[17:36] <Emily> goodnight Kiri
[17:37] <Chris> Jasta's house an hour away ... tee hee
[17:37] <hygilac> have fun bathing cats
[17:37] *** Kiri` Quit (QUIT: User exited)
[17:37] <the_Bee> Days Inn and Nights Out?
[17:37] <Rebecca> Rebecca's house 15 minutes away :)
[17:37] <Rambart20> kiri was bathing cats
[17:37] <Rambart20> ?
[17:37] <scribbler> darn -- Kiri left while I was changing CDs....
[17:37] <whytcrow> be right back...there's a shark issue
[17:37] <hygilac> going to
[17:37] <Chris> that's even closer
[17:37] <KK> Bathing cats?  Brave woman!
[17:37] <Rambart20> that is not fun
[17:37] <Chris> very brave ...
[17:37] <Kendall> I still miss my cats :)
[17:37] <Sedina> KK - that's what I said.  I'd need full body armor to try and bathe my fur children
[17:37] <Helenmary> The phone # for the Red Roof is 410-666-0380
[17:38] <KK> Shark issue?  Is she wielding a frozen tigershark?!
[17:38] <Chris> I've got a cousin that lives in Baltimore so that works too
[17:38] <Kendall> shark attacks in FL
[17:38] <KK> Where in FL?
[17:38] <Kendall> can't remember
[17:38] <Chris> that's not a good prefix for a phone number ......
[17:38] <Rebecca> Kim posted on the NG earlier that she was able to get a room and she just made her reservations at Holiday INN
[17:38] <Helenmary> I thought the sharks were just swarming...
[17:39] <Kendall> somebody got bit on the ankle today
[17:39] <the_Bee> And what is whytcrow doing about the sharks?
[17:39] <Rambart20> I think there was a 100+ on the news
[17:39] <KK> Basking sharks, then?
[17:39] <KK> And somebody kicked one?
[17:39] * hygilac is glad she does not live near the shark-infested waters
[17:39] <Sedina> another shark incident?  That's how many now that have happened in the last few weeks
[17:39] <Kendall> who knows
[17:39] <Kendall> too many
[17:39] <Rambart20> you will be
[17:40] <Rambart20> going back to school soon
[17:40] * scribbler is glad the only Sharks she's seen are hockey players....
[17:40] <Rambart20> right
[17:40] <KK> When it's really hot, they do bask in the shallows, and people do bump them with their feet, and run right into them.
[17:40] <Kendall> another good reason to live in WI
[17:40] <hygilac> I already have, Bart
[17:40] <Kendall> I have to go folks
[17:40] <Rambart20> then you are smack dab in the middle
[17:40] <Serenity> I saw on a news show that the shark population has increased because the fed govt. put restrictions on shark fishing/hunting because they were worried about sharks becoming endangered
[17:40] <scribbler> take care, Kendall...
[17:40] * Kendall steps onto his Transfer Portal, and disappears into thin air
[17:40] <Serenity> Bye Kendall
[17:40] <Rambart20> Bye Kendall
[17:40] <Sedina> Kendall - or for that matter North Dakota.  After all, I live in the state that boasts of having the geographical center of North America
[17:40] *** Kendall has left #Deryni_Destinations
[17:40] <Sedina> Bye Kendall
[17:41] <cYz> !top10
[17:41] <Bender> Top10(words): 1. KK(316) 2. Bynw(194) 3. Sedina(161) 4. Emily(154) 5. Scribbler(135) 6. hygilac(110) 7. rebecca(84) 8. duck(62) 9. the_bee(60) 10. Serenity(59)

[17:41] <cYz> hehe
[17:41] <the_Bee> Bender what are you talking about?
[17:41] <KK> Bender's counting our words?
[17:41] <Rambart20> I thought Iowa was the center
[17:41] <Chris> whoo hooo I'm number #2
[17:41] <cYz> KK yes it is
[17:41] <Chris> Yeah me too Bart
[17:41] <scribbler> and Mark says I talk too much.....ha!
[17:41] <Serenity> I made the top ten!
[17:41] <Kelos_al-Hazar> I suspect I'd be low, low on the list..
[17:41] <cYz> not only words hehe
[17:41] <Sedina> Nope...Rugby, ND is the center of the continent
[17:42] * Kelos_al-Hazar doesn't usually say much.
[17:42] <Rambart20> darn it
[17:42] * the_Bee is surprised she made the top ten
[17:42] <Mike> Chris, is there an online resource where we can learn these cool chat commands?
[17:42] * Sedina is NOT suprised she made the top ten. *sheepish grin*
[17:42] <scribbler> "Better to be silent and be thought a fool, than to open mouth and remove all doubt".....
[17:42] <Kelos_al-Hazar> !help
[17:42] <Helenmary> I think Iowa may still be the center of the COUNTRY, Bart
[17:42] <Kelos_al-Hazar> Oook.... That's NOT one of them...apparently.
[17:43] <Chris> Mike, there are tons of places ... but Bender is a special case ...
[17:43] <Rambart20> cool:)
[17:43] <Rambart20> who is Bender btw?
[17:43] <Kelos_al-Hazar> A bot.
[17:43] <Mike> one such place would be...............?
[17:44] <hygilac> WEll folks, it's been real fun today, but I must go be sociable
[17:44] <Rebecca> named after Bender on Futurama I believe
[17:44] <Rambart20> ah
[17:44] <cYz> Rebecca right!
[17:44] <Sedina> Bye Linda!
[17:44] * the_Bee thinks the _geographical_ center of the U>S>A> will stay put till another state joins
[17:44] <Serenity> Bye hygilac
[17:44] <Rambart20> futurama
[17:44] <Emily> Linda, do you have guests?
[17:44] <hygilac> See you all later
[17:44] <Rambart20> bye Linda!!
[17:44] <Helenmary> See ya, hygilac
[17:44] <KK> Bye, Linda.
[17:44] <Rebecca> bye Linda
[17:44] * scribbler is not surprised she didn't make the top 10, since she's been distracted today....
[17:44] *** hygilac Quit (QUIT: User exited)
[17:44] <Chris> Mike, if you go to www.psionics.net there is info there on NickServ/ChanServ and MemoServ  ... does the HELP button work on the java chat where you are at?
[17:44] <Bender> but i'm not as bad as my futurama brother, i dont drink, steal or smoke
[17:44] <Mike> I'll try the help button, Chris
[17:45] <whytcrow> I'm back....
[17:45] <the_Bee> sharks all taken care of?
[17:45] <scribbler> until California falls in the ocean, Bee....
[17:45] <whytcrow> my son is in florida (New Smyrna Beach) with grandma. his other grandma emailed me in a panic b/c two people gotten bitten by sharks down there
[17:45] <Emily> Wb Jen
[17:45] <Serenity> KK, Ann mentioned that the Atlas will contain building plans.  Which buildings are you thinking of including?
[17:46] <Emily> Jen, is Seth having a good time?
[17:46] <whytcrow> so I had to call my mom and ask her.  not that she wouldn't call if they *were* bitten by sharks...sigh
[17:46] <Jessie> and from which time frame -- re the building plans
[17:46] <Rambart20> when will the Atlas be available
[17:46] <scribbler> grandmas like to panic -- I think it's in the Grandma manual....
[17:46] <Helenmary> Building plans would be really interesting...including transfer portals?
[17:46] <whytcrow> Oh yes -- taught them all to play Fluxx, been beaching and going to the pool...
[17:46] <whytcrow> panic is what they do best
[17:46] <KK> Dunno.  That reminds me that I was supposed to send her some of my building floorplans.
[17:46] <Emily> Jen, that's great!
[17:47] <Kelos_al-Hazar> Fluxx is a lot of craziness...Not sure if it's fun quite yet...
[17:47] <Kelos_al-Hazar> It's too...chaotic. :)
[17:47] <Kelos_al-Hazar> You never are QUITE sure what the rules are.
[17:47] <scribbler> my mom worries about all her grandkids -- then calls me to vent, since I haven't added any to her collection....
[17:47] <Serenity> Rhemuth castle and Coroth castle?
[17:47] <Jessie> Katherine:  you mentioned "cording lore" in your books -- is there a 'source book" that one could look at for more information on this topic?
[17:47] <the_Bee> and the Cathedral at Rhemuth
[17:48] <scribbler> "Cording lore" sounds like what I went through in Java --
[17:48] <KK> Cording lore--beats me.  I haven't had to invent anything more about it since the couple of times I've mentioned it.  :-)
[17:48] <Kelos_al-Hazar> LOL!
[17:48] <Jessie> so -- one could "play" with your idea of cording lore?
[17:48] <Sedina> Of course, KK, your mere mention of it has got us running rampant with speculation.
[17:49] <Kelos_al-Hazar> Cording lore...would that have something to do with
macrame?
[17:49] <KK> Ya gotta understand that a lot of this sort of thing gets invented on the fly, because you need a gimmick to make a scene work--and if you're lucky, it all hangs together and doesn't come back to haunt you.
[17:49] <whytcrow> that has made it very hard to codify the magic rules. ;)
[17:49] <Mike> Scott Cunningham deals with cording lore a bit in his wiccan books
[17:49] <Kelos_al-Hazar> Set is really difficult...
[17:49] <KK> Wait until you see the Zipper Sisters' articles on shiral crystals.
[17:49] <Jessie> thanks Katherine -- have a story in process
[17:49] <Rambart20> uh no
[17:50] <Jessie> we did Katherine (see the zipper sisters columns)
[17:50] * Kelos_al-Hazar is away -[ ...and AWAY I go! ]
[17:50] *** Kelos_al-Hazar is now known as Kelos[Away]
[17:50] <Rambart20> you do Jessie
[17:50] <Emily> bye Kelos
[17:50] <cYz> lol
[17:50] <KK> There are spells involving cords and knots, so it figures that the Deryni would have something equivalent.
[17:50] <cYz> even i know fluxx
[17:50] <cYz> and have it
[17:50] <cYz> i love it :)
[17:50] <cYz> though it has never been translated to german
[17:50] <whytcrow> They have a great time travel game too, called Chrononauts
[17:50] <KK> Aha.  Wasn't sure if they'd been posted yet.  Yay, Carolyn!
[17:51] <whytcrow> I doubt there games have been translated into many languages
[17:51] * Sedina had a bit of a headache after reading the Zipper Sisters' column...especially after Susan's part
[17:51] <scribbler> I liked the suggestion of a Deryni rosary with shiral crystals (been re-reading Deryni Magic this weekend)
[17:51] <Jessie> Katherine:  there was also talk of asking you if there could be a "pet fan - Cat" deryni page
[17:51] <KK> Sounds like a good idea to me.  A Rogues' gallery, maybe.
[17:52] <Rambart20> that would be
[17:52] <Rambart20> cool
[17:52] <Jessie> Shiral & hygilac will be pleased
[17:52] <Helenmary> Hmm, I seem to be getting paged from downstairs - Rainey, the senior Flat-Coat seems to think it is dinner time!
[17:52] <KK> If we've got a Deryni Kids page, why not Deryni cats (and maybe even dogs).
[17:52] <Rambart20> me too
[17:52] <scribbler> and maybe Golux's rats....
[17:52] <whytcrow> how about parrots? :)
[17:53] <whytcrow> i have cats and an african grey
[17:53] <KK> YOu have a Deryni parrot?
[17:53] * Chris will send in a picture of his silly fruit eating cat
[17:53] <Rambart20> eats fruit?
[17:53] <Jessie> Chris:  will it be eating bananas & plums in the picture
[17:53] <AnnDupuis> Why would any kind of fruit want to eat a cat? ;-)
[17:53] <Sedina> Deryni parrot...now that's go to be interesting
[17:53] <KK> I have a roll of film to go in this week, with new pics of the adult Jessicat and Nicholas.
[17:53] <Chris> ROFLMAO Jessie...
[17:53] <whytcrow> very interesting...kind of scary thought, actually
[17:54] <whytcrow> A silly fruit, obviously
[17:54] <scribbler> LOL Ann...
[17:54] <Sedina> go..got.  Silly fingers.  You got the idea though
[17:54] <KK> I have this mental image of this giant peach....
[17:54] <Sedina> LOL  KK
[17:54] <scribbler> with James?
[17:54] <whytcrow> maybe we could send the peach after the sharks...
[17:55] <KK> Now, there's a thought.  Where are those sharks in Fla?
[17:55] <the_Bee> in the water?
[17:55] <KK> Duh, Bee!  ;-)
[17:55] <Serenity> They're all around Fla.  One attack was in Pensicola, but there have been attacks other places too.
[17:55] <scribbler> they could be land-sharks -- ever seen Saturday Night Live????
[17:56] <Serenity> A friend of mine said there are a lot of sharks near Daytona
[17:56] <KK> All around Fla?  Good grief!  I grew up in Fla.
[17:56] <Rambart20> candy gram
[17:56] <whytcrow> the bites today were in New Smyrna Beach...there's lots gathering in the gulf near the south end too
[17:56] <Rebecca> yes.  I think it was in Daytona that the surfing competition got attacked
[17:56] <KK> I surprised a sand shark one time, when I was snorkeling.  (I don't know if LBM knew about that....)
[17:56] <whytcrow> Daytona is just north of New Smyrna
[17:57] <Sedina> Oh sure, KK...what a way to break it to your mother... *giggles*
[17:57] <scribbler> sharks all over Florida? Didn't know they were having a lawyer convention down there.... 8-) (apologies to any lawyers in the room)
[17:57] <KK> Just seeing if she's paying attention.  ;-)
[17:57] * Serenity plans to do her swimming in the local swimming pool
[17:57] <Sedina> She's awfully quiet...I'm afraid that we might be scaring her.  *g*
[17:57] <the_Bee> LBM I read katherine was born during a hurricane.  Want to tell us about it?
[17:57] <scribbler> she must be hunting wabbits....or sharks....
[17:58] <KK> She's probably gone for her ice-cream fix of the afternoon!
[17:58] <scribbler> oh, my -- that sounds good!
[17:58] <KK> She's seriously addicted.
[17:58] <whytcrow> mm..ice cream
[17:58] * scribbler wishes she had some ice-cream in her freezer right now....
[17:58] <Wrengl>  Ice cream is a GOOD addiction!
[17:58] <LBM> I heard that about the sharks -- don't remember that, Katherine.  Yes, 'm still here, but have been eating my afternoon ice cream pig-out.
[17:59] * the_Bee does too
[17:59] * Sedina goes to her freezer and pulls out the peach cobbler ice cream
[17:59] <Rebecca> ever since the gathering at Emily's I've been wanting to make ice cream
[17:59] <Rambart20> hey alli need to get going.
[17:59] <AnnDupuis> What flavor is she addicted to? (or does she care? ;-)
[17:59] <Helenmary> Ice cream isn't an additction, its a way of life :)
[17:59] <Sedina> Takers?  *offers some around*
[17:59] <KK> Makes this really scrummy topping that's crunchy.
[17:59] <Rambart20> thanks for stopping by KK
[17:59] <Rambart20> bye all
[17:59] <Chris> cya Bart
[17:59] <Sedina> Bye Bart...
[17:59] <Helenmary> bye Bart
[17:59] <Wrengl>  I WILL send you that recipe, hopefully this week Rebecca!
[17:59] <the_Bee> bye Bart
[17:59] <scribbler> take care, Bart...
[17:59] <Rambart20> bart steps into the tranfer portal and is gone
[17:59] <LBM> Yay, Helenmary!  You've got the right idea!!
[17:59] <Wrengl>  bye bart
[17:59] <KK> LOL.  I knew it!
[17:59] *** Rambart20 Quit (QUIT: User exited)
[18:00] <Rebecca> okay Pat :)
[18:00] <Emily> That was good ice cream, Pat
[18:00] * scribbler gets out the KIeenex as her favorite piece is playing on the CD player (Barber's "Adagio for Strings")......
[18:00] <KK> My shark encounter was when I was working at the Marine Lab that summer between jr. and sr. year at Gables.
[18:00] <Wrengl>  The recipe came with the freezer we bought at the yard sale.  It was an experiment for us!
[18:00] <AnnDupuis> ooh, scribbler, that Addagio always makes me cry, too!
[18:01] <Sedina> Oh, good song scribbler
[18:01] <KK> He was as surprised as I was--about 2 1/2-3 ft. long.  Just a baby sand shark, though, and he took off at once!
[18:01] <KK> So did I.
[18:01] <Wrengl>  I bet you did1
[18:01] <Chris> LOL I bet
[18:01] * Mike prefers '70's rock...
[18:01] <Emily> lol Katherine
[18:01] <scribbler> I had a crush on a cello player in college (after I broke up with the french horn player), and he played this piece with an ensemble for his senior project....
[18:01] <Sedina> LOL KK
[18:01] <Wrengl>  If we move to Pensacola, you will NOT see me in the water!
[18:02] <Wrengl>  At least not past my ankles!
[18:02] <Sedina> scribbler - had a thing for musicians, I take it?
[18:02] <KK> Another time, in about 2 ft. of water, snorkeling, I stuck my diving knife into the sand, right between the legs of a crab.  We were both surprised, and again took off in opposite directions.
[18:02] <whytcrow> if you shuffle your feet in the water, you'll scare them off.  sand sharks just don't like being stepped on
[18:02] <scribbler> Ann and Sedina -- I've also heard a choral version, using the "Agnus Dei" as words -- it's a tear-jerker too....
[18:02] <Emily> When I was little, we used to get dog sharks in little tidal pools on the beach after a storm in Bethany Beach
[18:02] <LBM> I grew up half-submerged in the Atlantic Ocean, but fortunately never encountered a shark.
[18:03] <Sedina> scribbler - I think I've heard that as well.  Seems to me that was one of the pieces that the Concordia Choir did when I was in college
[18:03] <Serenity> Even shallow water is dangerous right now.  That little 8 year old was only knee deep in the water when he was attacked
[18:03] <Sedina> If I'm right and it is the same piece, you're most definitely right about it being a tear-jerker
[18:03] <KK> But remember how Jeannie and I used to gather up jellyfish when there were too many to go in the water, and we'd dump them in a sand pit and shop 'em up?
[18:03] <AnnDupuis> Scribbler-- ooh, I'll need to be on the lookout for that.
[18:04] <scribbler> brb -- have to turn off the VCR....
[18:04] <the_Bee> LBM, what was it like giving birth to Katherine during a hurricane?
[18:04] <Mike> Red Sovine does some good tear jerkers too.
[18:04] <LBM> Eeek!  I don't remember the jelly fish either!  Thank goodness you both survived!!
[18:05] <Sedina> KK, you're going to put your poor mother into fits with all the stories about your childhood.  *giggles*
[18:05] <scribbler> Back -- I was taping a show on the composer John Tavener for me and my dad-in-law; I missed the first couple of minutes due to chatting....
[18:05] <KK> Re the birth, she told <me> that they were telling her to hurry up and have that baby, because they were expecting lose power any minute!
[18:05] <Rebecca> ugh.  Jellyfish .  Nice to look at only at the Aquarium
[18:05] <Emily> ACK!
[18:05] <KK> The jellyfish were not too back, 'cause we weren't in the water with them.
[18:06] <scribbler> Which hurricane was it, or would that give out privileged information (ie, age)?
[18:06] <KK> But I do remember running into one, splat across my facemask. I think I walked on water for the next minute or two, until I could get out.
[18:06] <LBM> Hurricanes were "old hat" in South Florida.  They told me they were going to turn off the power at 4:00pm, so she must have heard that and made her appearance at one minute to four.
[18:06] <KK> They didn't name hurricanes then--ancient history.
[18:07] *** Shiral has joined #Deryni_Destinations
[18:07] <scribbler> ah --
[18:07] <Mike> Now every other one is a him-a-cane
[18:07] *** ChanServ sets mode: +o Shiral
[18:07] <KK> Hello, Melissa.
[18:07] <Serenity> WB, SHiral
[18:07] * scribbler sends greetings to Shiral
[18:07] <Wrengl>  When did they start naming them, I don't remember unnamed hurricanes
[18:07] <Sedina> wb Shiral.  *g*
[18:07] <the_Bee> Hi Shiral wb
[18:07] <Helenmary> Hi SHiral
[18:07] <Wrengl>  Hi Melissa
[18:07] <Chris> wb Zipper Sis
[18:07] <Emily> hi Shiral
[18:07] * Shiral tiptoes back into the chat room and waves to all
[18:07] <Shiral> Hi KK
[18:07] <Shiral> Et al
[18:07] <KK> I rest my case, Wrengl.
[18:08] <Sedina> LOL KK
[18:08] <Shiral> Who's Bender?
[18:08] <KK> I don't actually remember unnamed hurricanes either--but I know mine wasn't named.
[18:08] <the_Bee> a Bot
[18:08] <Sedina> Bender's a bot
[18:08] <Shiral> Oh. <G>
[18:08] <Wrengl>  You aren't much older than me, Katherine!
[18:08] <scribbler> cool -- my husband just unearthed a bunch of my KK books, including Bastard Prince! More crying material....
[18:08] <Bender> sorry Shiral just ignore me
[18:08] <Shiral> Okay, Bender
[18:08] <the_Bee> and not much younger than me
[18:08] <Chris> lol
[18:09] <KK> 1944, Wrengl.  It's a matter of record, so I cannot tell a lie.
[18:09] * Shiral steps out the door, indulges in a moment of primal scream therapy, and then comes back
[18:09] <Wrengl>  Well, it's only two years before me.
[18:09] <Mike> Scribbler, re; KK's age...... she's old enough to know better and still young enough to try!
[18:09] <Chris> That was the same year my mom was born
[18:09] <Serenity> You okay, Shiral?
[18:09] <the_Bee> a year after me
[18:09] *** Sedina Quit (Connection reset by peer)
[18:09] <KK> Attaboy, Mike.
[18:09] <Shiral> Yes
[18:09] <Wrengl>  Besides, if you didn't grow up, you wouldn't have to now!
[18:09] <KK> Somebody whack peer.
[18:09] <Shiral> Just having lots of fun on desk
[18:09] *** Sedina has joined #Deryni_Destinations
[18:09] <Shiral> WB, Sedina
[18:09] <Serenity> WB Sedina
[18:09] * Chris mind-rips Peer
[18:10] * Sedina smacks Peer with the monkfish. Bad Peer!
[18:10] <Shiral> So, what did I miss?
[18:10] <Wrengl>  'bout time, Bynw
[18:10] <scribbler> wb Sedina -- a quick peering, I see....
[18:10] <KK> Hurricanes and sharks, Shiral.
[18:10] <Chris> not much at all Sedina
[18:10] <the_Bee> people playing with sharks
[18:10] <Emily> Shiral, why the primal scream?
[18:10] <Chris> opps thought Sedina has asked that
[18:10] <Wrengl>  People scaring sharks
[18:10] <Serenity> Peaches eating cats
[18:10] <Sedina> So, I take it I didn't miss much.  *l*
[18:10] <Shiral>  Hmmm, maybe this was a good day to miss. <G>  Does Alaric wrestle with Crocodiles too, KK? <EG>
[18:10] <Emily> We wacked peer for you
[18:11] <Shiral>  I'm fine, just a busy day at work
[18:11] <Serenity> Alaric the Deryni Crocodile Hunter
[18:11] <Shiral>  It was not possible to keep chatting
[18:11] *** Sedina is now known as Sedina_the_non_Shiral
[18:11] <Wrengl>  Alaric doesn't have to wrestle crocs; he charms them!
[18:11] <KK> I can guarantee that there are no crocs in the Eleven Kingdoms.
[18:11] <Shiral>  Good point, Pat!
[18:11] <Chris> LOL
[18:11] <Emily> With his faithful companion..... the Duck!
[18:11] <Sedina_the_non_Shiral> Now that Shiral's back, I need my name clarifier again.  *giggles*
[18:11] <Wrengl>  He usually has to rescue his Duck!
[18:11] <whytcrow> somehow, I think donald would get the croc hunter role
[18:11] <Shiral>  Clarified Sedina..is that like clarified butter?
[18:12] <Mike> KK, what do they put in the castle moats then?
[18:12] <Wrengl>  LOL, Shiral
[18:12] <Wrengl>  piranha!
[18:12] <Sedina_the_non_Shiral> LOL Shiral
[18:12] <KK> To the best of my knowledge, they didn't put crocs in castle moats--too cold.
[18:12] <Emily> Ben loves watching Croc Files, but thinks the guy is crazy
[18:12] <KK> Piranhas, now....
[18:12] <whytcrow> the guy *is* crazy
[18:12] <Shiral>  Obviously, they put Caradots in the castle moats
[18:12] <KK> Too cold for them, too.
[18:12] <Wrengl>  He's Aussie, of course he's crazy, Eily!
[18:12] <Mike> I see!
[18:12] * scribbler decides it's hard to chat, listen to music, AND keep her husband hard at work at the same time, so she's turning off the music....
[18:12] <whytcrow> aren't piranhas south american?
[18:12] <Helenmary> Only in the Sword in the Stone did they have crocs...
[18:12] <Chris> just as an FYI Current global users: 116
[18:12] <whytcrow> silly scrib
[18:12] <Wrengl>  Emily sorry, not Eily
[18:13] <the_Bee> stenrects in the moat
[18:13] <KK> Now, that's a possibilty, Shiral--though not in recent times.
[18:13] <Emily> that's ok Pat, :-)
[18:13] <KK> Maybe not since Caeriesse sank.
[18:13] <Shiral>  In TOrenth, perhaps?
[18:13] <whytcrow> what they need in moats is moat monsters. ;)
[18:13] <scribbler> he keeps coming in to read over my shoulder, Jen...
[18:13] <Shiral>  You have to have moat monsters for your moat!
[18:13] <whytcrow> tell him it is secret and he can't read it
[18:13] <AnnDupuis> What they *have* in moats are big floating chunks of.... er, nevermind....
[18:13] <KK> We haven't really talked that much about moats.
[18:13] <Wrengl>  Quite correct, Shiral
[18:13] <Serenity> Loris fish-- they're even colder than the moat water
[18:14] * whytcrow laughes at Ann
[18:14] <Emily> and uglier than monkfish
[18:14] <Sedina_the_non_Shiral> LOL Ann...that would be enough to keep me out of the water
[18:14] <Chris> cant have a moat without moat monsters of somekind
[18:14] <LBM> How about "growlies" in the moat, Katherine?
[18:14] <Shiral>  Well, Kelson drained his to get Sidana's ring back
[18:14] <KK> Bingo, Ann.  We do know that from CC.
[18:14] <whytcrow> ann, that's probably scarier than the monsters
[18:14] <Mike> Speaking of stenrects, KK..... I hear you wish you hadn't added that to DR.
[18:14] * Shiral things pew!
[18:14] <KK> Definitely growlies!
[18:14] <Shiral>  Growlies??
[18:14] <KK> Yeah, when I conjured up stenrects, I still thought I had to follow the rules....
[18:14] <Emily> with the fowlies
[18:15] <the_Bee> rules??
[18:15] <Mike> Oh......
[18:15] <Emily> and yuckies
[18:15] <whytcrow> you do have to follow the rules -- however, you can make them up as you go along
[18:15] <AnnDupuis> Mike: So does Katherine. :-/ No stenrects in the Deryni RPG, btw.... (except maybe a note as to why they're not there!)
[18:15] <KK> Growlies.  They used to infest the big pine trees in our back yard in Miami, and live under the bed and in the closet.
[18:15] <Shiral>  Oh.
[18:15] <scribbler> Rule 783: "Magical creatures must be as ugly as possible...."
[18:15] <Wrengl>  Ah
[18:15] <cYz> nice rule
[18:15] <Shiral>  And dangerously toxic, too?
[18:15] <cYz> than i'm a magical creatuer :P
[18:15] <whytcrow> they are a note in the "How to make Deryni High Fantasy if that's what you really want to do"
[18:15] <Sedina_the_non_Shiral> LOL cYz
[18:15] <Chris> LOL Alex
[18:16] * cYz is a critter
[18:16] <Helenmary> Hmm, the spouse has just requested my presence for a dog walk, so I'll see you all soon!
[18:16] <KK> Scribbler, what about unicorns?
[18:16] <Shiral>  Okay, Helenmary, see ya later
[18:16] <Rebecca> bye Helenmary
[18:16] <KK> Bye, Helenmary.
[18:16] <Sedina_the_non_Shiral> Bye Helenmary
[18:16] <whytcrow> bye helenmary

[18:16] <scribbler> Rule 784: "Some rules are meant to be broken".....
[18:16] <the_Bee> Unicorn in the moat????
[18:16] <Shiral>  Mabye just the dangerous critters have to be ugly
[18:16] <whytcrow> scrib:  that's rule number one
[18:16] <Shiral>  Sea unicorns, Bee!
[18:16] * Sedina_the_non_Shiral giggles at scribbler
[18:16] <KK> That sounds good to me.
[18:16] <whytcrow> I'd have unicorns in my moat
[18:17] <KK> Do they swim?
[18:17] <Shiral>  They'd better!
[18:17] <the_Bee> if they have to.
[18:17] <scribbler> Rule 1: "The author is always right."
[18:17] <whytcrow> There's no water in my moat, that way I can have unicorns ;)
[18:17] <KK> Laura Jefferson has a fine unicorn in her story for the next DA.
[18:17] <Shiral>  If you stock your moat with them, anyway
[18:17] <scribbler> Rule 2: "If author is wrong, see Rule 1."
[18:17] <Shiral>  She does seem to like them, KK
[18:17] <the_Bee> Did you read The Last Unicorn?
[18:17] <the_Bee> Seafoam is unicorns' manes
[18:17] <Mike> I think I'd like to invent a critter then.... a catonkey. Half cat and half monkey..... that way I get a cat with arms to hug me.
[18:18] <whytcrow> yeah -- the seafoam
[18:18] * scribbler awwwws at Mike....
[18:18] <KK> Well, they're a Christ symbol, and Laura studied with the Jebbies....
[18:18] <Shiral>  Oh boy, Mike, you've just invented a cat with hands!!!
[18:18] <whytcrow> i knew someone that taught their cat to hug
[18:18] <Mike> *G*
[18:18] <KK> My cats can do that anyway.
[18:18] <Sedina_the_non_Shiral> My Miss Myah hugs...
[18:18] <Shiral>  Mine don't need to, they lie across my shoulders and purr.
[18:18] <whytcrow> mine don't hug, but they do purr and let you use them as pillows
[18:19] <Rebecca> mine too]
[18:19] <Serenity> A catonkey could probably swing from the chandelier by it's tail.  That's a scary thought
[18:19] <KK> Gilly, my fluffy white cat, tried to hug me the first time I saw her--which was why I rescued her from the animal shelter.
[18:19] <Sedina_the_non_Shiral> Oh, I can't use my kitties as pillows...but they sure love using me as one.  *g*
[18:19] * scribbler wants to find a place that lets her keep cats....
[18:19] <KK> Someone recently wrote to me and said that she now knows where I got my image of Cathan having to pick only one prisoner to save, in CC.
[18:19] <Shiral>  Pan climbed onto my lap and started purring.  I figured right then that my right kitten had found me

[18:20] <Chris> LOL
[18:20] <Shiral>  I'm not even ON there!=o(
[18:20] <Sedina_the_non_Shiral> My sister actually found Myah wandering the streets as this little, tiny kitten...just begging for a home
[18:20] <Wrengl>  But you ARE the GHO!
[18:20] <Chris> well words are what you do best KK
[18:20] <KK> You were away, Shiral.
[18:20] <Rebecca> I'm still there eventhough I've been lying low
[18:20] <Shiral>  True
[18:20] <scribbler> Shiral -- probably because you just got back....
[18:20] <Mike> KK KK KK KK KK KK KK KK KK KK KK
[18:20] <Sedina_the_non_Shiral> Ah, but KK, you're an author.  It's what you're good at.  *g*
[18:20] <cYz> KK i would usually say "too much female genes" ... but i guess that just wouldnt fit you :P
[18:20] <Emily> I'm still in the running at number 5:-)
[18:21] <Shiral>  I got  your e-mail btw KK, and thanks
[18:21] <Shiral>  <G>
[18:21] <Serenity> Is Bender related to David Letterman?  He seems to have this thing about top ten lists
[18:21] <whytcrow> i got one from the humane society and one from a cat rescue group
[18:21] <Shiral>  Have you had a good writing week, Katherine?
[18:22] <Emily> My cat was a stray who showed up on our doorstep at our apartment one evening, My husband heard a meow, opened the door and said :oh no,  to which I responded, what is it,  awwwww! Since then, Ebony has always been my cat.
[18:22] <KK> Gilly was the white cat that Evaine carries around in "Catalyst."  Got her the same time as Cimber, which was the real name of Symber.  And LMB really did call him the Damned Stringbean.
[18:22] <Sedina_the_non_Shiral> Not sure where the Sadie-belle came from...other than my sister.  We were only supposed to get Myah back when we found an apartment that allowed kitties, but about a week later my sister showed up and dropped Sadie off with us as well.
[18:23] <Chris> That was a good story KK
[18:23] <scribbler> I thought Symber was the cat she was carrying -- the white cat was asleep next to Cathan....
[18:23] <Emily> Ebony looked awful when she found us too, but she's beautiful now
[18:23] <Shiral>  Pan is another one of those string-bean cats.
[18:23] <KK> Well, she probably carried both of them around like that.
[18:23] <Shiral>  Symber must have been feeling pretty relaxed =o)
[18:23] <Serenity> My mother knew someone who named a cat "Dammit".  She said it was really funny to hear them trying to call the cat to come inside. "Come here, Dammit"
[18:23] <KK> Jessicat is a stringbean right now, but she's filling out.  And her furs are growing back nicely.
[18:24] <the_Bee> IIRC Symber was the one Rhys Healed.
[18:24] *** AnnDupuis Quit (Connection Closed)
[18:24] <Sedina_the_non_Shiral> Emily - Myah's name comes from my mother's first comment when Keely showed up with her at mom's apartment.  "Oh, my...a cat."  At the time mom was living in a "pets free" apartment.  Myah quickly learned the concept of landlord alert
[18:25] <scribbler> My favorite cat when I was growing up was my sister's cat Gandalf. She adopted him after he got hit by a car; he was okay except his jaw got slightly dislocated, so he drooled occasionally....
[18:25] <Shiral>  Any new Childe Morgan news, or did I miss it?
[18:25] <Emily> LOL Sedina!
[18:25] <Emily> Katherine has been VERY productive this week , Melissa
[18:25] <Shiral>  Oh good!
[18:25] <Sedina_the_non_Shiral> Oh, Emily, it was great.  Half the time she'd disappear and we'd be sitting there going "where did Myah go?" only to look out the window and see the landlord's pickup.  *lol*
[18:25] <Shiral>  Always happy news
[18:26] <Mike> I once had a cat in a no-pets apartment. I had it for a year til one day the landlady let a repairman in to look at the plumbing. When I got home from work she said me and the cat had to go bye-bye.
[18:26] <KK> Did a lot of rearranging on chapter five, when they offer Sief's seat to Khoren Vastouni and tell him what they've learned about Sief's death.  Shiral, your giant namesake is in the scene.
[18:26] <Emily> That is a smart cat
[18:26] <Shiral>  My Giant Namesake?
[18:26] <whytcrow> i don't know but I'm scared!
[18:26] <scribbler> the big shiral crystal, I assume....
[18:26] <KK> I think I may write a short story about how it came to be in their possession.  Rob needs something new for the CSUSB gig in November.
[18:27] <Jessie> CSUSB?
[18:27] <Shiral>  Oh....The Light bulb goes on!!
[18:27] <Sedina_the_non_Shiral> Yup...she's smart.  Even have her trained not to go into the streets.  *l*  Of course, I think she knows that I'm talking about her because she's giving me "the look" right now
[18:27] <KK> Yes, the giant shiral.
[18:27] <Shiral>  oR rather, the Shiral starts to glow!
[18:27] <Shiral>  DUH!!
[18:27] <scribbler> Cal State University San Bernardino, Jessie....
[18:27] <scribbler> with Rob....
[18:27] <Jessie> yes but how do the rest of us get to read the short story?
[18:28] <Jessie> those not in California
[18:28] <Shiral>  I certainly encourage yet another story, KK <G>
[18:28] <whytcrow> me too!
[18:28] <Emily> Maybe you could bring it to Darkover ?
[18:28] <scribbler> or who won't be in San Bernardino....
[18:28] <KK> He's going to do up a special printing, and will probably make extra copies available.  And it will eventually be in an anthology.
[18:28] <whytcrow> i need to go now -- dinner time!
[18:28] <KK> Yes, I could bring extras to Darkover, probably.  We'll check with Rob on that.
[18:28] <whytcrow> i want a copy, if such becomes available
[18:28] <Sedina_the_non_Shiral> bye, whytcrow
