It was only simpler because I'd forgotten something obvious. *sighs and goes back to the drawing board*

Ah, yes, dear revanne. "Pride cometh before the fall." (**ducks and runs**)

Thank you, DR, for continuing to give us this insight into Denis Arilan, though I am beginning to wonder if this is more of a story about him instead of Jorian!

That said, I find it fascinating that KK has created characters of such depth that entire discussions can be had about what has influenced or motivated their actions. It is a gift to be able to create such depth, which I believe is why her popularity endures.

Either that, or we're all a little obsessed.  :) Nahhh....

There are three more chapters and an epilogue (which got longer since I posted chapter 1) coming, but Saint Jorian has some things to do in order for the Church to recognize him that don't entail joyously perturbing his old friend Denis.

If I say any more, I'll spoil the story, so I'll shut up now.  :D
"If having a soul means being able to feel love, loyalty, and gratitude, then animals are better off than a lot of humans."

James Herriot (James Alfred "Alfie" Wight), when a human client asked him if animals have souls.  (I don't remember in which book the story originally appeared.)

Alas indeed. Strangely enough, that verse had occurred to me too :<)
God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

I deny any accusation of obsession.  ;D ;D ;D ;D

Even after years of having all my free time disappear because of one thing or another having to do with Deryni.

Nope! Not obsessed!

That said. DR, Revanne, Evie, Jerusha, Aerlys,  Annie... Opps... and Shiral, and everyone else. Write on!  Write on!
May your horses have wings and fly!

Aerlys, you say "obsessed" as if it were a BAD thing! =o)

Jerusha

And there is something wrong with being obsessed?   :o

There are worse things than having heroes that are knights or bishops.

From ghoulies and ghosties and long-leggity beasties and things that go bump in the night...good Lord deliver us!

I never said there was anything wrong with it.  ;D

Just thinking out loud...with my fingers, at least.
