Mar 11 19:16:49 <The_Bee>   Hi KK!
Mar 11 19:16:55 <revanne>   Hi KK
Mar 11 19:16:59 <Derynifank>   Hi KK
Mar 11 19:17:01 <Eyikl>   HI Shiral, KK
Mar 11 19:17:25 <JudyWard>   Hi, Shiral
Mar 11 19:17:39 <Shiral>   Hi KK
Mar 11 19:17:41 <KK>   Hello, all.  I see a new name on the lineup.  Welcome, cathabeth.
Mar 11 19:17:48 <cathabeth>   Thanks.
Mar 11 19:17:49 <Evie>   KK, meet Cathabeth; Cathabeth, this is our Fearless Leader
Mar 11 19:17:55 <Derynifank>   Instagram has the best pictures
Mar 11 19:18:18 <Evie>   We didn't even have to set out ice cream at the four quarters for you this time, KK
Mar 11 19:18:31 <JudyWard>   I lost a lot of interest in FB when they locked me out for most of last year.
Mar 11 19:18:36 <KK>   And where are you, Cathabeth?  Facing the prospect of more snow, or are you in warmer climes?
Mar 11 19:18:38 <JudyWard>   Hi, KK
Mar 11 19:18:40 <Evie>   Yes, I love Instagram.  AKA the Dolls and Kitties channel, for my feed. ;-)
Mar 11 19:18:49 <cathabeth>   North Texas. It was 85 yesterday.
Mar 11 19:18:59 <revanne>   But we can do it now. Although Hot chocolate with whipped cream would be nice.
Mar 11 19:19:05 <Evie>   ooooohhhhh  *sigh*  I remember warmth.  :-D
Mar 11 19:19:09 <JudyWard>   Here to near Austin, Cathabeth
Mar 11 19:19:19 <KK>   Yike.  And that's in mid-March.  How hot does it get in summer?
Mar 11 19:19:21 <cathabeth>   Plano.
Mar 11 19:19:26 <Jerusha>   Warmth? What's warmth?
Mar 11 19:19:38 <JudyWard>   Now it's 68 but the wind chill is 43
Mar 11 19:19:48 <revanne>   I would melt in 85. That's when we declare a heatwave and go all dolally over the pond.
Mar 11 19:19:50 <cathabeth>   100+ hopefully not more than 5 days in a row.
Mar 11 19:19:59 <Derynifank>   No real watmyj. My spring flowers are shivering
Mar 11 19:20:07 <Evie>   My parents are currently in McAllen, so it's probably even warmer there, but we're in the process of looking into moving them back here, since they are moving into their 80s and it would be more convenient to have them closer to me.
Mar 11 19:20:15 <JudyWard>   Id' take last year when we didn't get to 100 till July
Mar 11 19:20:21 <revanne>   But then we don't really do aircon which does make a difference.
Mar 11 19:20:42 <cathabeth>   If it helps, I grew up in Wisconsin...
Mar 11 19:20:46 <The_Bee>   We're expecting our third Nor'easter in less than 2 weeks.
Mar 11 19:20:46 <Jerusha>   We are a balmy -10C with windchill
Mar 11 19:20:56 <JudyWard>   It's almost de rigueur here
Mar 11 19:21:06 *   Laurna (Mibbit@OWIRCN-55282c39.res.rr.com) has joined
Mar 11 19:21:10 <Derynifank>   I can do without 10

Mar 11 19:21:16 <The_Bee>   hi Laurna
Mar 11 19:21:20 <JudyWard>   Hi, Laurna
Mar 11 19:21:25 <Laurna>   Good job Jerusha,  I would never have thought of that.
Mar 11 19:21:28 <Shiral>   Hi Laurna
Mar 11 19:21:31 <Laurna>   Hello everyone
Mar 11 19:21:35 <Derynifank>   100
Mar 11 19:21:36 <KK>   We're getting that Nor'waster here first, overnight, about 1-3 inches, they say.
Mar 11 19:21:39 <Jerusha>   Thanks, Laurna!
Mar 11 19:21:43 <Shiral>   Hello, Cathabeth
Mar 11 19:21:50 <revanne>   Brr KK
Mar 11 19:21:54 *   Shiral waves to new Chatter
Mar 11 19:21:56 <JudyWard>   Y'all can have that Nor'easter
Mar 11 19:21:57 <Derynifank>   Uncooperative fingers tonite
Mar 11 19:22:17 <JudyWard>   back to kitchen for a few
Mar 11 19:22:20 <bynw>   we got an inch overnight this morning sometimes but it's all melted now
Mar 11 19:22:21 <KK>   New England has gotten really clobbered this winter, poor guys.
Mar 11 19:22:23 <cathabeth>   Fluffy tails and paws in way of proper typing.
Mar 11 19:22:35 <Evie>   I feel that pain, cathabeth.  :-D
Mar 11 19:22:37 <revanne>   Hi fluffy tails and paws
Mar 11 19:22:38 <Laurna>   I will sit tight with my 70 degress iwth slight chance of rain
Mar 11 19:23:02 <Derynifank>   Bynw how are  youbfeeling?
Mar 11 19:23:08 <The_Bee>   not as bad as 2015, when we got 100+ inches of snow.
Mar 11 19:23:09 <Evie>   Gigi is my polite cat who will watch me chat from at least arm's length. Luke is my "helper" who must be in my way constantly
Mar 11 19:23:12 <KK>   What are the fluffy tails and paws attached to?
Mar 11 19:23:23 <bynw>   pretty much like my normal self now Derynifank
Mar 11 19:23:34 <Jerusha>   Good to hear, Bynw
Mar 11 19:23:39 <Derynifank>   Glad to hear that
Mar 11 19:23:46 <KK>   (I have Gus on my lap now.)
Mar 11 19:23:49 <Laurna>   Good  to have your well Bynw
Mar 11 19:23:52 <DesertRose>   Hi Shiral, KK, Laurna.  Sorry, I went afk to heat up some leftovers for my supper.
Mar 11 19:23:56 <Evie>   I read that as "Bynw, how are you feebling?" and thought "feebling" sounds like a great description of how one feels when ill.  :-D
Mar 11 19:23:57 <Laurna>   Hello Gus
Mar 11 19:24:01 <cathabeth>   Olivia, a calico bratcat; Moriel, my black demonkittybaby, and Lorien, the non fluffy calico princess.
Mar 11 19:24:02 <Eyikl>   Lots of downed tree branches from the last Nor'Easter here in Mass., but at least it seems to melt quickly.
Mar 11 19:24:06 <Shiral>   Pygmy lions are napping on my bed
Mar 11 19:24:16 <revanne>   That's good Bynw. Though I wonder what you'll be up to...
Mar 11 19:24:34 <Evie>   The Pottermore website says my Patronus is a calico cat.  :-)
Mar 11 19:24:38 <DesertRose>   Hi Gus
Mar 11 19:25:15 <Evie>   Greetings to Gus
Mar 11 19:25:15 <KK>   I'm sure my Patronus would be a cat of some sort.
Mar 11 19:25:17 <Laurna>   My patronus was dolphin
Mar 11 19:25:35 <cathabeth>   Mine was a fox...not sure how or why.
Mar 11 19:25:35 <Jerusha>   You had a dolphin?
Mar 11 19:25:39 <Evie>   I can see that
Mar 11 19:25:46 <Laurna>   yep
Mar 11 19:26:07 <The_Bee>   Pottermore? Patronus?
Mar 11 19:26:08 <Evie>   I have ten tons of ginger fur in my line of sight now.  brb
Mar 11 19:26:15 <bynw>   one of my leopards is on the bed the other is out in the living room. i think both are just sleeping
Mar 11 19:26:16 <cathabeth>   Olivia was supposed to be a temporary cat....2 1/2 yrs ago.
Mar 11 19:26:31 <Jerusha>   Perhaps I'm not sure what a patronus is
Mar 11 19:26:33 <DesertRose>   Very rarely is there any such thing as a temporary cat.
Mar 11 19:26:36 <Evie>   Harry Potter website, Bee. It has a Sorting Hat and a quiz to let you find out what your patronus is
Mar 11 19:26:37 <Derynifank>   Where did you keep the dolphin, kind of big for the bathtub
Mar 11 19:26:38 <DesertRose>   Harry Potter.
Mar 11 19:26:50 <Eyikl>   Well we're pleased to meet you and your cats computer-screen to computer-screen, Cathabeth.
Mar 11 19:26:52 <Jerusha>   Ah, I see
Mar 11 19:26:57 <revanne>   DS's Christmas present to me was a ticket to visit Harry Potter world. I need to organise myself to book it. All the family want to come though and trying to organise us all is like herding cats.
Mar 11 19:27:06 <DesertRose>   A Patronus is a protective charm that usually takes the form of an animal.
Mar 11 19:27:11 <The_Bee>   patronus--a familiar?
Mar 11 19:27:30 <Jerusha>   DS3 and his bride are going to Harry Potter on their honeymoon
Mar 11 19:27:48 <revanne>   Sort off - but conjured as a protector in times of great danger.
Mar 11 19:27:52 <DesertRose>   Not really a familiar.  More of a spectral protector.  The Patronus isn't always with the person, only when they cast the spell.
Mar 11 19:27:53 <Evie>   Not exactly. It's the sort of spirit animal that you conjure up as protection from dementors.
Mar 11 19:27:58 <The_Bee>   ah, ok
Mar 11 19:27:59 <cathabeth>   You will never see them again; they will get swallowed up by Diagon Alley.
Mar 11 19:28:04 <Jerusha>   Mine would be a dragon.  :D
Mar 11 19:28:13 <Evie>   What DR said; that's probably a more lucid description.  :-D
Mar 11 19:28:32 <Jerusha>   They might not object.  Except that we are babysitting their dogs for them
Mar 11 19:28:44 <DesertRose>   And Dementors are a type of monster that feeds on unpleasant thoughts.
Mar 11 19:28:46 <Shiral>   Mine is a Corgi
Mar 11 19:29:05 <Shiral>   My Patronus that is, not my Dementor
Mar 11 19:29:25 <cathabeth>   But one can ward off Dementors with chocolate.
Mar 11 19:29:42 <Laurna>   A corgi, sweet.  My friend just got a Corgi puppy  soo  cute
Mar 11 19:29:44 <Jerusha>   Pass the chocolate bunny
Mar 11 19:29:47 <Evie>   I was going to suggest not becoming a lady-in-waiting to the Queen if corgis are your dementors!
Mar 11 19:29:54 <The_Bee>   milk or dark chocolate?
Mar 11 19:29:58 <DesertRose>   I had gotten the impression that the chocolate was more to make you feel better after the Dementor was gone.
Mar 11 19:29:59 <Derynifank>   Does that mean they consume the unpleasant  thought  and it's gone?
Mar 11 19:30:00 <Jerusha>   All of the above
Mar 11 19:30:14 <DesertRose>   No, they suck all the happiness out of a person.
Mar 11 19:30:22 <Jerusha>   Eew
Mar 11 19:30:42 <cathabeth>   Ah, yes, chocolate to but back the happy after the attack.
Mar 11 19:31:06 <DesertRose>   Which, you know, is a real-world trait of chocolate for some folks, me included!
Mar 11 19:31:07 <Jerusha>   Chocolate is comfort food
Mar 11 19:31:28 <Evie>   Especially once one has discovered Tim-Tams at Publix
Mar 11 19:31:30 <Laurna>   I am having home made fudge.  I like to make fudge when it rains and it rained alllllllll day yesterday
Mar 11 19:31:51 <DesertRose>   Yum!
Mar 11 19:31:57 <DesertRose>   I haven't made fudge in ages.
Mar 11 19:32:05 <Evie>   Yuck, sounds like here.  It's raining this weekend and is supposed to next weekend also, though we'll get sunshine in midweek
Mar 11 19:32:07 <bynw>   hmmmm fudge
Mar 11 19:32:07 <Jerusha>   My grandmother had the best recipe for fudge, but I can't duplicate it
Mar 11 19:32:07 <cathabeth>   Yum!
Mar 11 19:32:12 <revanne>   J K Rowling suffered from severe depression at one time and I think the dementors are a reflection of that experience.
Mar 11 19:32:15 <Derynifank>   You must have a lot of fudge
Mar 11 19:32:28 <Evie>   I was hoping to get some spray painting done, but not in this weather
Mar 11 19:32:40 <Shiral>   I have not fudge, but I do have a Kugelhopf I baked yesterday
Mar 11 19:33:03 <Evie>   What is a Kugelhopf
Mar 11 19:33:03 <Derynifank>   What is that
Mar 11 19:33:07 <Laurna>   Rain is good for baking and cooking
Mar 11 19:33:16 <Laurna>   warm up the kitchen
Mar 11 19:33:22 <DesertRose>   Yup!
Mar 11 19:33:31 <DesertRose>   I made banana bread on Friday evening.
Mar 11 19:33:37 <Laurna>   yumm
Mar 11 19:33:41 *   DesertRose shares banana bread with everyone.
Mar 11 19:33:48 <revanne>   All yum.
Mar 11 19:33:49 <cathabeth>   ty
Mar 11 19:33:52 *   Laurna thanks DR
Mar 11 19:34:00 <Derynifank>   Yum, banana bread
Mar 11 19:34:02 <jemler>   no nuts?
Mar 11 19:34:03 <The_Bee>   My usual breakfast is chocSlimfast mixed with milk and coffee.
Mar 11 19:34:04 <The_Bee>   My mom was a teacher.  We used to bake bread on snow days.
Mar 11 19:34:05 <Eyikl>   thanks DR
Mar 11 19:34:12 *   bynw loves warm banana bread with real butter
Mar 11 19:34:27 <DesertRose>   I had been planning to go to an SCA scribal workshop yesterday morning, except I woke up about the time I'd have needed to walk out the door, so two-thirds of the banana bread is frozen since no way can I eat it all before it goes bad without freezing some.
Mar 11 19:34:35 *   The_Bee thanks DR for the banana bread.
Mar 11 19:34:50 <Jerusha>   I do that with a lot of my baking
Mar 11 19:35:00 <DesertRose>   No, no nuts.  Festil is allergic to walnuts, so I got out of the habit of buying them when he lived with me, and even though that's been a few years, I never have re-formed the habit of buying any.
Mar 11 19:35:16 <Derynifank>   Thanks for the banana  bread, DR
Mar 11 19:35:21 <Evie>   I woke up to a confused phone. The phone itself had registered the time change, but my weather apps didn't, so it was showing two different times.
Mar 11 19:35:22 <DesertRose>   You're welcome!
Mar 11 19:35:26 <DesertRose>   LOL
Mar 11 19:35:30 <revanne>   Going to take banana bread to bed with me - though it might leave crumbs in the sheets. Goodnight all- catch you next week.
Mar 11 19:35:31 <Evie>   Fortunately the alarm went off at the correct time
Mar 11 19:35:38 <jemler>   festil is also allergic to haldanes.
Mar 11 19:35:42 <DesertRose>   G'night, revanne!
Mar 11 19:35:42 <Evie>   Goodnight!
Mar 11 19:35:45 <Laurna>   Good Night Revanne
Mar 11 19:35:50 <revanne>   True Jemler
Mar 11 19:35:52 <DesertRose>   Not the chatter, but the characters, certainly.  :)
Mar 11 19:35:52 <jemler>   nite revanne
Mar 11 19:35:55 <The_Bee>   nighters, revanne
Mar 11 19:36:01 <Jerusha>   Nighters, revanne
Mar 11 19:36:02 <cathabeth>   Night.
Mar 11 19:36:07 <Derynifank>   Goodnight  revsnne, glad you could come
Mar 11 19:36:10 *   revanne has quit (Quit: http://www.kiwiirc.com/ - A hand crafted IRC client)
Mar 11 19:36:39 <jemler>   so what do you think of us so far, cathabeth?
Mar 11 19:36:41 <Evie>   Luke has returned to purr insanely in my left ear and try to obstruct my view again
Mar 11 19:37:06 <DesertRose>   Carys likes to sit on my desk between me and my monitor and try to nudge the monitor sideways by head-bumping it.
Mar 11 19:37:13 <jemler>   luke! look! it's kylo ren!
Mar 11 19:37:14 <DesertRose>   But right now she's napping on my bed.
Mar 11 19:37:14 <Laurna>   I have four puppy slippers. two for each foot
Mar 11 19:37:19 <Evie>   Cathabeth, if you haven't found it yet, we have a section of the forum gallery reserved for photos of our fur babies
Mar 11 19:37:24 <DesertRose>   LOL, puppy slippers are best slippers!
Mar 11 19:37:26 <bynw>   DesertRose, thats why i dont let kitties on the desk
Mar 11 19:37:44 <cathabeth>   Once upon a time (early 80's) I was reading a review of High Deryni, and it mentioned the SCA, so I had to look that up on AppleCat, then my local group...and discovered more of my favorite authors belonged as well.
Mar 11 19:37:48 <cathabeth>   Thanks, Evie.
Mar 11 19:37:48 <Jerusha>   Pet the slippers for me, Laurna
Mar 11 19:37:50 <DesertRose>   :)
Mar 11 19:38:01 <jemler>   mzb?
Mar 11 19:38:11 <Evie>   Oh, cool!
Mar 11 19:38:37 <cathabeth>   Anne MacCaffrey, Patricia Kennealy, KK, MZB, Poul Anderson...
Mar 11 19:38:38 <Laurna>   Petted, two are happily snoring away, two say hi back
Mar 11 19:38:55 <Jerusha>   :)
Mar 11 19:38:57 <Evie>   Oh, OK, I read that at first as meaning you found some of your favorite authors were members of your local group.  :-D
Mar 11 19:39:10 <DesertRose>   Pet the puppy slippers from Florida too, please, Laurna
Mar 11 19:39:16 <Jerusha>   That would be good too
Mar 11 19:39:26 <DesertRose>   Where the weather is giving the lie to the nickname "the Sunshine State."
Mar 11 19:39:40 <Laurna>   Petted for you DR.
Mar 11 19:39:42 <DesertRose>   It's fixin' to rain.  And from the look of those clouds, HEAVILY.
Mar 11 19:39:55 <Derynifank>   Weather not really cooperative anywhere
Mar 11 19:39:57 <DesertRose>   Thaks!
Mar 11 19:39:59 <DesertRose>   *Thanks
Mar 11 19:40:01 <The_Bee>   I don't know Patricia Kennealy's work.
Mar 11 19:40:02 <DesertRose>   Rented fingers.
Mar 11 19:40:03 <Laurna>   No window leaks, RIGHT?
Mar 11 19:40:07 <DesertRose>   Right.
Mar 11 19:40:10 <DesertRose>   No leaky windows here!
Mar 11 19:40:29 <Laurna>   yay
Mar 11 19:40:33 <DesertRose>   Yay indeed!
Mar 11 19:40:37 <Jerusha>   Excellent
Mar 11 19:40:44 <cathabeth>   Celts in space.
Mar 11 19:40:48 <DesertRose>   I don't want to move again, certainly not any time soon.  It's such a pain!
Mar 11 19:40:52 <Derynifank>   Hope you are warm  dry  and snug  DR
Mar 11 19:40:54 <DesertRose>   Yup
Mar 11 19:41:09 <Laurna>   Good
Mar 11 19:41:20 <Jerusha>   I read that as "kilts in space"
Mar 11 19:41:26 <Evie>   Oh! Speaking of leaks, we got confirmation that our kitchen roof leak is definitely due to hail and wind damage, so the insurance company should pay for everything but the deductible, I think, although we haven't received the final figures yet.
Mar 11 19:41:28 <cathabeth>   That too.
Mar 11 19:41:29 <Shiral>   No leaky windows is good!
Mar 11 19:41:43 <Jerusha>   That's good, Evie
Mar 11 19:41:52 <Derynifank>   Yay for you  Evie
Mar 11 19:41:54 <The_Bee>   celts in kilts
Mar 11 19:42:02 <cathabeth>   Here's to low deductibles!
Mar 11 19:42:08 <DesertRose>   Kilts in zero gravity might leave something to be desired (as modesty is concerned)!
Mar 11 19:42:13 <Evie>   You definitely don't want to go commando if you are wearing kilts in space.  Zero gravity is not your friend in that situation.
Mar 11 19:42:13 <Laurna>   Good Evie.  I hope it all gets fixed soon
Mar 11 19:42:20 <Derynifank>   There is a tongue twister
Mar 11 19:42:23 <DesertRose>   LOL, Evie!
Mar 11 19:42:46 <Laurna>   LOL
Mar 11 19:43:06 <cathabeth>   I almost hear a song with that sentence.
Mar 11 19:43:10 <Jerusha>   One might feel a bit of a draft
Mar 11 19:43:14 <DesertRose>   LOL
Mar 11 19:43:38 <Laurna>   I will be sure to mention that to my sister's fiancee. He likes to wear his kilt.
Mar 11 19:43:44 <Evie>   If you're feeling a draft in space, you need to check that spacesuit or space station for a leak quickly!
Mar 11 19:43:46 *   jemler hums 'The Bonny Scotsman'
Mar 11 19:44:01 <Laurna>   lol
Mar 11 19:44:06 *   DesertRose sings, "A Scotsman clad in kilts left the bar one evening fair. . ."
Mar 11 19:44:17 <jemler>   'The Bonny Scotsman'
Mar 11 19:44:40 <Evie>   I read that as The Bunny Scotsman and imagined the Easter Bunny in a kilt
Mar 11 19:44:44 <DesertRose>   LOL!
Mar 11 19:44:58 <Laurna>   Killer coneys
Mar 11 19:44:59 <Jerusha>   A chocolate kilt?
Mar 11 19:45:11 <Shiral>   Don't wear that on a warm day
Mar 11 19:45:13 <Jerusha>   In kelts!
Mar 11 19:45:18 <DesertRose>   Okay, THAT could head right into R or NC-17 rating REALLY FAST!  :P
Mar 11 19:45:18 <jemler>   a Scottish rarebit?
Mar 11 19:45:23 <Derynifank>   Not easy hopping in a kilt
Mar 11 19:45:23 <Shiral>   Or you'll be going WAY more commando than you planned
Mar 11 19:45:45 *   jemler hums 'The Streak'
Mar 11 19:45:50 <DesertRose>   I don't think even Diana Gabaldon got quite that creative!
Mar 11 19:46:08 <JudyWard>   Checking back in. Home Chef is chili, so lots of chopping and browning, etc.
Mar 11 19:46:11 <cathabeth>   "Ring, ding diddle"
Mar 11 19:46:19 <Derynifank>   Who is she?
Mar 11 19:46:23 <Evie>   Well, there was that lack of 18th Century chocolate kilt makers, for one thing.
Mar 11 19:46:24 <KK>   Sorry I disappeared for a few minutes there.  Just got a call from my mom's favorite caregiver, who is having to retire for health reasons of her own.  Very sad.  But she promises to come and visit on her own time.  Very difficult for my mom, though.
Mar 11 19:46:29 <DesertRose>   She wrote the Outlander series.
Mar 11 19:46:34 <DesertRose>   Oh no, KK!
Mar 11 19:46:38 <jemler>   lady godiva (as in God, I've a shot at her) did too! :)
Mar 11 19:46:42 <Jerusha>   Oh dear, KK
Mar 11 19:46:48 <Evie>   Oh dear
Mar 11 19:46:59 <Laurna>   oh sorry to hear that , very hard on your mom
Mar 11 19:47:03 <Jerusha>   It's good that she will still visit
Mar 11 19:47:06 <bynw>   poor LBM
Mar 11 19:47:14 <JudyWard>   Oh, so hard for the elders to adjust to new people. Maybe they can have the next person go with the long time person for a few visits?
Mar 11 19:47:16 <DesertRose>   Is that the same caregiver who collapsed not long ago?
Mar 11 19:47:17 <Derynifank>   So sorry to hear that KK
Mar 11 19:47:31 <Evie>   I'm in the process of trying to research local resources for seniors, since my parents are trying to decide if it's financially feasible for them to move back up here or not.
Mar 11 19:47:32 <KK>   Yeah, it's a bummer fpr all concerned.  Yes, that's the one.
Mar 11 19:47:32 <The_Bee>   Hard for LBM.  I hope she'l get a successor she likes.
Mar 11 19:47:37 <cathabeth>   Sorry to hear that; can relate.
Mar 11 19:47:51 <DesertRose>   Well, phooey.  Poor LBM and poor caregiver.  Not fun for anyone.
Mar 11 19:48:06 <KK>   She's already got a new team rotated in.  They're mostly pretty good, and couple are outstanding.
Mar 11 19:48:17 <Shiral>   It's always hard to lose a good person
Mar 11 19:48:18 <Jerusha>   That's good, KK
Mar 11 19:48:19 <DesertRose>   Good
Mar 11 19:48:32 <jemler>   It'll be ok KK. if she (and YOU) survived your teen years, she's tough.
Mar 11 19:48:34 <KK>   This lady was the 8-4 person M-f, so she was the main one.
Mar 11 19:48:37 <Laurna>   Hope it works out well for your mom
Mar 11 19:48:43 <DesertRose>   Oh jeez.  That's difficult.
Mar 11 19:48:59 <Evie>   :-(
Mar 11 19:49:09 <Jerusha>   Yes, I rely heavily on my Dad's main caregiver
Mar 11 19:49:37 <DesertRose>   BRB
Mar 11 19:49:52 <Derynifank>   Hope it works out. Know  it's  a hard adjustment
Mar 11 19:50:39 <KK>   Well, she's already been adjusting for about 4 months, so it won't be anything sudden.  It's just that Ann won't be coming back other than to visit.
Mar 11 19:51:59 <Evie>   Hopefully she'll get to at least visit fairly regularly
Mar 11 19:52:47 <JudyWard>   Ann visiting will help though.
Mar 11 19:53:04 <JudyWard>   Just went through all this with Mom last Sept.
Mar 11 19:53:15 <Laurna>   Ann must have done most the cooking. I hope your mom likes the way the new caregiver cooks
Mar 11 19:53:22 <JudyWard>   It's hard but your mom will get used to the new people.
Mar 11 19:55:18 <Evie>   My parents are still able to be mostly independent, but Mom isn't really up to cooking 3 meals a day every day anymore because it hurts to stand up for very long at a time, and Dad isn't up to yardwork and home maintenance, so I'm hoping we can find them an apartment or condo nearby and hire someone to come in and do occasional cooking and light housekeeping.
Mar 11 19:55:45 <Evie>   Mom still enjoys cooking when she feels up to it, but she'd prefer not to have to cook when she doesn't feel up to dealing with it.
Mar 11 19:55:45 <Jerusha>   That would be good, Evie
Mar 11 19:55:56 <KK>   One of the other caregivers has already started planning meals and freezing portions.  That part is already handled.  And She pretty much knows al the other ladies who take care of her.
Mar 11 19:56:24 <Laurna>   that's good
Mar 11 19:56:30 <Jerusha>   An easier transition
Mar 11 19:57:28 <Laurna>   My dad has two favorite meals and he would eat them every day but I try hard to varry his food  but making him happy with other meals can be hit or miss sometimes.
Mar 11 19:57:54 <jemler>   bacon cheeseburgers?
Mar 11 19:58:14 <DesertRose>   Yeah, my stepdad looks askance at anything too non-Western.
Mar 11 19:58:30 <jemler>   like pizza?
Mar 11 19:58:36 <DesertRose>   He'll eat it, and usually he likes it, but that doesn't stop him from asking, "What is this?"
Mar 11 19:58:40 <Laurna>   Nope  BBQ pulled pork.  I makes me ill looking at at. but he wants it at least two nights a week.
Mar 11 19:58:48 <DesertRose>   No, like tandoori chicken or kofteh.  :P
Mar 11 19:59:03 <jemler>   kofteh?
Mar 11 19:59:09 <Jerusha>   I think I agree with you, Laurna
Mar 11 19:59:39 <Evie>   BBQ pulled pork is a staple in these parts.  We compete over which restaurant serves the best BBQ
Mar 11 19:59:40 <Laurna>   I eat something else on those lunches
Mar 11 19:59:46 <Jerusha>   My Dad has decided that at his age, he doesn't need to eat large meals.  Unless it involves chocolate pie
Mar 11 19:59:47 <DesertRose>   Kofteh is basically the Mediterranean cuisine equivalent to meatlof.
Mar 11 19:59:50 <DesertRose>   *meatloaf
Mar 11 19:59:51 <Evie>   My husband's blood type is BBQ+
Mar 11 20:00:16 <Jerusha>   :D
Mar 11 20:00:35 <DesertRose>   It's ground meat (beef or lamb, usually) mixed with spices and baked, but instead of being in a loaf pan like meatloaf, you press it flat in a 13 x 9 baking dish and put seasoned sliced tomatoes and potatoes on toop.
Mar 11 20:00:37 <Laurna>   Cheese cake for dad.  if it is not in the house he complains.  I don't eat that anymore either
Mar 11 20:01:04 <KK>   That sounds good, DR.
Mar 11 20:01:18 <DesertRose>   It is, and it's really fairly easy, if a little messy to make.
Mar 11 20:01:21 <Jerusha>   I like cheesecake, but in limited quantities
Mar 11 20:01:22 <JudyWard>   I'm not sure Lou is going to eat this chili as it's not like I usually make. I put in lots of chili pdr & cumin.
Mar 11 20:01:38 <JudyWard>   Cheesecake is sooooo rich!
Mar 11 20:01:46 <Evie>   I'll eat if if he doesn't, Judy
Mar 11 20:01:59 <DesertRose>   I first ate kofteh when I was around 20-21; I was dating a guy who was Palestinian, and he cooked it for me.
Mar 11 20:02:00 <JudyWard>   LOL! Come on, Evie!
Mar 11 20:02:04 <Jerusha>   And of course, I only eat chocolate cheesecake.
Mar 11 20:02:04 <Evie>   Send me your poor and lonely chili
Mar 11 20:02:06 <The_Bee>   five-alarm chili?
Mar 11 20:02:24 <cathabeth>   Black Forest Cheesecake is good.
Mar 11 20:02:33 <Evie>   I like amaretto cheesecake too
Mar 11 20:02:47 <DesertRose>   Ooh, cathabeth!  I love me some Black Forest cake!  I bet that's good!
Mar 11 20:02:53 <JudyWard>   Drizzle chocolate & raspberry syrup on my cheesecake
Mar 11 20:02:53 <Laurna>   I will each chocolate cheesecake. too.  dad doesn't like that kind so fortunatly it is never in the house.
Mar 11 20:03:01 <Jerusha>   I have a vision of the Statue of Liberty holding up a chili pepper
Mar 11 20:03:03 <Laurna>   yumm
Mar 11 20:03:09 <JudyWard>   Ooo! Amaretto~
Mar 11 20:03:19 <DesertRose>   Amaretto is good too.
Mar 11 20:03:25 <Shiral>   I'll have the chocolate, but have never been crazy about cheese cake
Mar 11 20:03:35 <Jerusha>   I make amaretto chocolate cheesecake, but only at Christmas
Mar 11 20:03:40 <DesertRose>   Is it amaretto or one of the other liqueurs that comes in the Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch bottle?
Mar 11 20:03:42 <JudyWard>   I usually use jalapenos but this time they sent poblano peppers.
Mar 11 20:03:52 <Evie>   I'll be over at Christmas, Jerusha. If I can find the place in the snow.  ;-)
Mar 11 20:04:12 <JudyWard>   Evie, you need to make the rounds & try everyone's cooking.
Mar 11 20:04:17 <Jerusha>   I'll light a candle in the window for you, Evie
Mar 11 20:04:32 <Evie>   I got those two conversations confused and wondered at first if Judy was making poblano cheesecake. LOL!
Mar 11 20:04:34 <DesertRose>   I'll make Mom's pecan pie recipe with the bourbon whipped cream to go on top!
Mar 11 20:04:37 <JudyWard>   When is the Con this year?
Mar 11 20:04:41 <Jerusha>   It might be the size of a bonfire
Mar 11 20:04:57 <KK>   Raspberry liqueur comes in the Holy Hand Grenade.
Mar 11 20:04:58 <Evie>   Which particular con, Judy?
Mar 11 20:05:06 <Laurna>   Can I come over during australias christmas time.  you can make that then too.  right Jerusha
Mar 11 20:05:10 <JudyWard>   My usual chili makes you think you have a bonfire in your mouth.
Mar 11 20:05:27 <DesertRose>   I knew the Holy Hand Grenade bottle was a liqueur, but I couldn't remember which one!
Mar 11 20:05:31 <JudyWard>   It was in Atlanta last year, I think?
Mar 11 20:05:31 <Jerusha>   Will do, Laurna
Mar 11 20:05:37 <DesertRose>   Oh, Dragon*Con.
Mar 11 20:05:40 <Evie>   Ah. OK, I'll find a milder version then. I can deal with mild spice, but nothing beyond that.
Mar 11 20:05:45 <DesertRose>   It's over Labor Day weekend basically every year, I think.
Mar 11 20:05:52 <bynw>   it is
Mar 11 20:05:53 <JudyWard>   DR, ever tried Hot Dam?
Mar 11 20:05:57 <DesertRose>   Yup!
Mar 11 20:06:00 <Evie>   On the other hand, I've had chili so bland that I couldn't really call it chili, just bean and beef stew
Mar 11 20:06:03 <JudyWard>   Good stuff!!
Mar 11 20:06:21 <DesertRose>   Yup, and I like cinnamon.  :)
Mar 11 20:06:21 <Jerusha>   Hot spices are not my thing
Mar 11 20:06:24 <JudyWard>   Yes, real chili should not have beans in it, should be on the side.
Mar 11 20:06:25 <Evie>   DragonCon is on Laber Day weekend every year
Mar 11 20:06:30 <KK>   Yes, Dragoncon is always in Atlanta over the Labor Day weekend.
Mar 11 20:06:45 <Jerusha>   Are you going this year, KK?
Mar 11 20:06:50 <KK>   Yes.
Mar 11 20:07:01 <JudyWard>   My job is changing & I'll have a chance to make commissions, so maybe it will work well & I can come over.
Mar 11 20:07:02 <Evie>   I'm fine with no beans in it; I just don't want to have to call the fire brigade after eating it.
Mar 11 20:07:04 <Jerusha>   Wish I was. :(
Mar 11 20:07:13 <Derynifank>   Texans fon'the put beans in child but I think most other people do
Mar 11 20:07:20 <The_Bee>   no-bean chili is a /texas thing, I've read.
Mar 11 20:07:45 <KK>   I don't mind <some> beans in chilli, but I can't do too hot.
Mar 11 20:07:45 <DesertRose>   Yeah.  Originally, chili was stewed meat in a red-spice mix, with the beans on the side.
Mar 11 20:07:49 <Derynifank>   Don'T
Mar 11 20:07:56 <bynw>   hot isnt a flavor
Mar 11 20:08:00 <Shiral>   Never been a fan of beans
Mar 11 20:08:01 <JudyWard>   It could be. I make Yankee Chili sometimes which does have beans in it.
Mar 11 20:08:25 <KK>   That's right.  And if thre's too much spice, the flavor gets overpowered and you can't taste the other ingredients.
Mar 11 20:08:31 <Laurna>   I'm afraid I don't eat chili, and not a fan of beans either
Mar 11 20:08:33 <JudyWard>   I love Thai food so hot is fine with me.
Mar 11 20:08:36 <DesertRose>   I think the bean-free chili makes a better hot-dog topping.
Mar 11 20:08:50 <DesertRose>   I have yet to eat Thai food in a restaurant.
Mar 11 20:08:52 <Derynifank>   True
Mar 11 20:09:05 <Evie>   My MIL serves chili over rice, which threw me for a loop when she served it to me that way, since I'd never seen it as a rice topping
Mar 11 20:09:13 <JudyWard>   We have a great one here called Thai Spoon
Mar 11 20:09:14 <Eyikl>   I think I'd prefer beef stew to chili
Mar 11 20:09:23 <DesertRose>   My introduction to Thai food (in my high school years) was the cooking of a friend's mom, and Friend and her mom were both Thai, so I think I'm spoiled.
Mar 11 20:09:24 <JudyWard>   Beef stew is good, too.
Mar 11 20:09:38 <DesertRose>   I'm not sure any restaurant's food is going to live up to Anchalee's mom's home cooking!
Mar 11 20:10:03 <Jerusha>   I'm allergic to onions, so most of that is not edible
Mar 11 20:10:07 <JudyWard>   I used to eat what a Thai woman made & the food in Thai Spoon tastes exactly the same, so I know it's genuine
Mar 11 20:10:15 <DesertRose>   Oh yum!
Mar 11 20:10:24 <The_Bee>   Do you top your chili with cheese?  My sister does.
Mar 11 20:10:27 <JudyWard>   Oh, no, Jerusha! I love onions
Mar 11 20:10:40 <bynw>   chili must be topped with cheese
Mar 11 20:10:41 <Jerusha>   I have no love of onions
Mar 11 20:10:47 <JudyWard>   Yes, cheese on top & a spoon of sour cream
Mar 11 20:11:11 <The_Bee>   oh yes
Mar 11 20:11:27 <DesertRose>   Well, if you're allergic to the things, no wonder you don't like them!
Mar 11 20:11:30 <Jerusha>   Guess who is also allergic to sour cream
Mar 11 20:11:35 <Evie>   I'm not allergic to onions, though I don't like the taste of them, so normally I request things made without it.  I don't mind a tiny bit of onion powder or minced onion if it's cooked to the point I can't taste strong onion flavor, but raw onion especially is non-food as far as I'm concerned.
Mar 11 20:12:10 <Evie>   I might cry if I ever become allergic to sour cream
Mar 11 20:12:11 <JudyWard>   Oh, Jerusha! Two of my favorite things!!
Mar 11 20:12:23 <DesertRose>   I used to like a slice of onion on a hamburger or other sandwich, but my stomach protests most mightily, so I just avoid raw onions.  Cooked are okay, though.
Mar 11 20:12:24 <Jerusha>   I have very simple tastes
Mar 11 20:12:27 <The_Bee>   onions in stew, but not onions alone
Mar 11 20:12:31 <JudyWard>   No Pico de Gallo for you then.
Mar 11 20:12:45 <Laurna>   I love fried onions. love fajita's  with onions peppers and stack and lots of Pico de gallo.
Mar 11 20:12:45 <Jerusha>   Yepper
Mar 11 20:12:55 <Laurna>   stake
Mar 11 20:12:58 <Derynifank>   Yum
Mar 11 20:13:00 <JudyWard>   Yes, Laurna!!
Mar 11 20:13:17 <KK>   No peppers for this gal.
Mar 11 20:13:19 <DesertRose>   I don't always put cheese on my chili if I'm just eating chili (or chili with cornbread), but if I'm doing potato toppers to use up leftover chili, I pretty much always put shredded cheese on that.
Mar 11 20:13:26 <JudyWard>   I'm cooking it longer than the directions say to
Mar 11 20:13:38 <JudyWard>   And I added some chili pdr & cumin again
Mar 11 20:13:47 <cathabeth>   If I wasn't full from a wonderful Benihana lunch, this chat would be making me hungry!
Mar 11 20:13:57 <JudyWard>   It smells interesting...
Mar 11 20:14:03 <Evie>   I like chili with shredded cheese, sour cream, and a few Fritos if we have any
Mar 11 20:14:10 <DesertRose>   It's pretty difficult to over-simmer chili.  You can certainly *burn* it, but low and slow doesn't hurt it.  :D
Mar 11 20:14:12 <JudyWard>   I've never been to benihana.
Mar 11 20:14:29 <JudyWard>   Yes, just combines the flavors more.
Mar 11 20:14:30 <DesertRose>   My parents took me when I was about six months old.
Mar 11 20:14:47 <Derynifank>   And you remeber yhst?
Mar 11 20:14:50 <Evie>   LOL! Cathabeth, we should have warned you, the topic here tends to veer crazily from cats to cuisine to everything else under the sun. And on occasion, even to Deryni.  ;-)
Mar 11 20:15:00 <DesertRose>   My mom was worried that I would fuss and she wouldn't get to enjoy a grown-up sit-down dinner, but as it transpired, the Teppanyaki chef played to me, and I was mesmerized.
Mar 11 20:15:01 <Jerusha>   While I don't eat them very often, I love fritoes
Mar 11 20:15:12 <DesertRose>   No, I don't remember; the story is legendary, though.  ;)
Mar 11 20:15:22 <JudyWard>   If you were in Dallas area, Cathabeth, I'd say try BoBo China in Grapevine
Mar 11 20:15:33 <Laurna>   lol dr
Mar 11 20:15:39 <cathabeth>   Have,JudyWard, and yes, it is good.
Mar 11 20:16:30 <JudyWard>   My B & SIL took their oldest when he was about 8 mos old & he wanted the mushrooms. So we let him have them...but next morning they came out exactly like they went in
Mar 11 20:16:40 <DesertRose>   LOL
Mar 11 20:16:48 <Jerusha>   Ooops
Mar 11 20:16:50 <Derynifank>   Babies do that
Mar 11 20:17:00 <KK>   EEEwwww.
Mar 11 20:17:11 <Evie>   :-D
Mar 11 20:17:23 <Derynifank>   That could turn you off to mushrooms
Mar 11 20:17:26 <KK>   Scott does not like mushrooms, so I always get hsi when we go out and they're served.
Mar 11 20:17:28 <JudyWard>   Yes, & I was the one changing his diaper. He's 35 now, not his favorite family story.
Mar 11 20:17:41 <JudyWard>   I love mushrooms, too.
Mar 11 20:17:45 <Evie>   That might put me off mushrooms for life, except that mushrooms already put me off mushrooms for life
Mar 11 20:17:54 <JudyWard>   LOL Evie
Mar 11 20:18:02 <Laurna>   I will try to forget that i read that Judyward
Mar 11 20:18:05 <Laurna>   lol
Mar 11 20:18:37 <Evie>   You can have mine too, KK
Mar 11 20:18:53 <DesertRose>   Yeah, I'm not a mushroom fan either.
Mar 11 20:18:57 <bynw>   KK, my wife would get mine too
Mar 11 20:18:58 <Evie>   If DH hasn't already speared them off my plate
Mar 11 20:19:08 <DesertRose>   LOL, JudyWard, I have a story like that about one of my cousins.
Mar 11 20:19:10 <Jerusha>   I like mushrooms
Mar 11 20:19:17 <cathabeth>   You may have mine.
Mar 11 20:19:22 <Jerusha>   OK
Mar 11 20:19:26 <Shiral>   I like mushrooms as a PART of a dish, but I want them cooked. Raw mushrooms put me right off
Mar 11 20:19:37 <DesertRose>   I was changing his diaper while I was babysitting him and his older sister, and while I had his bum raised, he needed to wee, and being about six months old, he didn't much care where.
Mar 11 20:19:44 <Jerusha>   I like them both ways
Mar 11 20:19:47 <Evie>   Someone needs to take note of all the food likes and dislikes if we ever manage to pull together a KK-Con.  :-D
Mar 11 20:19:52 <bynw>   i dont even use cream of mushroom soup in dishes the call for it
Mar 11 20:19:52 <DesertRose>   Right?
Mar 11 20:19:58 <The_Bee>   I didn't care for mushrooms as a child, but now I've had stuffed mushrooms I've liked.
Mar 11 20:20:06 <DesertRose>   That'd probably end up being my job at Deryni-Con, food wrangler.  :D
Mar 11 20:20:09 <JudyWard>   Oh, you got it in the face, eh? I think all boys do that at one time or another.
Mar 11 20:20:21 <Jerusha>   It's a right of passage
Mar 11 20:20:27 <DesertRose>   No, JudyWard, he weed in his own face, so instead of a simple diaper change, he got an entire bath!
Mar 11 20:20:36 <Evie>   I like green bean casserole, but if I'm making it I use cream of chicken soup, or cream of celery, or cream of anything-but-mushroom
Mar 11 20:20:46 <JudyWard>   LOL! My youngest brother did that & then cried about it.
Mar 11 20:20:56 <The_Bee>   We tried a Derynicon once.  It didn't work too well.
Mar 11 20:21:06 <DesertRose>   I don't care for green bean casserole at all.  I think I was about thirty before I even learned to make it, and then only because other people wanted it.
Mar 11 20:21:10 <bynw>   Evie, yeah i usually substitute cream of celery when it calls for cream of mushroom
Mar 11 20:21:11 <JudyWard>   That's a shame. Would be fun!
Mar 11 20:21:17 <DesertRose>   No, I know, Bee.  It wound up being an admin snafu, IIRC.
Mar 11 20:21:24 <Jerusha>   I have a good recipe for green bean casserole that uses cream cheese instead of cream of mushroom soup
Mar 11 20:21:37 <JudyWard>   We should do a private one & everyone stay in one hotel. We could have a pot luck.
Mar 11 20:22:04 <DesertRose>   I think part of the admin snafu was that the fan-base is scattered to the four winds but good!
Mar 11 20:22:07 <JudyWard>   Just like a family reunion
Mar 11 20:22:07 <KK>   That could work.  We used to do Michaeline retreats that way, before we could afford to use a retreat center.
Mar 11 20:22:14 <The_Bee>   not enough people committed. Julianne and her hubby put up the funds; we took a collection to reimbursethem.
Mar 11 20:22:32 <JudyWard>   Yes, KK, I think it could work.
Mar 11 20:22:37 <Evie>   That sounds good, Jerusha
Mar 11 20:22:38 <DesertRose>   We've got revanne and Demercia and drakensis and a few others in the UK, Alkari and Duck in Australia, Jerusha and at least one other Canadian, and the rest of us scattered across the US!
Mar 11 20:23:01 <JudyWard>   Yes, some might not make it. 80(
Mar 11 20:23:02 <Jerusha>   Name the hotel, and we will come
Mar 11 20:23:09 <KK>   Yeah, that could be a problem for our international folk.  On the other hand, it might provide an excuse to come to the US.
Mar 11 20:23:13 <JudyWard>   We could Skipe them in, though.
Mar 11 20:23:14 <DesertRose>   And we had irina and Texanu (neither of whom I've seen in chat in a while) in the Netherlands and Russia, respectively.
Mar 11 20:23:23 <The_Bee>   We wound up going to a local Renfaire instead.
Mar 11 20:23:42 <KK>   Is Duck still around in Australia?  Haven't heard from or of him in years.
Mar 11 20:23:59 <JudyWard>   I haven't seen anyone by that name on
Mar 11 20:24:01 <DesertRose>   Last I knew, he was, KK, but it's been a good while since he was able to show for chat.
Mar 11 20:24:03 <bynw>   yes he is the last time i chatted with him. but it's been a while
Mar 11 20:24:27 <DesertRose>   Alkari is still in Oz, though.  Sydney metro area, IIRC.
Mar 11 20:24:30 <JudyWard>   Arn't the aussies nearly 25 hrs ahead?
Mar 11 20:24:49 <Evie>   Yes. Chat time is Monday morning for Alkari
Mar 11 20:24:51 <DesertRose>   Yes, early chat is something like 8 am Sydney time, or it was when the US was still on standard time.
Mar 11 20:25:02 <JudyWard>   I have a friend in NZ I only catch at morning & evening.
Mar 11 20:25:04 <DesertRose>   Maybe earlier.
Mar 11 20:25:08 <Laurna>   Alkari was on not too long ago and said hello
Mar 11 20:25:15 <DesertRose>   Yes, she made it to February early chat, I think.
Mar 11 20:25:16 <Jerusha>   Not a bad time, if you don't have other commitments
Mar 11 20:25:20 <The_Bee>   Judy, "Duck" is Donald Lanski.
Mar 11 20:25:43 <DesertRose>   And Alkari is retired, but she has a morning aqua aerobics class, and she's had some medical issues so she really prioritizes the exercise class.
Mar 11 20:26:02 <DesertRose>   Unfortunately, that means that regular chat time is during the class.
Mar 11 20:26:10 <Jerusha>   Bummer
Mar 11 20:26:30 <Jerusha>   But exercise is also important
Mar 11 20:26:34 <DesertRose>   Yup
Mar 11 20:26:46 <DesertRose>   Move 'em or lose 'em, where joints and muscles are concerned.
Mar 11 20:27:40 <DesertRose>   I've been thinking about rejoining the YMCA so I can go back to swimming laps at least.
Mar 11 20:27:50 <JudyWard>   I've got to go feed Lou as he is diabetic. Hope to hear from everyone next week. Love this Chat!!
Mar 11 20:28:02 <Evie>   iSee you later
Mar 11 20:28:03 <Shiral>   Haven't heard from Donald in years
Mar 11 20:28:09 <Shiral>   Bye, Judy
Mar 11 20:28:10 <DesertRose>   The last time I did an aqua class (when they were still in the old building--they have a shiny new one now), the guy running the class was about 25 and seemed to think that we all were too!
Mar 11 20:28:13 <bynw>   i just emailed him
Mar 11 20:28:16 <DesertRose>   Later, JudyWard!  Enjoy the chili!
Mar 11 20:28:16 <Jerusha>   have a good week, JudyWard!

Mar 11 20:29:02 <Jerusha>   It's the thought that counts
Mar 11 20:29:12 <DesertRose>   Are you talking about Brom or Duck, bynw?
Mar 11 20:29:19 <bynw>   Brom
Mar 11 20:29:20 <DesertRose>   Because I'm pretty sure Duck has shown since then.
Mar 11 20:29:22 <DesertRose>   Oh, okay.

Mar 11 20:29:42 <DesertRose>   Good.
Mar 11 20:29:42 <KK>   Is he still doing advance anthropology for oil projects?
Mar 11 20:29:57 <DesertRose>   I hope you let Duck know we miss him!
Mar 11 20:30:06 <KK>   And throwing critters out of trenches so they don't get buried by equipment?
Mar 11 20:30:32 <bynw>   KK, no idea. But maybe i will have an update next week on what Duck is doing these days
Mar 11 20:30:43 <KK>   Was Brom the guy with the young son--who must be grown by now!

Mar 11 20:31:29 <The_Bee>   I can't even remember Brom. :(
Mar 11 20:31:46 <DesertRose>   Probably not, Evie.  I think Susie had been gone a while when you found us
Mar 11 20:32:08 <Evie>   Yeah, I think that was shortly before my time.  I joined, what, about ten years ago?
Mar 11 20:32:12 <DesertRose>   Uh.

Mar 11 20:33:01 <bynw>   KK, yeah she was a big fan of skating
Mar 11 20:33:15 <Shiral>   Yes, Susan always loved the skating And the skating was a pretty high order of drama this year
Mar 11 20:33:15 <The_Bee>   VirtualBabe is another long-time-missing.  And Snuffybear.

Mar 11 20:36:17 <KK>   I think it's about time for me to go, too.  But wanted to share that I took Scott to see the terracotta warriors for his birthday on Friday.  They were at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts in Richmond--cool exhibit.  I think the best, oddly enough, was seeing the photograph of the first pit they opened up, with probably 20 or so warriors, and thinking what an absolute thrill it must have been for the guys to first discovered them.  Find of the
