <Eris> <Evie the Verbose> I have to admit, I can't help but compare how the transition of royal power and the funerary preparations compare to Balance of Power, although I did draw upon various sources for Diana's funeral and the late Queen's accession for much of that story.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:41:00 PM EDT] <Eris> <DFK> I believe that was for the Earhshot Prize and I am sure they will still do that
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:41:16 PM EDT] <Eris> <Revanne> Well it does help if people die naturally Evie!!
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:41:17 PM EDT] <Eris> <DesertRose (she/her)> Telling the bees I think is more keeping them up to date on the household doings because they might get angry and/or leave if you don't respect their place as part of your home/family.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:41:23 PM EDT] <KK> Depends on when that was planned.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:41:27 PM EDT] <Eris> <Laurna> At least now one distroyed the Castle, Evie.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:42:08 PM EDT] <The_Bee> Who--the bees?
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:42:15 PM EDT] <Eris> <Evie the Verbose> LOL, yeah, I imagine there is no "London Bridge has fallen" plan for the sort of havoc I unleashed. You kind of have to wing it in that situation.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:42:33 PM EDT] <KK> I was somewhat surprised to learn that Balmoral was actually built by Prince Albert on the site of an earlier building that was pulled down after the new Balmoral was built.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:42:54 PM EDT] <Eris> <DFK> Was it really necessary to unleash so much destructiion
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:42:54 PM EDT] <Eris> <Evie the Verbose> I never destroyed the entire Castle, Laurna. Just...the bit of it that had important people in it!
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:42:57 PM EDT] <Eris> <DesertRose (she/her)> To whom are you replying, Bee?
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:43:09 PM EDT] <The_Bee> Laurna
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:43:13 PM EDT] <Eris> <Laurna> The king's tower
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:43:36 PM EDT] <Eris> <Evie the Verbose> I didn't realize that either, KK, though it's not too much of a surprise since that sort of thing happens fairly regularly.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:43:38 PM EDT] <Eris> <DesertRose (she/her)> And now Jen has a job to do that uses her degree.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:43:39 PM EDT] <The_Bee> The bees destroyed the king's tower?
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:43:47 PM EDT] <Eris> <Laurna> Sorry Bee, I have a fear of bees (the insect) so I don't talk about them. \
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:44:00 PM EDT] <Eris> <Revanne> My S-i-L is on holiday in Scotland and rang me from the gates of Balmoral, after the cortege had left but she said the flowers are amazing.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:44:09 PM EDT] <Eris> <DFK> No Evie did I think
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:44:17 PM EDT] <Eris> <DesertRose (she/her)> The tower destruction refers to Evie's fanfic Balance of Power.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:44:36 PM EDT] <The_Bee> Of Course!
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:44:50 PM EDT] <Eris> <Laurna> I was stung just last month and had the hives and a rash for two weeks. and that was after a ton of benedril.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:45:03 PM EDT] <Eris> <Revanne> Yikes Laurna
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:45:20 PM EDT] * The_Bee gives herself a facepalm.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:45:21 PM EDT] <Eris> <Jerusha2> Oh dear! Are you OK now, Laurna?
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:45:22 PM EDT] <Eris> <Evie the Verbose> I've seen several moving interviews of residents of the village closest to Balmoral, where the Queen used to occasionally pop into shops to do her shopping, and the people there considered her to be one of their own.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:45:27 PM EDT] <Eris> <DFK> Wow. Sounds like you needed some Epi
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:45:51 PM EDT] <Eris> <DesertRose (she/her)> I am allergic to stings, so while I acknowledge with gratitude the work bees do for us all, I greatly prefer that they do their bee thing away from me.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:46:26 PM EDT] <Eris> <Laurna> I was allergic as a child and ended up in the hospital, then went through a series of treatments, and I was not allergic for a long time. but the last two stings have gotten worse again. kind of scares me a bit.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:46:46 PM EDT] <Eris> <Laurna> Agreed DR
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:46:51 PM EDT] <Eris> <Jerusha2> Maybe another trip to an allergist, Laurna?
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:47:34 PM EDT] <Eris> <DesertRose (she/her)> Yeah, Laurna, you might wait to tell your doctor about that reaction and start carrying an Epi-Pen. There's a generic called Adrenaclick if your insurance doesn't cover the name brand.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:47:42 PM EDT] <Eris> <Revanne> It will be interesting to see if HM moves into Buckingham Palace, in the past he has spoken about using that as an office and for state occasions etc but not living there.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:48:03 PM EDT] <Eris> <DFK> You might need to have an epi pen to carry with you as it sounds like your allergy is getting worse
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:48:06 PM EDT] <Eris> <Revanne> Sounds as though you are right to be wary Laurna
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:48:10 PM EDT] <Eris> <Laurna> Where does HM live now?>
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:48:34 PM EDT] <Eris> <Revanne> Clarence House, just behind St James Palace
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:48:56 PM EDT] <Eris> <Evie the Verbose> DD sees an allergist regularly trying to get less sensitized to her various allergies, since she is allergic to seemingly half the universe. She hasn't had a day without some level of congestion since early high school, though her worst allergic reaction had her in the ER on massive doses of Benadryl since she came very close to stopping breathing.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:49:03 PM EDT] <Eris> <Laurna> Does Camilla want to move?
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:49:06 PM EDT] <Eris> <Jerusha2> Didn't the Queen Mother live in Clarence House?
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:49:14 PM EDT] <Eris> <Evie the Verbose> They're moving to Buckingham Palace now, though
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:49:39 PM EDT] <Eris> <Revanne> Yes Jerusha and who knows Laurna. She is very very discreet.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:50:06 PM EDT] <Eris> <Laurna> I think she is very protective of her relationsship with the people.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:50:06 PM EDT] <Eris> <Jerusha2> Not a bad thing
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:50:44 PM EDT] <KK> I'd guess they'll continue at Clarence House, at least for the immediate future; maybe have some renovations done at Buck House.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:50:50 PM EDT] <Eris> <Laurna> The Gods are sending thunder bolts at each other at the moment.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:50:55 PM EDT] <Eris> <Evie the Verbose> Last I read, he wants to scale down some of the royal residences, but since Buckingham Palace is so central, he plans to continue to use that as "the flat above the shop," so to speak.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:51:20 PM EDT] <Eris> <Laurna> LOL
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:51:36 PM EDT] <Eris> <Jerusha2> Thunder storm, Laurna?
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:51:44 PM EDT] <Eris> <Laurna> Right over my house
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:51:48 PM EDT] <Eris> <DFK> I was thinking he might live at Windsor as the queen did.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:51:51 PM EDT] <Eris> <Nezz> Love me a good thunderstorm, it's what I miss about the south.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:51:52 PM EDT] <KK> I think that's what the Queen had decided, when she moved to Windsor: to use Buck House as her offices.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:51:59 PM EDT] <Eris> <Revanne> Buck House does really need upgrading though and it might not be money well spent.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:52:11 PM EDT] <Eris> <Evie the Verbose> That an actual quote from the article I read that in, btw. I thought it was funny, comparing Buckingham Palace to a flat above a shop, though I quite get what was meant by that.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:52:20 PM EDT] <The_Bee> Windsor burned some years ago. I don't know how badly.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:52:34 PM EDT] <Eris> <DesertRose (she/her)> Probably a good call to scale down. Maybe divert funds to heating expenses for the British people this winter.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:52:47 PM EDT] <Eris> <Evie the Verbose> It's been nicely restored, Bee.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:52:49 PM EDT] <Eris> <DFK> The damage was restored.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:52:54 PM EDT] <Eris> <Revanne> It has been fully renovated Bee - it was 1992
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:52:58 PM EDT] <KK> Fire damage was repaired, and restored fiarly quickly.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:53:28 PM EDT] <Eris> <Laurna> What happens to all the queen's wardrobe. does it get saved for posterity or does it get handed down to the family or sold to charrities?
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:53:47 PM EDT] <The_Bee> King Charles has been very interested in doing something climate change.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:53:50 PM EDT] <Eris> <Jerusha2> All of her special purses.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:54:07 PM EDT] <Eris> <Evie the Verbose> I think the eventual plan is to make some of the palaces more open to the public and not primary residences anymore, and possibly turn Balmoral into a museum in memory of The Queen, since it's so personally associated with her.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:54:20 PM EDT] <KK> Ah, the purses. At least we now know what she carried in them. ;-)
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:54:21 PM EDT] <Eris> <DFK> I also read that HM was considering opening Buckingham Palace more to he public to raise money
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:54:34 PM EDT] <Eris> <Revanne> Yes Bee, he was talking about the environment when it was regarded a weird thing to do.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:54:40 PM EDT] <KK> I'd read that, too.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:54:41 PM EDT] <Eris> <Nezz> Mmmm, purse-sammiches. 🙂
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:54:44 PM EDT] <Eris> <Laurna> LOL love the sandwich
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:55:14 PM EDT] <KK> The Paddington sketch was wonderful. HM really was quite a good actress.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:55:15 PM EDT] <Eris> <Evie the Verbose> The article I read said that the apartments at Buckingham Palace would be scaled down quite a bit, with fewer staff, but a smaller residence would be maintained there since that is still the working palace.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:55:15 PM EDT] <Eris> <Jerusha2> Somehow a little disquieting to think of a sandwich in a purse. But I understand the meaning.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:55:24 PM EDT] <Eris> <Revanne> That scene with Paddington is so poignant now.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:55:31 PM EDT] <Eris> <DFK> @KK yes. That's wherre she carried her emergency marmalade sandwich
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:55:41 PM EDT] <Eris> <Nezz> I always loved the James Bond sketch. For the longest time I thought that must be a Queen impersonator.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:55:50 PM EDT] <Eris> <Laurna> I love the Paddington scene and the drawings about it. really hit the spot
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:55:56 PM EDT] <Eris> <Evie the Verbose> Doesn't everyone carry their emergency marmalade sandwich in their purse? 😄
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:56:09 PM EDT] <Eris> <Revanne> The " Thank you Ma'am, for everything" makes me well up.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:56:16 PM EDT] <KK> Yes, the Queen asking Paddington to please take her to her husband.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:56:55 PM EDT] <Eris> <Evie the Verbose> I think when they first proposed the Bond commercial to the Queen, they were just planning to ask permission to have a body double do it, but she was delighted with the idea and wanted to do it herself. (Well, aside from the actual jump, of course!)
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:57:04 PM EDT] <Eris> <Laurna> I just rewatched the james bond scetch. that was so neat
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:57:09 PM EDT] <Eris> <Revanne> I'm do glad she got her Jubilee. And hopefully realised how much she was loved
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:57:16 PM EDT] <KK> Myself, I like the image of those rainbows over Windsor, and Philip and the Corgis waiting for HM at the Rainbow Bridge.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:57:32 PM EDT] <Eris> <Jerusha2> The rainbows were very moving
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:57:33 PM EDT] <Eris> <Evie the Verbose> I hope that she at least got to see the bits on TV that she didn't feel up to attending in person.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:57:39 PM EDT] <Eris> <Revanne> The rainbows were amazing.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:57:49 PM EDT] <Eris> <Laurna> agreed
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:57:54 PM EDT] <KK> Yes.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:57:54 PM EDT] <Eris> <Jerusha2> Just the right touch
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:57:55 PM EDT] <The_Bee> OH yes!  The double rainbow!
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:58:04 PM EDT] <Eris> <DFK> I loved the images of the rainbow over Windsor and the DOuble one over Buckingham Palace
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:58:31 PM EDT] <Eris> <Laurna> I sign of love and hope
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:58:35 PM EDT] <Eris> <Evie the Verbose> I knew about the ones over Buckingham Palace, but I didn't know there was one seen at Windsor too. Cool!
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:58:36 PM EDT] <KK> Her horses also would have been with Philip and the Corgis.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:58:42 PM EDT] <Eris> <Evie the Verbose> Or as Gigi would say, "kooooooooooooooooooooooool"
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:58:56 PM EDT] <Eris> <Revanne> Lol Gigi
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:59:07 PM EDT] <Eris> <Jerusha2> Especially Burmese (I think I have the name right)
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:59:15 PM EDT] <KK> I'm glad that she got to ride again, only a few weeks ago, though I'm sure it was only a gentle hack.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [7:59:28 PM EDT] <Eris> <Evie the Verbose> @revanne Just before you arrived, Gigi stepped on my keyboard and spelled out "koooool," only it took her two or three lines to do it!
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:00:04 PM EDT] <KK> Yes, Burmese was the black horse she used to ride side-saddle at Trooping of the Colour.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:00:24 PM EDT] <Eris> <Revanne> Thinking of horses makes me think of the Princess Royal - a heart-breaking picture of her inside the cortege.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:00:25 PM EDT] <Eris> <Evie the Verbose> Was it that recently?! Wow, I could only hope to have health that good at 96!
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:00:36 PM EDT] <Eris> <Laurna> I think she last road a little black pony, he was cute
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:01:23 PM EDT] <KK> She'd been riding Fell ponies for years, and yes, I believe it was one of those.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:02:18 PM EDT] <KK> That's also what Prince Philip used to drive with his carriages, and I believe that Lady Louise inherited at least a few of those, along with the carriages.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:02:32 PM EDT] <Eris> <Laurna> Speaking of Ponies, my Furgus, is doing better this week after his episode last week. the swelling in his hind legs is finally going down.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:02:52 PM EDT] <Eris> <Evie the Verbose> I think I would be quietly terrified if I was the protection officer assigned to a 96 year old Queen who wanted to go out riding. I mean, you can't really tell her No, but.... 😅
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:02:53 PM EDT] <KK> Oh, excellent, Laurna.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:02:53 PM EDT] <Eris> <Revanne> Did you see the Archers of the King's guard from the proclamation in Edinburgh?
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:02:55 PM EDT] <The_Bee> Good!
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:02:58 PM EDT] <Eris> <Jerusha2> Good news, Laurna
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:03:13 PM EDT] <Eris> <Evie the Verbose> Oh good, Laurna!
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:03:29 PM EDT] <Eris> <Evie the Verbose> Lady Louise is turning into a young beauty
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:03:40 PM EDT] <Eris> <Revanne> Good news Laurna. Maybe he'll learn sense in future.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:03:40 PM EDT] <KK> Yes. And I suspect that my friend who's a sheriff and also one of Lord Lyon's heralds, was seriously on duty this weekend.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:03:45 PM EDT] <Eris> <Laurna> I am just glad there was no perment damage. So live and learn.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:04:16 PM EDT] <Eris> <DFK> So glad Furgus is better. Hope he learned his lesson and won't try that again.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:04:16 PM EDT] <Eris> <Jerusha2> Hopefully Fergus learns!
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:04:16 PM EDT] <Eris> <Revanne> That's an interesting role KK
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:04:38 PM EDT] <KK> Poor Lady Louise had only just started college at St. Andrew's, and had to come over to Balmoral.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:04:46 PM EDT] <The_Bee> "Lady Louise"?
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:04:47 PM EDT] <Eris> <Laurna> That is a change from the Queen
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:04:59 PM EDT] <Eris> <DesertRose (she/her)> Mom and I guessed wrong about His Majesty's regnal name. We figured he'd use George, since the first two Kings Charles didn't exactly cover themselves in glory, but maybe he hopes that the third time is a charm. (Mom and His Majesty are the same age so she's always followed royal family news.)
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:04:59 PM EDT] <Eris> <Evie the Verbose> Poor girl. 😦
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:05:03 PM EDT] <Eris> <Laurna> Queen's Guard to the King's Guard.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:05:08 PM EDT] <Eris> <Evie the Verbose> Prince Edward's daughter, Bee
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:05:20 PM EDT] <The_Bee> ah, thanks
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:05:22 PM EDT] <KK> He's an interesting man, Revanne. He was one of Scott's good buddies, which is how I came to know him.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:05:50 PM EDT] <Eris> <Revanne> Personally I'm glad he chose Charles - I'm confused enough as it is!
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:05:59 PM EDT] <Eris> <DFK> Who? the sheriff?
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:06:05 PM EDT] <Eris> <Jerusha2> If you have been "Charles" for over 70 years, it might be hard to change your name now
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:06:19 PM EDT] <Eris> <Laurna> I can not imagine him changing his name a the age of 73
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:06:32 PM EDT] <KK> I think Charles was a good choice. The public have known him by that name for far too long to change now.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:07:09 PM EDT] <Eris> <Laurna> And his Grandson is George. so that name is taken and might confuse the grandkids.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:07:14 PM EDT] <Eris> <Evie the Verbose> Yes, after 73 years of going by Charles, it would be hard for him to remember his own name if he changed it now!
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:07:18 PM EDT] <Eris> <Revanne> And actually I think Charles II was not bad, he was willing to learn and accept limitations which enabled the monarchy to be restored and continue.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:07:26 PM EDT] <KK> Just to confuse things further, my friend the herald's name is George.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:07:41 PM EDT] <Eris> <DesertRose (she/her)> I imagine even when he'd chosen George as a regnal name, he'd still have been called Charles by his intimates, kind of how his grandfather was King George but Bertie to his intimates.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:08:13 PM EDT] <Eris> <Evie the Verbose> I read this week that while Charles III himself isn't directly descended from Charles II, his sons are through their mother.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:08:17 PM EDT] <Eris> <Laurna> George of the King's Guard. Tell him hello fromall of us. and Ask him how King Kelson / Charles is doing.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:08:24 PM EDT] <Eris> <Fruit> @DesertRose (she/her) @Nezz @DFK Thanks!
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:08:50 PM EDT] <Eris> <Revanne> When they talk about the Prince of Wales I'm like "who? - oh you mean William!"
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:09:04 PM EDT] <Eris> <DesertRose (she/her)> But it would have been less changing his name than using one of his middle names. He is Charles Philip Arthur George. Do not ask me why I remember all that.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:09:23 PM EDT] <Eris> <DFK> All the changes will take some getting used to
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:09:44 PM EDT] <KK> That'll take a bit of getting used to. But at least Catherine doesn't have to contend with double-barreled Duchess of Cambridge, no Cornwall.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:09:56 PM EDT] <Eris> <Evie the Verbose> It's less difficult for me to adjust to William as Prince of Wales, since even in his active service days he was called "William Wales," and when he was a baby, Charles joked that he was the "Prince of Wails." 😄
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:10:02 PM EDT] <The_Bee> I'm glad William and Harry a d their wives were seen walking together.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:10:22 PM EDT] <Eris> <TM> Cambridge and Cornwall and Rothesay, o my!
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:10:40 PM EDT] <Eris> <Revanne> It's quite silly how shocked we all are given that HM was 96 I think we just thought she'd go on for ever.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:10:44 PM EDT] <KK> I'd guess that was a PR decision. Meghan is a piece of work, and will never fit in with the Firm.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:10:46 PM EDT] <Eris> <Jerusha2> Don't they give up Cambridge now?
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:10:49 PM EDT] <Eris> <Laurna> I liked seeing them all together too , Bee
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:10:51 PM EDT] <Eris> <Evie the Verbose> LOL, yeah. I have a special connection with the Rothesay title, since we think my ancestors came from Bute or that general area.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:11:28 PM EDT] <KK> I think they still have Cambridge. But a whole boatload of additional titles.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:11:42 PM EDT] <Eris> <TM> I don't think you can just give up a normal title (except disclaiming a peerage, which is kind of special)
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:11:44 PM EDT] <Eris> <Laurna> The welsh people were kind of sticklers saying Charles was not their prince. Are they saying the same about William. or are they staying silent.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:11:50 PM EDT] <Eris> <Revanne> Richard and I loved Scotland and Edinburgh so it's been poignant seeing so much from there.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:12:19 PM EDT] <Eris> <Evie the Verbose> Yesterday, before the Prince of Wales announcement, they were being called the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall and Cambridge. But that's quite the mouthful, so I'm glad they can just drop both and be Prince and Princess of Wales.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:12:19 PM EDT] <Eris> <TM> There's a small petition for William not to be prince of Wales on account of the PoWs have all been English &c
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:12:27 PM EDT] <KK> I'm glad she passed in Scotland, and at Balmoral. Many happy memories there.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:12:43 PM EDT] <Eris> <DesertRose (she/her)> They tend to have a lot of titles.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:13:07 PM EDT] <Eris> <Evie the Verbose> I read that as "on account of the Prisoners of War have all been English," and was confused for a sec.... 😄
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:13:08 PM EDT] <Eris> <Laurna> Better in your own home and not at work. so to say.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:13:26 PM EDT] <Eris> <Revanne> Some are Laurna more especially in North Wales, but then Willuam lived for 3 years on Angelesy - Ynys Mon so who knows
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:13:33 PM EDT] <Eris> <Evie the Verbose> Yes, she was surrounded by happy memories at Balmoral
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:13:34 PM EDT] <Eris> <DFK> Well if anyone can win the Welsh over it's William and Kate
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:13:34 PM EDT] <Eris> <DesertRose (she/her)> Yeah, I do think that if she had any choice, she'd have chosen to walk on from Balmoral.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:13:43 PM EDT] <KK> A few of them, like Cornwall, come with a substantial income, which is what Charles mostly used for his various charities, like the Prince's Trust.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:13:55 PM EDT] <Eris> <Laurna> Agreed, DFK
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:14:28 PM EDT] <Eris> <Evie the Verbose> I read that Charles will now have to pay William rent annually on one of his homes. 😄
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:14:37 PM EDT] <Eris> <Revanne> Charles has worked very hard with the Duchy and by all accounts is an excellent landlord.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:14:41 PM EDT] <Eris> <Laurna> that is funny
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:14:53 PM EDT] <Eris> <Jerusha2> He can probably afford it
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:15:05 PM EDT] <Eris> <DFK> I read that Balmoral belongs to the royal family and is not a crown proerty
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:15:08 PM EDT] <KK> I'd heard that, Revanne.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:15:25 PM EDT] <Eris> <Revanne> And the Prince's Trust has done amazing work helping disadvantaged young people
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:15:33 PM EDT] <The_Bee> When did the Queen start paying taxes?
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:15:36 PM EDT] <Eris> <Laurna> the queen was the riches woman in the world. I can now sumise that the King is the richest or near richest man.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:15:39 PM EDT] <Eris> <Revanne> 1992
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:15:51 PM EDT] <The_Bee> thanks, Revanne
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:16:13 PM EDT] <Eris> <Evie the Verbose> I've been struck by how many comments I've seen along the lines of "I'm not actually a Royalist, in fact I'm anti-monarchy, but the Queen was amazing and did the job better than anyone else could have."
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:16:24 PM EDT] <Eris> <DesertRose (she/her)> My favorite Queen Elizabeth story is the time she scared the pants off a Saudi prince who didn't think women should drive. She drew on her WWII ambulance driver skills and took him around the grounds at Balmoral.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:16:29 PM EDT] <KK> The RF owns quite a lot of property in the USA.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:16:55 PM EDT] <KK> I love that story too, DR.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:17:09 PM EDT] <Eris> <DFK> Actually the same year as the fire at Windsor.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:17:09 PM EDT] <Eris> <Evie the Verbose> I didn't know they had land here. Cool!
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:17:22 PM EDT] <Eris> <Nezz> Johnny Rotten wrote a very short but touching tribute to her.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:17:24 PM EDT] <Eris> <DesertRose (she/her)> "Oh, women oughtn't drive? Hold my pint and watch THIS!"
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:17:34 PM EDT] <The_Bee> Remember the stunt where they pretended Elizabeth was parachuting from a plane?
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:17:39 PM EDT] <KK> lol, DR.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:18:03 PM EDT] <Eris> <Revanne> And how the prince kept telling the interpreter to tell her to slow down and he had to point t out the Queen outrank the Prince so no!
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:18:23 PM EDT] <Eris> <Laurna> LOL that is a good one.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:18:43 PM EDT] <KK> That was very cleverly done, for the Olympics. I think both Daniel Craig and the Queen had stunt doubles for the actual jump.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:19:00 PM EDT] <The_Bee> I'm sure SHE did.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:19:29 PM EDT] <Eris> <Jerusha2> Oh yes
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:19:33 PM EDT] <Eris> <Revanne> Had the Queen been a lit younger she might have wanted to actually jump.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:20:02 PM EDT] <KK> I'm sure both of them did. Required very precise landings so they could disappear into the stadium and the real Bond and Queen could come out, to the delight of the crowd.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:20:41 PM EDT] <KK> THey'd never have let her, but she might have wanted to.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:21:17 PM EDT] <Eris> <Evie the Verbose> William and Catherine's faces when she did that were hilarious. They didn't know about it in advance, so you could see genuine surprise and hilarity in their reactions.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:21:17 PM EDT] <Eris> <Laurna> Now the rain is coming down in sheets. like a waterfall off my roof
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:21:30 PM EDT] <Eris> <Revanne> That's good Laurna.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:21:35 PM EDT] <KK> Lucky you! Your part of the country really needs it.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:21:36 PM EDT] <Eris> <DFK> I'm so jealous
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:21:41 PM EDT] <[chris]> we had a steady and hard rain all day yesterday
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:21:44 PM EDT] <Eris> <Nezz> Laurna, hopefully I'll gt your storm in a day or two. 🙂
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:21:46 PM EDT] <The_Bee> Do you need it, Laurna?
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:21:52 PM EDT] <Eris> <Revanne> Though maybe less heavy would be good.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:21:56 PM EDT] <Eris> <Laurna> Hopefull this will put all all the fires.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:22:05 PM EDT] <Eris> <Revanne> Let's hope so.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:22:06 PM EDT] <Eris> <Jerusha2> That would be good
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:22:19 PM EDT] <Eris> <DFK> Everyone eems to get rain but me. Getting paramoid about it
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:22:37 PM EDT] <The_Bee> Southern California has been getting both fire and rain, haven't they?
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:22:39 PM EDT] <Eris> <Laurna> As of this morning the nearest fire was 50% contained. but they hoped to have it out by monday
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:22:56 PM EDT] <Eris> <DFK> I think thta's the remnants of hurricane Kay
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:22:59 PM EDT] <Eris> <Revanne> Oh that's good Laurna
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:23:28 PM EDT] <Eris> <Laurna> The place where my sister's new home is being built went into evacation on Saterday. but that area is good today.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:23:51 PM EDT] <Eris> <Revanne> Scary
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:23:56 PM EDT] <Eris> <Evie the Verbose> That would be unnerving, I imagine!
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:23:58 PM EDT] <Eris> <Jerusha2> From the fires, laurna?
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:24:11 PM EDT] <Eris> <DFK> Was the evacuation for fire or flood
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:24:12 PM EDT] <The_Bee> We've been hazy skies from the fires out west.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:24:24 PM EDT] <The_Bee> gettong
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:24:25 PM EDT] <Eris> <Laurna> The fire was only over this hill side. but Kay changed the winds around.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:24:40 PM EDT] <Eris> <Laurna> Really Bee?
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:24:55 PM EDT] <Eris> <TM> I've seen fire and I've seen rain ...
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:25:00 PM EDT] <The_Bee> So the weatherman said.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:25:22 PM EDT] <Eris> <Laurna> TM I can do without the first one
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:25:38 PM EDT] <The_Bee> I missed the beautiful sunsets they caused.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:25:56 PM EDT] <Eris> <Laurna> Still more thunder. I actually love that sound
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:25:56 PM EDT] <Eris> <Revanne> Going to head off now - my sleep pattern was settling down but been a bit all over the place. Good to chat with you all.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:26:03 PM EDT] <Eris> <Evie the Verbose> I remember one year there were wildfires in south Georgia close to the Florida border, which is a couple of hundred miles southeast of us here, but we woke up one morning to a very thick haze of smoke that had blown our way and past us all the way to the Mississippi border at least!
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:26:16 PM EDT] <Eris> <Laurna> Good Night Revanne. sleep well
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:26:16 PM EDT] <Eris> <Evie the Verbose> Good to see you, Revanne!
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:26:30 PM EDT] <[chris]> night Revanne
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:26:31 PM EDT] <The_Bee> Glad you came. Long Live King Charless III!
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:26:35 PM EDT] <Eris> <Jerusha2> Good night, revanne
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:26:38 PM EDT] <KK> My tummy is making hungry sounds, guys, so I think I'm going to head out. Next week we can debrief on the Queen's funeral. Hope it isn't too traumatic, Revanne.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:26:41 PM EDT] <Eris> <Laurna> Long live the King
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:26:55 PM EDT] <Eris> <Jerusha2> Nighters, KK
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:27:00 PM EDT] <Eris> <DFK> NIght Revanne. Sleep well
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:27:00 PM EDT] <Eris> <Revanne> ..
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:27:02 PM EDT] <Eris> <Laurna> Good Night KK
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:27:05 PM EDT] * KK steps onto her Portal, waves goodnight, and disappears in a shower of green sparkles.
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:27:07 PM EDT] <Eris> <Nezz> night KK, take care. 🙂
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:27:08 PM EDT] <[chris]> night KK. have a good week
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:27:09 PM EDT] <Eris> <DFK> Night KK
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:27:15 PM EDT] <Eris> <Evie the Verbose> I think the funeral isn't until after next week's chat
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:27:20 PM EDT] <KK> Nighters, all!
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:27:22 PM EDT] <Eris> <Evie the Verbose> Since it's the following Monday
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:27:27 PM EDT] <Eris> <Evie the Verbose> Bye, KK!
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:27:30 PM EDT] <The_Bee> Thanks for coming KK.  Good week to you and scritches to Daphne
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:27:40 PM EDT] <Eris> <DFK> It's Monday the 19th
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:27:49 PM EDT] <KK> Ak, you're right. Well, we can anticipate some more. Nighters again!
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:27:49 PM EDT] <Eris> <Laurna> Pets for Daphne
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:27:51 PM EDT] <Eris> <Evie the Verbose> My DD's birthday
[Sunday, September 11, 2022] [8:28:00 PM EDT] Quit KK has left this server (Quit: https://mibbit.com Online IRC Client).
"If having a soul means being able to feel love, loyalty, and gratitude, then animals are better off than a lot of humans."

James Herriot (James Alfred "Alfie" Wight), when a human client asked him if animals have souls.  (I don't remember in which book the story originally appeared.)
