[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:06:49 PM EST] <Evie> Hi, KK
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:06:54 PM EST] <KK> Hi, guys.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:07:24 PM EST] <Derynifank> Hi KK
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:07:27 PM EST] <Jemler> hi k k
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:07:28 PM EST] <DesertRose> Hi KK!
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:07:38 PM EST] <Evie> Wow, we haven't even set out ice cream at the quarters yet! Then again, it might be too cold for ice cream just now.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:08:20 PM EST] <KK> Never too cold for ice cream!
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:08:20 PM EST] * Jemler sets out hot chocolate, with marshmalloes and peppermint stick
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:08:28 PM EST] <Evie> Maybe in winter it should be hot beverages. Let's see....cocoa, coffee, tea, and mulled cider?
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:08:41 PM EST] <DesertRose> Maybe it was my supper that summoned KK. Homemade tomato soup and a grilled cheese sandwich on homemade bread. :D
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:08:43 PM EST] <Derynifank> Really yummy hot chocolate
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:09:24 PM EST] <KK> DR, that sounds yummy! One of my favorites.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:09:47 PM EST] <Derynifank> Can't beat home
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:10:05 PM EST] <Derynifank> Homemade tomato soup
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:11:24 PM EST] <DesertRose> It's also really easy to make homemade tomato soup. I haven't bought the canned stuff in ages, except for one casserole recipe I have that calls for the condensed soup (normal-consistency soup would make the casserole too wet) since I got the recipe.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:11:28 PM EST] <Derynifank> I read where one cook cut up her grilled cheese and put it in the soup , sounded really good
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:12:23 PM EST] <DesertRose> It dirties a few dishes, but it's an America's Test Kitchen recipe, so that's sort of to be expected, and it's really a quick recipe, especially for a soup.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:13:11 PM EST] <DesertRose> I tend to cut my sandwich in four pieces and dunk it in the soup, except the last quarter of sandwich I use to "clean" the bowl. :D
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:14:17 PM EST] <DesertRose> As far as quarter beverages go, you could sub mulled wine for the coffee as far as I care. :D
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:14:25 PM EST] <Derynifank> Good to the last drope
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:14:54 PM EST] <DesertRose> I will say, re: the tomato soup recipe, having an immersion blender speeds up the soup-making process.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:15:02 PM EST] <Derynifank> Renegade fingers tonight
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:15:03 PM EST] <Jemler> i have 4 little bottles of red wine. each bottle holds about 1 glass.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:15:25 PM EST] <DesertRose> My mom buys those little four-packs of wine bottles to use for cooking wine.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:15:47 PM EST] <Jemler> my mother got them at the moose lodge.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:15:50 PM EST] <DesertRose> She does a sauteed chicken with pan sauce that calls for deglazing the pan with white wine, and she isn't generally a white-wine fan.

[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:17:06 PM EST] <The_Bee> hi jerusha
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:17:09 PM EST] <DesertRose> BRB, tea glass has gone empty.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:17:29 PM EST] <jerusha> Hi Everyone!
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:18:01 PM EST] <jerusha> Hi KK
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:18:09 PM EST] <Evie> So I haven't had any time or energy to do any doll crafts lately, but I finally found an inexpensive Barbie that would work for a mini-me once I trimmed her hair to the right length, so i did that this weekend. Still need to change her lipstick to a more flattering color.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:18:09 PM EST] <Evie> https://www.flickr.com/gp/9573389@N08/Fmz4p5
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:18:17 PM EST] <Evie> Hi jerusha
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:18:58 PM EST] <KK> She <does> make a good mini-you.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:18:59 PM EST] <jerusha> You hair has that much curl/wave?
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:19:01 PM EST] <The_Bee> pretty lady, evie
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:19:24 PM EST] <Evie> Haven't quite worked out how to add some gray to her hair, but I might see if pastel chalk would work with a spritz of hair spray or clear matte spray sealer as a fixative.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:19:37 PM EST] <jerusha> Who needs grey?
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:19:46 PM EST] <Evie> It does now that I've cut it, especially when freshly washed and dried with a diffuser
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:20:03 PM EST] <jerusha> Nice look
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:20:39 PM EST] <The_Bee> We need a picture of real you for comparison.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:20:48 PM EST] <Evie> I forgot how much natural wave/curl I had, since when it was long the weight of the hair pulled much of the curl out. But cutting it above shoulder length and adding in some layering brings out the curl
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:21:25 PM EST] <jerusha> I have too much curl - bless my straightening rod
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:21:41 PM EST] <Derynifank> Cool picture
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:21:55 PM EST] <The_Bee> I have bike-helmet hair.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:22:20 PM EST] <KK> Goes with hat hair, this time of year. I hate it!
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:22:33 PM EST] <DesertRose> Cute, Evie!
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:22:42 PM EST] <jerusha> Yep, hat hair it is this time of year
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:22:55 PM EST] <jerusha> But better than being cold
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:23:07 PM EST] <Derynifank> Don't like hat hair but hate cold ears more
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:23:11 PM EST] <jerusha> I refuse to freeze for fashion
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:23:12 PM EST] <Evie> Easily enough done, since I just washed and dried it. Give me a sec for the photo to upload, and excuse the fluffy robe and glasses. I'm letting my eyes rest from contacts with this cold.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:23:30 PM EST] <jerusha> Sorry you have a cold, Evie
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:23:41 PM EST] <DesertRose> A woman I used to work with had a ball cap that was close to the color of her hair (she had either black or dark brown hair), and embroidered on the front of the cap were the words, "Bad Hair Day."
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:23:43 PM EST] <jerusha> Or is it cold weather?
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:24:09 PM EST] <Derynifank> Love it
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:24:14 PM EST] <Evie> I'm fighting a cold. I've been on Nyquil, Dayquil, and zinc lozenges since Wednesday
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:24:23 PM EST] <DesertRose> Since almost our entire team at the time were women, we all got a laugh out of her Bad Hair Day hat.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:24:27 PM EST] <jerusha> Oh dear. Hope you feel better soon.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:24:34 PM EST] <KK> I bought some furry earmuffs a couple of years ago. They keep the ears warm without mashing the hair. But with the hair thinning, I also really need a hat when it's really cold.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:24:45 PM EST] <jerusha> We'll try to send Bishop Duncan
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:24:51 PM EST] <Jemler> evie, you're pretty well looped. :)
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:25:17 PM EST] <Evie> Not my most flattering photo, but you can see the curls: https://www.flickr.com/gp/9573389@N08/1S2930
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:25:21 PM EST] * DesertRose is going to shut up about enjoying the fact that slightly cooler weather means she can wear her hair down.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:25:28 PM EST] <jerusha> He can't heal a cold, but his presence will make you feel better
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:25:39 PM EST] <Evie> You can send Bishop Duncan anytime
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:25:58 PM EST] <KK> You don'[t look half miserable. Great skin!
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:26:07 PM EST] <Derynifank> See the resemblance
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:26:22 PM EST] <The_Bee> I can see the wave.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:26:24 PM EST] <DesertRose> Bishop Duncan can probably ease the symptoms of the cold, in addition to the comfort of his company.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:26:44 PM EST] <Derynifank> Love the curls
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:26:48 PM EST] <Evie> The meds have really helped. I take a dose as soon as the sniffles begin to start back up, and so far it's kept me fairly uncongested.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:26:54 PM EST] <Evie> I just feel run down
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:27:07 PM EST] <DesertRose> Well, yeah, because your body is busy fighting germs, so of course you're tired.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:27:10 PM EST] <KK> When you said shoulder-length, I was picturing something shorter--which I think would look quite nice.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:27:20 PM EST] * DesertRose puts on the kettle for hot tea and/or hot toddies, whichever would be preferred.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:27:23 PM EST] <Evie> Well, it was shorter when I first cut it
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:27:25 PM EST] <jerusha> Nice curls.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:27:30 PM EST] <Evie> But it's grown out for a few months.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:27:33 PM EST] <The_Bee> Being sick is tiring.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:27:53 PM EST] <Jemler> with all the meds you're taking, we know what the the Mona Lisa is smiling for.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:28:05 PM EST] <Evie> I originally cut it just a tiny bit longer than chin length. Not quite to shoulder length.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:28:08 PM EST] <jerusha> If you need more curl, I can send you my corkscrews
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:28:21 PM EST] * DesertRose slaps Jemler with the bag from the cup of Earl Grey she made earlier.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:28:30 PM EST] <Evie> I'd love your corkscrews. :-D
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:28:30 PM EST] <Jemler> how many do you have?
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:28:44 PM EST] <jerusha> Way too many.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:28:53 PM EST] * The_Bee sets out fresh manchet bread with honey, butter and strawberry preserves.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:29:02 PM EST] <KK> Best Earl Grey available, these days, is Republic of Tea's Earl Greyer. That's all we drink here.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:29:10 PM EST] <DesertRose> Makes me think of Ramona and Susan of the boing-y red curls, I think in Ramona The Pest.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:29:21 PM EST] <DesertRose> (Jerusha's comment about too many corkscrews)
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:29:40 PM EST] <jerusha> Yep, that might be me when visiting Florida
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:30:42 PM EST] <DesertRose> LOL, jerusha, my mom and I have basically the same hair (aka slightly wavy dark reddish brown hair that manages to be fine and thick simultaneously) and she says she can count on the fingers of one hand the number of good hair days she's had since moving to Florida ~20 years ago.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:31:00 PM EST] <jerusha> Yep
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:31:55 PM EST] <jerusha> Which is why I wear it long enough to tie back
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:31:58 PM EST] <DesertRose> My solution is to leave my hair long enough that most of the wave is pulled straight. Mom's is heat-styling. :D
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:32:13 PM EST] <DesertRose> (I'm less willing to spend time fooling with my hair than she is.)
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:32:27 PM EST] <The_Bee> I like short and simple.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:33:09 PM EST] <Evie> When I was in high school, that movie "Krull" came out, with Lysette Anthony as the heroine with luxurious red curls. I wanted that look, so I got my hair permed. It looked almost that nice for maybe a week, and then I looked like an electrocuted poodle. No one told me you weren't supposed to brush
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:33:10 PM EST] <Evie> a perm!
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:33:25 PM EST] <DesertRose> Short isn't simple for me, because then I have to argue with the irregular wave pattern. :D
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:33:27 PM EST] <DesertRose> Oops.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:33:39 PM EST] <jerusha> I can so relate, Evie!
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:34:16 PM EST] <Evie> And then the top grew out. Flat as a board. So I had these frizzy curls everywhere except on top of my head, which resembled a hairy tabletop.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:34:17 PM EST] <jerusha> A perm in my hair lasts for centuries, whether I want it to or not
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:34:21 PM EST] <Derynifank> Short is sometimes ore trouble because you csn't just tie it back
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:34:34 PM EST] <Evie> You could have set a beer mug on my head
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:34:50 PM EST] <Evie> It was awful. :-D
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:34:52 PM EST] <The_Bee> I never looked good in long hair.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:35:31 PM EST] <jerusha> I find it easier to care for
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:35:43 PM EST] <jerusha> Which is probably odd
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:35:58 PM EST] <DesertRose> I do too, jerusha.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:36:02 PM EST] <Evie> If my hair is very short, it's mostly straight, and if it's very long, it's mostly straight. It has to be more midlength for the curl to show up
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:36:08 PM EST] <Jemler> brb. dinner.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:36:29 PM EST] <Derynifank> Enjoy!
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:36:42 PM EST] <DesertRose> For one, I can just tie it back/braid it if it's long. For another, I don't have to shampoo as often with it long as I do with it short, and for yet another, I can trim it myself at this length, which saves money.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:36:45 PM EST] <Jemler> Steak!
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:36:48 PM EST] <DesertRose> Yum!
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:37:28 PM EST] <Derynifank> Yay, steak!
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:37:50 PM EST] <jerusha> We had chicken
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:38:14 PM EST] <DesertRose> I had homemade tomato soup (which I made a week or so ago and froze some of) and a grilled cheese sandwich on the bread I baked Friday.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:38:18 PM EST] <jerusha> I'm not a big steak fine, though I enjoy it once in a while
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:38:18 PM EST] <Evie> Oddly enough, mine can go longer with a shampoo when it's shorter, but that's because if it's long, I have to brush it to get all the tangles out, but with it shorter, I just use a wide tooth comb made for wet hair, and that seems to keep it from getting oily as quickly
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:38:53 PM EST] <Evie> I like steak, though I don't get it very often
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:39:09 PM EST] Join Shiral (uid327538@OWIRCN-c7444ab5.irccloud.com) has joined this channel.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:39:15 PM EST] <DesertRose> Hi Shiral
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:39:16 PM EST] <jerusha> Hi Shiral
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:39:18 PM EST] <Evie> Hi Shiral
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:39:18 PM EST] <Shiral> Hello everyone
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:39:30 PM EST] <Shiral> Just back from a Christmas afternoon tea party
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:39:37 PM EST] <DesertRose> Sounds like fun.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:39:38 PM EST] <Evie> Fun!
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:39:42 PM EST] <The_Bee> Our minister hosted his annual open house today. A friend mistook my eggnog for dip and dipped her broccoli in it.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:39:45 PM EST] <jerusha> Victorian?
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:39:49 PM EST] <The_Bee> Hi shiral
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:39:52 PM EST] <DesertRose> Oops, Bee.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:39:56 PM EST] <Evie> LOL, Bee!
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:40:01 PM EST] <jerusha> Happy brocolli
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:40:11 PM EST] <DesertRose> I'm not a fan of broccoli to begin with, but I can't imagine dipping it in eggnog does it any favors.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:40:30 PM EST] <The_Bee> no harm done
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:40:32 PM EST] <DesertRose> :D
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:40:40 PM EST] <Derynifank> Hi Shiral
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:40:44 PM EST] <Shiral> My friend and fellow librarian Judy gives a wonderful Christmas tea every year. Not really Victorian, just a beautiful spread of sandwiches, cookies and cakes and tea. Good fun
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:40:50 PM EST] <Shiral> Hi DFK
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:40:51 PM EST] <DesertRose> Yum!
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:41:00 PM EST] <jerusha> Sounds lovely
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:41:58 PM EST] <Shiral> We do an ornament exchange, and then there's a fifteen minute interval afterward where you roll dice, and if you get a seven or an eleven, you can exchange your ornament for someone else's. Two of our children's librarians had quite a battle going over one ornament.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:42:03 PM EST] <KK> Sounds lovely. We went to a Christmas party last night: great food, as always, and excellent company.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:42:37 PM EST] <jerusha> Oh dear: an ornamental battle!
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:42:40 PM EST] <Shiral> I figure Christmas comes but once a year, so we might as well enjoy it!
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:43:12 PM EST] <Shiral> They did it in good fun, but that ornament went back and forth at least four times
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:43:28 PM EST] <jerusha> What kind of ornament was it
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:43:33 PM EST] <Evie> Sounds like some of our "Dirty Santa" gift exchanges we used to have at work
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:44:06 PM EST] <Shiral> It looked like a set of three ornaments that were made to look like donuts. If I had picked it, I could have let it go without any qualms. =o)
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:44:26 PM EST] <Shiral> I got to keep my little R2D2 ornament, so I'm happy.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:44:33 PM EST] <DesertRose> Aw! I bet he's cute!
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:44:35 PM EST] <Evie> Awww!
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:44:42 PM EST] <jerusha> I don't like Dirty Santa. I always end up with the box of chocolate covered cherries - which I can't stand
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:44:45 PM EST] <The_Bee> My aaunt and uncle used to have a gift exchange called "Greed" where you could swap your gift with for something you liked better.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:45:05 PM EST] <Evie> That sounds very similar to Dirty Santa, Bee
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:45:13 PM EST] <jerusha> R2D2 would be good!
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:45:17 PM EST] <The_Bee> Yess it does.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:45:35 PM EST] <Evie> Do you get the option of picking a gift from the table or taking one you like from someone else who has already unwrapped theirs?
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:45:39 PM EST] <Shiral> R2 can hang out with my Ruth Bader Ginsberg figurine
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:45:47 PM EST] <DesertRose> The minister (who also sang in the choir) of the church I grew up attending got one of those little wooden back massagers in a Christmas party gift exchange, and he held it up and asked what it was for, so someone else started rubbing his upper back with it.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:46:00 PM EST] <DesertRose> He started kicking one foot like a dog, at which point everyone else fell out laughing.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:46:10 PM EST] <Shiral> BOth. First you get to choose a package you liked, then in the 15 minutes after everyone opened them, THAT'S when you could trade
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:46:12 PM EST] <jerusha> Oh my!
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:46:48 PM EST] <The_Bee> IIRC, one gift was unwrapped at a tme, and you could only swap for one previously unwrapped. Then the first unwrapper could swap wwith anyone.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:46:53 PM EST] <DesertRose> It was a choir Christmas party, so it wasn't but about 10-15 people.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:47:27 PM EST] <Evie> The way ours worked, everyone drew a number from the hat, then you went around the room in numerical order. All the presents were on a table. The person who drew the 1 picked any present and opened it. 2 could take a present from the table or steal whatever 1 had. 3 could take from the table or
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:47:27 PM EST] <Evie> steal from either 1 or 2, etc.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:47:33 PM EST] <Shiral> We absolutely packed Judy's livingroom. All chairs, sofas and benches were occupied
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:47:58 PM EST] <Evie> Eventually there is usually a present or two that everyone wants, so we also had a limit on how often a particular item could be stolen before it was declared safe.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:48:10 PM EST] <Shiral> We regulated the trades with dice rolls. You could onlly swap if you rolled 7s or 11s
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:48:15 PM EST] <jerusha> Our limit was three
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:48:42 PM EST] <Evie> Our limit started out as three, but as the department grew, we had to limit it to two steals
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:48:52 PM EST] <Shiral> I sat back in one corner, but nobody was all that intent about trading with me.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:48:54 PM EST] <Evie> Otherwise we'd have been there all day
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:48:59 PM EST] <jerusha> But no one ever wanted to steal the chocolate covered cherries
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:49:09 PM EST] <DesertRose> Evie, do you remember the Shoutbox question from earlier this week?
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:49:26 PM EST] <DesertRose> It seems to have scrolled up out of the memory, but I think it was something about audio-book editions?
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:49:36 PM EST] <Evie> We had some really nice gifts sometimes, but also had a couple of recurring gag gifts that people would tend to get stuck with
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:49:56 PM EST] <Shiral> We stuck to exchanging tree ornaments.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:49:57 PM EST] <Derynifank> Actually I LIKE CHOCOLATE covered cherries
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:50:11 PM EST] <Evie> I can't remember for sure, DR. Maybe about audiobook editions of the remaining Deryni books?
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:50:12 PM EST] <DesertRose> I like chocolate-covered cherries if the chocolate is dark. Milk, meh.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:50:30 PM EST] <jerusha> Here, please have five year
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:50:34 PM EST] <The_Bee> milk cchocolate okay, dark better
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:50:36 PM EST] <jerusha> 's worth
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:50:51 PM EST] <jerusha> (hit enter too soon)
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:51:04 PM EST] <DesertRose> Something like that. I think sorahl wanted to know if there would be any more audiobooks being recorded, and it seems like you said something about KK and the publisher needing to hire a different narrator.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:51:24 PM EST] <Derynifank> I think the question was about plans for additional audio recordings of the books
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:51:28 PM EST] <Evie> In my wishful thinking universe, anyway
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:51:52 PM EST] <Evie> Since I reeeeeaaalllly dislike the current narrator
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:51:58 PM EST] <DesertRose> Some of the Deryni books are already available as audiobooks, but I think Evie said the narrator on the later recordings wasn't that great.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:52:18 PM EST] <Evie> He is very...um....Shatnerian?
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:52:21 PM EST] <DesertRose> I haven't actually listened to them, so I wouldn't know.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:52:22 PM EST] <DesertRose> LOL!
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:52:41 PM EST] <Evie> You can listen to samples for free on Audible.com
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:52:57 PM EST] <DesertRose> The only audiobooks I've listened to were the Harry Potter series; the US editions were narrated by Jim Dale (who did a wonderful job) and I think the UK editions were narrated by Stephen Fry, but I could be mistaken.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:53:09 PM EST] <jerusha> I think I prefer my own imagination to audio books
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:53:11 PM EST] <DesertRose> My family used to listen to Harry Potter on road trips, LOL.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:53:24 PM EST] <The_Bee> I'm not that fond of audio books. I like to read in silence.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:53:33 PM EST] <Shiral> Oh dear, just had very silly image of Captain Kirk reading the Deryni books the way he read some of his Star Trek lines
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:53:44 PM EST] Join MerchantDeryni (Mibbit@OWIRCN-9b6751fa.dsl.bell.ca) has joined this channel.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:53:45 PM EST] <DesertRose> They can be useful on a road trip with a kid in the car, though, Bee. :D
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:53:47 PM EST] <DesertRose> Hi MerchantDeryni
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:53:47 PM EST] <Evie> I think my favorite inadverntently funny scene is the one where Kelson and Dhugal share rapport for the first time, which is read in such a way that one might think the narrator was describing an orgasmic experience
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:53:50 PM EST] <The_Bee> Hi MD
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:53:54 PM EST] <Derynifank> Hi MD
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:53:55 PM EST] <DesertRose> O.o Evie
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:54:02 PM EST] <Jemler> hi md
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:54:08 PM EST] <jerusha> Hi MerchantDeryni
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:54:19 PM EST] <MerchantDeryni> Greetings all.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:54:25 PM EST] <Shiral> I like Audio books when I'm busy doing some kind of task. Been listening to A Gentleman in Moscow and the narration on that book is very good
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:54:41 PM EST] <Shiral> Hi Merchant Deryni
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:54:45 PM EST] <Evie> I like them when I'm on a road trip
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:54:49 PM EST] <Evie> hi MD
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:54:55 PM EST] <jerusha> A little disturbing, Evie
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:55:13 PM EST] * Shiral snaps fingers and adds a pot of tea and a tray of rum ball cookies to the chat room table
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:55:15 PM EST] <KK> Not an audible book,k but I just had this notice: I'm pleased to let you know that THE KING'S JUSTICE will be featured in Early Bird Books (EBB), our daily deals newsletter with more than 500,000 subscribers, on December 19. The ebook will be downpriced to $1.99 across all US retailers on that day.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:55:25 PM EST] <DesertRose> I'd mostly rather read for myself, which is why I don't have a lot of experience with audiobooks, and I tend to find hearing someone read/talk (who isn't a passenger in the car with me) makes me sleepy, which is not ideal if I'm driving.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:55:28 PM EST] <DesertRose> Oh yay!
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:55:46 PM EST] <Shiral> Dang, I already own KJ
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:56:11 PM EST] <Shiral> I listen to music in the car most of the time
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:56:23 PM EST] <Evie> Audiobooks are also good if I need my hands free for doing housework, crafts, and such, but want something to occupy my mind while I'm working.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:56:24 PM EST] <DesertRose> Same here, LOL! I just checked my Kindle app, Shiral! :D
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:56:24 PM EST] <jerusha> My paperbacks are starting to age, unfortunately
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:56:53 PM EST] <jerusha> I have to be careful when I read them
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:56:55 PM EST] <DesertRose> Yeah, I'd rather have music in the car or conversation with someone else actually present in the car with me.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:57:11 PM EST] <Evie> I've collected all of the Deryni ebooks, which saves wear and tear on my paper book collection
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:57:21 PM EST] <jerusha> Having a conversation with someone not present could be interesting
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:57:37 PM EST] <The_Bee> i don't drive, so there's always someone in the car with me.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:57:37 PM EST] <Shiral> I had to replace my paperback Deryni books with hard cover editions--the paperbacks just don't hold up. My copy of Camber the Heretic fell apart on a plane trip.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:57:40 PM EST] <jerusha> Yes, Evie, I should do that
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:58:34 PM EST] <jerusha> I would to that if I could find the hardcovers (I haven't looked)
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:58:44 PM EST] <Evie> Plus, having only paper copies means I can only read them if I happen to be home or bring the book with me to read when I get a free minute. My Kindle books are available at a moment's notice anywhere I am, since i have the Kindle app on my phone.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:59:16 PM EST] <DesertRose> Well, on the phone, jerusha, but I tend to prefer not to do that if it can be avoided.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:59:18 PM EST] <jerusha> I do love my kindle when travelling
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:59:30 PM EST] <Shiral> some of the hard covers I bought second hand
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:59:37 PM EST] <Evie> Plus I have an actual Kindle for times when I don't want to run down the phone battery, but of course that assumes I've preplanned to carry the Kindle device that day, which i don't often do unless I know ahead of time that I'll have some free time to read
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [7:59:38 PM EST] <DesertRose> jerusha, if you have a good used book shop local to you, check there.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:00:24 PM EST] <Evie> I don't like to take my autographed copies places either for fear of losing them, so having a Kindle backup helps.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:00:26 PM EST] <Derynifank> I found hardback on Thrift books.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:00:41 PM EST] <jerusha> I will do that. I have a bunch of credits at our local second hand book store for dropping of books we are not keeping
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:00:47 PM EST] <DesertRose> Half-Price Books might be another good source.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:00:50 PM EST] <Shiral> And it was a slow process hunting them down.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:01:17 PM EST] <Evie> Of course I don't recommend having only ebook copies of KK's books, since it's hard for KK to autograph the electrons. ;-)
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:01:21 PM EST] <DesertRose> LOL
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:01:25 PM EST] <Shiral> Just a little.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:01:43 PM EST] <The_Bee> Has anyone tried www.allbookstores.com ?
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:01:44 PM EST] <DesertRose> No, but the ebooks do have the advantage you mentioned of being available via phone app. :D
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:01:48 PM EST] <Shiral> But e-copies are handy for traveling, as you don't have to carry the actual books
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:02:12 PM EST] <Evie> "If I mail you my Kindle and a Sharpie, would you autograph all my books?" :-D
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:02:14 PM EST] <DesertRose> Before she retired, my aunt got rather a lot of mileage out of her Kindle; her job had her traveling for work a good bit.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:02:47 PM EST] <Shiral> I have an actual kindle...somewhere. Now I use the Kindle ap on my iPad
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:03:02 PM EST] <DesertRose> I haven't bothered to get an actual Kindle, since I have the app on my phone.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:03:38 PM EST] <Shiral> I can't read on my iPhone--too dinky!
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:03:45 PM EST] <DesertRose> And there are some really nice library apps for e-reading, wherein you can borrow books from the library without having to find a parking space. :D
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:03:59 PM EST] <Evie> The upside of the actual Kindle (if it's not the Kindle Fire) is that it has a nonglare screen in addition to MUCH better battery life than a smartphone. My Kindle will last for days on a single charge, and that's with me reading for hours on end if I'm on vacation.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:04:02 PM EST] <DesertRose> Well, yeah, I scroll through pages pretty quickly on my phone screen to be sure.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:04:32 PM EST] <KK> I <have> autpgraphed people's Kindles, on occasion. But I don't think I recommend it.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:04:39 PM EST] <jerusha> Reading on my phone would be too awkward
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:04:47 PM EST] <Evie> But since these days I rarely get to read for more than a lunch hour at a time anyway, my phone app is fine.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:04:55 PM EST] <Jemler> is 'The King's Deryni' available in anything other the kindle?
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:05:07 PM EST] <DesertRose> It should be available in all the e-book formats, Jemler
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:05:27 PM EST] <DesertRose> That's usually how Early Bird Books operates.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:05:28 PM EST] <Jemler> no, i mean is it in paperback?
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:05:29 PM EST] <Evie> Also hardback and paperback, I should think
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:05:46 PM EST] <Evie> Unless it's gone out of print already
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:05:51 PM EST] <Jemler> not on amazon.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:05:53 PM EST] <Derynifank> I have it on Band nook
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:06:02 PM EST] <KK> Event Horizon is going to do a combined e-edition of Adepts 4 & 5; not shre wexactly when.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:06:08 PM EST] <DesertRose> Oh cool!
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:06:18 PM EST] <Derynifank> Barnes and Noble
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:06:43 PM EST] <DesertRose> And I think it was The King's Justice that's going to be on e-book special, not The King's Deryni.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:07:15 PM EST] <Jemler> tkj 1.99 aat amazon.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:08:06 PM EST] <KK> I've misplaced my tablet. I know it has to be here somewhere in my office. But I had to move a LOT of stuff for the enw washer to be installed on Friday, so I'm uncertain about a lot of stuff.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:08:07 PM EST] <DesertRose> Justice being an earlier publication, it might be hard to find a new copy of it, though.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:08:08 PM EST] <Evie> Have you checked the Barnes and Noble or Books-a-Million websites, jemler?
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:08:27 PM EST] <Derynifank> Barnes and
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:08:54 PM EST] <jerusha> Your washer is in your office, KK?
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:08:57 PM EST] <Derynifank> Noble has the ebook version
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:09:09 PM EST] <The_Bee> Jemler, I found The King's Deryni on Amazon.com
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:09:54 PM EST] <The_Bee> paperback
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:10:33 PM EST] <Evie> https://www.amazon.com/Kings-Deryni-Novel/dp/0425276694/ref=tmm_mmp_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&qid=&sr=
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:11:05 PM EST] <The_Bee> https://allbookstores.com lets you compare prices at various online stores.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:11:17 PM EST] <jerusha> $729 for a paperback copy????
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:11:17 PM EST] <Evie> Lord love a dayglo rubber ducky, why is there a copy selling for over $700?!
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:11:36 PM EST] <Evie> I wonder if that is an ARC?
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:11:36 PM EST] <Jemler> bn has if for 8.99 amz 8.09
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:11:38 PM EST] <The_Bee> You're kidding!!!
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:11:53 PM EST] <Jemler> i'll get it next month.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:12:15 PM EST] <jerusha> It must have illuminations and gold leaf
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:12:40 PM EST] <Derynifank> Done by hand by monks
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:12:44 PM EST] <Jemler> and been hand written by monks!
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:12:57 PM EST] <Evie> The $729 copy also says it was published in 1964. That explains the price--it's a time traveler's copy!
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:12:59 PM EST] <Jemler> dfk get outta my head!
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:13:33 PM EST] <The_Bee> Are you sure they didn't leave out a decimal point?
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:14:10 PM EST] <Evie> I'm sorry, if I'm going to pay $729 for a paperback book, it had better be hand copied and illuminated by Duncan McLain himself and delivered by him also!
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:14:32 PM EST] <Shiral> Dang, Computer rebooted on me
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:14:35 PM EST] <jerusha> And there are two at about that price
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:14:45 PM EST] <Evie> It's $729.88, Bee. So no.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:15:00 PM EST] <Shiral> And said Bishop had better be willing to do ALL the translations from Latin, right Evie?
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:15:02 PM EST] <KK> It had to go through the office. Laundry room is right next door--which is actually quite handy.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:15:06 PM EST] <The_Bee> I can't find it.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:15:29 PM EST] <Evie> Look at the Amazon link I posted above. It's showing as one of the options on that page.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:15:31 PM EST] <jerusha> Ah, makes sense, KK
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:15:49 PM EST] <KK> 1964. That would be a good trick.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:15:59 PM EST] <KK> I was still in FLorida then.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:16:41 PM EST] <Shiral> And it was before you'd even written Deryni Rising
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:17:13 PM EST] <jerusha> Well, Alaric was much younger before Deryni Rising
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:17:32 PM EST] <Shiral> They were ALL much younger before Deryni Rising!
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:17:52 PM EST] <KK> Massachusetts and Oregon. Very interesting.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:18:12 PM EST] <jerusha> Opposite sides of the country
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:18:24 PM EST] <Shiral> The Hardcover Codex remains one of the most expensive books I've ever bought
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:18:58 PM EST] <jerusha> Worth it, I am sur
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:19:00 PM EST] <jerusha> sure
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:19:01 PM EST] <Shiral> I think I'll take a pass on $700+ paperback copies of anything
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:19:05 PM EST] <Jemler> 1 sold on ebay for $3,000.00!
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:19:06 PM EST] <DesertRose> Right?!
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:19:25 PM EST] <Shiral> My copy will be entombed with me
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:19:33 PM EST] <The_Bee> Speaking of books, KK, when do you think you'll have time to visit Killingford?
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:20:02 PM EST] <Evie> If I ever pay $3000 for a book, DH will be entombing me with it too! :-D
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:20:27 PM EST] <Evie> After using it to kill me! LOL!
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:20:28 PM EST] <KK> Don't ask. Right now, I'm concentrating on getting my health sorted. Cardioversion last Wednesday went well, but I won't know until next month whether it stuck or if I'm still in AFib.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:20:44 PM EST] <Shiral> Well...I DID buy my copy when it was originallly released and at the time it cost only $50.00
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:20:56 PM EST] <Evie> Yeah, health comes first
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:21:09 PM EST] <jerusha> Oh dear, KK; hope all is well
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:21:28 PM EST] <Derynifank> Hope a fib has been defeated
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:21:32 PM EST] <jerusha> Afib?
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:21:41 PM EST] <The_Bee> Your health is important, KK. You have to be alive to write more books.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:21:55 PM EST] <Evie> That generally helps, yes
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:22:04 PM EST] <Derynifank> Atrial fibrillation a heart rhythm problem

[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:22:56 PM EST] <The_Bee> That was quick. Was it something I said?

[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:23:16 PM EST] <Jemler> her computer hiccuped!
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:23:34 PM EST] <KK> Oh, good. It came back properly. My screen was suddenly shrunk down to a narrow column, and the only way I would think of to get out of it was to bail and then sign on again. Fortunately, it worked.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:23:34 PM EST] <DesertRose> Afib is not fun. I hope the cardioversion did the trick.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:23:59 PM EST] <MerchantDeryni> aargh, my computer is acting up as well. Rebooting. If I do not return, I hope everyone has a good week.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:24:08 PM EST] <MerchantDeryni> take care everyone
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:24:09 PM EST] <DesertRose> Contagious computer bug.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:24:14 PM EST] <jerusha> Good luck, MD
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:24:15 PM EST] <DesertRose> You too, MerchantDeryni.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:24:16 PM EST] <The_Bee> see you later, MD
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:24:18 PM EST] <Derynifank> Hope you make it back

[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:25:17 PM EST] <Derynifank> They need anti viral vaccinations for computers
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:25:45 PM EST] <Derynifank> Like a flu shot for your pic
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:25:52 PM EST] <KK> Apparently that's what was going on at Dragoncon, and had been coming on all summer. Heart cath showed no blockages whatsoever, so a transesophageal echo and then cardioversion was the next step. They can do that again, if it didn't fix the problem; or we can do a cardioablation. I have no idea how long this has been going on. But no bypasses or stents or balloons are in my future, at least. And cholesterol is way low, as it should be.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:25:53 PM EST] <DesertRose> Well, anti-virus/anti-malware programs do exist.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:26:09 PM EST] <DesertRose> Well, that's good news, KK.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:26:33 PM EST] <KK> Yep. Keep your fingers crossed and the prayer wheels spinning.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:26:40 PM EST] <DesertRose> Of course.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:26:42 PM EST] <jerusha> Absolutely, KK
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:26:50 PM EST] <Evie> Absolutely
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:26:59 PM EST] <Derynifank> Hope all turns out well
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:27:14 PM EST] * The_Bee sends good-health woodgies to Katherine.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:27:23 PM EST] <Derynifank> Crossed fingers and toes
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:27:57 PM EST] <DesertRose> I know my mom's sinoatrial node malfunction didn't happen overnight; she just got gradually lower on energy, and then she wound up in the ER with chest pains, which was when they figured out the problem. She has a pacemaker now, and she's probably about due for a replacement, since that's been a little over nine years.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:28:32 PM EST] <KK> Thank you to all. And on that note, I see that it's nearly 8:30, so I'd best be moving on. I hope to be here next weekend, but Cameron and Anna are coming in on Friday, so no predicting what plans may materialize.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:28:40 PM EST] <DesertRose> I like to tease her that she blew a fuse, since SA node malfunction is basically a problem with the body's electrical current.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:28:54 PM EST] <Shiral> night, KK
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:28:59 PM EST] <DesertRose> Okay, well, we'll hope to see you, and thank you for coming to visit us. G'night!
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:29:00 PM EST] <jerusha> Enjoy family, KK!
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:29:00 PM EST] <Evie> Goodnight, KK

[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:29:14 PM EST] <jerusha> Nighters, KK

[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:29:23 PM EST] <The_Bee> We'll be glad if you make it. I expect to be at my sister's, but I'll try to drop in for chat.

[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:29:33 PM EST] <Evie> I have no idea yet what day we are celebrating family Christmas on, so I might be here next week or I might not
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:29:54 PM EST] <The_Bee> nighters, KK. glad you came and I hope your health news is good.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:29:58 PM EST] <DesertRose> I should be here to capture the log, since we won't do family Christmas until the day itself.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:30:03 PM EST] <Evie> Since if DS has to work on Christmas Day, that preceding Sunday might be the fall back option if he doesn't have to work that day.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:30:33 PM EST] <KK> Yes, they talk about the mechanics and the electricians in cardiology-speak. I've now seen both. Very comfortable procedures, though. And my cardio team is excellent. Our little regional hospital is among the top 10 or 20 in the country.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:30:36 PM EST] <DesertRose> The perils of a nurse's schedule. Since the Pod-Child works at a family practice, she shouldn't have to work Christmas day.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:30:54 PM EST] <DesertRose> Oh, that's good to know, KK! Yay for good medical care being nearby!
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:30:56 PM EST] <Derynifank> Hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas whichever day you celebrate
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:31:03 PM EST] <jerusha> I have vacation from Friday until after new year's day, so I should be here
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:31:08 PM EST] <Jemler> the techs at dialysys have to work rfom mon-mon.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:31:10 PM EST] <KK> And a blessed Christmas to all of you!
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:31:15 PM EST] <DesertRose> Same to you and yours!

[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:31:39 PM EST] <jerusha> Joy and good tidings to all!
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:31:40 PM EST] * KK steps onto her Portal, waves goodnight, and disappears in a shower of green sparkles.
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:31:40 PM EST] <Shiral> MERRY CHRISTMAS KK
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:31:55 PM EST] <KK> And to all, a good night!
[Sunday, December 16, 2018] [8:32:11 PM EST] <The_Bee> ho ho ho

"If having a soul means being able to feel love, loyalty, and gratitude, then animals are better off than a lot of humans."

James Herriot (James Alfred "Alfie" Wight), when a human client asked him if animals have souls.  (I don't remember in which book the story originally appeared.)
