That source also alludes to using the garderobe for clothes storage, although you are correct that chests were also used.

I just reread this series for the 20th time and im still wondering if a third one is ever gonna be written.  I figured since they rereleased it with a new cover maybe it was in the works.

If I understand correctly, a third volume will depend on how well the reissued first book sells.  :)
