KK Chat - Mar. 31, 2002

[17:34] *** KK has joined #Deryni_Destinations
[17:34] *** ChanServ sets mode: +o KK
[17:34] <vaino> hmm .. rather see new books than revisions of the existing ones ... we are doing enough revising here :-)
[17:34] <@Sedina> I played it at Darkover...took a bit to get used to though
[17:34] <@Sedina> Hi KK!
[17:34] <Bynw> hi katherine
[17:35] <@KK> Hi, guys.
[17:35] <the_Bee> Is it like being in a chatroom?  Do all players have to be in real time?
[17:35] <@Jessie> hello Katherine
[17:35] <vaino> hi KK
[17:35] <hygilac> Hi Katherine
[17:35] <the_Bee> good evening katherine
[17:35] <Bynw> Bee only if one plays online otherwise you are all face-to-face
[17:36] <the_Bee> nobody to play with face-to face :(
[17:36] <@Sedina> It was interesting to play it at Darkover, I have to admit
[17:36] <@KK> Looks like folks are off hunting Easter eggs tonight.
[17:36] <Bynw> most likely
[17:37] <@KK> Did you guys go on daylight savings time today?
[17:37] <@Sedina> You just get a small crew of us tonight
[17:37] <Bynw> nope
[17:37] <@Sedina> Nope, not yet
[17:37] <@KK> When does that happen?
[17:37] <the_Bee> first sunday in April
[17:37] <hygilac> next weekend for us KK
[17:37] <@Sedina> Katherine - Laura was here earlier today and wanted us to tell you hello from her
[17:37] <@KK> Ah, ok, next week.  I know it's sometimes different from over here.
[17:37] <@KK> Is she still in Germany?
[17:37] <Wrengl> Happy Easter Katherine
[17:38] <the_Bee> so what's your time, KK?
[17:38] <@KK> 11:39 PM
[17:38] <@Sedina> Yes, she's still in Germany and is going back on flight status.
[17:38] <Bynw> Katherine, Tika finally found a copy of SPG in paperback .. The Prologue and Chapter 1 of IKS are GREAT ...
[17:38] <@KK> Glad you like them.
[17:39] <the_Bee> SPG?  IKS?
[17:39] <@KK> I've also gotten notes from several folks glad to see the map of Dublin in the paperback.
[17:39] <the_Bee> oh right
[17:39] <hygilac> yes, I appreciated that, KK
[17:40] * @Sedina has yet to break down and get SPG at this point. She knows far too well that it will be torture to have the teaser in the back just tempting her
[17:40] <hygilac> LOL
[17:40] * the_Bee agrees with Sedina
[17:40] <Bynw> Sedina it is pure torture but you will like it
[17:40] <@Sedina> I know myself...and my knowing that IKS isn't due out for a while yet, I KNOW it would just be torture
[17:40] <hygilac> Hey, i waited 20 years for KKB; I can stand the torment
[17:41] <@KK> Well, I hope to get back to it this week.  I've been doing some minor edits on my Templar story this week.
[17:41] <@Jessie> when is ITKS supposed to be published?
[17:41] <Wrengl> LOL Linda
[17:41] <the_Bee> KK, I'm reading "King Hereafter."  heavy stuff
[17:41] *** Harvey has joined #Deryni_Destinations
[17:41] <@KK> Hopefully by the end of the year--if I can get it done by the end of June.
[17:41] <@Sedina> Hi Harvey
[17:41] <the_Bee> hi harv
[17:41] <Harvey> Hello.
[17:41] <Bynw> hiyas Harvey
[17:41] <@KK> Yes, it's a bit heavier than the Lymond books.  I didn't like it as well.
[17:41] <Wrengl> Katherine: I finished Voyager and am reading Drums of Autumn now
[17:41] <hygilac> Hurray--and hurry
[17:42] <Wrengl> hi harvey
[17:42] <@KK> I like Lymond better than the Italian series, too.
[17:42] <hygilac> hi harvey
[17:42] <@KK> Tee-hee, Pat.  They're hard to put down, aren't they?
[17:42] <Wrengl> Indeed
[17:42] <the_Bee> I'm having my usual problems with reading ahead.
[17:43] <@Sedina> KK - Pat's constantly telling me how much Rudi Cat is despising me for having introduced Pat to the Gabaldon books
[17:43] <Wrengl> Of course I almost started singing at one point since I know the song from the Highland Games scene.
[17:43] <the_Bee> I get impatient
[17:43] <@KK> I've got a short story to do in the next couple of weeks for a Murder and Magic anthology, too--an Adam Sinclair story.
[17:43] <Harvey> Who is the editor?
[17:43] <Bynw> cool ... where and when will it be published?
[17:43] <@Jessie> wow
[17:43] <Wrengl> oh goody.  Something to keep the withdrawal from getting too
bad
[17:44] <the_Bee> sorcerers take over big business
[17:44] <@KK> Rosemary Edgehill
[17:44] <hygilac> sounds like a plan, Bee
[17:44] <@KK> Well, it'd due mid-April, so maybe by Christmas, I expect.
[17:44] <the_Bee> I'm trying to get her 12 treasures series
[17:45] <Wrengl> Please keep us informed on it!
[17:45] <@KK> The Templar anthology will be out in December, I think.
[17:46] <@KK> Speaking of which, there's an article in today's London Times about the Templars having been exonerated by the Pope at the time of the trial, but the decree was lost for centuries.  I've got to follow up on that. Interesting, if true.
[17:46] <@Jessie> indeed
[17:46] <Bynw> wow
[17:46] <Wrengl> That would be VERRA interesting, if true.
[17:46] <the_Bee> hack into the Vatican's computers :)
[17:46] <hygilac> indeed
[17:46] <Wrengl> lol bee
[17:47] <@KK> www.thetimes.co.uk
[17:47] <Harvey> Just remember that it is timesoflondon.com, not londontimes.com.  The latter takes you to an "adult" site.
[17:47] <Harvey> At least it did a few years ago.  I felt really silly at work.
[17:48] <hygilac> LOL
[17:48] <@KK> No, it's thetimes.co.uk, according to the banner at the bottom of what I printed out about 10 min. ago.
[17:48] <@Sedina> lol Harvey
[17:48] <Harvey> Cool.
[17:48] <Harvey> That will eliminate that mistake.
[17:48] <the_Bee> I opened it.  The Queen Mum's death
[17:49] <@KK> Yeah, sad.  But boy, she lived in 3 centuries!
[17:49] <the_Bee> born 1900?
[17:49] <@KK> The state funeral should be awesome.
[17:49] <@KK> Yep.
[17:49] <hygilac> I was watching BBC America when they broke the news yesterday
[17:49] <Wrengl> it takes you to the times of london.
[17:50] <@KK> We were watching Pride and Prejudice later last night when a banner came on.  Not sure why it took them so long to do it.
[17:50] <Wrengl> Yes, that should certainly be SOME state funeral
[17:51] <hygilac> I guess notifying family before they put it on the air, don't you?
[17:51] <@KK> Apparently it happened about 3:15 PM local time, and they released the news about 2 hours later.  But it was 10-ish when we found out.
[17:51] <Wrengl> Especially since Prince Charles and his sons were in Switzerland.
[17:52] <the_Bee> They say the Queen was at her bedside.  I expect the family knew it was coming
[17:52] <hygilac> yes
[17:52] <hygilac> I believe Prince Andrew was out of the contry as well
[17:52] <@KK> There was a pic of HM in this morning's paper, riding with one of her grooms about 3 hours before.  But she was there at the end, as was a niece.
[17:53] <@KK> Poor Queen, losing her sister and her mother in the space of 7 weeks, and in her Jubilee year.
[17:54] <hygilac> yes, very sad indeed
[17:54] <vaino> didn't think you irish were that much interested in english royalty :-)
[17:54] <Wrengl> Yes very sad for a year that should be one of celebration
[17:55] <@KK> Ah, I've always been a monarchist.  West Brit, you know.  Scots, actually--but Scots like the monarchy, too.
[17:56] <@KK> If it hadn't been for WW I, Ireland probably would have become part of the Commonwealth instead of having its 6 counties cut off, and the whole Northern problem wouldn't be.
[17:56] <vaino> a silly question, Katherine, after all these years, do you consider yourself irish or american
[17:56] <@KK> Devolution was all set to go.
[17:56] <@KK> Both.  best of both worlds.  :-)
[17:56] <hygilac> lucky you
[17:57] <hygilac> I must go; time for dinner and lesson plans
[17:57] <the_Bee> Devolution? or revolution?
[17:57] <@KK> Yeah, and I've got a strong affinity for the Scots as well.
[17:57] <Wrengl> Scots especially like the Queen Mum
[17:57] <hygilac> take care everyone
[17:57] <@KK> Devolution.
[17:57] <vaino> hmm, is "both" expatriate american, or irish immigrant
[17:57] <Wrengl> night linda
[17:57] <@Sedina> Bye Linda
[17:57] *** hygilac has quit IRC (QUIT: )
[17:57] <@KK> Well, she considered herself Scottish.
[17:58] <the_Bee> daughter of a Scots peer?
[17:58] <Wrengl> She came from Scottish stock and spent much time at Glamis Castle when she was young.
[17:59] *** KK has quit IRC (Connection reset by peer)
[17:59] <@Sedina> ack
[17:59] <the_Bee> Peer's at it again!!

[17:59] * Wrengl Takes the bullwhip from her Indiana Jones belt and whips Peer from one end of the room to the next.
[18:00] <@KK> Ah, well, I'm fading anyway.  I guess my brain has already adjusted to daylight savings time.
[18:00] <@KK> Tomorrow is a bank holiday, so I hope to get a lot written.
[18:00] <@KK> This means no mail and probably few interruptions.
[18:00] <Wrengl> Have a good writing day.
[18:01] <Bynw> good writing ... what chapter are you on now?
[18:01] <@Jessie> why a bank holiday?
[18:01] <@KK> About 11, I think.
[18:01] <@KK> Day after Easter.
[18:01] * @Sedina does a happy dance about the chapter number
[18:01] <Wrengl> Easter Monday always is in the British Isles.
[18:01] <vaino> not to worry, we'll get the lost hour back the 27th of october
[18:01] <@KK> We have bank holidays to make three day weekends about 10 out of the 12 months.
[18:01] * @Jessie volunteers to proof what KK has written
[18:01] <@Jessie> :-)
[18:01] <Wrengl> LOL jessie
[18:01] <Bynw> me too
[18:02] <@KK> LOL!  I expect you would, Jessie.
[18:02] <@Sedina> Jessie, dearie, I think you would get beaten up for the proofs.  :)
[18:02] <@KK> Anyway, sleep tight, all.  See you next week.
[18:02] <Wrengl> Most of us would volunteer for that task!
[18:02] <Bynw> night Katherine
