Title: KK Chat -- 21 Aug 2011
Post by: DesertRose on August 21, 2011, 10:37:08 PM
[19:09] * KK has joined #deryni_Destinations
[19:09] * Evie says hello and offers you a goblet of Fianna wine
[19:09] <the_Bee> hui kk!
[19:09] <jemler> hi kk
[19:09] <KK> Hello, folks.
[19:09] <DesertRose> Hi KK!
[19:09] <Evie> Oh good, laying the ice cream bowls at the four quarters worked!
[19:10] <KK> The archangels of ice cream.
[19:10] <DesertRose> LOL
[19:10] <Evie> I am sitting here beside my linen under-gown and my nice gray Servant robe. :-)
[19:10] <KK> Excellent. Are they finished?
[19:11] <Evie> I just have the veil and wimple and the hooded capelet thing (the scapular?) to do.
[19:11] <Evie> The robes are.
[19:11] <KK> Very good!
[19:11] <the_Bee> I've just stripped down to comfort clothes: skirt and nightshirt.
[19:11] <Evie> I ordered the cinctures last night
[19:12] <KK> Sounds good.
[19:12] <Evie> and have been deliberating whether or not a two-cord Franciscanknot will work, or if I'll need to improvise with some other sort.  I guess I won't know until I play with it.
[19:12] <jemler> should i be listening to this?
[19:12] <KK> Why not?
[19:12] <Evie> I'm surprised you're not peeking in at windows, jemler.
[19:12] <jemler> women talking about stripping down. you know me! ;P
[19:13] * Evie loads up a catapult with a basket of sardines and lays siege tojemler's head
[19:13] <the_Bee> You're too late to see anything interresting, Jemler.
[19:13] <KK> Well, one does have to stay comfortable in the presence of o9ne's computer.
[19:13] <jemler> Why don't you throw anchovies, Evie? At least them I could put on pizza! :)
[19:13] <KK> Is everyone staying cool?
[19:13] <Evie> I almost decided to show up for chat wearing my robes, eventhough no one could see them, but I figured even with the a/c on, I'd rather not wear two layers of linen.
[19:14] <KK> Probably not necessary.
[19:14] <the_Bee> trying. we had a shower early afternoon.
[19:14] <Evie> I had them on earlier though, to make sure the hem was right
[19:14] <DF64> i could use some pizza
[19:14] <Evie> I could use some pizza without the anchovies
[19:15] <the_Bee> what color cinctures, Evie? Do they have different styles ofcincture?
[19:15] <KK> We had a biiiiig thunderstorm earlier.  Knocked out the powerseveral times, so I shut down until it was past.
[19:15] <Evie> red and blue, Bee
[19:15] <Evie> and I got rope cinctures that have a knot at the ends
[19:15] <jemler> blue for the boys, pink for the girls!
[19:16] <Evie> I love that my notebook computer battery holds a charge forseveral hours, so if a storm comes through, I can usually stay online and just run on battery power.
[19:16] <the_Bee> any significance to the colors--besides jemler's nothion?
[19:16] <jemler> :)
[19:16] * Evie looks to the magistra...erm, author...for the answer to that question
[19:17] <the_Bee> I've sent for a wireless router so I can hopefully use mylaptop online.
[19:17] <KK> As I recall, it was red for Haldane loyalty and blue for....Gabrilite connections?  Can't remember exactly, off the top of my head.
[19:17] <Evie> I know blue is often symbolic for purity as well
[19:17] <the_Bee> and loyalty--"true blue"
[19:18] <jemler> servants of saint camber
[19:18] <Evie> at any rate, I'm sure both colors will look really nice with the gray robes
[19:18] <the_Bee> Nigel's color was blue.
[19:18] <jemler> sorry, trying something on my ipad. TOO MAKY KBDS!
[19:18] <KK> Oh, yes.  That's why cardinals traditionally have blue stones in theirrings--and why many folk use them as stones in engagement rings.  I have a sapphire in mine.
[19:19] <KK> And the Hunting Lodge uses blue stones, for much the same reason.
[19:19] <the_Bee> like the one Kelson gave Araxie.  Was that where you got the idea, KK?
[19:19] <KK> Nope, that association came long before Kelson and Araxie.
[19:20] <the_Bee> I mean is that where you got the idea for Araxie;s betrothal ring.
[19:20] <KK> Probably.
[19:21] <KK> Diana's ring, now Kate's, is a honking big sapphire.  Hopefully, itwill work better for Kate than it did for Diana.
[19:21] <Evie> I happened upon the verbal description in "Camber the Heretic"today of the layout of Rhemuth Castle, and compared it to the map in the RPG.  Itlooks incredibly similar, and what few differences I noticed looked like they couldeasily be ascribed to future expansions between Alroy's time and Donal's, whichmade me curious about during which reign such expansions might have takenplace, or if it might have been a bit-at-a-time thin
[19:21] <the_Bee> I think it will. They've known each other for a while, andWilliam wasn't in love with someone else.
[19:22] <~DesertRose> That's true, Bee, and hi.
[19:22] <jemler> I checked the Zipper Sisters ARchive. No mention of robes, or cinctures.
[19:22] <Evie> Like the passage in CoH mentions a new Great Hall in the samelocation where the map also has a hall, only now that one seems to be the LesserHall, with the Great Hall being closer to the tower that seems the most logical area for the kitchens
[19:23] <Evie> the description is in the Codex, jemler.
[19:23] <jemler> can't reach the Codex.
[19:23] <Evie> in the entry for the Servants of Saint Camber
[19:23] <~DesertRose> I've been away off and on, cooking supper.  In a bit I'llbe going AFK for a while, because I've got company coming over, but I'll still logchat and post it.
[19:23] <Evie> OK, DR
[19:23] <KK> Martine and I worked from the text as much as possible, in laying out the diagrams.  She did a great job!
[19:23] <the_Bee> It's certainly easier for the cooks it the dining hall is not too far from the kitchen.
[19:23] <~DesertRose> Actually, the servers, Bee.
[19:24] <jemler> don't you like cold food, Bee?
[19:24] <~DesertRose> The cooks would be cooking the next remove.  :D
[19:24] <the_Bee> I stand corrected.
[19:24] <~DesertRose> Pages, most likely, or squires.
[19:24] * Dennis (Mibbit@OWIRCN-e4b0805a.ma.comcast.net) has joined#deryni_Destinations
[19:24] <jemler> hi dennis
[19:24] <Evie> Yes, I had fun looking at the map and thinking, "OK, this must bethe large room mentioned in the text that was the former hall, and so this musthave been the large hall in Alroy's time, but centuries have passed since then, so it makes sense the Castle expanded southward...."
[19:24] <~DesertRose> Hi DesertRose.
[19:24] <the_Bee> hi denis
[19:24] <Dennis> Hi!
[19:24] <~DesertRose> Hi Dennis.
[19:24] <~DesertRose> Oops.
[19:24] <DF64> :D
[19:24] <Evie> Hi, Dennis
[19:25] <the_Bee> It's ok to say hello to yourself, DR.
[19:25] <jemler> talking to yourseld DR?
[19:25] <~DesertRose> Apparently.
[19:25] <Dennis> Hi, everyone!
[19:25] <~DesertRose> I used the autocomplete function a moment too soon.
[19:25] <jemler> i only talk to myself when I want to have an intelligent conversation!
[19:25] <DF64> hi dennis
[19:25] <KK> Most dishes didn't depend upon being served very hot, because itwas very hard to keep things hot.  Our house in Ireland originally had the kitchenat the far end of the house, and our ousekeeper told us that meals almost neverwere hot by the time they got to the dining room.  It would have been muchharder in a castle.
[19:26] <the_Bee> When were chafing dishes invented?
[19:26] <jemler> as soon as they ran out of talcum powder!
[19:26] * Evie smacks jemler with a mackerel so often, she's created a macro for it. *thwack!*
[19:26] <Dennis> *rimshop*
[19:26] <jemler> LOL
[19:26] <Dennis> er, *rimshot*
[19:27] * the_Bee hits jemler with a large candle.
[19:27] <~DesertRose> The Typo Fairy is really visiting us today.  :D
[19:27] <KK> I'd guess 18th century or so.
[19:27] <Dennis> I have sudden mental picture of some younger Haldane son inthe XVth or XVIth century sailing across the Atalantic Ocean and returning withcocoa plants to make coffee and chocolate. :)
[19:27] <KK> And that's about when recipes began to go beyond the basics ofjust preventing starvation.
[19:28] <jemler> i guess i couldn't go the whole chat without getting fished! :)
[19:28] <DF64> jemler must really be bruised by now
[19:28] <~DesertRose> You never can, jemler.  If it's not Evie, it's me
[19:28] <~DesertRose> .
[19:28] <jemler> you just yell at me!
[19:28] <Evie> I've built a cod-apult just for you, Jemler
[19:29] <~DesertRose> No, I hit you with fish, too.  :)
[19:29] <~DesertRose> *groan*, Evie.
[19:29] <jemler> just for the halibut, right?
[19:29] <DF64> or a shad-apult
[19:29] <Dennis> That sounds awfully fishy, Evie.
[19:29] * DesertRose slaps DesertRose with a rainbow trout
[19:29] <Evie> I thought something smelt fishy
[19:29] * DesertRose slaps jemler with a rainbow trout
[19:29] <~DesertRose> There.  It's going around.
[19:29] <Dennis> Heh.
[19:29] <Evie> like a virus
[19:29] <~DesertRose> I hit the wrong accursed button again.
[19:30] <DF64> your buttons are evil
[19:30] <jemler> i got hit with a used fish!
[19:30] <~DesertRose> Yup.
[19:30] <KK> I like the rainbow trout!
[19:30] <Dennis> Bishop DeNore do anything foul in the last two weeks?
[19:30] <~DesertRose> I guess I hit myself in the face when I pulled my fishing line out of the water.
[19:30] <Evie> I'm looking at this nifty badge in the RPG and thinking "I will NOTtake on another project before DragonCon!"  :D
[19:30] <jemler> it was pretty tasty, but next time, cook it first!
[19:30] <~DesertRose> You don't like sushi? :P
[19:31] <jemler> is she seeing anybody?
[19:31] <KK> Just exists.  Oh, and he shows up at 12th Night Court afterKenneth's death.  That would be 1101.
[19:31] <~DesertRose> Is who seeing anybody, jemler?
[19:31] <jemler> Sushi. is she seeing anybody?
[19:31] <~DesertRose> Ugh.
[19:31] <Evie> But if I did decide to embroider this nice "Sanctus Camberus SitSemper Vobiscum" badge on a pouch, would the Gwyneddan heralds slap me forputting metal on metal, or will Alaric with his color on color gryphon defend me?   ;-)
[19:31] <~DesertRose> *groan*
[19:31] * BalanceTheEnergies (~chatzilla@OWIRCN-15b5ce69.pools.spcsdns.net) has joined #deryni_Destinations
[19:31] <jemler> LOL
[19:31] <~DesertRose> Hi BalanceTheEnergies.
[19:31] <jemler> hi bte
[19:32] <the_Bee> hi BTE
[19:32] <BalanceTheEnergies> Hello sorry I'm late
[19:32] <Dennis> Hi, BtE.
[19:32] <Evie> so you're up to 1101 in the book now?
[19:32] <KK> Hi, BtE
[19:32] <jemler> you've only missed a lot of bad jokes and a fish fly.
[19:32] <BalanceTheEnergies> Was fixing breakfast and forgot the time.
[19:32] <~DesertRose> It's okay; we're just discussing heraldry and slapping jemler with fish.
[19:32] <DF64> hi bte
[19:32] <Evie> not too much longer until Kelson's birth.  Will that make it intothis book?
[19:32] <Evie> hi, BTE
[19:33] <KK> Heralds probably wouldn't bother you, Evie.  What were you thinking to do?
[19:33] <DF64> slapping jemler over and over
[19:33] <~DesertRose> What's for breakfast?
[19:33] <jemler> FISH!
[19:33] <BalanceTheEnergies> Heraldry?
[19:33] <jemler> FISH!
[19:33] <BalanceTheEnergies> Heraldry? As in Morgan's a rebel because his coat of arms breaks a rule?
[19:33] <~DesertRose> Well, partly, yes.
[19:33] <KK> Yes.  I'm glossing over the next couple of years, until Brion takesAlaric off to Bremagne to find a bride.
[19:33] <BalanceTheEnergies> Steamed potatoes, green beans and almonds, andpollock.
[19:33] <Evie> There's a badge on the dedication page of the RPG with whatlooks like a Haldane lion on a cross, inside a circle bordered  in black, with"Sanctus Camberus Sit Semper Vobiscum" around it
[19:33] <Evie> but it's all in grayscale
[19:34] <DF64> it looks like Tripoli has fallen to the Libyan rebels
[19:34] <~DesertRose> Evie found a badge that appears to break the rules of heraldry.
[19:34] <Evie> I'm guessing it's a red field in a black bordure, but it looks like ithas a gold lion on a white or silver cross on the red field
[19:34] <~DesertRose> Good on the rebels.
[19:34] <BalanceTheEnergies> Well, Morgan's is colour on colour too.
[19:34] <~DesertRose> I told her to just outline the cross in red (gules) and that solves the metal on metal heraldry problem.
[19:34] <KK> If it's a badge, it's probably all meta., like a Scottish clanbadge--unless they used proper heraldic hatching to designate colors.
[19:34] <Dennis> I have a weird question.
[19:35] <KK> Yay, Libyan rebels!
[19:35] <the_Bee> I was watching the reports earlier.  yay rebels, but I hopeKhaddafi's men will lay down their arms, not keep fighting.
[19:35] <Evie> well, the cross is on red, so it's the charge on top of that (the lion) that would need some sort of outline
[19:35] <DF64> they seem to be melting away from the rebels
[19:35] <Dennis> Do we know what the Princes Nimur and Torval were trying to do when they melted their brains?
[19:35] <~DesertRose> Oh, I thought the cross was over the lion.
[19:35] <~DesertRose> I think I got it backwards.
[19:36] <~DesertRose> Outline the lion in red, if he's over the cross.
[19:36] <Evie> Part of the lion is on the cross, and part hangs off it on the redfield
[19:36] <~DesertRose> Ah.  Well, outline the part of the lion that's over thecross in red.
[19:36] <Evie> yes, I could do that. Or for that matter, in black.
[19:36] <~DesertRose> Yeah, that would work too.
[19:36] <BalanceTheEnergies> That's countercharging, and I think it's OK in heraldry.
[19:36] <DF64> Gadhafi's still on the loose, but still defiant
[19:37] <Evie> I have a purring kitteh shedding orange hair on my Servant robes
[19:37] <~DesertRose> LOL
[19:37] <jemler> USA Today says the rebels released 300 prisoners.
[19:37] <Evie> you should have seen him "helping" me sew last night.
[19:37] <~DesertRose> Good on the Libyan rebels.  Gaddafi has needed deposing for a while.
[19:38] <KK> This will be very interesting.  I hope they capture him and mete out their own justice, so that no one from outside needs to intervene.
[19:38] <DF64> when Gadhafi's caught, maybe jemler can smack him with fish
[19:38] <the_Bee> What network are you watching, DF64?
[19:38] <KK> I have an adult orange cat shedding on my lap.
[19:38] <DF64> yahoo
[19:38] <BalanceTheEnergies> Yes, and I hope they don't end up exchanging anold tyranny for a new one.
[19:38] <Evie> Luke is purring like a coffee grinder
[19:39] <jemler> magic cat coffee?
[19:39] <DF64> only time will tell bte
[19:39] <BalanceTheEnergies> True.
[19:40] <jemler> i'd rather give him aham sandwich
[19:40] <~DesertRose> Nicholas is in your lap, KK?
[19:41] <KK> Gus.
[19:41] <~DesertRose> Ah, okay.  :)
[19:42] <KK> He's gotten very needy, the past few weeks.  Much lap time.
[19:42] <the_Bee> any idea why?
[19:42] <Evie> Because it's there?
[19:42] <DF64> gus loves his KK
[19:43] <~DesertRose> I like lap cats.
[19:43] <~DesertRose> My beloved Cyrano was a lap cat.
[19:43] <the_Bee> me too
[19:43] <Evie> Luke's been moved off my lap so much this weekend while I washemming that he's settled for sitting beside me...but he's still lying on my robes!  *sigh*
[19:43] <~DesertRose> Tessa is something of a lap cat, especially if you have food.
[19:44] <Evie> Luke is a lap cat. Gigi is a lap cat if she feels like it, but she won'tstay if you try to get her on your lap.
[19:44] <~DesertRose> She's also a shed monster; I've never seen a cat shedthe way that cat does.
[19:44] <BalanceTheEnergies> Morshi has given me a massage, and now Wimsey is on my lap.
[19:44] <Evie> Luke will do anything and put up
[19:44] <Evie> Luke will do anything and put up with anything for attention, though.
[19:44] <~DesertRose> LOL, silly Luke.
[19:45] <the_Bee> Melantha will climb up, but doesn't like to be picked up.
[19:45] <Evie> he's the most bombproof cat I've ever seen
[19:45] <~DesertRose> KK, do you think Gus feels okay?  Has anything changed around the house?
[19:45] <Festil> Hi KK!
[19:45] <BalanceTheEnergies> hello Festil
[19:46] <Festil> Hi there
[19:46] <the_Bee> hi festil
[19:46] <Festil> Hey you!
[19:46] <Evie> wb festil
[19:46] <Festil> ty Evie
[19:46] <DF64> hi festil
[19:47] <BalanceTheEnergies> brb
[19:47] <Festil> hullo
[19:48] <KK> Gus is fine.  I think this may have something to do with the presence of so many dogs.
[19:48] <Festil> DR: Yeah, Gaddafi's comically inept, as dictators go.
[19:50] <KK> I've got Fox News on in the background.  Interesting developments.
[19:50] <the_Bee> He was ept enough to hold on for several decades, though.
[19:50] <KK> Like, 40 years!  I think the end is in sight, though.
[19:51] <Dennis> I'm quite frankly shocked that he's lived that long.
[19:51] <KK> Yeah, he's a tenacious one.
[19:52] * DF64 (Mibbit@F8E647.70AEDE.7CC163.21D203) Quit ( Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client )
[19:52] <jemler> i'm on cnn
[19:52] <Dennis> Well, let's hope the transition of power is relatlively bloodless.
[19:53] * DF64 (Mibbit@F8E647.70AEDE.7CC163.21D203) has joined #deryni_Destinations
[19:53] <Evie> wb DF
[19:53] <DF64> darn computer
[19:54] <BalanceTheEnergies> I sympathize DF. My browser quit three times last night.
[19:54] <jemler> they say they've caught 2 of ghadafis sons
[19:54] <DF64> it froze up
[19:55] * Evie stepped away from computer, returned, saw something abouthoping the transition of power is relatively bloodless, wondered what sort ofDeryni ritual was being discussed, then scrolled up and realized we're discussingGaddafi.  :D
[19:55] <DF64> very big news
[19:55] <jemler> Gadhafi or your frozen pc?
[19:56] <Evie> LOL! I don't think he means the pc, jemler. :D
[19:56] <DF64> my computer pales in comparison
[19:56] <jemler> to each his own
[19:58] <KK> It should be very interesting in the next few weeks, to see if theycan turn things in the right directions.
[19:58] <Evie> let's hope
[19:58] <Dennis> Well, Evie, we can hope the transfer of power from Liam to the next King of Torenth is bloodless, and sometime in the 1170s or 1180s. :D
[19:59] <DF64> :)
[19:59] <Evie> Yes, I hope for that too. especially if he won't be married andbreeding heirs until Eirian  is older.
[19:59] <the_Bee> I hope the US will be wise enough not to over-meddle.
[19:59] <jemler> that we know of, he may still decide to sow his Royal oats!
[19:59] <BalanceTheEnergies> Before I forget KK, I've been meaning to ask youwhat drove Donal to go to the lengths he did for Brion's triggering ritual. Iunderstand Brion had it easier for Kelson, what with Morgan being grown and afunctioning mage, and I recall that he didn't know about the CC, so they couldn't help him...
[19:59] <the_Bee> with libya, not torenth
[20:00] <Evie> I'm fairly confident the US won't meddle with the Torenthisuccession, Bee. ;-)
[20:00] <jemler> Saif and Saadi Gadhafi captured
[20:00] <Dennis> Yeah. As soon as Khadaffi's done, NATO needs to pull back andlet the Libyans (and maybe the UN) take care of what comes next.
[20:01] <KK> Donal had been through a lot, and had...interesting associations with Deryni.
[20:01] <Dennis> I'm not, Evie. We've been doing a lot of meddling since WWII.
[20:01] <Evie> But very little has been in the Eleven Kingdoms, Dennis. :D
[20:01] <Dennis> Did Malcolm also have Deryni at court, or is that something you haven't really worked out?
[20:01] <Dennis> So far. :)
[20:02] <Evie> If the US has diplomatic relations with Gwynedd, can I be sent to Rhemuth as an ambassador?  I'll take any excuse. :D
[20:02] <Dennis> Hmm... "interesting associations." Is that what Donal and Jessamy called it? :D
[20:02] * Alkari (Mibbit@8EC4D7.96B13C.1B1855.36F731) has joined#deryni_Destinations
[20:02] <BalanceTheEnergies> I wondered if perhaps pushy anti-Deryni clerics had been casting aspersions on the Haldane powers
[20:02] <DF64> any excuse to meet Duncan
[20:02] <Evie> LOL, Dennis
[20:03] <DF64> hi alkari
[20:03] <Alkari> Hi all,  hello KK
[20:03] <KK> One has to wonder whether there are Deryni in America in the future.
[20:03] <Evie> you got it, DF. ;-)
[20:03] <Evie> Of course we ar...there are, KK.
[20:03] * Evie smiles and looks innocent
[20:03] <Dennis> Buzz Aldrin is Deryni. That's how we got to the moon. And he's descended from Rhysel. :)
[20:04] <KK> Tee-hee.
[20:04] <Alkari> lol - soyou DID run away with that bishop, Evie  ;)
[20:04] <Evie> How do you think I got his portrait, Alkari? ;-)
[20:05] <DF64> Kate Middleton is related to Araxie
[20:05] <Alkari> And William or Harry to the illegitimate Conall side?
[20:06] <Evie> I've been having fun with computer art, KK...taking photos ofpeople I think might resemble certain characters and running them through someartistic filters to give them "painting" or "sketch"-like qualities.
[20:06] <Dennis> Dunno if you saw this one, KK, but I was wondering if MalcolmHaldane also had Deryni at court, or is that something you haven't really workedout?
[20:07] <Alkari> I may disappear for a bit in a moment ...
[20:07] <Evie> Seisyll Arilan had been around for a while, hadn't he, or did hecome in after Donal was King?
[20:07] <Evie> and Jessamy was already at Court before Donal became King, IIRC
[20:08] <Evie> he was still married to Dulchesse when Jessamy first came toCourt, I think, since wasn't she the one who insisted Sief wait until she was 14 before consummating the marriage?
[20:08] <Evie> though Malcolm might not have known she was Deryni
[20:08] <Dennis> Yes. That's right. Jessamy was at court as far back as 1050 orso, right after The Green Tower, no.
[20:09] <Evie> though if her father had just blown up part of Coroth Castle byaccident, you'd think the King might suspect, maybe....  :-)
[20:10] <Evie> "It just done blowed up, Sire.  We got no clue how."  :D

[20:10] <BalanceTheEnergies> lightning strike?
[20:10] <DF64> hi shiral
[20:10] <jemler> hi shiral
[20:10] <Evie> "Did you invent gunpowder, or have Deryni been doing unwise experiments again?"
[20:10] <the_Bee>  hi shiral
[20:10] <Evie> Hi, Shiral!
[20:10] * Shiral appears ina  poof of steam
[20:10] <Shiral> HI all
[20:11] <KK> Malcolm probably had a few Deryni around him. And Seissyl and Donal are exact contemporaries.
[20:11] <jemler> he learned how to make it from some guy from Connecticut
[20:11] <Shiral> Hi KK
[20:11] <KK> Hi, Shiral.
[20:11] <Dennis> On the other hand, Malcolm could simply have reacted with,"I've been cleaning up this bloody country since Killingford and I'm tired of it. Idon't want to know how it happened and I'll expect the bloody Duke of bloody Corwyn to bloody well clean up after himself."
[20:12] <Evie> Shiral, your photos of Carcassonne (I nearly typed Concaradine!
[20:12] <Evie> Shiral, your photos of Carcassonne (I nearly typed Concaradine!)inspired me to find a nice one online to use as my new computer wallpaper atwork.  :-)
[20:12] * Alkari (Mibbit@8EC4D7.96B13C.1B1855.36F731) Quit ( Quit:http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client )
[20:12] <Shiral> Glad they're being put to good use, Evie

[20:12] <Dennis> Hello again.
[20:12] <Alkari> ONly a short time here - have to stop off at hosiptal on way towork  :9
[20:12] <Shiral> I have a photo of Toulouse on my work desktop and another of Chenonceau on my laptop
[20:13] <Alkari> ooh - nice scenery
[20:13] <jemler> Alkari, i know it's a womans prerogative to change her mind, but there is a speed limit!
[20:13] <Evie> actually, I used a public domain wallpaper for my computer, butsince you're here, would you mind if I borrow one of your pics (maybe the Basilica one?) for a bit of photo-manip art?  I'd credit you for the photo.
[20:13] <the_Bee> new stage of treatment, Alkari?
[20:13] <Shiral> Don't mind at all, help yourself
[20:13] <Alkari> No, just the ongoing effects of the radiotherapy burns.  Theykeep developing for a while after treatment ends, and I need 'something' else on them.
[20:13] <Evie> I'd be doing something similar to it as what I did to the ones I put in the Gallery this week.
[20:14] <Shiral> Wondering if maybe there are chateaux down in Bremagne builtlike a bridge over a  river, not that I'd ever hint. =o)
[20:14] <Evie> LOL
[20:14] <Evie> No, never. ;-)
[20:14] <Alkari> Set your next fic down there, Shiral?  ;)(
[20:14] <Shiral> Chenonceau is really incredibly beautiful
[20:15] <KK> Shiral, have you now posted all your photos?
[20:15] <Shiral> Most of them yes, KK
[20:15] <Shiral> Except for the reject pile
[20:15] <KK> Cool!  You really have gotten some astonishing images!
[20:15] <Alkari> I was looking at the lovely gardens and cloisters
[20:16] <Shiral> Actually Alkari, Richelle in Meara has been poking me. She finds heaven perhaps a little...more rustic than the Ile d'Orsal or Rhemuth
[20:16] <Evie> LOL
[20:16] <Shiral> Or perhaps it's her maid who's complaining....
[20:16] <DF64> :)
[20:17] <Evie> Hopefully her new hubby is making up for what's lacking in the scenery
[20:17] <Alkari> lol @ Richelle
[20:17] <Shiral> Some of the places we went you can hardly take a bad picture KK. Unless you insist on photographing your own shoes
[20:17] <Alkari> I guess she will be pressing for regular trips to Rhemuth
[20:17] <Evie> "I'd like to visit my sister."  "AGAIN?"
[20:18] <jemler> Just build a Transfer Portal!
[20:18] <Alkari> Evie has theminstalled all over the Kingdom by now  ;)
[20:18] <Shiral> But perhaps  she finds that a long unoccupied house really needssome cleaning and expansion.  "SOme of these rushes in the great hall must have been here in King Brion's Reign!"
[20:19] <Alkari> Its what's UNDER the rushes that is ...
[20:19] <Shiral> "Oh Brecon darling... can we winter down in Cloome.....PLEASE??"
[20:19] <Alkari> "Where is that fire hose when you need it?"
[20:19] <KK> I would think that a new Portal is a distinct possibility.  After all,we tend to forget that Richelle is as Deryni as Araxie.
[20:19] <Evie> LOL!  I do not, really.  And remember, I calculated--based on theguess that Gwynedd's population might have been similar to MedievalEngland's--that even 40 or 50 TPs in the entire Kingdom would have been quite a reasonable number back in the day,at least before the persecutions.
[20:19] <Shiral> Well yes, she is. Although one needs to be taught how to buildone, n'estce pas?
[20:19] <Alkari> And I assume they get ones in Coroth a.s.a.p. and in Marley in due course
[20:19] <Dennis> Poor Richelle. The forgotten Haldane.
[20:20] <Shiral> And you need a few buddies along with you..
[20:20] <jemler> I wonder if Kelson would awaken Richelle's Haldane potential?
[20:20] <Evie> so adding two or three to an entire kingdom is hardly unreasonable, in that context. :D
[20:20] <Shiral> I'm wondering if the Morgan children might come running to Papa one day exclaiming they've found a room with a "tingly floor."
[20:21] <DF64> :D
[20:21] <KK> Well, I gotta go.  I have a husband looking wistfully (and hungrily)into the office and obviously hoping for food.
[20:21] <Shiral> Awww..... =o(
[20:21] <DF64> men!!
[20:21] <Dennis> I found something amusing/disturbing in Codex II. If it's to be believed, Murdoch is descended from the Haldanes.
[20:21] <Shiral> Give him some kibble?
[20:21] <Evie> "Dear, the kitchen is back over there."
[20:21] <Dennis> Bye, KK! Happy writing!
[20:22] <Evie> bye, KK!
[20:22] <Shiral> I'll read the chat log, I guess....
[20:22] <the_Bee> nighters, KK good eating and good writing
[20:22] <Evie> ack, Dennis!
[20:22] <BalanceTheEnergies> Good night KK, and thanks.
[20:22] * jemler hums the Campbells Soup Theme
[20:22] <DF64> bye KK
[20:22] <jemler> nite kk
[20:22] <Shiral> Hope all is going well with Da Book KK?
[20:23] <Evie> she's killed everyone
[20:23] <KK> Very well, Shiral.
[20:23] <jemler> well folks. i'm outta here. until next week.
[20:23] <Shiral> EVERYONE????? =o)
[20:23] <Evie> it's saved her writing a CM4. ;-)
[20:23] <Shiral> Bye Jemler
[20:23] <the_Bee> bye jemler
[20:24] <Evie> bye jemler
[20:24] * KK steps onto her Portal, waves goodnight, and disappears in a showerof green sparkles.
[20:24] <Dennis> Have a good week, Jemler!
[20:24] <jemler> i'll try. nite all
[20:24] <KK> Nighters.
[20:24] <BalanceTheEnergies> bye jemler
