Nov 29 19:04:12 <DesertRose>   Two phones ago, I had a phone fall out of my purse and slide under a car in the parking lot of my apartment building.  I didn't notice my phone missing until I was at a friend's house.  When I got home, it was still in the parking space.
Nov 29 19:04:13 <DesertRose>   Hi KK!
Nov 29 19:04:14 <The_Bee>   Hi KK!
Nov 29 19:04:17 <jemler>   hi kk
Nov 29 19:04:18 <KK>   Hello, all.
Nov 29 19:04:18 <EPCarpenter>   Hi!
Nov 29 19:04:20 <PhoneEvie>   And our original 7:30 eta to MIL's house for dinner has been turned to 9:00
Nov 29 19:04:23 <Shiral>   Hello, Katherine
Nov 29 19:04:35 <PhoneEvie>   Hi KK
Nov 29 19:05:01 <The_Bee>   How was your thanksgiving, KK?
Nov 29 19:05:01 <KK>   Yike, missing phones.  Not fun.
Nov 29 19:05:24 <KK>   Thanksgiving was fine, quiet.
Nov 29 19:05:30 <DesertRose>   Quiet is good.  :)
Nov 29 19:05:56 <Shiral>   Mine was busy, THEN quiet.=o)
Nov 29 19:05:57 <PhoneEvie>   Yes, definitely
Nov 29 19:06:09 <KK>   Good food, a nice drive up onto the Blue Ridge Parkway after, which my mom always enjoys.  She's mad for mountains.
Nov 29 19:06:10 <DesertRose>   Well, that's just a pain, PhoneEvie.
Nov 29 19:06:29 <DesertRose>   The Blue Ridge Parkway is a pretty drive.
Nov 29 19:06:30 <KK>   U read about your adventure, Shiral.  Table was lovely.
Nov 29 19:06:30 <EPCarpenter>   Made my Thanksgiving into a mini Christmas- Dad's headed to Florida so this was it.
Nov 29 19:06:50 <DesertRose>   What part of Florida, EPCarpenter?
Nov 29 19:07:23 <EPCarpenter>   Panhandle to winter over with my Cousin, he's another son to him.
Nov 29 19:07:31 <Shiral>   Thanks, KK My mom was on the point of asking a family friend of ours to Thanksgiving. I would have been glad to see him, but it would also have thrown me into a minor tizz, because my tablescape, as they say was based on their being six people.
Nov 29 19:07:42 <DesertRose>   Ah, different part of the state from me.  I'm in the northeastern corner.
Nov 29 19:08:06 <KK>   I've spent the afternoon ordering presents online, to take advantage of as many cyber-discounts as I can.  I've been saving catalog pages for months in preparation.
Nov 29 19:08:20 <EPCarpenter>   Cousin Andy manages a commercial farm somewhere north west of Ocala.
Nov 29 19:08:25 <DesertRose>   Nice area.
Nov 29 19:08:33 <Shiral>   Oh, PRESENTS. For a second I read that as Pheasants.=o)
Nov 29 19:08:39 <jemler>   i lived in ocala when i was 7.
Nov 29 19:08:40 <DesertRose>   And there's a lot of farmland in that area.
Nov 29 19:08:40 <PhoneEvie>   LOL
Nov 29 19:08:42 <KK>   Easy enough to put in your extra leaf.  And few people expect everything to match when there's a big dinner.
Nov 29 19:08:49 <DesertRose>   Lots of horse farms for some reason.
Nov 29 19:09:15 <DesertRose>   Why would KK be ordering pheasants?  Something to annoy the cats and dogs?
Nov 29 19:09:18 <DesertRose>   :-D
Nov 29 19:09:21 <EPCarpenter>   That's when a good table with 3 extra leaves pays a dividend, like my Duncan Fife.
Nov 29 19:09:25 <Shiral>   It is, but I had just six matching napkins. Food wouldn't have been a problem since we had plenty. But the friend declined, he's rather reclusive
Nov 29 19:09:55 <Shiral>   "Oh, a pheasant. JUST what I always wanted..."
Nov 29 19:10:01 <KK>   I'm hoping we'll find someone who needs Christmas dinner, as Cameron & Anna aren't going to be able to make it after all.  He used up all his vacation time with the wedding, honeymoon, and wisdom teeth out right after.
Nov 29 19:10:22 <Shiral>   The first two sound like fun, but definitely not the third
Nov 29 19:10:25 <DesertRose>   Poor Cameron.
Nov 29 19:10:33 <KK>   Well, we have a haunch of venison for Christmas dinner.  Not sure how I'm going to cook it.
Nov 29 19:10:41 <DesertRose>   I have a funny story about when I had my wisdom teeth out.
Nov 29 19:11:00 <Shiral>   Yes, you'll need help eating that. It sounds like you're serving dinner at Rhemuth Castle. =o)
Nov 29 19:11:13 <The_Bee>   My parents met because of her wisdom teeth.
Nov 29 19:11:20 <jemler>   he had his wisdom teeth taken out AFTER the wedding?
Nov 29 19:11:26 <DesertRose>   DD was very young, and I forgot to mention to my dentist that she was still nursing.  The dentist gave me Percocet, so she slept like a log that night.  :)
Nov 29 19:11:49 <EPCarpenter>   I remember the days of budgeting paid leave time... Not anymore. It's a retirement check every month, and research & writing every day!
Nov 29 19:11:59 <KK>   Actually, if I can find a butcher who will do it (many don't do game), I'd like to cut off a few steaks and then have the rest sliced up in strips for venison stroganoff, a variation on our usual beef.
Nov 29 19:12:02 <DesertRose>   That'll be PhoneEvie after next week.  :)
Nov 29 19:12:13 <DesertRose>   The retirement thing, not the venison thing.  :)
Nov 29 19:12:36 <KK>   Ain't it great, EPC?
Nov 29 19:12:41 <PhoneEvie>    Yes, please don't slice me into strips!
Nov 29 19:12:56 <DesertRose>   Yikes!  No!  You have to finish posting BoP!  :-D
Nov 29 19:13:02 <Shiral>   That would be a lousy birthday greeting, Evie
Nov 29 19:13:09 <DesertRose>   Indeed.
Nov 29 19:13:18 <Shiral>   I'm sure you don't want to be PhoneEvie Stroganoff
Nov 29 19:13:24 <PhoneEvie>   Yes, I prefer retirement for my birthday
Nov 29 19:13:27 <DesertRose>   No, no Evie stroganoff.
Nov 29 19:13:48 <EPCarpenter>   Couldn't be better. Now my only problem is travel requirements to complete research at archives and libraries. Planning a January jaunt to DC to hit the National Archives and Library of Congress.
Nov 29 19:13:52 <jemler>   are you sure that's how it's spelled?
Nov 29 19:13:59 <PhoneEvie>   My new name.
Nov 29 19:14:21 <PhoneEvie>   Sounds fun, EPC
Nov 29 19:14:23 <DesertRose>   Prepare to get lost in the National Archives and the Library of Congress.
Nov 29 19:14:29 <Shiral>   E.T. Phone Evie...
Nov 29 19:14:34 <Shiral>   (Sorry, couldn't resist
Nov 29 19:14:43 <jemler>   i thought it was beef strokin' off.
Nov 29 19:14:45 <DesertRose>   My stepdad and DD get themselves immersed every time they go to DC.
Nov 29 19:14:49 *   jemler ducks
Nov 29 19:14:53 <The_Bee>   Remind me, EPC--what is your book going to be about?
Nov 29 19:15:02 *   DesertRose smacks jemler with a swordfish.
Nov 29 19:15:04 *   Shiral lobs a flying venison haunch at Jemler
Nov 29 19:15:18 <Shiral>   Incoming!
Nov 29 19:15:21 <EPCarpenter>   I like NARA. I usually run out of time there- So many Civil War and Rev War service records I need to copy for myself and friends... Never been to LOC.
Nov 29 19:15:38 *   Jerusha (Mibbit@OWIRCN-ed6597a5.dsl.bell.ca) has joined
Nov 29 19:15:39 <DesertRose>   LOC is apparently vast.
Nov 29 19:15:41 <DesertRose>   Hi Jerusha.
Nov 29 19:15:45 <PhoneEvie>   What was that word that means to smack someone with a fish?
Nov 29 19:15:49 <jemler>   hi jerusha
Nov 29 19:15:50 <DesertRose>   Cornobble.
Nov 29 19:15:50 <Shiral>   Hello Jerusha
Nov 29 19:15:56 <The_Bee>   Shiral!  That was one of Santa's reindeer!
Nov 29 19:15:57 <KK>   Cornobble.
Nov 29 19:16:02 <The_Bee>   Hi Jerusha
Nov 29 19:16:03 <Jerusha>   Hi Everyone!
Nov 29 19:16:13 <Shiral>   Naw, it was just a deer deer
Nov 29 19:16:16 <KK>   Hi, Jerusha.
Nov 29 19:16:21 <DesertRose>   Jerusha, did y'all do the Hobbit thing and have second Thanksgiving?  :)
Nov 29 19:16:35 <Jerusha>   Absolutely!
Nov 29 19:16:38 <DesertRose>   :D
Nov 29 19:16:41 <PhoneEvie>   Cornobble sounds like a Thanksgiving dish
Nov 29 19:16:48 <Jerusha>   Though we went out for dinner.
Nov 29 19:16:51 <Shiral>   Yes, some kind of corn pudding
Nov 29 19:16:52 <KK>   It does, doesn't it?
Nov 29 19:16:55 <DesertRose>   It does, maybe involving maize.  :)
Nov 29 19:17:09 <KK>   Or hominy, maybe.
Nov 29 19:17:11 <Jerusha>   Or you just nobble on an ear of corn
Nov 29 19:17:14 <EPCarpenter>   My current fast track is about the history of the service I came up in. I have been asked to write a few articles for True West Magazine on some things. I thought my first would be on the jails and jailbreaks of the old west, but my leisure time research on Tombstone and Doc Holliday turned up something interesting.
Nov 29 19:17:15 <DesertRose>   Yes.  :)
Nov 29 19:17:45 <PhoneEvie>   Pass me some cornobble please, and some cranberry sauce
Nov 29 19:18:07 <jemler>   remember lst week.
Nov 29 19:18:07 <Shiral>   Have some of mine--I've got a small vat of cranberry sauce in my fridge
Nov 29 19:18:17 <PhoneEvie>   Research often does that
Nov 29 19:18:19 <The_Bee>   about Doc Holliday?
Nov 29 19:18:19 <Jerusha>   Jerusha dips a fish in cornmeal, and lobs it over to Evie
Nov 29 19:18:30 <KK>   Sounds yummy--the cornobble and cranberry sauce.  The book also sounds good, though not to eat.
Nov 29 19:18:48 <Jerusha>   What did you turn up, EPC?
Nov 29 19:19:05 <EPCarpenter>   Yp. John Henry Holliday was a very interesting character. There was more to him that the rep and the newspaper stories.
Nov 29 19:19:30 <Jerusha>   Good, bad, or somewhere in between?
Nov 29 19:19:35 <jemler>   he was also a hotel manager?
Nov 29 19:19:35 <PhoneEvie>   I've had my appetite whetted for a book, but not literally
Nov 29 19:19:56 <Shiral>   Dmitri just arrived to purr in my ear. I think he's wishing you all a Happy Thanksgiving
Nov 29 19:20:02 <jemler>   evie are you going to eat some elses words?
Nov 29 19:20:06 <Jerusha>   Thanks, Dmitri
Nov 29 19:20:09 <The_Bee>   hello, Dmitri
Nov 29 19:20:18 <DesertRose>   Hi Dmitri.
Nov 29 19:20:36 <Jerusha>   Only after Evie sits down at the Table of Contents
Nov 29 19:20:44 <PhoneEvie>   LOL
Nov 29 19:21:21 <EPCarpenter>   It's a long story. Suffice it to say that I turned up connections between Holliday, Kate Harony (Big Nose Kate) and a man who grew up in the same town as Kate, whose family were full of Physicians some of whom look to have known Holliday's uncle, the physician. This man was one of General David Cook's Rocky Mountain Detective Association operatives.
Nov 29 19:21:41 <Jerusha>   Oh my
Nov 29 19:22:19 <KK>   Wheels within wheels, and unexpected connections.  Isn't history wonderful? :-)
Nov 29 19:22:28 <DesertRose>   Historical research is an adventure.
Nov 29 19:22:43 <EPCarpenter>   The operative was in all of those southwest towns undercover at all of the times Doc & Kate were there. There were other things. It's a very hot lead.
Nov 29 19:23:09 <DesertRose>   Interesting.  :)
Nov 29 19:23:33 <DesertRose>   BRB
Nov 29 19:24:13 <KK>   Happy hunting!
Nov 29 19:24:32 <EPCarpenter>   There is a strong possibility that Holliday was working for General Cook, at least as a confidential source (but probably more) from 1876 until his death. Many things point to it, if you lay everything I have out and look at it.

Nov 29 19:27:48 <Aerlys>   one-handed typing...capitalization will be ignored.
Nov 29 19:27:48 <PhoneEvie>   Itty bitty fetal enhancement
Nov 29 19:28:06 <DesertRose>   Holy cow, jemler!  What's in the water around your family?  It seems like someone's having a baby left right and center in your family lately.  :)
Nov 29 19:28:10 <EPCarpenter>   nocapsnopunctuationnoproblemmmmm
Nov 29 19:28:27 <Jerusha>   Type by intent, Aerlys, and we'll ignore the details.  :)

Nov 29 19:28:43 <PhoneEvie>   At least jemler isn't pregnant
Nov 29 19:28:57 <Jerusha>   Unless he hasn't told us
Nov 29 19:28:59 <DesertRose>   He'd be set for life financially if he were.  :)
Nov 29 19:29:01 <Aerlys>   amen to that!
Nov 29 19:29:07 <jemler>   my sister has 3 granskids. i think my brother already has a grandson, but i haven't seen vince jr in years.
Nov 29 19:29:22 <Shiral>   I'm thinking it would HAVE to be  a C-section in his case though.
Nov 29 19:29:23 <jemler>   like hell i would!
Nov 29 19:29:43 <DesertRose>   It'd be...um... newsworthy.  :)
Nov 29 19:29:56 <Shiral>   Very!
Nov 29 19:30:11 <Aerlys>   we'd have to forego throwing fish at him
Nov 29 19:30:34 <PhoneEvie>   Maybe just throw small fish
Nov 29 19:30:43 <Jerusha>   Smelt are good for that.
Nov 29 19:30:45 <Aerlys>   squishy fish

Nov 29 19:31:54 <Jerusha>   Jerusha catches the tuna for a future snack

Nov 29 19:32:32 <DesertRose>   LOL
Nov 29 19:33:25 <DesertRose>   If not for the choking hazard, calamari might make decent teething material.
Nov 29 19:33:34 <Jerusha>   Chewy enough
Nov 29 19:33:40 <Shiral>   Yes. Chewy, no sharp edges
Nov 29 19:33:53 <PhoneEvie>   Deep fried rubber bands

Nov 29 19:38:04 <Jerusha>   Sorry, DR - didn't make the association with the earlier post
Nov 29 19:38:23 <DesertRose>   I just have not much space in it right now because I let my neighbor store some stuff in my freezer that wouldn't fit in his.
Nov 29 19:38:43 <DesertRose>   Maybe I'll make him take some of his stuff back to free up some space in mine.  He should have thinned out his own freezer by now. :)
Nov 29 19:38:51 <DesertRose>   No worries, Jerusha.
Nov 29 19:39:29 <Aerlys>   It's been cold enough here to keep that soup outside on the porch
Nov 29 19:39:51 <PhoneEvie>   Wow!
Nov 29 19:39:52 <DesertRose>   Yeah, this is Florida.  If it gets cold enough to keep anything outdoors, we flip our collective lids.  :-D
Nov 29 19:39:53 <Shiral>   It's even been cold here where I am.
Nov 29 19:39:56 <EPCarpenter>   Sir, kindly remove your haunch of venison from my freezer- The hoof it holding the door open!

Nov 29 19:40:18 <DesertRose>   We think 60F is cold.  :)
Nov 29 19:40:19 <Shiral>   At very least we are experiencing an interruption of balminess
Nov 29 19:40:34 <Jerusha>   It's actually warm here, for November
Nov 29 19:40:48 <Jerusha>   Almost December
Nov 29 19:40:52 <The_Bee>   Our interlude of balminess is over.
Nov 29 19:40:57 <DesertRose>   It was something like 76F for the high here today.

Nov 29 19:41:19 <DesertRose>   Outdoors is for lawn furniture to us.  :)
Nov 29 19:41:29 <Shiral>   We all went for a walk after eating Thanksgiving dinner, and we were all glad to go back inside and drink some hot tea.
Nov 29 19:41:33 <The_Bee>   SEasons have been coming at the wrong time of year for several decades now.
Nov 29 19:41:34 <PhoneEvie>   Freezing fog?!

Nov 29 19:43:22 <DesertRose>   Snickerdoodles go well with a nice cup of coffee.  :)
Nov 29 19:43:24 *   The_Bee adds hot spiced mead.
Nov 29 19:43:28 <EPCarpenter>   A cup of coffee with a shot of whipped and a wee dram for me!
Nov 29 19:43:41 <KK>   I'm back.
Nov 29 19:43:51 <Jerusha>   wb, KK

Nov 29 19:43:58 <DesertRose>   WB, KK.
Nov 29 19:43:58 <The_Bee>   rehi, KK
Nov 29 19:44:09 <Shiral>   Hello again, KK
Nov 29 19:44:10 <PhoneEvie>   Yum, snickerdoodles
Nov 29 19:44:15 <Jerusha>   Jerusha adds amaretto
Nov 29 19:44:17 *   jemler puts out apple brandy
Nov 29 19:44:28 <DesertRose>   I have become semi-famous for my snickerdoodles.  Apparently I bake them well.
Nov 29 19:44:54 <The_Bee>   What's the recipe?
Nov 29 19:44:56 <KK>   EPC, that amaretto bread pudding sounds wonderful.  I often make BP for Christmas dinner, but never thought of substituting Amaretto.  I think I'd actually add it in addition to the vanilla, since vanilla enhances nearly everything.

Nov 29 19:45:01 <jemler>   wb nava
Nov 29 19:45:04 <DesertRose>   I got the silly recipe off the internet.
Nov 29 19:45:05 <Shiral>   Okay, Jasta just sent me an incredibly silly video. I have to share it https://www.facebook.com/melissa.houle.353
Nov 29 19:45:05 <Aerlys>   everything about me is half-baked
Nov 29 19:45:06 <The_Bee>   rehi, Nava
Nov 29 19:45:08 <EPCarpenter>   Almost out of Apple Brandy. I used most of it in my Apple Pecan stuffing.
Nov 29 19:45:40 <Aerlys>   how is jasta?
Nov 29 19:45:42 <NavaWazr>   oooh yummy apple pecan stuffing
Nov 29 19:45:49 <Jerusha>   Rhys us not half-baked.  :D
Nov 29 19:46:06 <Shiral>   She got back from spending Thanksgiving in Virginia. Otherwise, I don't have a lot of details.
Nov 29 19:46:14 <The_Bee>   My family's traditional stuffing is peanut.
Nov 29 19:46:18 <Aerlys>   No, he came out of the oven right on time
Nov 29 19:46:19 <PhoneEvie>   Yes, Rhys is fresh out of the oven
Nov 29 19:46:26 <DesertRose>   She posted something about having to trim a horse's forelock because he got into mischief.
Nov 29 19:46:27 <EPCarpenter>   You can try them both together KK- I figured I'd just go with the Amaretto. It's very tasty- The parrot wouldn't stop eating it the last time. Such a sweet beak she has...
Nov 29 19:46:31 <DesertRose>   Jasta, that is.
Nov 29 19:46:48 <Shiral>   My stuffing was "Fling it in and see how well it works." It was really the best thing about the dinner IMO
Nov 29 19:47:10 <DesertRose>   My mother has finally perfected the cornbread dressing she remembers from her childhood, and it is GOOOOOOOOOD.  :)
Nov 29 19:47:20 <Jerusha>   An amaretto swilling parot?
Nov 29 19:47:45 <Jerusha>   parrot, that is
Nov 29 19:47:48 <EPCarpenter>   Since the wifey is a vegetarian, I don't cook the stuffing with the bird, and I've been experimenting with improvements.
Nov 29 19:48:06 <Jerusha>   With the parrot!!!
Nov 29 19:48:17 <DesertRose>   Yeah, we didn't put the dressing in the turkey either.  It got baked separately in a casserole dish.
Nov 29 19:48:25 <EPCarpenter>   Amaretto Berad Pudding and Rice Pudding hogging parrot!
Nov 29 19:48:36 <NavaWazr>   mine was an everything I can think of stuffing and then add more pecans, sage, butter and dried cranberries
Nov 29 19:49:01 <DesertRose>   Ours was much plainer than that, no nuts or anything, but it was yummy.  :)
Nov 29 19:49:04 <jemler>   we had stove top. there were only 4 of us.
Nov 29 19:49:22 <NavaWazr>   I did a spatchcocked turkey, has worked very well these last couple of years. Stuffing is in separate dish
Nov 29 19:49:27 <Jerusha>   I'll do stuffing at Christmas.
Nov 29 19:49:32 <The_Bee>   I had thanksgiving dinner at my church.
Nov 29 19:49:33 <Jerusha>   Sage and mushroom
Nov 29 19:49:38 <Aerlys>   sounds rather like you stuffed the parrot, epc
Nov 29 19:49:42 <Shiral>   I discovered my trussing needles had disappeared, so I only stuffed the main cavity. Most of the stuffing was baked ex-turkey
Nov 29 19:49:49 <DesertRose>   LOL
Nov 29 19:49:56 <EPCarpenter>   She's a self stuffer.
Nov 29 19:50:15 <Shiral>   Especially if there's Amaretto involved. =o)
Nov 29 19:50:19 <DesertRose>   Sorry, the talk of parrots and then the ex-turkey made me think of that silly Monty Python sketch about the ex-parrot.
Nov 29 19:50:35 <KK>   Well, of course.
Nov 29 19:50:38 <PhoneEvie>    We went to a friend's Thanksgiving party this year. Potluck style, with them supplying the turkey.  All of the yumminess without having to figure out where to put the leftovers
Nov 29 19:50:40 <jemler>   Spam!\
Nov 29 19:50:41 <Aerlys>   is your daughter still in washington, EPC?
Nov 29 19:50:52 <Shiral>   Yes,  a lot of turkeys ran up the curtain and joined the Choir invisibule last week
Nov 29 19:50:56 <DesertRose>   That sounds like the way to do it, PhoneEvie.
Nov 29 19:51:10 <DesertRose>   Probably more turkeys last week than in any other week in the year.  :)
Nov 29 19:51:21 <Shiral>   Finished the last of my stuffing this morning with a poached egg on top
Nov 29 19:51:46 <EPCarpenter>   Nope- We're all home now. The ladies are back to school tomorrow and I'm on my own again. Dinner's by HouseHubby!
Nov 29 19:51:52 <Shiral>   The Turkey-pocalypse
Nov 29 19:52:14 <NavaWazr>   no leftover stuffing meant I had to make another batch yesterday to go with store roasted chicken
Nov 29 19:52:28 <Jerusha>   I have a flash-back to WKRP in Cincinnati
Nov 29 19:52:33 <DesertRose>   I think we ate up all the dressing Mom made because it was so yummy.
Nov 29 19:52:35 <KK>   Shiral, how do you poach your eggs?  I've discovered those nifty silicone thingies that you actually put into boiling water.  Makes good ones.
Nov 29 19:52:40 <jemler>   the turkey drop?
Nov 29 19:52:42 <DesertRose>   Not super salty like Stove Top, but very tasty.
Nov 29 19:52:50 <Shiral>   I love Turkey on Thanksgiving, but by this part of the weekend, I'd kill for a pizza. =o)
Nov 29 19:52:50 <Jerusha>   Yep, Jemler
Nov 29 19:53:07 <EPCarpenter>   I have enough fixings to do another pan of stuffing, probably tomorrow.
Nov 29 19:53:08 <PhoneEvie>   "As God is my witness, I thought turkeys could fly!"
Nov 29 19:53:20 <The_Bee>   wild turkeys can.
Nov 29 19:53:31 <Shiral>   I do it the old fashioned way, KK. Boiling water in  small frying pan, add egg, turn down heat and about 3 minutes later--poached egg
Nov 29 19:53:35 <DesertRose>   KK, I found out via Alton Brown that if you put about a tablespoon of white vinegar in the poaching water, the white of the egg won't get all messed up.
Nov 29 19:53:46 <EPCarpenter>   They can't fly if you drop them from a helicopter.
Nov 29 19:53:50 <NavaWazr>   Oh I will have to try those poaching things! I love poached eggs
Nov 29 19:53:53 <Shiral>   I used the boiling water left over after I've started making my coffee
Nov 29 19:54:11 <Shiral>   I add the white vinegar, but I don't measure it
Nov 29 19:54:15 <jemler>   you poached an egg in coffee?
Nov 29 19:54:17 <Jerusha>   I cheat and use an electric egg cooker
Nov 29 19:54:30 <DesertRose>   It doesn't affect the flavor of the egg; it just keeps the egg white from feathering and looking all weird.
Nov 29 19:54:43 <KK>   I use a slotted spoon to take them out of the water, since water inevitably gets into the pods.
Nov 29 19:54:51 <Shiral>   Francesa's here, taking over from Dmitri. She's purring everyone her seasonal wishes
Nov 29 19:55:03 <DesertRose>   Yes, slotted spoons are definitely a must when extracting poached eggs from the water.
Nov 29 19:55:06 <DesertRose>   Hi Cesca.
Nov 29 19:55:09 <Aerlys>   i have actually heard of people who put an egg in the coffee grounds before brewing
Nov 29 19:55:15 *   DesertRose offers pets to Francesca.
Nov 29 19:55:17 <Jerusha>   Happy Thanksgivint, Francesca
Nov 29 19:55:19 <Shiral>   Yup. A slotted spoon, or my pancake turner. Whichever one I reach first
Nov 29 19:55:34 *   NavaWazr needs to go shopping at a cooking stuff store
Nov 29 19:55:41 <KK>   Wasn't that the eggshells?  Not a coffee drinker, but I seem to remember that from somewhere.
Nov 29 19:55:45 <Shiral>   She's so cute, she drools when she's happy
Nov 29 19:55:58 <EPCarpenter>   Egg Shells in the brew basket.
Nov 29 19:56:05 <DesertRose>   One of my college roommates had a cat who drooled when she was happy.
Nov 29 19:56:07 <jemler>   librarians coming on. last week it wouldn't let me record.
Nov 29 19:56:07 <The_Bee>   yes, KK.  eggshells to settle the coffee grounds.
Nov 29 19:56:14 <DesertRose>   Big fuzzy long-haired odd-eyed white cat.
Nov 29 19:56:31 <KK>   Yes, and Once Upon a Time, Jemler.  So many choices....
Nov 29 19:56:44 <Aerlys>   a friend said it was the egg she used, not the shells. sounds odd to me
Nov 29 19:56:46 <PhoneEvie>   why egg shells?
Nov 29 19:56:48 <The_Bee>   I record just about everything.
Nov 29 19:56:51 <Shiral>   Nope, the coffee grounds are in the coffee filter, I divide the boiling water from my electric kettle between brewing the coffee over there, and the frying pan on the stove.  But the coffee and the eggs never meet
Nov 29 19:56:55 <KK>   So on that note, I must go.  See you all next week at the earlier time of 5 PM.
Nov 29 19:57:12 <DesertRose>   Okay, night, KK.  And yes, early chat next week.
Nov 29 19:57:15 <Jerusha>   Night, KK.  Thanks for being with us!
Nov 29 19:57:16 <Shiral>   Night, KK

Nov 29 19:57:26 <jemler>   until next week. have fun folks.
Nov 29 19:57:26 <EPCarpenter>   We record a lot, and then I wind up not watching it all. I actually watch less TV since I retired, if you can believe that...
Nov 29 19:57:33 <The_Bee>   They settle the grounds if you make coffee in a saucepan.
Nov 29 19:57:39 <PhoneEvie>   Thank you!
Nov 29 19:57:42 <EPCarpenter>   GNight KK!
Nov 29 19:57:44 *   KK steps nto her Portal, waves goodnight, snatches a snickerdoodle, and disappears in a shower of green sparkles.
Nov 29 19:57:48 <The_Bee>   bye KK! thanks for coming.
Nov 29 19:57:48 <DesertRose>   Have a good week!

Nov 29 19:58:00 <PhoneEvie>   Goodnight KK
Nov 29 19:58:02 <jemler>   i'll have to get a cake big enough to jump out of! :)

"If having a soul means being able to feel love, loyalty, and gratitude, then animals are better off than a lot of humans."

James Herriot (James Alfred "Alfie" Wight), when a human client asked him if animals have souls.  (I don't remember in which book the story originally appeared.)
