Her Master of Horses and Hounds had sent her a message asking if he was authorized to put down every animal in the palace stables and kennels not presently designated to be shipped north to Valoret. She'd gone into a cold rage over that, told Horses & Hounds that if he ever asked something like that again she'd have him nailed up to the stable doors.

Why? Because he shouldn't be a meanie to the poor animals, or because he should have known without asking not to leave even the slightest thing of value for the Haldanes to have?
