Title: Poem: "Of Stories, Oft Repeated"
Post by: DesertRose on April 09, 2018, 10:18:18 AM
I found this poem on a social media site called Pillowfort (it's still in beta, but they're trying to combine the best features of Tumblr and LiveJournal at its best, basically), so I asked the poet's permission to share the poem, since I love it and I thought it would resonate with others here as well.

Of Stories, Oft Repeated

I love the hidden echoes

Where the well-worn stories lie

In crooked, brittle pages

Hide the tales that never die

I've walked these woods forever

I know what lies ahead

But I will walk it once again

And love what I have read

I know all of the heroes

And I greet them like old friends

I'll never really leave them

Though I know their story ends

I love the hidden echoes

Where the well-worn stories lie

In crooked, brittle pages

Hide the tales that never die

I've seen the battles that they fight

I know which blows will fall

But never less, I greet them

Every time I hear their call

Each story is a pebble that,

Worn smooth by rivered eye,

Will comfort me forever

With no worries as to why

I love the hidden echoes

Where the well-worn stories lie

In crooked, brittle pages

Hide the tales that never die

I just found this and I loved it. So true. Like my favorite  stories that I have read over so many times I can practically  recite them but I still  enjoy them each time I read them. I find them very comforting.
