Descendants of Camber MacRorie, Earl of Culdi
Nearly all information given here has been summarized from the 'Codex Derynianus' by Katherine Kurtz and Robert Reginald. Some information is from my reading of the novels of the Deryni Series and I have added a little of my own 'Best Guess' from what I know of this world. In those places I state "best guess'.

++1 Alcime Baron de Courcy in the year 1104, Deryni (Codex page 139)
Born: ?
Parentage is unknown,
Married: Guinimande Lady Dembrun
Children: at least two sons: Oldest son Hereditary Baron de courcy; Jorian de Courcy
Note: As evidenced in Childe Morgan chapter 14 page 110, there are two baronies entitled de Courcy. Lord Aurelien Baron de Courcy and Stanzar(1097-?), who was the oldest son of Michon Baron de Courcy. Michon remained Baron de Courcy until his death on October 30, 1097. Therefore, Lord Aurelien became the Baron in 1097. And Alcime Baron de Courcy in the year 1104 (the execution of Jorian de Courcy). Alcime appears to have a baronial court on the western borders of the kingdom.
Generation unknown +1 Descendants of:
...Alcime, ???de Courcy,...................... ?de Courcy, Bethany, Rhysel, Evaine, Camber.
++1 Older brother de Courcy
++1 Jorian de Courcy Lord, Father, Deryni (Codex page 139)
Born: December 26, 1083 Died: November 11, 1104
Younger son of Alcime Baron de Courcy and Guinimande Lady Dembrun
Ordained priest at Arx Fidei seminary on August 1, 1104
Uncovered as Deryni through merasha tainted wine at his Ordination.
Burned at the stake at Arx Fidei on November 11, 1104
Distant Baronial court.
Estephe de Courcy
Knighted at Rhemuth on Twelfth Night Court, 1095 sponsored by Michon de Courcy
"... a distant cousin of Michon de Courcy, sent by his father for the greater prestige that would accrue from being knighted at Twelfth Night Court rather than in a distant baronial court. It was Michon who presented young Estephe de Courcy, a younger brother carrying the sword and spurs; and it was Michon to whom the king gave the privilege of actually conferring the accolade. ...another secret Deryni... on the western borders of the kingdom." Childe Morgan chapter 14 page 110.
**My best guess is this is the oldest son of a distant Baron De Courcy, and the younger brother accompanying Estephe to his knighting is Jorian de Courcy.
Wow, you have been a very busy lady! ;D
Seeing the de Courcy family reminds me that I once figured out the generations needed to make Lisette de Courcy (Stefan de Varnay's bride from "Maidens of Mayhem" descend from Aurelien (her full birth name was Lisette Aureliene Michonne de Courcy, IIRC), but I don't have her birthdate handy at the moment, and don't think those notes were ever more than a quick jotting down of plausible birth dates on a sticky pad that has been long since tossed away. But I suppose that would make her some sort of fanfic descendant of Camber as well, whatever her connection is to our late Father Jorian.
OK, I'm getting overwhelmed just reading this. I can't imagine compiling this. Kudos galore for all your amazing work. Thanks for putting this together.
Maybe she's Jorian's niece? A brother's daughter? :)
Darn, my lap top screen is not wide enough to read the upper charts properly. If others are having the same difficulty, let me know and I will try squeezing the names closer together. Although that might make it harder to read for everyone else.
Well, if I make my screen print really small it works. Where are my glasses? ;D.
Too fun, these two charts were the easy ones. Wait until you see chart three. And then there are the Haldanes. I had to break that up into three charts to make it legible. And I am just summarizing what was already figured out by KK and Robert. I would love to know what the original author's notes looked like.
Dear Evie, and this goes for anyone else with original fanfiction characters. I will be really happy if you use these charts to help give your characters more history and give them a place in the Deryni Genealogy. That was kind of my original intention; that and I recall Drakensis challenged me to find the link between Alaric and Camber. This is all your fault Drakensis. ;D
I'm glad you are enjoying all this amazing work. I'm sure if you weren't having fun, you wouldn't be continuing on.
So please keep having fun! ;D
I just discovered this in my rereading of Childe Morgan and have added it to my charts.
It was Michon who presented young Estephe de Courcy, a younger brother carrying the sword and spurs; and it was Michon to whom the king gave the privilege of actually conferring the accolade. ...Seisyll Arilan took satisfaction in the knowledge that Estephe, like Michon and himself, was another secret Deryni, and would be a valuable agent on the western borders of the kingdom." Childe Morgan, chapter 14, page 110.
**My best guess is this is the oldest son of a distant Alcime Baron De Courcy, and the younger brother accompanying Estephe to his knighting is very likely Jorian de Courcy.
Do you think I may be right in this?
One way to see if it's likely might be to see if there is a birth date listed for Jorian, then see if he would have been the right age to be a younger brother to a knight who would have turned 18 sometime in the year prior to January 6, 1095.
Assuming that the canonical age for ordination is the same in the Deryniverse, i.e. 23 as the minimum age for priesting, Jorian could not have been born later than 1081, which would make him at least 13 in January 1095. That seems to fit rather neatly.
