Does anyone know how I can get hold of previous Deryni fanfic? It's all the fault of those who have posted on this site - you're so good you have given me a taste for more.

Previous as in written before this forum started a fanfic board?  I know there are a few Deryni fanfics over at Fanfiction.net that don't appear here,  and I've stumbled upon one or two by doing a web search for Deryni or Katherine Kurtz. There was also a fanfic magazine called Deryni Archives (not to be confused with the book of the same name), and you may be able to order back issues from the editor or find old issues on eBay.  As for finding the older stories in this board, the link to the first chapter of each of mine is in my Suggested Reading Order thread,  but for others you just need to go through the earlier pages of the fanfic section and find the first chapter of each story.  I think most if not all the stories have the chapters linked together, so if you can just find those first chapter,  you're set

Hmm, maybe we need to add a Table of Contents links thread to the fanfic board to help readers find our story beginnings?

Julianne Toomey-Kautz is the current editor of Deryni ARchives the Magazine. So far as I know, she still plans to produce issues as long as there are fans to supply material, and she can distribute back issues. I think the hiatus in producing new DAtZ issues  has been because KK vets all stories that are included. Lately, KK has needed to concentrate on finishing the 3rd Childe Morgan book instead of vetting fanfic. Julianne is a member of this board, although she hasn't been actively posting for a ling time,  so try sending her a PM. I have her email, so I'll give her a shout. You can also apply for membership in the Yahoo Group Deryni Books, of which Julianne is also a member.  Rhemuthcastle is a more active board than that one these days, but it's another way to contact Julianne.

That's actually a really good idea.  Give me a few (I need to run to the supermarket tonight before it closes) and I'll get on that.  It does make good sense.

Unless, of course, you feel like fooling with it?  :P

James Herriot (James Alfred "Alfie" Wight), when a human client asked him if animals have souls.  (I don't remember in which book the story originally appeared.)

YES! YES! YES!

I've had a heck of a time finding chapter one on some of the stories. It would be sooooooo useful!

Feel free to do it if/when you have the time.  I wouldn't mind doing it normally,  but for now any typing or mouse use for more than a few minutes at a time really hurts,  so I probably won't be able to take on a task of that sort until the inflammation goes away.  (I'm hoping to get another doctor appointment soon with a specialist and perhaps get an MRI done to see exactly what's going on with all the hand and arm pain,  but the informal diagnosis at this point seems to be tendinitis in addition to the original rotation cuff injury, with the exercises I have to do in order to keep the shoulder from freezing up having the side effect of making the tendinitis worse, so until that's all sorted,  I'm trying to go easy on keyboard use.)  :-\

I'm working on it now.  If you have any suggestions for making it more legible once it's posted, just say so.

Bother. I was counting on mine staying buried.

DesertRose

Annie, are you being sarcastic or serious?  I indexed everybody's stories before I read your post, but if you'd like me to remove yours from the Table of Contents, I certainly can.

(Sometimes it doesn't come across clearly online when someone is cracking a joke, so that's why I'm asking for clarification here.)

The fanfic index, as promised, is here:  http://www.rhemuthcastle.com/index.php?topic=1187.0  However, I can always edit it to reflect new stories and/or authors.  Maybe one of these days, Festil and I will finish our story and post it and add it to the index.  (We are unwilling to post it unfinished because there are some things in the story that we may write in present tense but decide for story flow reasons to put in flashback or something.  TL;DR, it's not ready for posting.)

Just kind of self-deprecating.

We Brits used to be really good at being self-deprecating, but we're not even any good at that any more.

Thanks to Evie and DesertRose for the index, it's really helpful. Sadly as I devour stories rather than savouring them gracefully I have read them all. Thanks to Annie for the link to Airsid - especially enjoying some of the earlier era stories, I have a feeling that if anyone starts talking to me it will be Joram as I'm fascinated with what makes him tick. But not before I've sorted out Lent and Easter...
