[07:06.12] * KK has joined channel #deryni_destinations
[07:06.14] <DesertRose> Or a grandparent.
[07:06.15] <The_Bee> cONGRATULATION, dENNIS!
[07:06.16] <Dennis> Hi, KK!
[07:06.17] <DesertRose> Hi KK!
[07:06.19] <Evie> hi KK
[07:06.22] <Shiral> They were evidently a very closeknit family
[07:06.23] <The_Bee> hI kk
[07:06.25] <Shiral> Hi KK
[07:06.28] <DesertRose> Bee, I think you have your capslock on.
[07:06.31] <Aerlys> Hello KK
[07:06.34] <Shiral> I didn't even have time to bait the Author Traps
[07:06.35] <Dennis> Thank you, Bee!
[07:06.39] <KK> Hello, all.
[07:06.50] <Aerlys> yes Bee, your typing is very loud
[07:07.08] <Shiral> We have virtual wedding cake on the table, KK. Wherever you cut, your favorite kind of cake appears
[07:07.14] <The_Bee> it's than darn caps lock
[07:07.17] <Dennis> From what I understand, George V didn't have much use for David (Edward VIII) and thought Bertie (George VI) and Lilibet would be much better for the country.
[07:07.20] <Shiral> Well... Congratulations is a GOOD word to shout. =o
[07:07.24] <Shiral> =o), I mean
[07:07.25] <Dennis> True!
[07:07.41] <DesertRose> Well, it worked out that way anyway, Dennis.  :)
[07:07.48] <Dennis> Yup.
[07:08.29] <DesertRose> So how's things, KK?
[07:08.30] <KK> I gather the wedding has taken place?
[07:08.51] <DesertRose> Not yet.  Saturday.  But we're having wedding cake to give Dennis practice in slicing it.  :)
[07:08.54] <Dennis> It's next Saturday.
[07:08.56] <The_Bee> So we won't expect you in chat next Sunday, Dennis.
[07:09.11] <Shiral> And to give Dennis a little pre-celebration
[07:09.13] <Dennis> That's... highly unlikely.
[07:09.14] <KK> Ah.  Well, good luck, and many years of happiness!
[07:09.17] <Aerlys> but I'll stand back in case he wants to practice smooshing it into someone's face
[07:09.19] <Dennis> Thank you, KK!
[07:09.40] * Shiral adds a few bottles of Veuve Cliquot to the chat room table since we're all grownups
[07:09.44] * DesertRose raises a glass of Champagne.  "Long life, and much love and laughter!"
[07:09.55] <Aerlys> Here here!
[07:10.02] * Shiral raises her glass and clinks it with DR's in agreement
[07:10.05] <DesertRose> LOL, Shiral, we've got to get out of each other's heads.  Usually, it's Evie and I doing that sort of thing.
[07:10.06] * The_Bee drinks to that
[07:10.26] <DesertRose> BRB
[07:10.29] <Dennis> Thank you again from me and the (soon to be) missus.
[07:10.56] <Shiral> So what's your fiancee's name?
[07:11.05] <Dennis> Liz
[07:11.51] <KK> I imagine you're both going a little crazy, long about now.
[07:11.56] * Shiral raises her glass To Liz and Dennis
[07:12.29] <Dennis> You could say that. It's a comes and goes thing. One minute everything is fine and makes sense; the next there's another fire to put out.
[07:13.08] <KK> That's what my future daughter says.  I did find out about wedding colors and bridesmaids' dresses and such, this week.
[07:13.15] <Evie> yay
[07:13.23] <The_Bee> "It is better to marry than to burn."--St. Paul
[07:13.23] <Dennis> That's good.
[07:13.23] <Aerlys> LOL, the last wedding we went to , DD3 who is 6 pulled the fire alarm at the reception.
[07:13.26] <Shiral> Much coolness. =o)
[07:13.33] <DesertRose> When is Cameron's wedding date again?
[07:13.43] <KK> September 26.
[07:13.46] <Shiral> I guess she felt the party needed a little more pep?
[07:13.54] <DesertRose> :)
[07:13.56] <DesertRose> Thanks.
[07:14.23] * Jerusha (Mibbit@OWIRCN-0a5ed7a7.dsl.bell.ca) has joined channel #deryni_destinations
[07:14.25] <DesertRose> So I guess we won't see you on the 27th, as you'll likely be either out of town or traveling?
[07:14.28] <DesertRose> Hi Jerusha.
[07:14.30] <The_Bee> Hi Jerusha
[07:14.32] <Evie> hi Jerusha
[07:14.35] <Shiral> Hi Jerusha
[07:14.38] <Dennis> Hi, Jerusha.
[07:14.41] <Jerusha> Hi Everyone!
[07:14.45] <KK> Yep, we'll be on the Left Coast.
[07:15.00] <DesertRose> :)
[07:15.16] <Dennis> So now that we've established that I'm pulling my hair out, how's everyone else? :D
[07:15.40] <DesertRose> Don't do that.  Liz will want you looking your best.  :)
[07:15.42] <Shiral> Not pulling my hair out, although I am on a hunt for a new bedroom dresser and nightstand
[07:15.59] <Shiral> Unless you want to wear a toupee. =o)
[07:16.11] <DesertRose> I could stand to do that myself, search for bedroom furniture that actually matches.  :)
[07:16.15] <Jerusha> I'm fighting off  mosquitoes and black flies
[07:16.28] <DesertRose> Ugh, Jerusha.  That sounds like a world of suck.
[07:16.31] <Jerusha> But not inside
[07:16.36] <DesertRose> Well, that's good at least.
[07:16.46] <KK> It doesn't all have to match.  It just has to go together.
[07:16.47] <The_Bee> We've having some much-needed rain.
[07:16.48] <Shiral> I've had my bedroom furniture since moving out on my own 27 years ago, and it was used when we bought it
[07:16.57] <Jerusha> Nice choice of words, DR :D
[07:16.58] <KK> You deserve new.
[07:17.28] <Aerlys> Sorry, distracted. The funny thing about the fire alarom bit was that the groom's dad is the fire chief.
[07:17.31] <Shiral> Went to a Danish furniture store yesterday.  Saw some very nice dressers, but a lot of them had very dark finish.  I'm afraid that would darken my bedroom too much
[07:17.45] <DesertRose> Mine doesn't come close to going together though.  My dresser is white with brass handles, my lingerie chest is kind of pale wood, and my nightstand is dark mahogany, and is actually a Victrola stand to boot.
[07:18.36] <DesertRose> But I LIKE the Victrola stand, and it was a gift from my stepdad's mother when she was still living, so I want to hang on to it, so I guess I should look for a dresser and/or lingerie chest that go with the Victrola stand-cum-nightstand.
[07:18.37] <Aerlys> Eclectic :)
[07:18.48] <DesertRose> Just a bit, but that describes my decor well in general.
[07:18.55] <Aerlys> Mine too
[07:18.58] <Shiral> They had very nice things within the budget I set for myself. Since I'm going to be living with it for a long time to come though, I don't want to make a hasty decision I'll regret.  I'm looking for a warm, light brown finish.
[07:19.19] <Jerusha> My house is decorated in early "just put it over there for now"
[07:19.27] <Dennis> That's another change. I never had anything that could be described as "decor" when I was single. :)
[07:19.27] <KK> I suspect you've had a double bed, all these years.  Treat yourself to a Queen.  In fact, consider a Tempurpedic, where the head and foot raise and lower.  Makes it infinitely easier to change the linens--though they <are> pricey.
[07:19.29] <The_Bee> like pine or maple
[07:19.32] <Aerlys> Mine is decorated in Early Demolition
[07:19.37] <DesertRose> Yeah, dark finishes are in fashion right now it seems, but if you don't have a huge room they make the room look small.
[07:19.46] <Shiral> Eclectic is good. =o) If Sherlock Holmes were to appear at my house, I'd want to keep him guessing for at least 5 minutes. =o)
[07:20.03] <DesertRose> I don't really either, Dennis, because most of my furniture is hand-me-downs from my parents.  :D
[07:20.07] <The_Bee> I can't remember where I got some of my stuff.
[07:20.15] <DesertRose> Except for the beloved Victrola stand.
[07:20.27] <DesertRose> And my dinette set I actually specifically bought.
[07:20.33] <Shiral> A lot of my furniture is in the Middle Hand Down style
[07:21.05] <Dennis> We probably won't get a new dining room set any time soon, since Missy-cat thinks chairs are scratching posts.
[07:21.10] <DesertRose> I've thought of having the recliner and the stationary armchair recovered because the color scheme is very early 1990s and dated now.
[07:21.16] <DesertRose> Shame on Missy-cat.
[07:21.22] <Shiral> I'm not really in the market for a new bed, since I bought one of those memory foam mattresses last summer
[07:21.30] <The_Bee> My cat is like that too, Dennis.
[07:21.47] <KK> All our BR furniture is antique, mahogany, except for my dressing table, which is a painted piece, a sort of pale, mossy green.  And our two nightstands don't match.  If I were starting anew on those, I might get a pair of little mirrored chests; they really open up a room.
[07:22.02] <Shiral> So do mine. Dmitri really wants to investigage the inside of my hutch, but that is VERBOTEN to cats
[07:22.30] <Jerusha> If you have a memory foam mattress Shiral, do you remember your dreams?
[07:22.35] <Shiral> I found a nightstand in just the finish I want, but it was too small.
[07:22.35] <DesertRose> That sounds pretty, KK.  That dressing table would go well with my bed, which is metal painted in several mottled shades of green.
[07:22.44] <Aerlys> No, but her mattress does
[07:23.11] <Evie> Gigi has found my lap and is blocking my view of all keys
[07:23.16] <Shiral> After the Danish Furniture store, I went to my old pal the Mountain View Home Consignment center and bought a side table for my sofa.
[07:23.27] <DesertRose> KK, revanne's sister joined the forum under the name Demercia, and will probably be with us next week for early chat.  :)
[07:23.28] <Aerlys> The only room we have with anything matching is our bedroom. We splurged several year ago.
[07:23.41] <Shiral> I rarely remember dresams, Jerusha. Even before I had the current mattress. =o)
[07:24.15] <DesertRose> She and revanne were both in chat a while ago, but they had to go to bed since it was getting a bit late.
[07:24.23] <The_Bee> Do Revanne and her sister live in Mercia?
[07:24.29] <Shiral> Since I've got my diningroom the way I want it now, I'm  ready to tackle the bedroom. But I'm going to take it slowly
[07:24.34] <DesertRose> I think they hail from there originally, Bee.
[07:24.35] <Evie> Revanne says Hi to everyone
[07:24.41] <Dennis> Oh, and thank you, KK. We're using book quotes as identifiers for each table at the reception and one of the book quotes we chose is from Camber the Heretic.
[07:24.55] <Jerusha> Best to take your time and get things you will still like years from now, Shiral
[07:25.00] <KK> It goes well with our wallpaper, too, which is absolutely gorgeous--a sort of celadon green background with Jacobean-type flowers.  I used it with a tan background in one of our BR's in Ireland, but the green wouldn't have worked in that room.  So I saved a swatch of the green, and we used it here.
[07:25.01] <DesertRose> Which quote, Dennis?
[07:25.05] <Shiral> I completely agree
[07:25.08] <The_Bee> Liz is a  fan too?
[07:25.20] <The_Bee> ofKK
[07:25.36] <Dennis> Evaine explaining to Revan that she and Rhys are "mated body and soul."
[07:25.36] <DesertRose> That sounds lovely, KK!
[07:25.48] <DesertRose> Ah, that's a very nice choice, Dennis.
[07:25.48] <KK> Will watch for Revanne and her sister next time.
[07:25.52] <Jerusha> Nice quote, Dennis
[07:25.56] <Shiral> There was a lot of lovely celadon green at Holybrooke Hall
[07:26.10] <Dennis> She's read a couple of Deryni books, but isn't a fan the way I am. We did some of my favorites, some of her favorites, and some favorites we share.
[07:26.20] <DesertRose> That sounds like a good way to do things.
[07:26.34] <KK> That's cool, Dennis!
[07:26.38] <Shiral> Two walls of my office are painted a green that looks kind of like the inside of a green melon.
[07:26.49] <KK> Nice.
[07:27.12] <Shiral> I was very pleased, since I was definitely wanting melon as opposed to lime green
[07:27.16] <Jerusha> I've never been inside a green melon....
[07:27.31] <Shiral> It's very cool, Jerusha. Kind of slippery too =o)
[07:27.34] <DesertRose> I wish I could paint my office, but my office is my living room, and according to my lease, I can't paint the walls.  They have to stay the off-white color that the building management painted them.
[07:28.00] <Shiral> I'm also thinking of painting my  downstairs bathroom
[07:28.10] <The_Bee> what color?
[07:28.10] <Shiral> I'm horrendously domestic, lately
[07:28.20] <KK> You are, indeed.
[07:28.21] <Shiral> That's kind of my problem, Bee. I can't decide
[07:28.28] <Dennis> We asked the landlord if we could paint, since some of the colors were hilariously awful.
[07:28.38] <KK> What color is it now?
[07:28.52] <Aerlys> I desperately want to finish the painting upstairs. Has needed it since we moved in 10 years ago
[07:28.58] <Shiral> A sort of yellow "Open House Realtor" beige
[07:29.14] <Dennis> I say candy cane stripes, but that's only because I think I'm funny. :)
[07:29.16] <KK> Yuck.  Does it have a window?
[07:29.21] <Jerusha> I need to get rid of the last of the salmon pink in our living room and kitchen
[07:29.27] <Shiral> The same color it was painted in order to sell it, that is. Same with the living room, diningroom and kitchn.
[07:29.38] <Shiral> It's not an AWFUL color, just very boring
[07:30.13] <Jerusha> Sounds like a " non-personality" colour
[07:30.27] <Aerlys> we need new kitchen flooring, too, but everything is just plain neutral colors right now, and I prefer a bit of color
[07:30.36] <The_Bee> Landlords and realtors go in for bland
[07:30.37] <DesertRose> That sounds like my entire apartment, very non-offensive and boring.
[07:30.45] <Shiral> I can live with it just fine in larger rooms, but in the bathroom.....I want to do something more interesting, but the sheer number of choices has stopped me in my tracks.
[07:30.52] <KK> Bathrooms are small enough that one can experiment.  You could even do nifty wallpaper.  That can be very dramatic in a small room.
[07:31.19] <The_Bee> Is there water-resistant wallpaper?
[07:31.32] <DesertRose> Yes.
[07:31.35] <Evie> You can do wall decals to brighten things a bit, DR, and peel them off when you move. They won't harm the paint
[07:31.36] <Shiral> True.  It's a half bath, so there's no shower to worry about
[07:31.58] <DesertRose> True, and I am allowed to hang pictures and stuff.
[07:32.12] <Shiral> I would HOPE you could at least hang pictures
[07:32.23] * The_Bee tries to picture Shiral taking half a bath.
[07:32.25] <DesertRose> I need to get my wolf cross-stitch thing framed so I can hang it.  I have a spot all picked out for it.
[07:32.27] <Aerlys> we had a landlord that charged for
[07:32.29] <Jerusha> I should hope you can hang pictures, DR
[07:32.34] <Aerlys> EVERY nail hole
[07:32.37] <KK> Does it have a dramatic mirror, or could you put one up instead of what's there?
[07:32.42] <Shiral> Yikes, Aerlys
[07:33.04] <Jerusha> eek, Aerlys
[07:33.13] <DesertRose> Yes, I have my diploma from medical transcription school above my desk, and a calendar hung up too, and a spot for the wolf family if I can ever find the right size frame for it. (It's an odd size.)
[07:33.15] <Shiral> It has a nice mirror--that I don't mind. But the cumulative effect is soporific
[07:33.27] <Evie> that's silly. It's not like it's hard to spackle over a nail hole
[07:33.37] <KK> White fixtures, I assume?
[07:33.51] <Aerlys> It's the "labor cost"
[07:33.54] <DesertRose> That is silly.  And if he was really wanting to be officious, he could have insisted that you spackle them before you moved.
[07:34.05] <Shiral> White toilet, wooden vanity with white sink.
[07:34.28] <Aerlys> He probably didn't even spackle them before he rented it out again
[07:34.41] <KK> Dark or light wood?
[07:34.43] <Aerlys> Long time ago
[07:34.46] <Jerusha> And probably charged for the same nail holes, then
[07:34.50] <Shiral> And then charged the new tenants for the same holesno doubt
[07:34.54] <The_Bee> I'm still reluctant to put holes in my wall, even if thelandlord wouldn't mind.
[07:34.54] <Shiral> Dark wood, KK
[07:35.13] <KK> And did you say there's a window, or not?
[07:35.17] <Shiral> No window
[07:35.34] <The_Bee> I'd suggest bright colors.
[07:35.40] <DesertRose> +http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a43/AZDesertRose/Cross%20Stitch%20Projects/WolfFamilytokeep652012.jpg,;  This is the wolf cross-stitch thing; I took the photo after finishing it and washing it.  It was drying there, and hadn't been ironed yet.
[07:36.06] <Jerusha> Beautiful, DR
[07:36.08] <Shiral> FI'll figure something out when I put my mind to it. I was thinking of a kind of seascape/beachscape theme
[07:36.13] <KK> Yes, I was going to say a jewel-tone color, as long as it isn't too dark.
[07:36.25] <Evie> pretty, DR
[07:36.28] <Aerlys> Nice work, DR
[07:36.39] <The_Bee> very good, DR
[07:36.42] <DesertRose> Thank you.  :D
[07:36.53] <Shiral> Very nice, DR
[07:36.54] <DesertRose> Now just to get it framed and hung up.
[07:37.09] <Jerusha> Was it counted cross stitch, DR?
[07:37.12] <DesertRose> I'll have to re-iron it; it's been in my cross-stitch box folded up for a good bit now.
[07:37.14] <DesertRose> Yes, Jerusha.
[07:37.32] <Jerusha> Wow, then you have my un-dying admiration
[07:37.43] <KK> Very nice, DR.  When you put that much time and effort into a piece, I've always thought it was worth it to have it professionally stretched, matted, and framed.  I believe Michael's does custon work--and they often have 50% off coupons.
[07:38.12] <DesertRose> LOL, I've seen much more complex projects.  Someone I know from another forum is doing a medieval map that the pattern is something like 20 pages long.
[07:38.17] <DesertRose> Thank you all.  :)
[07:38.27] <Shiral> It's one of those "Get around to it" jobs. Those can take a lot of initiative to take care of, sometimes
[07:38.43] <The_Bee> Isn't custom work a bit pricey?
[07:38.54] <DesertRose> I might do that, take it to Michael's.  There's one fairly near me.
[07:39.00] <Jerusha> Not always, Bee.  It depends on where you go.
[07:39.28] <Aerlys> *Yawn* I have the sleepies
[07:39.29] <The_Bee> Here in Boston everything's pricey.
[07:39.30] <DesertRose> It almost doesn't need a mat, since the pattern itself has that "Navajo-blanket" framework on it.
[07:39.50] <KK> I've done several really intricate angel pieces, some of them with metallic thread and even beads.  Lately, not so much.  I don't have a good lamp over my settee, and it's too dark in the TV room.
[07:39.52] * Shiral gives Aerlys a cup of strong coffee
[07:39.55] <Evie> Be prepared to save up, DR. Even at 50% off, Michael's is pretty pricy
[07:39.57] <DesertRose> But the right mat would set it off, nicely.
[07:40.22] <Jerusha> When you put that much work into something, it deserves a good framing.
[07:40.34] <Jerusha> Reasonably priced, of course
[07:40.38] <Shiral> I do my crocheting in my comfy chair which is better lit than the sofa
[07:40.40] <DesertRose> I did a wedding one for my then-boyfriend's brother and sister-in-law that had a little gold key that you had to embroider in place.
[07:40.55] <Evie> I got a quote, then saved up for a month or two before bringing my artwork in for framing (when they ran the special again, that is)
[07:41.04] <KK> Well, you could start by getting a quote.  Then you'd know what you were saving for.
[07:41.09] <DesertRose> I'll look into it.
[07:41.29] <KK> In fact, you could get several quotes, just to see what the traffic will bear.
[07:41.33] <DesertRose> I was actually just in Michael's not long ago, looking for paint for SCA scrolls.  The color I want, I'm going to have to order online.
[07:41.46] <DesertRose> Good idea.
[07:42.08] <Shiral> Michaels..... the store where I find things I didn't know I was looking for...
[07:42.13] <DesertRose> LOL, yes.
[07:42.20] <Evie> Yours probably won't be as expensive as mine was, if that helps, unless your needlework is over 20" x 30"
[07:42.28] <Shiral> Especially when I have a house project going on
[07:42.32] <DesertRose> No, I think it's 12" x 16".
[07:42.43] <Jerusha> New house project, Shiral?
[07:42.51] <Shiral> 12x16 should be a pretty standard size
[07:42.54] <Jerusha> Coroth? :D
[07:42.56] <KK> You'll want to allow a bit more, for the matting.
[07:43.12] <DesertRose> Yes, I've just had issues finding a frame I liked becasue it's not a super-common size like 8 x 12.
[07:43.13] <Shiral> One I'm finishing up, Jerusha. Still the Oaxacan house, although now it has a roof
[07:43.26] <Dennis> Any writing news?
[07:43.31] <DesertRose> BRB again
[07:43.34] <KK> Not this week.
[07:43.36] <Evie> OK, so probably less than $100. Mne ended up being nearly $200 even at 60% off, but that was custom sized frame, glass, and two mats
[07:43.43] <KK> BRB, laundry needs shifting.
[07:44.02] <Jerusha> Fortunately, needlepoint doesn't need glass
[07:44.03] <Shiral> Sometimes, you can buy frame sections in the sizes you need, if you have a non-standard size item to frame
[07:44.56] <Evie> actually I'll take that back, I talked them down to acrylic, which was also lighter and would let me get the frame the next price range up without breaking my budget
[07:45.02] <Shiral> Don't know if I have the patience or the courage to make Coroth Castle since besides the 5 towers, we don't really know the layout
[07:45.19] <Jerusha> True, Shiral
[07:45.25] <Jerusha> But I can dream....
[07:45.51] <Evie> But that gives you more leeway to make it up, Shiral
[07:46.06] <Shiral> You can ALWAYS dream. Maybe I'll make that falling down manor in Meara that Brecon and Richelle are dealing with. =o)
[07:46.11] <Evie> or look up castle floor plans that have five towers and extrapolate from there
[07:46.26] <Shiral> Castles are too scary!
[07:46.26] <Jerusha> That could be interesting, Shiral
[07:46.35] <The_Bee> 5 towers--4 corner towers +1 central?
[07:46.58] <Jerusha> Castles are supposed to be scary, or at least imposing
[07:47.00] <Evie> You did a Torenthi cathedral; how scary can a castle be?
[07:47.16] <Shiral> Or a pentagon with a tower at each corner. But...where would one put the Great Hall and the family living quarters?
[07:47.32] <Evie> Inside the curtain walls
[07:47.37] <Shiral> Scary!
[07:47.43] <Jerusha> It is hard to imagine Coroth with the 5 towers
[07:48.26] <The_Bee> anyone know of a real pentagonal castle?
[07:48.39] <Evie> The towers could easily be in the curtain walls with the Keep centered against the back wall
[07:48.59] <Evie> Dover is sort of a cinquefoil, I think, if I'm not mixing castles up
[07:49.07] <Shiral> Now stop making it sound so possible! I'm trying to give myself an "out" here. =o)
[07:49.18] <KK> Large castles were often quite irregular.  And one has to take the ground into account.
[07:49.20] * Jerusha tries to look contrite
[07:49.31] <Shiral> Mainly because buidling a castle gives me the willies.
[07:49.53] <Evie> I'd love to have a little castle model
[07:50.02] <Shiral> Not to say I'd never do it, but I'm going to need a little break after finishing my Oaxacan house
[07:50.09] <Jerusha> You could have a cat looking out of a tower window
[07:50.23] <The_Bee> Relax, Sjhiral. You don't have to live in it.
[07:50.27] <DesertRose> LOL, a mini-Dmitri or mini-Francesca?
[07:50.28] <Shiral> Of course there would be cats, since the Morgan children seem fond of them. =o)
[07:50.29] <Evie> Maybe to put in the background of a shot with the MiniDeryni, since obviously I don't have the space for a full 1:6 model castle unless it takes over my entire back yard
[07:50.55] <Jerusha> And there's a problem with that, Evie? :D
[07:51.15] <Shiral> Why limit myself, DR?  =o)
[07:51.16] <Evie> well, that would mean less grass to mow, but the neighbors might wonder about me
[07:51.23] <Evie> and there's that materials cost also
[07:51.26] <KK> Think of the fun Luke would have.
[07:51.43] <DesertRose> Luke has fun with anything, including vegetables.
[07:51.51] <Shiral> IF they ever saw all your doll house on sticks, they would already wonder about you. =o)
[07:51.56] <Evie> I'd have to build a bubble over it for Luke to play there, since he's strictly an indoor kitty
[07:52.01] <KK> True.  He <is> a strange cat.
[07:52.05] <Shiral> Doll HEADS on sticks, I mean. Sheeh, rented fingers
[07:52.09] <Evie> LOL
[07:52.19] <Jerusha> On the castle walls
[07:52.20] <Evie> I wondered about doll houses on sticks
[07:52.40] <Jerusha> Only in rainy season
[07:52.40] <DesertRose> "Doll houses on sticks" made me think of a doll beach house.  :D
[07:52.53] <The_Bee> I've heard of houses on stilts in flood-prone areas
[07:52.59] <DesertRose> Since a lot of beach houses are built up on stilts.
[07:53.08] <Evie> 'It's bad enough I look at those bricks made for retaining walls and wonder if I don't need a Rhemuth City Wall hidden somewhere for Duncan to stand on the wall walk of
[07:53.08] <Shiral> Raised up with lots of steps to the porch in case of high tides
[07:53.19] <DesertRose> Yes.
[07:53.36] <Shiral> I did make a Florida Beach cottage about 10  years ago
[07:53.50] <Shiral> A very simple structure, though. BUt it had a raised porch
[07:53.59] <DesertRose> And often with an outdoor shower on the ground level so you can de-sand yourself at least to some degree before going inside.
[07:54.33] <The_Bee> My parents' house on Cape Cod had an outdoor shower.
[07:54.51] <Shiral> It's a very sensible thing for a beach house to have
[07:54.58] <DesertRose> My stepdad's (age-mate) cousin used to rent a beach house for a week every summer and invite us to visit at the beach (his kids were my age), and there was an outdoor shower for the express purpose of getting the sand off yourself before going into the house.
[07:55.23] <Jerusha> Sensible idea
[07:55.37] <DesertRose> Yes.  Beach sand sticks to salty skin extraordinarily well.
[07:56.05] <Shiral> And then it gets all over the inside of your house, the carpets, the floors....
[07:56.10] <DesertRose> And it hurts if you're silly enough to forget your sunblock and get sunburnt.
[07:56.16] <Shiral> OUCH, yes
[07:56.34] <Shiral> The alternative is to go everywhere very well lacquered with sunscreen
[07:56.40] <Jerusha> We've all been that silly, at least once
[07:56.43] <DesertRose> Which I did, apparently a few times too many, according to my dermatologist.
[07:56.55] <Shiral> I get awful sunburns.
[07:57.01] <The_Bee> skin cancer, DR?
[07:57.50] <DesertRose> Dancing around the edges of it.  About every six months, I end up having to have a mole or two removed, mostly off my back, for being pre-cancerous.
[07:58.14] <The_Bee> I have moles, but so far no cancer
[07:58.18] <Shiral> Good that you're having them checked regularly
[07:58.24] <Jerusha> Yes, DR
[07:58.40] <DesertRose> I've had one taken off my right arm and one off my right thigh, but the rest of them have been on my upper back.  I was joking with my dermatologist that before too long, I'm not going to have any normal skin on my back, just scar tissue.
[07:58.49] <DesertRose> Yes, I go every six months for a complete skin check.
[07:59.07] <The_Bee> A man at chrch today had bandages on his face where cancers were removed.  Heexpects to have more.
[07:59.38] <DesertRose> Yeah, it's no joke, really.  I'm glad I'm able to get it checked and get them removed while they're mildly atypical, before they progress any.
[07:59.43] <The_Bee> I've only been checked once.
[08:00.04] <Jerusha> Yes, DR, this is good
[08:00.23] <DesertRose> Well, between living in Arizona as a kid (the sun out there is just brutal) and living near the beach for most of the rest of my life, I've apparently taken a bit too much sun despite not deliberately tanning since I was about 13 or so.
[08:00.26] <Dennis> I've got to start doing that, too. I burn alot.
[08:00.40] <KK> I go once a year, and usually get a few little skin tags frozen off.  But no cancers, or even pre-cancers.  Scott, on the other hand, who has done entirely too much top-down motoring for his own good, has had several skin cancers removed.  He has started being a little bit more careful of late.
[08:00.47] <The_Bee> My younger sister had a breast lumpectomy a few weeks ago.
[08:00.53] <DesertRose> Yeah, I hear that, KK.
[08:01.06] <KK> Bee, you should be checked every year.
[08:01.10] <DesertRose> Sun lotion is your friend.
[08:01.21] <KK> Big hats are also your friend.
[08:01.24] <DesertRose> ANd yes, Bee, get thee to a dermatologist for a good check.
[08:01.29] <DesertRose> That too, KK.
[08:01.47] <Shiral> Sunscreen and big hats, yes
[08:02.10] <Shiral> Tell Scott to KEEP being careful!
[08:02.17] <KK> Bee, how long since your one check?
[08:02.18] <The_Bee> Most of my moles are on my back where it's hard to see them.
[08:02.31] <DesertRose> I like big hats if for no other reason than that I have dark hair and a hat is actually cooler than letting the sun beat down on dark hair.
[08:02.43] <The_Bee> not sure--a year or so ago?
[08:02.51] <DesertRose> Yes, in that case, please go to the dermatologist.
[08:03.06] <KK> OK, that's not too bad.  But it's time for another!
[08:04.14] <KK> Scott used to deliberately sit out in the sun.  Not so much, since he's had actual skin cancers removed, one on an ear that involved doing a wee skin graft.  But that healed nicely.  I think he's going every 6 months now.
[08:04.41] <Shiral> The last time I was in Hawaii, I never went anywhere without sunscreen on and I deliberately wore a long sleeved tee-shirt while snorkelin
[08:04.50] <DesertRose> I did when I was a kid, but around 12 or 13, I was started on a medication that made you sun-sensitive, so I quit deliberately tanning around then.
[08:05.12] <Shiral> And I came home without getting sunburnt! =o)
[08:05.19] <DesertRose> Good on ya, Shiral.  :)
[08:05.51] * Rob (Mibbit@OWIRCN-2726fa54.res.rr.com) has joined channel #deryni_destinations
[08:05.51] <Shiral> It was a lot more fun without wincing everytime I moved, before we even get into the cancer prevention bit.
[08:05.54] <DesertRose> Hi Rob.
[08:05.55] <The_Bee> There's an almost ssuarte red patch on my cheek.  it loks like it was made by something rubbing, maybe my helmet strap.
[08:05.59] <The_Bee> Hi Rob
[08:06.01] <Shiral> Hello Rob
[08:06.05] <Rob> hello :P
[08:06.12] <Evie> hi Rob
[08:06.12] <DesertRose> Yes, sunburns hurt like the very devil.
[08:06.14] <The_Bee> square patch
[08:06.21] <Jerusha> Hi Rob
[08:06.29] <KK> Yeah, I always wear a long-sleeved white shirt if I"m going to be in the sun for very long.  And I always wear a moisturizer with SPF in it, even if I'm not going into the sun.
[08:06.29] <Shiral> Ouch, yes. Especially from the  Hawaiian suns
[08:06.52] <DesertRose> Good idea, KK.
[08:07.05] <Rob> I tried visiting a B&N today to see if I could get any Deryni books there.  Couldnt find one :/
[08:07.26] <DesertRose> That's kind of surprising given that the newest one is only about 6 months old.
[08:07.32] <Rob> right?
[08:07.53] <DesertRose> But I don't go in bookshops very often because it's dangerous for my wallet.  :)
[08:07.55] <The_Bee> +www.allbookstores.com, will give you several places.
[08:08.12] <Evie> yes, they don't tend to stay on the shelf long unless special ordered since there are so many newer titles they have to shelve
[08:08.18] <KK> I think the paperback on that will probably be out in December.  But for the others, online is probably the best bet.
[08:08.37] <Rob> gotcha. Im a younger Deryni reader, and I moved out of my parents' house a year ago, figured I'd buy my own collection
[08:08.45] <Shiral> Used book stores are also a good source
[08:08.50] <Evie> I saw TKD in stores right after it came out, but haven't looked recently to see if our store still has it in
[08:09.11] <Evie> Amazon should have them, Rob
[08:09.26] <Jerusha> Our local Coles Book store never got it in, that I could tell
[08:09.34] <DesertRose> How old are you, Rob?
[08:09.39] <DesertRose> I'm just nosy.
[08:09.42] <KK> We're going to be doing e-books of a number of the earlier books--and I <will> avail myself of some of our kind offers to proofread.  And your preference for the first narrator (or at least not the second one) for audible books has been noted!
[08:09.43] <Rob> I shall be on the hunt :)  One thing I was wondering though, should I get first editions or most recent? And 22
[08:09.47] <Evie> and the Kelson era and Childe Morgan trilogy are on Kindle too
[08:10.03] <Shiral> Proof read? =o) LIttle ears prick
[08:10.19] <Evie> KK, I'd be glad to help with proofreading
[08:10.19] <DesertRose> Cool.  It's nice to get some younger fans.  :)
[08:10.19] <Jerusha> Any help you need, KK, just ask
[08:10.34] <KK> Ah, one of the downsides of moving out on your own, that no one ever warns you about.  :s
[08:10.40] <Rob> yep, my dad got me started on them when I was only 14-16 (somewhere in there)
[08:10.46] <The_Bee> Were your parents DEryni readers, Rob?
[08:10.51] <Rob> my dad was yeah
[08:11.05] <DesertRose> I shouldn't think that there's much of a difference in first editions and later editions with the exception of the first (published) trilogy that she revised a few years ago.
[08:11.17] <Shiral> Well if you live in small quarters, Rob, getting the Kindle editions of Deryni books is a good idea. They'll take up much less space.
[08:11.30] <Evie> Rob, if you can even FIND first editions that don't cost beyond your budget, I'd say they'd be great for collector's value, but otherwise the latest edition should be fine for reading copies
[08:11.33] <KK> We're also going to be doing the e-edition of Codex.
[08:11.39] <DesertRose> YAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAY!
[08:11.47] <Jerusha> Woo hoo!
[08:11.47] <Shiral> It's also a little lower cost than the physical books.
[08:11.55] <Shiral> Woo-HOO!
[08:12.00] <Rob> My dad got me first editions of the original trilogy last year for Christmas
[08:12.11] <DesertRose> Oh, that's cool.
[08:12.11] <Shiral> What a nice dad. =o)
[08:12.16] <Rob> Im not sure if its way different than the originals or not :P
[08:12.17] <Jerusha> ThougH I did have an ebook I was reading corrupt right before the last three paragraphs!
[08:12.17] <KK> What a nice dad!
[08:12.22] <Evie> Cool, Rob!
[08:12.23] <Rob> lol I know right?
[08:12.32] <Shiral> My sister once gave me her copy of Deryni Rising and said  "Go read this and stop bugging me!"
[08:12.35] <Evie> Are you on our Rhemuth Castle forum?
[08:12.59] <Evie> argh, Jerusha, that would be so frustating!
[08:12.59] <Rob> no, I just re-discovered this site after re-reading the first trilogy
[08:13.00] <Jerusha> Nice sister!
[08:13.27] <DesertRose> Okay, join the forum and I'll approve your account.
[08:13.31] <Evie> Feel free to jump right in on the Forum as well. We don't bite.
[08:13.39] <Evie> not hard anyway.
[08:13.43] <DesertRose> LOL
[08:13.44] <Jerusha> I re-downloaded it to my PC to I could read the end!
[08:13.48] <Rob> haha will do.
[08:13.55] <Shiral> Yes, she is. It's also her birthday, today. I got the great idea to send her flowers yesterday, only to realize that FTD won't deliver on Sundays. =po\
[08:14.03] <The_Bee> +www.rhemuthcastle.com, in case you didn't already know.
[08:14.13] <DesertRose> Well, happy birthday to your sister, Shiral.  :)
[08:14.16] <Shiral> We might give a little love nibble now and then.
[08:14.21] <Jerusha> Yes, happy birthday
[08:14.32] <DesertRose> Don't scare him off!   :P
[08:14.36] <Rob> as for eBooks, I have an obsession with owning things in print, so thats a no-go haha.  Someday I just want a giant library/mancave in my home
[08:14.39] <Jerusha> Or a friendly chomp
[08:14.43] <The_Bee> Happy birthday toShiral's sister
[08:14.47] <Shiral> But she'll get them on Tuesday which will be a nice surprise for her
[08:14.53] <Evie> and hopefully you like cats and/or dogs, since they tend to show up in our chats a lot
[08:14.55] <DesertRose> Oh, that works, then.
[08:15.25] <Shiral> I like a guy who likes a library. And your book will never crash. You can even read it in a power failure if you have a flash light. =o)
[08:15.28] <DesertRose> With regards to e-books versus print books, both is good.
[08:15.42] <Evie> I have hardcopies and ebooks
[08:15.59] <Jerusha> Though I find with paper books, it's much easier to go back a few pages to look something up, versus an ebook
[08:16.00] <DesertRose> E-books are handy when you don't have a lot of space, and paper books are good for the feel and smell and the advantage of being able to read without electricity. :)
[08:16.02] <Shiral> I have hard copies, mostly, since I was a fan long before the advent of ebooks.
[08:16.06] <Evie> the ebooks are easier for me to read on the go, and I leave the hardcopies at home where they won't get lost or stolen
[08:16.14] <The_Bee> My book-reading chair is more comfy than my computer-reading chair.
[08:16.15] <Shiral> Very true
[08:16.28] <Evie> and I also have the audio versions because I'm a completist
[08:16.31] <Shiral> I have the recorded versions on my iPod
[08:16.31] <KK> On the Codex--a way that you guys could help me would be to take the indices of the last 4 books, which aren't in the original Codex, and go through and put them into the format that's used in the Codex.  So-and-so was born on the ___ day of ___ in the year ____, and was the son of ______ and ______.
[08:17.05] <Shiral> With "intermarriages" and all?
[08:17.12] <Jerusha> The Childe Morgan trilogy and KKB?
[08:17.19] <The_Bee> Do the books mention the birth dates?
[08:17.34] <DesertRose> 2nd Ed. Codex has KKB included in it.
[08:17.37] <Evie> The KKB info should be in Codex already, IIRC
[08:17.50] <Shiral> Yes I believe it is
[08:17.56] <DesertRose> Not anything from the Childe Morgan trilogy, though.
[08:18.00] <Evie> sometimes, Bee
[08:18.06] <Evie> or at least the month
[08:18.12] <Rob> Oh geez, I just tried to make an account and found out that 15 year old me already made one O.o
[08:18.15] <KK> We might divide these up so that those so inclined can take a book apiece.  Maybe can do that same with the place names.  Maybe Evie & DR could coordinate those?  And if you just put that info into a standard Word doc, with no fancy formatting, I can just cut and paste and fill in the details that only I know.
[08:18.28] <Shiral> And... I think Rob Reginald invented some of the birthdates of secondary characters
[08:19.23] <DesertRose> LOL, maybe so.
[08:19.27] <Evie> I may have a little bit of time to go through one the end of this month while on vacation, though it may depend on how busy my folks keep me, since they'lll be in town
[08:19.34] <Evie> but I tend to stay up later than they do
[08:19.38] <DesertRose> And yes, KK, I'll certainly help coordinate.
[08:19.46] <Jerusha> Let me know what you need.
[08:20.02] <The_Bee> Didn't Rob Reginald name a character Broccoli?
[08:20.06] <KK> As much as you can glean from the books.  Sometimes you'll have to extrapolate between the lines to figure out birth years and such.  Some KKB material is included, some is not, because I didn't want him to lock me into stuff I'd rather not.
[08:20.12] <Evie> I know where my copies of TKD and CM are
[08:20.13] <Aerlys> perhaps I can squeak some in to. Would love to help
[08:20.22] <DesertRose> We can put it in a Google Drive document that everybody can access and then download it as a Word file.
[08:20.35] <Shiral> Yes. One family is full of vegetables.  Another family is all the names of fashion designers "William Lord of Blass"
[08:20.40] <Evie> ITKS I only have in Kindle version, which is a little harder for me to cross index
[08:20.48] <Rob> Evidently I was Alaric92
[08:21.07] <DesertRose> Meaning your board username, Rob?
[08:21.15] <KK> Yes, there were some sillies, and I may try to edit out some of those.
[08:21.16] <Rob> yeah, Ill just leave it as that
[08:21.28] <DesertRose> Okay, then, I don't have to go approve a new account.  :)
[08:21.43] <Aerlys> Go ahead and reintroduce yourself
[08:21.58] <DesertRose> Yes, under Off Topic there should be an introductions subforum.
[08:22.12] <Evie> I  should warn you this forum tends to run rampant with the Alaric fanbabes, so that's going to be a popular name. :D
[08:22.24] <DesertRose> LOL, that it does.
[08:22.41] <Jerusha> I've no problem with that :D
[08:22.41] <Rob> lol. It was a favorite of mine back then too.  I distinctly remember wanting to name my firstborn son Alaric
[08:22.50] <DesertRose> Is the 92 a reference to your year of birth?
[08:22.55] <Rob> it is indeed
[08:22.57] <Evie> I'm one of the weird ones out who likes Alaric but was more of a Duncan fan
[08:23.07] <DesertRose> You're the same age as my daughter, then.  :)
[08:23.11] <Shiral> It's okay, we tolerate her weirdness.
[08:23.13] <Shiral>  =o)
[08:23.30] <Rob> Is she single/like Deryni? haha
[08:23.34] <DesertRose> So you'll be 23 later this year?
[08:23.37] <The_Bee> Javan and Nigel for me
[08:23.38] <Rob> yup
[08:23.51] <DesertRose> Yes, she's single, and I haven't gotten her to read the Deryni books yet, but she would probably like them if she got her own copies.
[08:24.16] <DesertRose> We can't share books, DD and I.  The family wound up with three complete sets of the Harry Potter series because we are bad at sharing books.  :D
[08:24.35] <KK> BRB, laundry to tend again.
[08:24.36] <Shiral> LOL  EVERYBODY wanted to read them at once?
[08:24.38] <DesertRose> DD will be 23 in September.
[08:24.39] <Evie> My kids are 17 and 20, but I haven't managed to get either to read the Deryni books. I suspect they'd like them, but nope, they won't even peek inside the covers.
[08:24.57] <Rob> lol.  My family shared books well, but now that Im out of the house I've been spending a small fortune buying my own music/movies/books
[08:25.12] <DesertRose> Yes.  My stepdad "read" them by listening to the audiobooks on his work commute, but my mom, my daughter, and I had to have each our own copies.
[08:25.15] <Shiral> It might damage their "Coolness factor" to read the same book as their mother, Evie.
[08:25.40] <Evie> yes, Shiral, although they're fine with me reading their books
[08:25.41] <The_Bee> I gave one of my Grand-nieces DR for Christmas a while back, but her mother said she couldn't get into it.
[08:25.47] <DesertRose> I'm a Rhys Thuryn fanbabe myself, because I have a soft spot for Healers.
[08:25.53] <Rob> lol, my dad has given me numerous book series to read, but the Deryni were the only ones I actually picked up
[08:26.42] <DesertRose> I also have a soft spot for redheads.
[08:26.49] <Dennis> I'm definitely in for helping with eCodex. :)
[08:27.06] <Dennis> I like Arilan. He has good taste in first names, even if he's not much of a speller.
[08:27.06] <Shiral> Well Rhys was always a great guy
[08:27.15] <DesertRose> LOL, Dennis.
[08:27.19] <Evie> My DD at least likes many of the same TV shows and movies her dad and I watch, and she loves to go to DragonCon with us, but she just shakes her head sadly at my Deryni obsession and my mini-Deryni action figures and tells me I'm weird :D
[08:27.29] <Shiral> On your HONEYMOON, Dennis?? =o)
[08:27.30] <Evie> LOL Dennis
[08:28.01] <Rob> I'm going to my 2nd nerd convention this year, it's called RTX in Austin, TX
[08:28.11] <DesertRose> Do you live in Texas?
[08:28.14] <Shiral> I'd say it's better to be weird than boring.
[08:28.15] <Evie> they're fun
[08:28.16] <KK> OK, I'm back.
[08:28.17] <Rob> nope, Ohio
[08:28.18] <DesertRose> Definitely, Shiral.
[08:28.25] <DesertRose> Oh, wow, then Texas is a bit of a haul.
[08:28.36] <The_Bee> and very wet
[08:28.36] <Shiral> I just washed my sheets and Dmitri helped me put them on the bed
[08:28.37] <Rob> I'm flyin, but its still a long trip
[08:28.44] <Evie> My son once told me, when he was little, "Mommy, you're weird but at least you're not boring!"
[08:29.04] <The_Bee> LOL!
[08:29.13] * Jemler (~jemler@OWIRCN-9733da4b.oh.comcast.net) has joined channel #deryni_destinations
[08:29.13] <DesertRose> What part of Ohio?  We have a regular chatter who isn't in tonight (named Jemler) who lives in East Liverpool, which I think is closer to the Pittsburgh area than any other metro area.
[08:29.14] <Shiral> He clearly has his priorities straight, Evie
[08:29.18] <Dennis> Okay, maybe after I get back. :)
[08:29.19] <DesertRose> Oh, and there's Jemler.  :0
[08:29.21] <The_Bee> Hi Jemler!
[08:29.23] <Jemler> hi folks
[08:29.24] <Shiral> Hello Jemler
[08:29.25] <DesertRose> I said his name and he showed up.  :)
[08:29.30] <Jemler> sorry i'm late!
[08:29.31] <Evie> I think that was after he figured out other Moms didn't dress their sons up as Jedi Padawans for Halloween AND make their own Jedi costumes, and then wear them when it wasn't Halloween any more :D
[08:29.31] <Jerusha> Hi Jemler
[08:29.33] <KK> Not to be boring was one of our unofficial wedding vows. :)
[08:29.43] <Evie> Hi Jemler
[08:29.49] <DesertRose> Hi Jemler.  Rob here is a new chatter and also in Ohio.
[08:29.56] <Dennis> Hi, Jemler!
[08:29.57] <Jemler> hi rob
[08:29.57] <Evie> Sounds like a good vow, KK
[08:30.03] <KK> Hi, Jemler.
[08:30.07] <DesertRose> That's an awesome thing to promise, KK.  :)
[08:30.10] <Shiral> That might have been a good clue, Evie
[08:30.11] <Jemler> kelric! welcome back!
[08:30.22] <KK> We haven't had to throw one fish yet tonight.
[08:30.34] <Jerusha> We were waiting for Jemler
[08:30.40] <DesertRose> I almost threw one at Jerusha, but now I can't remember what she said. :)
[08:30.40] <Jemler> ok. go for it!
[08:30.50] * Shiral throws a trout, just to make sure everyone knows this is the right chatroom
[08:30.51] <Evie> Evie smacks Jemler upside the head with a mackerel
[08:30.55] <Jerusha> I'll never tell
[08:30.56] <DesertRose> ROFL
[08:31.01] * The_Bee readies the mackeral-laauncher
[08:31.13] * Jerusha flings a smelt
[08:31.23] <KK> I love you guys!
[08:31.27] <Rob> I'm from the Youngstown area
[08:31.27] <Evie> Rob, jemler usually gets in trouble for either puns or his naughty innuendos, and we tend to lob fish at him when he does
[08:31.29] <Dennis> You sure it wasn't just for the halibut, DR?
[08:31.34] <DesertRose> We love you too, KK.
[08:31.36] <Shiral> Since you have fish flinging fans KK, I'd say you've delivered on the "not boring
[08:31.37] * Jemler wishes he had kept his mouth shut!
[08:31.43] <Shiral> Not boring" vow. =o)
[08:31.52] <Evie> some of us have macros that let us fling fish with a keystroke or two
[08:32.03] <Rob> actually waitaminute
[08:32.12] <Rob> East Liverpool :O
[08:32.18] <DesertRose> Rob, the fish throwing thing comes from a function of some of the chat clients where you can smack someone with a trout, and it came to be the traditional answer to a bad pun or naughty innuendo.
[08:32.23] <Rob> I'm currently working in Calcutta
[08:32.30] <Jemler> that's wher i'm from. The Point of Beginning.
[08:32.41] <Jerusha> India?
[08:33.01] <Evie> That's a long commute, but with a Transfer Portal it's not bad
[08:33.04] <Jemler> calcuitta is just outside elo. about 5 miles from my house
[08:33.20] <Jemler> where at in calcutta?
[08:33.28] <Rob> yep, I', just training down there, the Giant Eagle
[08:33.35] <DesertRose> Oh, Rob, just for reference, KK chat usually starts at 7 pm Eastern, but next week will be early chat (to accommodate UK fans) at 5 pm Eastern.
[08:33.51] <Rob> gotcha
[08:33.52] <Jemler> kmart plaza. used to be the skyview drive-in.
[08:33.57] <Aerlys> Sorry guys. Extra distracted today
[08:33.58] <Dennis> Speaking of early, I have a long day tomorrow, so I'm off to bed early.
[08:34.03] <Dennis> Thank you again, everyone!
[08:34.05] <The_Bee> first Sunday of the month is early chat

[08:34.15] <DesertRose> Night, Dennis.
[08:34.16] <KK> Nighters, Dennis.
[08:34.16] <Shiral> Enjoy your wedding!
[08:34.18] <Evie> KK, now that I'm attending an Episcopal church, I keep wanting to peek in the sacristy to see if there's a Portal in there. I mentioned that to another lady there who also reads SF/Fantasy, and now we both get the giggles at the door sign
[08:34.21] <Dennis> Thank you!
[08:34.22] <The_Bee> good night, Dennis
[08:34.23] <Jerusha> I should be going too.  Too much to do before bedtime
[08:34.27] <DesertRose> Have a good wedding and so forth.
[08:34.28] <Evie> Goodnight Dennis
[08:34.29] <DesertRose> Night, Jerusha.
[08:34.33] <KK> Well done, Evie!

[08:35.05] <DesertRose> It happens, Aerlys.  It's okay.  :)
[08:35.33] <Evie> I also keep checking out the priest's vestments for ideas to translate to 1:6 scale :D
[08:35.43] <Jemler> i'll have to read the log for tonite
[08:35.43] <DesertRose> LOL, Evie.

[08:36.25] <The_Bee> Jemler, are you officially on the transplant list now?
[08:36.35] <Evie> I'd be making them for Duncan!
[08:36.36] <DesertRose> Oh yes, and how's your mom doing, Jemler?
[08:36.54] <Jemler> not yet. i finished all the steps, but they have to meet about it yet.
[08:36.55] <DesertRose> Not for Cardiel?
[08:36.55] <Evie> Did someone say Duncan McLain?
[08:37.15] <Evie> Him too. And Mini-Denis
[08:37.16] <DesertRose> Or mini-Denis?
[08:37.20] <KK> When will that happen?
[08:37.27] <Evie> All my wee priests need wee garb
[08:37.28] <Jemler> she's doing better. she was discharged for everything this week.
[08:37.29] <DesertRose> We have GOT to get out of each other's heads, Evie.  :)
[08:37.32] <DesertRose> Oh good, Jemler.
[08:37.43] <Evie> Oh good, Jemler

[08:40.04] <Shiral> Well, he's still a wannabe Duncan McLain
[08:40.06] <DesertRose> We all got a kick out of it, and I thought you would too. :)
[08:40.27] <KK> Yes, indeed.
[08:40.28] <Evie> I was hoping Dudelife would show up
[08:40.39] <KK> Maybe next week.
[08:40.49] <DesertRose> Might be that chat's at an inconvenient time for dudeslife.
[08:40.55] <Shiral> And the body count can only rise with Killingford as the topic of the next Deryni book.
[08:40.59] <Jemler> who is that?
[08:41.02] <Evie> Hopefully revanne's sister can make it next week

[08:44.04] * KK Quit (Quit: +http://www.mibbit.com, ajax IRC Client)
"If having a soul means being able to feel love, loyalty, and gratitude, then animals are better off than a lot of humans."

James Herriot (James Alfred "Alfie" Wight), when a human client asked him if animals have souls.  (I don't remember in which book the story originally appeared.)
