Camber made the blind jump to a portal based on a reference in a book. So for the more Adept there may be a way to sniff out a portal.

My question is for the average Deryni.
Suppose you live in Philadelphia. (West side, born and raised. )
A friend pops in to visit the old neighbourhood and tells you they now live in Washington D.C., a 125 mile distance.
They want you to visit their home, which has a Transfer Portal. You have a Transfer Portal in your house. Can they Rapport with you and give you the energy signature so you can visit a few days later?

Or for the first trip does someone have to take you through the Portal and then you touch the Portal and learn its signature yourself?
In the training scenarios it seems an escorted trip through is the standard. I am just wondering about a non-visiting method of learning.


And can a signature be written down on paper? As an equation? a chord of music? Camber learned of the Portal from a book reference, but was it more of a "The Portal at location X in the south cubby" sort of reference?

In the world of gaming, I have always ruled that one could learn the signature of a portal from another person who knew it. So yes with Rapport you could learn the address signature of your friends portal in Washington DC.

And as for writing it down. If there was a way to do it, yes it could be written down. Possibly as an equation using standard notations but the math for it doesn't exist.

However, portal locations could be imbeded in psychic seals "readable" by other Deryni.
