Newest update on Kirienne
« on: February 22, 2013, 01:53:49 PM »
Hi, I saw my Oncologist yesterday,  she seems very positive! And she is so young, LOL. Anyway, she said I have Stage 1A, which is the absolute earliest stage. She said that quite often, they don't even give chemo, just watch it for that stage, but since mine is rare and aggressive she'd like me to have more treatment than that. So she is refering me to the UC Davis Clinical trials for rare cancers. There, I will be watched like a hawk, and given chemo --they may even try several different kinds of chemos and my form of cancer and progress would be studied. She is possitive that Kaiser will approve it, (since they will be paying for it,) and that I'll be accepted into the study, because I meet so many of the criteria. So more waiting...I should know next week if I've been accepted into the trials.

So possibly good will come of this which I must endure, perhaps they will learn more about this cancer from me being in the clinical trials and it can/will help save or cure someone else down the road.

I hope you get into the clinical trials.  They may be a pain in the neck as far as having to tell the same thing to forty zillion people and having a lot of cooks in the soup, as it were, but you do tend to get good care in a trial, and as you said, there is the added bonus of knowing you might be helping someone else down the line.

*hugs* if welcome, and prayers for your continued recovery.

I hope you get into the clinical trials too, Kirienne. And that you get the best possible care while giving the C monster a knockout punch!

Yay for the good news kirienne, and nice to think that you can both get good care yourself, and at the same time possibly contribute to cancer research in the trial.  Fingers crossed that you get accepted.

Thanks for the update, kirienne!  Hopefully you'll get into the clinical trials.  I'm glad to hear that they caught your cancer in the early stage too; that's a definite plus.  Keeping you in my prayers.   :)

Thanks so much everyone!!
Yes, DessertRose, Hugs are very welcome  :).
I'm trying not to be on "pins and needles" as they say, while waiting to hear.
I still have not had good inspitation for my  Deryni drabble, but perhaps it will come sometime, when I least expect it, and am not looking for it.
Love to you all!!!
