I had a veryweird dream the other night, which may have been related to bingeing on Brother Cadfael books.

In Brother Cadfael's Penance there is one small scene which has the Empress Matilda's Uncle King David I of Scotland in it. For those across the pond it will also be helpful to know that a lot of ancient buildings are in the care of a charity called English Heritage which relies in part on properties being visited for income.

So I was at one of these properties, but as an unseen onlooker, shortly after Lockdown was ended. And there was the ghost of King David; somehow I knew that a number of ghosts had been given special permission to return from the hereafter to assist in attracting tourists, and therefore income, to such properties. He was getting very harassed, however, since his ghostly mobile (cell) phone kept going and he was being bombarded with calls from other ghosts unsure as to what they were supposed to be doing. Finally he yelled to one in exasperation "Well if you are supposed to being tortured, scream you idiot!!" Then I woke up.

I hadn't drunk any alcohol, nor eaten cheese before going to bed and I don't use banned substances - I think my imagination may be working a little bit overtime.
God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

Priceless!  I commend your imagination for its hard work!

Sounds like this could become a future story.   ;)

Oh, that gave me a laugh!

I love the thought of ghosts using a mobile phone network. The Hear After Network.

That is the best dream, Revanne.
May your horses have wings and fly!

Dreams are weird anyway.  I've dreamt of being air-dropped into any number of fictional worlds (including but not limited to the Eleven Kingdoms), of characters from fiction being air-dropped into my life, of being in various historical periods, and once, I managed to dream a map of Long Island (which I verified with a friend who grew up there).  Note:  I have never been to Long Island nor do I know anything about its geography except it's near the port of New York.

I've been on a Cadfael kick, too, Revanne.  Reading The Sanctuary Sparrow now, and still reeling from the reveal at the end of The Virgin in the Ice.

Maybe your dreams are telling you to pick up Fr. Columcil again, as soon as Life allows.  ;) <3
"If having a soul means being able to feel love, loyalty, and gratitude, then animals are better off than a lot of humans."

James Herriot (James Alfred "Alfie" Wight), when a human client asked him if animals have souls.  (I don't remember in which book the story originally appeared.)

Does that mean mobile phones will follow us and continue to torture us even in the hereafter?  Scary thought. That would make quite a story.  And poor King David couldn't do a thing with Maud.  Neither could anyone else.
