Deryni

If you’ve never visited Gwynedd and met the Deryni, you’ve missed a rare and wonderful fantasy series, filled with incredibly real characters, breathtaking magic, and plots that keep you reading into the wee hours of the night. The Deryni world roughly parallels 10th, 11th, and 12th century England, Scotland, and Wales and accurately depicts life in that era with detailed descriptions of castles and clothing. The Deryni possess magical powers which their powerful medieval church views as evil, so they face conflicts with the Church as well as enemy armies. One warning: Be prepared to cry. Katherine’s characters are never “safe” and often the good, noble characters meet unpleasant ends.
