Excellent addition - enjoyed this very much.  I like Jolyon - he has a practical side that serves him well, and will serve Laas too.  And allows him to survive his wife.  ;D

It would be interesting to have a letter from the Duchess of Laas to her daughter in law; I can only imagine the advice she would give!

I'd imagine he says, "Yes, dear." a lot--then goes and does exactly what he wants.
