Should have posted sooner, but this has been a crazy week already.

Today we are having a meeting with the teachers and DS3's therapist. Please pray that this produces much good fruit.

Holding you and your family up.

Between what's going on with DS and your brother's bypass surgery, y'all can't catch a break lately.  :(
"If having a soul means being able to feel love, loyalty, and gratitude, then animals are better off than a lot of humans."

James Herriot (James Alfred "Alfie" Wight), when a human client asked him if animals have souls.  (I don't remember in which book the story originally appeared.)

Will hope for positive outcomes that will benefit DS and not the system.  Don't give up!

I am in hopes that your meeting went well and something good comes of it. And I also hope your brother is doing better.  Wishing for the tide to change and fresh good things to come to you and all of your loved ones.

I know some parents who are similarly situated who homeschool and use community youth organizations---Scouts, DeMolay/Rainbow, CAP Cadets, 4-H--for the socialization.

Thank you all for your prayers. The meeting went well. The teachers were very receptive (one was fairly quiet throughout, but I think she was just absorbing rather than skeptical). His teacher for next year is actually quite stoked, and already trying to work out a plan...so long as she doesn't get transferred!

At least we are all on the same page. Except for the headmaster, who couldn't be there, but I am hoping that with since he is not there as much, things will smooth over. Also, some issues were bought up that his therapist had not been aware of, and is going to refer him to a neurological psychologist. Strange specialty, I know. Basically, we are going to have DS screened to figure out how his brain learns and processes information, since he is displaying some little oddities like dysgraphia.

In addition, I'm looking at other non-drug approaches to help balance his system, using some newer research. It's going to a long road.

Trust me, Elkhound, if school proves to not be the best learning environment for him, homeshooling is definitely my next option. I already had to do that with my oldest when he was in elementary school, though for different reasons.

You don't know the half of it, DR!  ;)

I'm glad the meeting went well, and I'm continuing to hope for a good outcome for DS.  :)

Sounds like you had a positive outcome for that meeting!  I'll continue to pray for DS, and wise discernment for those who provide educational and other forms of support for him, so they will be able to figure out the best ways to help him.

This whole story sounds more than a little familiar to me.  I will pray for you and your son, Aerlys.
