Running into a KK fan in the offline world

So most of y'all know that my book collection had to be boxed up for about eighteen months.  When I got my books back (Nov 2019) and reorganized/shelved them, I noticed I was missing a few.  (A couple of them I remember loaning out and not getting back, but a few others are unaccounted-for, and all but two were KK books)  So I took some books that I had duplicate copies of to our local heaven on earth used book shop (ETA: for in-store credit) and went prowling the racks for replacements.

When I was ready to check out, I got to the counter and they were having some computer issues, so I asked if I could set my books on the counter just to free up my hands.  The person ahead of me in line noticed the Deryni titles and said something about the pronunciation of the word "Deryni," so we got to talking about books, Katherine's and those of other authors, while the book shop staff sorted out the computer snafu.  Apparently they (other patron) used to go to cons and had met KK a few times.  I invited them to join the forum, so they may show up; who knows?

But I thought it was fun to run into another fan while going about my day.

Anyone else run into another KK fan while out and about?

That's wonderful. Used book stores are a wonderful thing. You find amazing things there.

I managed a small independent bookstore when I was in grad school. We did have excellent sci-fi / fantasy sections and (this was my pet project) a great History section. I had pretty much free rein to build that up! I miss those days--- talking to people about books, telling them about recommendations. Met some very good folks there, including a few Deryni fans. And I did make a point of recommending KK books to people who were fantasy readers.
