Thhank you all. Just read an artcle on medieval color theory to make sure I get my FS guy's color scheme thematically appropriate.

[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:08:27 PM EDT] <Eris> <Catherine Windsor> Hi DR
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:08:32 PM EDT] <The_Bee> Hello to you all!
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:08:49 PM EDT] <Eris> <derynifank> Only because Ii am inside. Hot and muggy outside
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:08:55 PM EDT] <Eris> <Bethane> hullo kk
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:09:11 PM EDT] <The_Bee> gray and sometimes wet here.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:09:12 PM EDT] <Eris> <Bethane> hi Catwind
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:09:14 PM EDT] <Imladris> KK? are you going to be at any conventions this fall?
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:09:33 PM EDT] <Eris> <Bethane> A little too dry
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:10:00 PM EDT] <KK> Still haven't make up my mind about Dragoncon. Not sure my knee is up to that much flying.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:10:03 PM EDT] <Eris> <Catherine Windsor> We have storms in the area, again.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:10:08 PM EDT] <Imladris> Fortunately, this little corner of the west is still getting rain.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:10:20 PM EDT] <Eris> <derynifank> Lucky you
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:10:22 PM EDT] <Eris> <Bethane> Which corner are you in?
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:10:34 PM EDT] <DesertRose> A thunderstorm rolled through here a few hours ago and mercifully left the air about 10 degrees F cooler than before the storm, welcome indeed at 5 pm in Florida in July.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:10:48 PM EDT] <Imladris> Is Chessicon still going? Just moved to the Black Hills. They are really gorgeous..
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:10:57 PM EDT] <DesertRose> It's very muggy out, but at least it's 80 F and muggy rather than 90 F and muggy.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:11:06 PM EDT] <The_Bee> June much heat, July much rain
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:11:14 PM EDT] <KK> Also, I'm still settling into homebodyness in my new home. :-)
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:11:16 PM EDT] <Imladris> been missing weekends here because I tend to go exploring the backroads on my sundays.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:11:37 PM EDT] <Imladris> We just moved in 3 of June.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:12:05 PM EDT] <KK> The Black Hills. How is that?
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:12:08 PM EDT] <Eris> <Bethane> oooh, still learning a new place
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:12:22 PM EDT] <Imladris> They are awesome.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:12:35 PM EDT] <Eris> <Bethane> Say hi to Rocky Raccoon for me. 😉
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:12:48 PM EDT] <The_Bee> and Bullwinkle
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:12:49 PM EDT] <Imladris> KK when your knee is better... the house has four bedrooms...
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:13:21 PM EDT] <DesertRose> I wondered once how my stepdad manages almost never to get lost. It's because when he moves somewhere new, he drives around randomly exploring. (He also has a good sense of direction in general.) Random exploring is fun.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:13:25 PM EDT] <KK> What has brought you to the Black Hills?
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:13:40 PM EDT] <Imladris> come visit... saw a White (non-flying) Squirrel a couple weeks ago..
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:14:23 PM EDT] <KK> When I moved to Staunton, I almost immediately signed up to help deliver Meals on Wheels. An excellent way to learn about a new place. And my driving partner has become a good friend.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:14:31 PM EDT] <DesertRose> Oh, that's a good idea, KK!
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:15:02 PM EDT] <KK> It also counts as my bit toward public service, feel-good effect and all that.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:15:58 PM EDT] <Imladris> Job.. after leaving private practice in Florida.. I was working at a Critical access hospital in Wyoming, but the nasty administration caused about 15% of the staff to look elsewhere. Working in Rapid City for a Community health center.. a 40 hour instead of 70 hour week.. and actually appreciated.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:16:15 PM EDT] <DesertRose> Volunteering is a good thing to do. I've almost always had a fantastic time with volunteer work, and when it wasn't fun, I learned something or was fairly sure I was providing help for someone who needed it.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:16:20 PM EDT] <KK> I was also transporting for Basset Rescue for a while, but have now phased out of that; no longer physically up for it.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:16:47 PM EDT] <DesertRose> Puppy dogs!
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:17:06 PM EDT] <Imladris> Where is the new house, KK, still in Staunton?
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:17:16 PM EDT] <Eris> <derynifank> Imladris are you a nurs?
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:17:28 PM EDT] <Imladris> nope... Doc.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:17:40 PM EDT] <KK> Yes, but on the south side of town rather than north. It's actually more convenient for more places than the old house was.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:17:42 PM EDT] <The_Bee> Good!
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:18:04 PM EDT] <DesertRose> One of my local friends drives for a couple of dog rescues. If you visit her home, when you say your farewells, you will have dog-hair souvenirs, but those are most excellent souvenirs.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:18:15 PM EDT] <Eris> <derynifank> Bee how is the bicycle situation?
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:18:26 PM EDT] <KK> No outfit complete without pet hair.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:18:38 PM EDT] <Imladris> nods, have a friend in Stuart's Draft.. last time drove through there was in about 1990
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:19:11 PM EDT] <Eris> <Bethane> Imladris, you a general practitioner or a specialist?
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:19:13 PM EDT] <KK> Beautiful country, here in the Shenandoah.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:19:17 PM EDT] <Imladris> Beautiful places here to bike.. but .. I don't have one...
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:19:26 PM EDT] <The_Bee> Bike still a problem. I got lubricant, but it didn't do enough.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:19:30 PM EDT] <DesertRose> Nope. I haven't gone anywhere without golden-brown tabby hair somewhere on me in almost six years, and I wouldn't have it any other way.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:19:50 PM EDT] <Imladris> Family Practice.. but at the critical access hospital, was doing ER, Hospital and Fam Practice.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:20:02 PM EDT] <Eris> <Bethane> I finally no longer have orange or gray kitty hair, but still plenty of black and w hite
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:20:02 PM EDT] <Eris> <derynifank> I have orange and black hair
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:20:10 PM EDT] <KK> Wow, so this is a bit of a rest for you.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:20:37 PM EDT] <KK> Wyoming. That's almost all out in the boonies, isn't it?
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:20:39 PM EDT] <Imladris> yes..
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:21:10 PM EDT] <Imladris> Wyoming was in a town of 1200... 7 miles north was another town.. 1900
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:21:21 PM EDT] <KK> Sounds like you maybe need to see about a bike, Imladris.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:21:28 PM EDT] <Imladris> nearest walmart was an hour...
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:21:46 PM EDT] <KK> And what drew you to such an isolated area?
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:21:55 PM EDT] <DesertRose> Speaking of tabby hair, Carys sends purrs. I'm typing with only my right hand, as my left is occupied with cuddly Carys.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:21:57 PM EDT] <Eris> <derynifank> I bought a bike for my grandson's birthday and Amazon delivered it
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:21:58 PM EDT] <Imladris> nearest target or Sam's or TJ Maxx was about 2 and a half hours
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:22:37 PM EDT] <KK> How long were you in Wyoming?
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:22:44 PM EDT] <Imladris> well had done Locums there and was offered full time.. took the job.. the Big Horn Mountains are gorgeous...
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:23:23 PM EDT] <Imladris> but they went through 3 CEO's in 3 years.. and the last was not a good person.. so
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:23:24 PM EDT] <Eris> <derynifank> How is the heat and water situation there?
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:23:34 PM EDT] <Imladris> started looking elsewhere
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:24:05 PM EDT] <KK> I would imagine that family practice in such small areas is a bit like it was in the old days, when doctors were able to get to know their patients and their families.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:24:32 PM EDT] <The_Bee> My sister's first job after college was in Wyoming. She fell in love with the state from reading My Friend Flicka and its sequels.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:24:43 PM EDT] <Eris> <derynifank> Do you go on house calls?
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:24:50 PM EDT] <Imladris> 90's this week..
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:24:59 PM EDT] <KK> Gak!
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:24:59 PM EDT] <Eris> <Catherine Windsor> Gotta go y'all, have a good week, I'll talk to y'all next week.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:25:08 PM EDT] <KK> Bye, Catherine.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:25:09 PM EDT] <Eris> <Bethane> cya Cat
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:25:14 PM EDT] <Eris> <derynifank> Bye CW
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:25:15 PM EDT] <The_Bee> Good week to you, Catherine
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:25:16 PM EDT] <Imladris> by Catherine
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:25:42 PM EDT] <DesertRose> G'night, Catherine!
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:25:54 PM EDT] <Imladris> no house calls, and in Rapid City here am working the Communty health center.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:26:21 PM EDT] <Eris> <Catherine Windsor> Thanks Bee. Namariƫ Imladris. Night DR.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:26:28 PM EDT] <Imladris> Namarie
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:26:36 PM EDT] <Eris> <derynifank> I think medicine lost a lot when docs stopped gooing to people's homes
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:27:03 PM EDT] <Imladris> lost a lot more when it became more about the paperwork than the care
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:27:18 PM EDT] <KK> Our family doc in Ireland made a house call to us, when I was having a serious gall bladder attack. He was a good guy!
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:27:28 PM EDT] <Eris> <Bethane> Oooh, that's whayt most of the folks in dr. offices say
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:27:36 PM EDT] <Eris> <derynifank> We all lost out when the insurance companies took control
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:28:32 PM EDT] <Imladris> well, you really have a problem when the person paying for a service is not the person receiving the servie.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:28:40 PM EDT] <Eris> <derynifank> In the UK docs still make housecalls. Not sure about toher countries
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:29:16 PM EDT] <Eris> <derynifank> True Imladris: too much focus on profit
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:29:24 PM EDT] <Eris> <Bethane> Imladris, I've often thought that same thing
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:29:39 PM EDT] <Imladris> it's like the sign in a Garage.. FAST, CHEAP, HIGH Quality!
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:29:44 PM EDT] <Imladris> pick any two.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:29:55 PM EDT] <DesertRose> Because I have a lot of medical issues, I talk to a lot of medical professionals. I try to ask each one a question, regarding universal health care. "If you could just NOT have to deal with insurance companies, would you take a slight pay cut (like, just a dip in discretionary budge, not enough to affect your ability to pay your bills), would you do it?" Without fail, they've all said yes.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:30:20 PM EDT] <Imladris> Not Me... DR.. because of one thing....
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:30:35 PM EDT] <DesertRose> *budget, not budge
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:30:40 PM EDT] <Imladris> Having Been in the US army... and dealt with VA
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:31:01 PM EDT] <Imladris> I have yet to find a program that the Government does well.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:31:13 PM EDT] <Eris> <derynifank> Insurance companies should not be the ones deciding what care a person will get
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:31:27 PM EDT] <DesertRose> I won't go on a political rant, but when government programs are funded sufficiently, they do their jobs quite well.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:31:43 PM EDT] <DesertRose> Cut the funding, and of course it's a mess because there aren't enough resources to do the task.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:31:48 PM EDT] <Imladris> And there is truth to a health care system with the compassion of the IRS and the efficiency of the Department of Motor Vehicles
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:32:04 PM EDT] <The_Bee> LOL!
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:32:06 PM EDT] <Eris> <Bethane> lol
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:32:18 PM EDT] <DesertRose> It'd still be better than paper-pushers second-guessing doctors' decisions about patient care.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:32:26 PM EDT] <Imladris> deryni fan... I agree.. it should be the patient and the physician...
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:32:27 PM EDT] <Eris> <derynifank> KK did they have national health in Ireland?
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:32:49 PM EDT] <Imladris> not the patient and the insurance company (or Government) and the physician.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:33:07 PM EDT] <DesertRose> The PA who does my Botox injections (for migraines) said he had to do a peer-to-peer with an insurance company because they'd approved a lumbar puncture but denied the CT scan of the brain beforehand.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:34:21 PM EDT] <Eris> <Bethane> Oh great, cat just barfed... brb
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:34:23 PM EDT] <Imladris> I always said... the second most important think I learned in Med school was.. if I should ever find my self indigent and needing care and show up at county charity hospital.... when they ask if I was in military... SAY NO
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:34:27 PM EDT] <DesertRose> (For the non-medical types, they do a CT scan of the brain before they do a lumbar puncture/spinal tap to make sure that the cerebrospinal fluid pressure is at a safe level and the puncture won't, oh, you know, cause irreversible and possibly fatal brain damage.)
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:34:42 PM EDT] Quit KK has left this server (Ping timeout: 120 seconds).
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:34:46 PM EDT] <Eris> <bynw> cat barf ... always fun
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:34:51 PM EDT] <Eris> <bynw> oops just lost KK
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:34:52 PM EDT] <DesertRose> We lost KK.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:35:00 PM EDT] <Eris> <derynifank> Oops
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:35:30 PM EDT] <The_Bee> She'll return, I hope.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:35:58 PM EDT] <Imladris> DR, as they say.. (the insurance companies) they aren't denying the care....
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:36:05 PM EDT] <Eris> <derynifank> I have never thought that dragging and already ill person into an office to sit around with a lot of other ill people was a good idea
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:36:07 PM EDT] <Imladris> just whether they will pay for it
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:37:08 PM EDT] <Eris> <derynifank> But since most people do not have the resources to pay out of pocket, they are in trugh denying care
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:37:36 PM EDT] <Eris> <Jerusha2> Hi Everyone!
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:37:58 PM EDT] <Imladris> The other side of Government health care is lack of options. My brother in law's father lived in Montreal, and needed a pacemaker.. was told could be done in 13 months...
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:38:18 PM EDT] <DesertRose> What DFK said.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:38:20 PM EDT] <Imladris> when it was note he could die in that time... was told then someone else will move up
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:38:37 PM EDT] <Eris> <derynifank> Hi Jerusha
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:38:47 PM EDT] <Imladris> hi Jerusha
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:38:51 PM EDT] <The_Bee> Hi Jerusha
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:38:57 PM EDT] <DesertRose> Hi Jerusha.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:39:11 PM EDT] <Eris> <Bethane> Hi Jerusha
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:39:45 PM EDT] <Eris> <Jerusha2> Sorry to be late; pizza on the BBQ always takes longer than we plan for
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:39:57 PM EDT] <Eris> <Bethane> pizza on bbq?
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:40:05 PM EDT] <DesertRose> As it stands, in the US we pay far more for health expenses per capita than any other country on earth and have the worst health outcomes in the wealthy/inudstrialized world.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:40:05 PM EDT] <Eris> <derynifank> Sounds yummy though. Worth waiting for
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:40:06 PM EDT] <Eris> <Jerusha2> yep
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:40:13 PM EDT] <DesertRose> Yeah, you can cook pizza on a grill outside.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:40:42 PM EDT] <Eris> <Jerusha2> And I always put on too many toppings.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:40:49 PM EDT] <Eris> <Jerusha2> Oops
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:41:28 PM EDT] <Imladris> I love pesto sauce as a topping on my pizza
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:41:33 PM EDT] <DesertRose> Yum!
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:41:39 PM EDT] <Eris> <derynifank> Yup. Toppings can really get you in trouble
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:41:42 PM EDT] <The_Bee> Pizza toppings are limited only by your imagination (and budget)
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:41:53 PM EDT] <DesertRose> I have a basil plant going like gangbusters out on my balcony; I've been planning to make some pesto with it.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:41:57 PM EDT] <Eris> <Bethane> How 'bout donuts? 😉
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:42:19 PM EDT] <DesertRose> Donuts on pizza?
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:42:28 PM EDT] <Imladris> they had a donut with maple frosting and bacon on it here....
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:42:36 PM EDT] <Eris> <Jerusha2> Ick
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:42:40 PM EDT] <Eris> <derynifank> I love a good veggie pizza on thin, crispy crust
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:42:40 PM EDT] <The_Bee> You can make a dessert pizza.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:42:48 PM EDT] <DesertRose> True, Bee.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:43:01 PM EDT] <Eris> <Bethane> I've seen the maple/bacon donuts... maple is about the only regular kind of donut I'm not fond of
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:43:04 PM EDT] <DesertRose> I like a veggie or plain cheese pizza on thin crust too.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:43:10 PM EDT] <Imladris> and there is a place here that has a donut instead of a bun for the burger..
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:43:18 PM EDT] <Eris> <Jerusha2> Saw an ad from Pizza hut advertising a pizza with KFC popcorn chicken on it
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:43:37 PM EDT] <Eris> <derynifank> I had a friend who made dessert pizza. The crust was sugar cookie dough
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:43:47 PM EDT] * The_Bee loves maple almost anything.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:43:52 PM EDT] <Imladris> they are both owned by Yum aren't they?
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:44:10 PM EDT] <Eris> <Jerusha2> Might be

[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:44:36 PM EDT] <The_Bee> Did you hear about macaroni and cheese ice cream?
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:44:48 PM EDT] <Eris> <Jerusha2> Ick
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:44:48 PM EDT] <Eris> <Bethane> They're owned by PepsiCo... is that part of Yum?
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:45:07 PM EDT] <Eris> <Bethane> I love mac-n-cheese, and I love ice cream, but... ew
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:45:08 PM EDT] <Imladris> << puts honey on my pizza too.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:45:16 PM EDT] <Eris> <derynifank> I did. They were sampling it on CBS this morning and said it wasn't bad, not real cheesy
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:45:24 PM EDT] <The_Bee> it was on the cbs this morning. Two of the anchors liked it.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:45:40 PM EDT] <Eris> <Jerusha2> Ice cream is chocolate. Period.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:45:42 PM EDT] <Eris> <Bethane> dfk, I make a mean fruit pizza... cookie dough, cream cheese mixed with marshmallow fluff, and fruit.

[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:46:09 PM EDT] <Eris> <derynifank> Can I come to your house for dessert?

[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:47:50 PM EDT] <KK> Where did I go? Strange. Mibbit doesn't like me tonight.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:48:04 PM EDT] <Eris> <Bethane> She speaks! She must be back. 🙂
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:48:05 PM EDT] <Eris> <Jerusha2> I'm sure it's not personal
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:48:12 PM EDT] <DesertRose> We need to plant Gus on KK's lap so she can't move, LOL.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:48:18 PM EDT] <The_Bee> I use kiwi.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:48:22 PM EDT] <Eris> <Bethane> Oooh, good plan
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:48:24 PM EDT] <KK> Yep, I'm back. No idea what Mibbit did to me.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:48:27 PM EDT] <Imladris> am in kiwi too....
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:48:30 PM EDT] <Imladris> seems stable
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:48:51 PM EDT] <KK> Is this Kiwi?
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:48:55 PM EDT] <DesertRose> Computers can be cantankerous.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:49:03 PM EDT] <The_Bee> We're talking about pizza.

[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:50:16 PM EDT] <The_Bee> Was that you, Desert Rose?
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:50:17 PM EDT] <Imladris> KK, do you still do Chessiecon?
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:50:26 PM EDT] <KK> OK, now do we really have 10 people ehre?
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:50:28 PM EDT] <Eris> <bynw> i think the kiwi web client is a bit more stable than mibbit.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:50:37 PM EDT] <DesertRose> Yup, I was trying to figure out where KK was, client was. She's on Kiwi.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:50:52 PM EDT] <DesertRose> *client-wise
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:51:01 PM EDT] <Eris> <bynw> we've got more across the bridge on Discord
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:51:03 PM EDT] <KK> That's changed, then. I've been using Mibbit for months and never had a problem before. Ah, well. Kiwi it is.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:51:50 PM EDT] <DesertRose> Incidentally, forgive me for any weird-even-for-me weirdness. The ankle is still being a problem, and I am presently quite loopy on Lortab.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:51:55 PM EDT] <KK> Haven't done Chessiecon for several years. It isn't the same as Darkovercon.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:52:04 PM EDT] <The_Bee> When I firsttried kiwi today, I got 403 Forbidden. Second try worked fine.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:52:24 PM EDT] <Imladris> I know.. went to the last Darkover... but been too busy to even look of late.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:53:28 PM EDT] <KK> Also, it wouldn't be the same without Scott. I'm still thinking about Dragoncon, but knee is still iffy for that much flying, plus it's such a large con, even though I've had both my shots.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:54:04 PM EDT] <Eris> <bynw> dragon*con is generally large spread out too. lots of walking unless you get a scooter
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:54:28 PM EDT] <Imladris> Understand.. picturing KK on a Segway....
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:54:43 PM EDT] <KK> They've gotten me a scooter the last 2 times I went. Would do it again this year, but it's the airports that aare daunting, even with wheelchair assistance.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:55:20 PM EDT] <Eris> <derynifank> I'm back
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:55:29 PM EDT] <KK> Welcome!
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:55:31 PM EDT] <Eris> <Bethane> @KK, at last week's zoom, you'd said you've been thinking about Road to Killingford more lately... are you thinking of that as a single book or a trilogy?
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:55:35 PM EDT] <Imladris> And Atlanta is not a wonderful airport.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:55:35 PM EDT] <The_Bee> rehi!
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:56:12 PM EDT] <KK> Probably a singleton, like King Kelson's Bride. I doubt I'll do more trilogies.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:56:19 PM EDT] <KK> Been there, done that.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:56:26 PM EDT] <Eris> <derynifank> We were discussing earlier all the story possibilities from the GotP game
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:56:40 PM EDT] <Imladris> 5 times. done that.....
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:56:45 PM EDT] <Eris> <Bethane> Woot! Less waiting time, then. 🙂
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:56:54 PM EDT] <KK> No, Atlanta is not great. Nor is Charlotte, where I'd have to change planes.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:57:51 PM EDT] <Imladris> Good point, Bethane. I have had to wait for all except the first one.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:58:12 PM EDT] <Imladris> although.. nothing like waiting for the first Codex...
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:58:23 PM EDT] <KK> If I wanted to do Chessiecon, I could now do it in my new Derynimobile. Love the new wheels!
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:58:37 PM EDT] <KK> 2018 Subaru Outback, Michaeline blue.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:58:42 PM EDT] <Imladris> was in forthcoming books in about 1981 or so....
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:58:46 PM EDT] <Eris> <Jerusha2> Excellent, KK
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:59:10 PM EDT] <The_Bee> Deryni Rising worked as a solo. I was delighted when I found the sequel
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:59:16 PM EDT] <Eris> <Bethane> Yeah, Camber the Heretic hadn't yet been released when I caught on.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:59:23 PM EDT] <Eris> <derynifank> Hear lots of good things about Suburus
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:59:45 PM EDT] <Eris> <Jerusha2> I'm looking to have one as my next car.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [7:59:51 PM EDT] <Eris> <Jerusha2> Whenever that might be
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:00:05 PM EDT] <Imladris> Camber of Culdi came out just as I finished the first trilogy
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:00:23 PM EDT] <KK> I've tried to make all of the books able to stand on their own. But of course it helps if you read them in the orde
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:00:24 PM EDT] <KK> r they were written.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:00:32 PM EDT] <Imladris> I got a Rav4.. but it complains I think it is a Jeep.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:00:58 PM EDT] <Imladris> When I take it up dirt roads in the mountains..
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:00:59 PM EDT] <KK> Subarus are excellent cars! The best I've ever owned.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:01:03 PM EDT] <The_Bee> Deryni Checkmate had a bit of a an unfinished ending.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:01:07 PM EDT] <Eris> <derynifank> Too much off roading?
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:01:21 PM EDT] <Eris> <Bethane> As I recall, I found Deryni Checkmate first, but then realized it was part of a series so had to go track down the first one.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:01:33 PM EDT] <Imladris> Bee.. yes.. you missed the part about Bronwyn now being a dragon.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:01:35 PM EDT] <Eris> <Bethane> And then, of course, the third one. Which I devoured while we were on vacation.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:01:57 PM EDT] <The_Bee> I found DR at the library where I worked at the time.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:02:02 PM EDT] <Eris> <Jerusha2> Bronwyn is a dragon?
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:02:15 PM EDT] <Imladris> yep.. her pic is in Rhemuth Castle
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:02:18 PM EDT] <Eris> <derynifank> A bearded dragon.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:02:29 PM EDT] <Eris> <Bethane> (Trying to read three conversations at once here is highly amusing)
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:02:37 PM EDT] <KK> I'm reading the Alex Cross novels right now, in order, and learning a bit from his writing style.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:02:41 PM EDT] <Eris> <Jerusha2> Oh, that cute dragon! Didn't make the reference
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:02:49 PM EDT] <Imladris> I went to work at a book store part time... and so was constantly checking forthcoming books
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:02:54 PM EDT] <The_Bee> Reincarnation can do wondrous things.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:03:03 PM EDT] <Eris> <Bethane> Bee, lol!
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:03:33 PM EDT] <Eris> <Bethane> What kinds of useful things are you finding from Alex Cross, @KK?
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:03:47 PM EDT] <The_Bee> BRB. Melantha's complaining about something.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:04:31 PM EDT] <The_Bee> Nevwemind ,she's here.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:04:39 PM EDT] <DesertRose> I've been plaguing my library with ILL for Nigel Tranter; my local system doesn't have any of his books, but ILL is wonderful.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:04:40 PM EDT] <KK> I like the way Cross's chapters are told inthe first person, and then everyone else is third person, with their respective chapters. The short chapters lend themselves to that handling, too.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:04:48 PM EDT] <Eris> <derynifank> How is she doing?
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:05:33 PM EDT] <The_Bee> Melantha? not eating enough, doesn't like her pills.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:05:53 PM EDT] <The_Bee> noisier than she used to be.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:05:54 PM EDT] <Eris> <Bethane> I'm told first person has really become much more populara these days. I still prefer 3rd person, personally...
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:06:15 PM EDT] <KK> So do I. But first person has its uses, too.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:06:51 PM EDT] <The_Bee> I liked Andre Norton's books when the characters took turns narrating.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:07:05 PM EDT] <DesertRose> It depends on the story. I find 3rd person easier to write, but some stories just don't flow in 3rd.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:07:09 PM EDT] <Eris> <Bethane> It does help you get to know the thought processes of the POV character a little better, doesn't it?
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:07:29 PM EDT] <KK> Andre Norton was the first SF I read, in about the 5th grade. Starman's Son was the first.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:07:31 PM EDT] <DesertRose> A friend lent me the four novellas and first novel of the Murderbot diaries, and I don't think those would work in 3rd person.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:08:02 PM EDT] <KK> Murderbot Diaries?
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:08:13 PM EDT] <Eris> <Jerusha2> I think she did Moon of Three Rings, one of my favourites
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:08:27 PM EDT] <The_Bee> Bram Stoker's Dracula made excellent use of letters and journals. You knew only what the character knew at the time.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:09:00 PM EDT] <KK> That's one of the downsides of first person. You can only deal with what the character knows.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:09:36 PM EDT] <DesertRose> Author is Martha Wells, and the series is far future soft SF; the narrating character is a construct of biological and robotic components designed to be a security guard-type robot.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:09:38 PM EDT] <Eris> <Bethane> Same holds true for deep 3rd person. Pros and cons...
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:09:55 PM EDT] <Imladris> @kk yeah, otherwise is like God-moding in roleplay
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:10:04 PM EDT] <DesertRose> And there are a lot of biological-robotic constructs in the society, for different uses.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:10:05 PM EDT] <The_Bee> One author had her protagonist point that out. If she can tell the story, you know she survived.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:10:59 PM EDT] <Eris> <Bethane> Of course, one always hopes the protagonist of the book you're enjoying does survive.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:11:09 PM EDT] <DesertRose> But this one has hacked itself, and has named itself Murderbot. It's really a neat series, a fairly quick read but dense enough to re-read and analyze if you feel like it.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:11:11 PM EDT] <Imladris> ummm Javan?
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:11:16 PM EDT] <Eris> <Bethane> Author risks annoying a lot of readers if they kill off protag without a dang good reason.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:11:30 PM EDT] <Imladris> Rhys?
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:11:42 PM EDT] <Imladris> KK is one of the most ruthless authors I know.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:11:43 PM EDT] <Eris> <Bethane> points out the "dang good reason" qualifier
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:11:51 PM EDT] <Imladris> puts Rhun to shame
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:12:19 PM EDT] <KK> Yes, I do reserve the right to occasionally kill off major characters. That's life. ;-)
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:12:29 PM EDT] <Eris> <Bethane> It's true, she is. But we're not telling her anyting she doesn'tn already know. 🙂
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:12:46 PM EDT] <Imladris> true.. and as you noted Killingford is coming up
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:12:57 PM EDT] <KK> Oh, yeah.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:13:10 PM EDT] <Eris> <Bethane> checks the codex, counts the dead bodies...
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:13:11 PM EDT] <DesertRose> Oh, any news re the fanthology?
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:13:15 PM EDT] <Imladris> not a good year for our friends
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:13:36 PM EDT] <KK> I just have to make the time to start reading the stories on the forum.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:13:40 PM EDT] <The_Bee> I sometimes imagine a redemption for Connall. And I wish we'd see more of Bronwyn.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:13:41 PM EDT] <Eris> <derynifank> Not sure I can read such wholesale loss of life. Guess we'll see
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:14:28 PM EDT] <Imladris> sorta like 1918 or 2020..... lost a lot of people
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:14:31 PM EDT] <KK> I try to conduct at least some of the deaths off-camera, as it were. Not quite as shocking that way.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:14:52 PM EDT] <Eris> <Bethane> I was about to say that if I know they're going to die, I can take it; but on the other hand, everyone knew Rhys was going to die if they'd glanced at the timeline... and it was still a punch in the gut
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:15:04 PM EDT] <Imladris> true....
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:15:10 PM EDT] <Imladris> and true
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:15:16 PM EDT] <Eris> <derynifank> The loss of Rhys was really hard to take
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:15:24 PM EDT] <DesertRose> Yes.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:15:32 PM EDT] <KK> But sometimes good and innocent people do die via stupid accidents.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:15:40 PM EDT] <The_Bee> Yes, the genealogies are a give-away.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:16:00 PM EDT] <DesertRose> I know. I still cried like a baby about Rhys.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:16:01 PM EDT] <Imladris> Rhys = Dr. Beaumont...
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:16:09 PM EDT] <The_Bee> ??
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:16:19 PM EDT] <Eris> <Bethane> I did too... and I was in the middle of school!
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:16:32 PM EDT] <Eris> <derynifank> Me too
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:17:07 PM EDT] <KK> Yes, and the early ones locked me into having some characters die at a particular time. I was always pleased with the way I got to resurrect Camber from his earlier chronology. But one can only pull that off once.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:17:31 PM EDT] <Imladris> DR. Beaumont .. did much research on how the stomach worked and digestion due to caring for a fur hunter on Mackinac Island who was accidentally shot in the stomach and survived.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:18:05 PM EDT] <Imladris> He later was transferred to St. Louis where he slipped on the Ice.. and hit his head on a step.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:18:45 PM EDT] <Eris> <Bethane> If you could have taken out the genealogies and had Rhys survive, would you have done it? did he die because he was locked into that year and it was already Christmas day?
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:19:08 PM EDT] <The_Bee> Dr. Beaumont or the patient sliiped on the ice?
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:19:17 PM EDT] <Imladris> Dr. Beaumont.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:19:21 PM EDT] <Eris> <derynifank> Rhys
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:19:29 PM EDT] <Imladris> The fur trader died in old age in Quebec
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:19:42 PM EDT] <KK> Yep, that would qualify. Or my friend Anne, who recently had her car hit by a drunk driver who was fleeing a double hit-and-run. She was killed instantly. An amazing woman!
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:20:11 PM EDT] <Eris> <Jerusha2> Oh dear
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:20:25 PM EDT] <Eris> <Bethane> Aw, that is so rough!
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:20:41 PM EDT] <Eris> <derynifank> Drunk drivers always seem to kill others and never themselves
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:20:59 PM EDT] <Imladris> wondered if Rhys was mirroring Dr. Beaumont.. one of the ones you had read about in premed....
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:21:07 PM EDT] <KK> That's all too often the case.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:21:19 PM EDT] <DesertRose> If I were to express my opinions on drunk driving, I'd break chat rules big time.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:21:58 PM EDT] <KK> No, but I partially modeled Adam Sinclair on Dr. Taverner, from the Dion Fortune universe.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:22:04 PM EDT] <Eris> <derynifank> Trouble is if their license is suspended they just drive without it.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:22:11 PM EDT] <The_Bee> A woman in my old hometown was killed by a hit-and-run. Don't know if alcohol was involved.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:22:12 PM EDT] <DesertRose> Lots of unprintable words.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:22:33 PM EDT] <KK> There is no excuse for drunk driving.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:22:50 PM EDT] <DesertRose> A friend I'd known since first grade was killed by a drunk driver in what would have been her final semester of undergrad.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:22:56 PM EDT] <Eris> <derynifank> They need to lock them up and throw away the key
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:23:26 PM EDT] <DesertRose> She was killed on impact, her friend who was driving died en route to the hospital, and the drunk driver walked home from the crash; he was 17 and driving on a suspended license.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:23:28 PM EDT] <The_Bee> A friend once pointed out that too many restaurants are in places you can't reach without a car.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:24:17 PM EDT] <The_Bee> I believe in designated drivers.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:24:17 PM EDT] <DesertRose> And there's REALLY no excuse now with things like Uber and Lyft. If you can't stay where you are and you can't call someone to drive for you, get a ride-share!
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:24:37 PM EDT] <Eris> <Bethane> DR speaks truth!
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:24:47 PM EDT] <KK> Absolutely. And I've often been the designated driver for an outing.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:25:12 PM EDT] <Eris> <Bethane> I don't drink, so if we all ever get together, I volunteer to be the des.driver!
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:25:22 PM EDT] <DesertRose> When I was young and wild, when I went out dancing with my friends, we rotated designated driver duties so no one had to do it all the time.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:25:37 PM EDT] <The_Bee> Unfortunately, I'd have to learn to drive before I can be a designated driver.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:25:44 PM EDT] <Imladris> Imladris was never young and wild
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:25:50 PM EDT] <Eris> <Bethane> lol! Bee, I'll drive you! 🙂
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:26:09 PM EDT] <KK> I've never been much of a drinker--wine only, and little of that--so being designated driver is never a hardship.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:26:26 PM EDT] <Imladris> same^^
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:26:57 PM EDT] <DesertRose> I've never been a heavy drinker either, and none of my friends were, but we still designated a driver on our dancing/clubbing nights.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:27:02 PM EDT] <Imladris> I got laughed at for drinking hot tea at a disco
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:27:09 PM EDT] <Imladris> the once I was there
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:27:12 PM EDT] <KK> Good on ya!
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:27:17 PM EDT] <The_Bee> I've ben realizing lately how much beinga non-driverhas limited my life.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:27:23 PM EDT] <Eris> <Bethane> I always drank virgin strawberry dacquiries
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:27:29 PM EDT] <DesertRose> Yum!
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:28:04 PM EDT] <Eris> <Bethane> Yeah, you get all the deliciousness without the loss-of-coordination
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:28:23 PM EDT] <Eris> <derynifank> So true
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:28:27 PM EDT] <The_Bee> One local restaurant has an "oh-no mojito."
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:28:49 PM EDT] <DesertRose> Mocktails are becoming popular, and I'm glad to see it.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:29:28 PM EDT] <KK> I enjoy sipping an occasional Chambord (Holy Handgrenade of Antioch) at the end of an evening, sitting by the first.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:29:31 PM EDT] <Imladris> I always had my comment on beer... that Anheiser Busch doesn't keep the Clydesdales just for show.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:29:45 PM EDT] <KK> LOL
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:29:48 PM EDT] <Eris> <Bethane> snork
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:29:53 PM EDT] <DesertRose> Just because you don't drink (or aren't drinking that night) shouldn't mean you don't get to drink something fun/pretty.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:30:01 PM EDT] <KK> Same for me, re beer. Can't stand it.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:30:45 PM EDT] <Imladris> BTW.. @KK that milk and wine they gave kelson.. . it is not recommended
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:30:49 PM EDT] <Eris> <Bethane> When I was young, for some reason my family took a tour of the Olympia brewery, and the smell was so bad I could never stand the smell of alcohol afterwards. and I was only 3 at the time
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:30:50 PM EDT] <KK> I did learn to drink Shandy in Ireland, but never more than one. If it doesn't taste good, or I have to make myself tolerate it, it isn't for me.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:31:19 PM EDT] <DesertRose> Not a beer fan either. The only beers I've liked were fruity. Lambic Framboise tastes like sparkling raspberries, and a home-brewing friend made a Russian imperial stout that tasted more like a fruity, dry red wine than beer.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:31:53 PM EDT] <KK> I prefer sweetish wines, which means most ly whites.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:32:05 PM EDT] <Imladris> KK lambrusco
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:32:20 PM EDT] <DesertRose> It was for an SCA brewing competition, and he added some fruit juice to it but I can't remember what fruit it was. Might also have been raspberry, LOL.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:32:35 PM EDT] <KK> Lambrusco is only ok, for me.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:32:45 PM EDT] <Eris> <Bethane> If I were going to drink, that would be what I'd be happy to try
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:32:49 PM EDT] <DesertRose> (Whatever fruit it was, the brew had to include it as part of the competition rules.)
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:33:10 PM EDT] <Imladris> if you are ever though in Michigan, the best Riesling I ever had.. even living in the Rheinpfalz .. is the Chateau Grand Traverse, late harvest Riesling.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:33:24 PM EDT] <DesertRose> Ooh! I like Riesling.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:33:24 PM EDT] <KK> Don't even care for champagne that much. Scott could never understand that. It had to be a bit sweet for me to like it.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:33:42 PM EDT] <Eris> <Jerusha2> Champagne I like
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:33:46 PM EDT] <DesertRose> Can you buy that Chateau Grand Traverse anywhere else?
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:34:08 PM EDT] <Imladris> couldn't ship to Wyoming,.. but could to FL..
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:34:13 PM EDT] <Imladris> haven't tried here.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:35:47 PM EDT] <Eris> <Bethane> Is it true that they drank beer and wine in the middle ages because the water was too unsafe?
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:36:05 PM EDT] <Imladris> @KK If you and the Michaeline chariot do go to Chessiecon, let me know please. will try and make it as well. Need to plan a trip to Bethesda for my spouse, and would do at same time.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:36:12 PM EDT] <The_Bee> Didn't they water the beer?
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:37:11 PM EDT] <Eris> <Bethane> dunno. that's just sometihng I've heard a fair amount and I don't know if it's an old wives tale or what
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:37:12 PM EDT] <DesertRose> Yes, but medieval beer had a much lower alcohol content than most modern beer.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:37:33 PM EDT] <KK> I doubt I'll go to Chessiecon, but you could still swing by and visit, if you're going to DC. Staunton is just down I81, even with Charlottesville. Not that fr. I even have a guest room. ;-)
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:37:34 PM EDT] <Eris> <derynifank> If you watered the ale, you were in trouble with your customers
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:37:37 PM EDT] <DesertRose> No, especially in cities the water was not clean enough to drink, but boiling it for beer or mead got rid of the crud.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:37:50 PM EDT] <Imladris> Thanks
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:38:33 PM EDT] <Imladris> The anglo-saxon word for Oats and Weeds were both Tares
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:39:00 PM EDT] <Imladris> you couldn't make beer (easily) from the oats. gummed up the works
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:39:21 PM EDT] <The_Bee> "wheat and tares togethr sown..."
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:39:21 PM EDT] <KK> Well, guys, all this alk of food and drink has reminded me that I need to go feed myself. I need to start doing that before chat rather than after.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:39:29 PM EDT] <DesertRose> Yup. Hops, barley, and wheat are much easier.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:39:40 PM EDT] <Eris> <Bethane> Have a great evening @KK 🙂
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:39:47 PM EDT] <Imladris> nignt, KK
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:39:48 PM EDT] <Eris> <Jerusha2> Have a good week, KK
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:39:48 PM EDT] <DesertRose> Enjoy your supper, KK. Thanks for coming to see us! Will we see you next week?
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:39:52 PM EDT] <Imladris> night too
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:40:02 PM EDT] <Eris> <derynifank> Have a good week KK. See you next Sunday
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:40:14 PM EDT] <The_Bee> Good evening, good dinner and good week, KK. Thanks for coming.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:40:19 PM EDT] <KK> Everyone have a safe week, and we'll meet up again next week, same bat time, same bat station. (Does that date me or what?) Ta-ta.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:40:25 PM EDT] <Imladris> dream well, all. need to go too....
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:40:26 PM EDT] <Eris> <Bethane> he heh
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:40:37 PM EDT] <Eris> <Bethane> g'night all those who are about to leave
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:40:37 PM EDT] <Eris> <Jerusha2> Me too. Nighters, everyone!
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:40:43 PM EDT] <Imladris> holy allusions batman
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:41:02 PM EDT] <DesertRose> See you next week, then! G'night!
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:41:29 PM EDT] <KK> Katherine waves goodnight and steps onto her Portal, to disappear in a showe
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:41:30 PM EDT] <KK> r of green sparkles.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:41:48 PM EDT] <Eris> <Bethane> can't it be green sprinkles?
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:41:55 PM EDT] <KK> Imladris, I suspected you'd catch that one. I think we're about contemporaries.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:42:07 PM EDT] <Eris> <derynifank> Only if you want to eat them
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:42:22 PM EDT] <KK> Nighters, all.
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:42:33 PM EDT] <The_Bee> I recognized it too, KK
[Sunday, July 18, 2021] [8:42:35 PM EDT] Quit KK has left this server (Quit: Connection closed).
"If having a soul means being able to feel love, loyalty, and gratitude, then animals are better off than a lot of humans."

James Herriot (James Alfred "Alfie" Wight), when a human client asked him if animals have souls.  (I don't remember in which book the story originally appeared.)
