[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:18:50 PM] <Alkari> or his Jeep! There's a lovely TV ad at present for Jeep, where Santa is lazing back with his feet up and a nice drink, and Mrs Santa asks if he has finished all his rounds. He says yes, and when she says HOw - have you been everywhere? He says Yes - he bought a Jeep!!
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:19:00 PM] <DesertRose> Okay, thanks.

[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:19:40 PM] <KK> There will be more, never fear.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:19:41 PM] <DesertRose> Well, lord willin and the crik don't rise, KK will keep writing, yes?

[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:20:24 PM] <Jared> I've been readin' ye for 42 years, m'lady. As long as the eyes hold out, I'll keep going.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:20:31 PM] <KK> I've already pitched the general gist of the Killingford book to my agent, with promise to send detailed proposal after the holidays.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:20:35 PM] <DesertRose> Oh, good.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:20:38 PM] <Jemler> learn braille
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:20:42 PM] * DesertRose dances for joy.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:20:44 PM] <Jared> Heeheehee
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:20:45 PM] <Evie> yay!
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:20:59 PM] <DesertRose> Although joy may not be the right emotion with the content of Killingford. :P
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:21:02 PM] <KK> Monday went brilliantly, and I am thoroughly enjoying my new vision.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:21:05 PM] <DesertRose> Oh yay!
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:21:05 PM] <Laurna> LOVE IT
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:21:12 PM] <Jared> Well, there is that.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:21:16 PM] <The_Bee> Cheers!
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:21:16 PM] <Jemler> congrats!
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:21:19 PM] <NavaWazr> (will buy stock in Kleenex as I know the sales will rise tremendously when Killingford is released)
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:21:23 PM] <DesertRose> :D
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:21:24 PM] <Jared> Ah, did you have cataract surgery?
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:21:28 PM] <cynicalmedic> Good news!

[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:21:33 PM] <DesertRose> WB, Alkari.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:21:34 PM] <KK> Muscles are still a little sore, but it's better every day. I doubt I've ever seen this well.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:21:34 PM] <Jemler> wb alkari
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:21:37 PM] <The_Bee> rehi Alkari
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:21:44 PM] <DesertRose> Yay for being able to see!
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:21:47 PM] <Alkari> Thanks - not a thunderstorm this time!
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:21:56 PM] <DesertRose> Mibbit's probably just being stupid.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:21:58 PM] <Alkari> Hi there KK
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:22:03 PM] * DesertRose gives Mibbit a good swift kick.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:22:04 PM] <Evie> I'm dying to read the official version of Killingford, especially since there's a fanfictional version unfolding in the forum's Fanfic section right now, so it will be really interesting to see how they are similar and how they are wildly different.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:22:07 PM] <Jared> That's great to hear. The opthamologist says I'll need it in about 10 years
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:22:10 PM] <Laurna> Any double vission?
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:22:33 PM] <Alkari> What did you have done KK - missed your arrival!
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:22:38 PM] <Jemler> yea, i just saw 2 esses in vision! :)
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:22:44 PM] <Evie> So will you still need glasses? Or just a milder prescription?
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:22:47 PM] <Jared> LOL
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:22:47 PM] <Laurna> hehe
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:22:48 PM] <KK> Did the cataracts in September and October, and the muscle surgery to correct the double vision last Monday. Brilliant outcomes on all fronts.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:22:50 PM] * DesertRose pops Jemler with a goldfish.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:22:57 PM] <Jared> Glad to hear!
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:23:08 PM] <Jemler> lobster! i'm famous now! :)
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:23:09 PM] <Alkari> Yay - now you can see all the Christmas sparkles properly :)
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:23:09 PM] <DesertRose> KK, do you need glasses still at all?
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:23:14 PM] <KK> No glasses except for reading, and even that has improved from what it was.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:23:18 PM] <DesertRose> Oh excellent.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:23:29 PM] <Evie> Wonderful!
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:23:29 PM] <Alkari> That's great news
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:23:32 PM] <The_Bee> I still need glasses.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:23:37 PM] <Laurna> Good
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:23:41 PM] * DesertRose dips lobster in butter and catapults it at Jemler.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:23:55 PM] <KK> The cataract surgery corrected the distance vision and the astigmatism--toric lenses implanted.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:23:56 PM] <Laurna> Sticky
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:23:59 PM] <Jemler> ah, respect.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:24:06 PM] <Jared> Lobster? Butter? All Tanya and I had was ravioli.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:24:30 PM] <DesertRose> My mom said she wished she'd had her cataracts corrected years before she did, never mind they wouldn't do it any sooner because the cataracts themselves weren't that bad.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:24:43 PM] <Jared> My aunt said the same thing.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:24:43 PM] <DesertRose> But her vision kind of sucked until the cataract surgery.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:25:06 PM] <DesertRose> She used to wear Coke-bottle lenses, and now she only needs glasses for reading and messing with the computer.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:25:18 PM] <KK> Apparently current thinking has shifted away from waiting until cataracts are "ripe." Now, it's whether they're seriously affecting one's vision.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:25:37 PM] <DesertRose> It's been a few years since Mom had hers done but not more than 5 or 6, I don't think.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:25:39 PM] <Jared> So far, I only have a bit of filminess -- nothing that really affects anything.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:26:08 PM] <Jared> Mind you, it was startling to hear "Oh, by the way, you have cataracts" for the first time.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:26:21 PM] Join Alkari_again has joined this channel (Mibbit@OWIRCN-bb580512.internode.on.net).
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:26:31 PM] <Laurna> Re hi Alkari
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:26:32 PM] <The_Bee> rehi Alkari
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:26:34 PM] <Evie> wb Alkari
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:26:36 PM] <KK> But you'll be amazed at how bright the world really is, once you have them done. It's an insidious thing, that develops slowly, so that you don't really notice it that much--until they're gone.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:26:57 PM] <The_Bee> I know what you mean.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:26:58 PM] <DesertRose> Poor Alkari.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:27:02 PM] <DesertRose> Drat Mibbit anyway.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:27:20 PM] <Jared> Well, since my new wife is as much a book-hoarder as my first, and I've never slowed down, I need my eyes.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:27:31 PM] <The_Bee> Alkari, which is you and which is your evil twin?
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:27:33 PM] <DesertRose> Yeah, I hear that.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:27:38 PM] <Alkari_again> Yes - you tend put it down to just 'I'm not as young as I used to be!' and ignore it
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:27:48 PM] <Jared> Yep.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:28:27 PM] <Laurna> Eyesight is definitely worsening with age.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:28:32 PM] Quit Alkari has left this server (Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client).
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:28:36 PM] <DesertRose> Well, because I am a little short on cash right now, I've placed a hold on TKD at my local library and they'll email me when I can haz. :D
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:28:57 PM] <DesertRose> So I can at least read it, even if I can't buy my own copy yet.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:29:02 PM] <cynicalmedic> I've worn glasses since third grade.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:29:04 PM] <Jemler> i always act my age. but i'm a guy, so i never aged beyond 12! :)
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:29:13 PM] <DesertRose> I've worn them since I was just shy of 18.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:29:20 PM] <Jared> Excellent! I won't post any spoilers, but I'm enjoying it immensely.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:29:32 PM] <Laurna> 12? a bit too young don't you think.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:29:34 PM] <DesertRose> Oh, wow, I've been wearing glasses for 21 years this month. Yikes!
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:29:52 PM] <Jemler> 41 years, since i was 10.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:29:57 PM] <Evie> Yes, I have several questions that will need to wait until everyone has had a chance to catch up on their reading
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:30:03 PM] <Jared> DR, I've worn them off and on since 12 -- at 60, I need them a bit more.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:30:34 PM] <DesertRose> I didn't need mine full time right at first, but I needed them for reading, computer work, close work, and driving in poor visibility (like night time or in the rain).
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:30:34 PM] <Alkari_again> Hmm _ have bene wearing them for ... 46?!
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:30:53 PM] <The_Bee> I've been wearing glasses for 65 years.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:30:55 PM] <Jared> Jemler -- I think I made it past twelve, but I'm not so sure.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:31:06 PM] <Alkari_again> I now actually don't need them for reading, and tend to take them off.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:31:29 PM] <Jemler> remember: growing in mandatory. growing up is optional.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:31:29 PM] <DesertRose> The thing was, I was a college student at the time, so I did a lot of reading and computer work, and shortly after I turned 18, I started driving delivery for Pizza Hut so I was driving in poor visibility a lot.

[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:31:46 PM] <DF64> 12hi all
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:31:46 PM] <DesertRose> It got to the point where I needed them so often it was just easier not to take them off, and now I need them full time.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:31:47 PM] <Evie> hi DF
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:31:47 PM] <The_Bee> Hi DF64
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:31:49 PM] <DesertRose> Hi DF64.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:31:54 PM] <Alkari_again> Hello DF
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:31:56 PM] <cynicalmedic> Hi DF
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:32:14 PM] <Jared> My wife is an artist, and wears contacts, but is beginning to think about additional glasses for really close work.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:32:38 PM] <NavaWazr> I've only been wearing glasses for 44 years, mostly contacts these days
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:32:47 PM] <Laurna> Hi DF
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:32:48 PM] <DesertRose> I tried contacts, but a) they're expensive for my prescription (or they were when I tried), and b) they irritated my eyes a lot of the time.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:33:02 PM] <DF64> 12i've been wearing glasses for almost 8 years
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:33:04 PM] <Evie> when I wore contacts (multifocals), I still used reading classes for very close work on small-detailed items, like painting miniatures or reading the ridiculously small text on medicine labels
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:33:09 PM] <Alkari_again> I can't handle the fiddly fine things these days
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:33:17 PM] <The_Bee> I had problems with irritation when I wore contact too
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:33:31 PM] <DesertRose> My eyes are super touchy and I live in allergy hell.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:33:37 PM] <Alkari_again> I tried them, but I can't wear the ones you can leave in for ages, so I just decided glasses were simpler
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:33:46 PM] <DesertRose> Florida is nice a lot of the time, but allergy season can really suck.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:33:49 PM] <NavaWazr> I've been struggling with the Codex, so it is time for new reading glasses or a large magnifying glass.... hmmm... might need to tell Santa about a large magnifying glass with a tooled leather handle...
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:33:59 PM] <KK> I wore contacts successfully for about 20 years, but about the time I was thinking about soft lenses was when we discovered the double vision; couldn't get as good a correction with the soft lenses. But I'd never worn glasses to read. And contacts were never good with the computer..
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:34:00 PM] <DesertRose> LOL, NavaWazr
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:34:05 PM] <Alkari_again> And as I get allergies too, glasses are better
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:34:43 PM] <DesertRose> Now that I'm doing SCA stuff again, I might get contacts to wear to events. They are way less period than glasses but way less noticeable. :P
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:34:46 PM] <Evie> My contacts were quite expensive, but then again, so are my glasses, and if I hadn't needed new glasses I would have been able to afford the contacts more easily, just because I can afford to get them six months at a time, whereas I can't get half a pair of glasses at a time, and the glasses cost a little more than a full year of the contacts.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:34:55 PM] <DesertRose> Ouch.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:35:43 PM] <DesertRose> I'd have to go back to my optometrist and get a contacts exam, though, which would be a) a pain and b) have to come out of pocket because my insurance won't cover two exams so close together.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:36:15 PM] <Jared> I haven't been playing with the SCA much since I moved to Kentucky from Caid, but my new wife is getting interested, and she's inherited some garments from the daughter of a dear friend who passed away a while ago, and wants a chance to wear them.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:36:20 PM] <Evie> but now that I've got these glasses, next year when my insurance will pay for vision care again, I'll get contact lenses for daily wear again, and save the glasses for nights and weekends to give my eyes a chance to rest from the contacts.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:36:23 PM] <DesertRose> But not wearing my glasses is not an option because I get killer headaches without them.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:36:29 PM] <The_Bee> My contacts came with a "crying towel" listing all the suggestions for finding a lost contact. Then it said, "If you still can't find them, use this towel and have a good cry.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:36:39 PM] <Jared> LOL!
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:36:42 PM] <Laurna> I ware contacts. that is why I like reading on the Kindle. I can make the print large. To read the book I have to wait until I take my contacts off.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:36:45 PM] <DF64> 12:D
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:36:48 PM] <KK> My old glasses were running around $600, last time I checked. Fortunately, the surgeon who did this latest surgery said that he hated wasting money, and hated for his patients to waste money; so I soldiered on until I now no longer need those expensive glasses. And fortunately, readers are quite inexpensive.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:36:54 PM] <Alkari_again> good one, Bee!
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:36:59 PM] <DesertRose> That's cute, Bee.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:37:28 PM] <Alkari_again> I have seen so many surgeons these last three years thast I don't want to go anywhere near another one at present!!
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:37:35 PM] <Jared> BTW, Katherine -- you'd recognize these gowns -- Jeannie gave my new bride several of Catriona's
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:38:00 PM] <DesertRose> Ouch, KK.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:38:17 PM] <DesertRose> My current pair of glasses (which I ordered on zennioptical.com) cost me around $35.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:38:22 PM] <Alkari_again> Glasses + nice frames + $$$$$
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:38:32 PM] <Jared> Luckily, the VA pays for my glasses.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:38:44 PM] <DesertRose> Yeah, the frames have always been the expensive part.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:38:53 PM] <KK> Cool, DR!
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:39:01 PM] <Evie> Jared, if you live anywhere near the northern TN area and make it to the Meridien events up there, there's a chance I might see you at one sometime. I'm in central Alabama, but have a close friend in Clarksville, TN, and know several people in their local SCA group
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:39:22 PM] <Alkari_again> I need multi focals and correction for astigmatism, which means the lenses are much more expensive
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:39:27 PM] <DesertRose> And I have clip-on sunglasses that match, plus a spare pair of the clip-ons.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:39:35 PM] <DesertRose> Yeah, I don't need multi-focals yet.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:39:43 PM] <Evie> Not for me, DR. I have to have ridiculously expensive lenses because I need multifocals and ultrathins
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:39:48 PM] <DesertRose> I have an astigmatism and I'm near-sighted.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:40:16 PM] <KK> Boy, I have so been there!
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:40:20 PM] <Jared> Evie, I'm in middle Kentucky, but we have friends trying to get us down to Iron Mountain, which is where most of my family lives
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:40:25 PM] <DF64> 12i have astigmatism and far-sighted
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:40:54 PM] <Evie> Really? I used to be Baroness of Iron Mountain waaaay back when! I still live in that area, though I belong to the neighboring shire now.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:41:01 PM] <DesertRose> I really had a good experience with Zenni. I've had exactly two problems with them, and one is silly.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:41:02 PM] <cynicalmedic> I get mine checked every three months because of my diabetes.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:41:07 PM] <Jared> the Forge?
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:41:14 PM] <Evie> Yes!
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:41:15 PM] <Jemler> i can't see anything i have my eyes closed!
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:41:21 PM] <DesertRose> The silly problem is that I got the email that my glasses had shipped after I actually got the glasses themselves.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:41:31 PM] <Evie> I'm one of the founding members of Shire des Forges
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:41:32 PM] <Jared> Richard, Macha and Helen are all good friends of mine.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:41:36 PM] <cynicalmedic> Covers Jemler with a crab trap
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:42:00 PM] <KK> What was the other problem, DR?
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:42:00 PM] <Evie> It was originally Vulcan's Forge, but we couldn't get the name passed.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:42:00 PM] <DesertRose> The other is that the screws that hold the lenses in have tried to come unscrewed once each. I've been able to screw them back in and I may have my stepdad super-glue them in place.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:42:08 PM] <Alkari_again> And if the old frames are OK, I often get new lenses fitted in them.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:42:12 PM] <DF64> 12are jemler's eyes ever open?
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:42:20 PM] <DesertRose> Because I can't see to do something that fiddly without my glasses on. :)
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:42:32 PM] <Jared> I know, Evie -- I tried multiple excuses to get that past heralds for them.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:42:39 PM] <Alkari_again> It's the rimless ones which are really expensive though! For such a little bit of 'frame', they cost an awful lot. :(
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:42:39 PM] <Jemler> it's my mouth that never shuts! :)
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:42:45 PM] <DesertRose> I did that the last time I got a new prescription, put them in my old frames.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:42:49 PM] <KK> I thought about that for some of my readers. The screws do tend to work themselves loose.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:42:50 PM] <Laurna> Only when he is ducking flying fish.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:43:08 PM] <DesertRose> But my old frames had given up the ghost pretty much by the time I got this new prescription, so I got new frames this go-round.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:43:19 PM] <Evie> Ah, were you a herald when we were trying to get that through?
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:43:23 PM] <KK> Yeah, I have to put on readers so that I can fix the screws in other readers.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:43:27 PM] Quit Alkari_again has left this server (Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client).
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:43:52 PM] <DesertRose> Darn Mibbit.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:43:54 PM] <NavaWazr> I alternate the frames every year or two, put the new lenses in the frame from two years ago
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:43:59 PM] <cynicalmedic> Boy, Mibbit has it in for Alkali
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:44:07 PM] <DesertRose> Yes, it seems to today.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:44:07 PM] <NavaWazr> I love the clip on sunglasses
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:44:14 PM] <KK> We're talking about reading glasses, of course; not you guys. ;-)
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:44:19 PM] <Evie> Vulcan is a local landmark, so we were pretty keen on getting Vulcan's Forge through (the whole "Forge" reference was a nod to the Vulcan statue overlooking Birmingham), but alas, that was not to be.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:44:19 PM] <DesertRose> I do too. Clip-on shades are awesome.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:44:28 PM] <DF64> 12mibbit had it for me which is why i wasn't on for a while
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:44:41 PM] <The_Bee> The frame on my reading glasses is broken, and I haven't found another the right size and shape.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:44:51 PM] <Evie> thanks for clarifying, KK. For a moment I thought of some grim Torenthi torture. ;)
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:45:10 PM] <cynicalmedic> I haven't been here for a while, either.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:45:18 PM] <DesertRose> Although it wouldn't surprise me to find that we all have a few screws loose, LOL.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:45:20 PM] <Laurna> It still could be Evie
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:45:26 PM] <KK> Tee-hee. You never know, with this bunch.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:45:29 PM] <DesertRose> ROFL
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:45:40 PM] <Evie> Oh, I can assure you that we do! LOL
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:45:57 PM] <DesertRose> Creative and intelligent people usually are a little quirky at least. :D
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:46:21 PM] <Jemler> only a few?
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:46:21 PM] <Evie> We may have one or two of those here.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:46:24 PM] <DesertRose> :D
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:46:27 PM] <DesertRose> BRB, need tea.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:47:12 PM] <Laurna> hmm tea... Shiral is not here. no Ice cream and cookies.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:47:21 PM] <Evie> I have candied ginger, but that's not the same
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:47:34 PM] Quit Jared has left this server (Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client).
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:47:36 PM] <KK> She must be working tonight.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:48:15 PM] <The_Bee> I wonder if the rain hit her part of California. From drought to floods.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:48:17 PM] <Laurna> I put up a fresh Christmas tree today. I was thinking how I was missing the cookies.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:48:20 PM] <NavaWazr> (passes tray with cups of eggnog to the group)
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:48:28 PM] <Evie> Luke just walked across me but didn't stop. Who are you and what have you done to my cat?
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:48:38 PM] <DF64> 12hi luke
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:48:46 PM] <NavaWazr> we had our holiday gathering last night, so today is leftovers
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:49:07 PM] <KK> Eggnog is good.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:49:20 PM] <Laurna> Eggnog would be good right now too.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:50:02 PM] <Evie> My husband grew up with Farm Stores eggnog in Miami, and now he's on a constant search for eggnog that tastes as close to that brand as he can find
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:50:04 PM] <Jemler> eggnog works. thank you.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:50:05 PM] <Laurna> However I need to stay awake to read another few chapters.

[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:51:03 PM] <Evie> welcome home then, so to speak
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:51:17 PM] <EPCarpenter> Great for me too!
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:51:25 PM] <DesertRose> Hi EPCarpenter.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:51:39 PM] <Evie> I heard he got to meet Scott too, not just Scott's sleeping form or departing back. ;-)
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:51:57 PM] <EPCarpenter> Scott seems like a kindred spirit
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:51:57 PM] <KK> That's true.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:52:36 PM] <Evie> How did the littles like the con, or did you change your mind on taking them?

[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:53:39 PM] <Evie> wb Alkari
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:53:46 PM] <The_Bee> hello again, Alkari3
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:53:48 PM] <KK> And Scott took wonderful care of me last Monday, getting up at 0500 to drive me to the hospital, cooling his heels in the waiting room, pushing me around in wheelchairs between the surgery and followup appointment in the afternoon.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:53:52 PM] <Alkari3> Thanks - I logged out and completely restarted things
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:54:08 PM] <DesertRose> Wb, Alkari3.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:54:11 PM] <KK> The littles were a big hit at the reading and then after, with other friends.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:54:33 PM] <Laurna> That is fun KK
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:55:11 PM] <Evie> I'm working on miniature thrones now

[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:55:43 PM] <Jemler> do they flush?
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:55:55 PM] <Evie> I'm going to lobster you, jemler
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:55:58 PM] * DesertRose throws a live lobster at Jemler.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:56:07 PM] <DF64> 12JEMLER!!
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:56:11 PM] <Laurna> Catapult full of mackerel.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:56:12 PM] * The_Bee swats Jemler with an octopus.

[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:56:20 PM] <DesertRose> Hi again, Alkari.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:56:27 PM] <DF64> 12and again
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:56:28 PM] <Jemler> i'm famous.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:56:29 PM] <Laurna> You just lost your better status Jemler
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:56:30 PM] <KK> Oh, cool. I found a miniature table at the local Goodwill--actually a wrought iron plant stand with a mosaic top. One of these days, in my copious spare time, I'll pose some of my littles with it and take a picture.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:56:36 PM] <Alkari> If I vanich again I will call it quits! I think Mibbit has it in for me today
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:56:49 PM] * Evie passes Alkari some duct tape
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:56:50 PM] <EPCarpenter> I have finally admitted my age to myself. If Kate Upton on a warhorse in a white gown with a broadsword can't rope me into online gaming, I have officially aged out the target market.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:57:01 PM] <Evie> LOL!
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:57:06 PM] <DesertRose> I tried a good swift kick to Mibbit, but that seems to have made it angrier.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:57:17 PM] <Alkari> Kate Upton on a warhorse?!

[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:58:54 PM] <Jemler> did the cart have a guy in a red suit?

[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:59:32 PM] <Laurna> Oh dear Alkari...
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:59:43 PM] <KK> I think it's that you have to be a gamer.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [07:59:56 PM] <EPCarpenter> I wasn't taken in either, another sign of encroaching age... <sigh...>
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:00:04 PM] <Jemler> i'm game if she is! :)
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:00:09 PM] * Jemler ducks
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:00:12 PM] <DesertRose> I usually just wait for my body to tell me my age.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:00:37 PM] * DesertRose loads a trebuchet with swordfish and points it threateningly at Jemler.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:00:46 PM] <Laurna> lol
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:00:55 PM] <Evie> yeah, sort of me trying to find actors who are the right age and look to play Alaric and Duncan in a DR movie, and then realizing that they're young enough to inspire in me a great desire...to feed them milk and cookies, and that's it. :-D
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:01:02 PM] <Jemler> so much for the lobster.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:01:05 PM] <EPCarpenter> I don't accept collect calls from my body on that subject. ;-)
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:01:06 PM] <DesertRose> I wanted to go out to SCA fighter practice today but a) the weather is crap and b) I ache because of said crap weather.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:01:08 PM] <KK> Scott and I took our dogs to the Subaru dealer's yesterday to have their pics taken with Santa (they do that every year), but I didn't make them wear antlers--though Warner did try on the pair we have, that used to belong to Oswald of happy memory.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:01:21 PM] <DesertRose> Oh, I bet those are cute pics, KK.

[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:01:50 PM] <DesertRose> The vet clinic my family uses has Santa Paws pictures. I think Santa Paws will be at the vet on Saturday. :D
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:02:01 PM] <KK> I'll post this year's pic when we get it back.

[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:02:35 PM] <Evie> I need to put up a room for the mini-Deryni so they can have an anachronistic Christmas Tree.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:02:35 PM] <Laurna> The pics would be nice to see KK
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:02:39 PM] <DesertRose> That would be great.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:02:46 PM] <DesertRose> LOL
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:02:49 PM] <Evie> I already have a fully decorated mini-tree for them, just not a background for it
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:02:54 PM] <cynicalmedic> We had to put our sixteen year old Lab to sleep last week. He's the only one that liked pictures with Santa.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:03:00 PM] <Jemler> mibbit really has it in for alkari.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:03:02 PM] <DesertRose> Poor Alkari. Mibbit had it in for her, and it seems to have it in for DF too.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:03:07 PM] <DesertRose> Aw, cynicalmedic, I'm sorry.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:03:11 PM] <Laurna> Oh sorry CM
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:03:22 PM] <KK> Awwww, so sorry to hear that, CM. But 16 is good innings for a lab....
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:03:29 PM] <Evie> Sorry to hear that, CM. Some SCA friends of ours had to do the same thing this past week too. :(
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:03:37 PM] Join Jared has joined this channel (Mibbit@OWIRCN-c1c4a0df.ip.windstream.net).
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:03:43 PM] <Evie> re-hi Jared
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:03:51 PM] <Laurna> Hi Jared.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:03:57 PM] <DesertRose> My mom thinks she's going to take the cats for pics with Santa Paws. I'm thinking that neither PJ nor Merlin will put up with it.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:04:00 PM] <cynicalmedic> We adopted him when he was 10 months old. He had a good long life.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:04:01 PM] <DesertRose> Rehi Jared.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:04:01 PM] <Jared> Hi there -- my computer had a few connection issues
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:04:17 PM] <DesertRose> That is a good long life, but I'm still sorry you had to have him put down.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:04:42 PM] <Jemler> a friend had to do that recently.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:04:50 PM] <EPCarpenter> Does Mibbet boot the slowest connection?
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:04:50 PM] <cynicalmedic> It hurt, but it was the right thing to do.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:04:58 PM] <Jared> May I ask what the last thing you saw from me? I wasn't sure who was seeing me.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:05:00 PM] <DesertRose> I don't know what Mibbit's problem is.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:05:18 PM] <The_Bee> My sister and her husband put their dog down a few years ago.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:05:37 PM] <Jared> My ex-wife had to put down the dog we adopted 16 years ago.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:05:42 PM] <Jared> Just in October
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:05:48 PM] <DesertRose> bynw was at one point trying to find a more reliable browser-based chat client but I don't know where that stands.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:06:05 PM] <Jemler> i use mirc.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:06:23 PM] <Evie> Jared, you were saying you had tried to get the heralds to pass Vulcan's Forge, or somethinig like that? adn then silence until you got booted by the server
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:06:26 PM] <DesertRose> I use Konversation, but we need to have a browser-based client available for people who can'
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:06:36 PM] <DesertRose> can't/don't want to download a separate client.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:06:45 PM] <cynicalmedic> Delphi is pretty good - forums, and chat, too.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:06:59 PM] <The_Bee> I used to use mirc, but now I come in via the website.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:07:01 PM] <Jared> Weird, Evie -- yes, I was doing research for Helen while I was still in Caid.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:07:03 PM] <KK> I used to use mIrc, but Mibbit has been mostly ok for me.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:07:25 PM] <DesertRose> Mibbit is usually okay but sometimes it's temperamental.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:07:35 PM] <Jared> I was finally elevated to full Pursuivant shortly before I left Caid
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:07:35 PM] <Jemler> like tonight.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:07:44 PM] <DesertRose> As tonight, when it kept booting Alkari and booted DF.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:07:45 PM] <Evie> speaking of chat, before you entered the room, KK, we were wondering if about two hours earlier on Sundays might work with your schedule or not, since that would allow some of our UK people to participate who can't stay awake past midnight, yet be late enough to let people in Alkari's timezone chat too
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:07:47 PM] <Laurna> I use whatever the forum send me to. As long as I can get to chat from there I am good.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:07:51 PM] <Jemler> who were you persuing?
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:07:59 PM] <DesertRose> The forum uses Mibbit.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:08:05 PM] <Jared> In my case, I'm just in an area with poor internet service.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:08:57 PM] <The_Bee> How would two hours earlier work for the west coast folks?
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:09:07 PM] <DesertRose> bynw had me help him test an alternate browser-based chat client that we liked although it was not as full-featured as Mibbit, but it was a little baby program still in beta, so it wasn't that reliable yet.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:09:13 PM] <KK> Mmmm, might be able to push it to 6PM rather than 7, but can't guarantee I'd always be back from whatever else was going on on Sunday afternoon.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:09:18 PM] <Laurna> IT would be tough I have to admit.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:09:47 PM] <Jared> I've been meaning to get here for months, but life kept getting hectic
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:09:57 PM] <DesertRose> It happens, Jared.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:10:00 PM] <EPCarpenter> Sounds familiar...
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:10:40 PM] <Laurna> That is the trouble Sunday afternoons are usually filled with family and friends.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:10:43 PM] <Evie> Jared, do you happen to remember why "Vulcan's Forge" didn't pass? All I remember was something like a Roman god's name couldn't be used with an English location, although we hadn't specified it had to be in England, and would probably have been open to resubmitting the name in whatever translation would have been accepted. Not that we'd seek to change it at this late date, but just curious.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:10:47 PM] <Jemler> life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans - john lennon
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:11:10 PM] <The_Bee> KK, your schedule is the most important, though we've been known to chat without you. ;)
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:11:43 PM] <Jared> Evie, what I was told was that the Society herald at the time was the one with the big issue against it.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:11:56 PM] <KK> I was going to say, all of you are free to chat whenever you like; it's just that I'm not sure I'll always be able to be here by 6.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:11:56 PM] <EPCarpenter> My copy of TKD showed up yesterday morning in the mail.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:11:57 PM] <Evie> OK, KK. Just wondering because I know of at least three people who are active on the forum who would try to make it to chats if they were earlier, but a midnight chat doesn't work for them because they have to wake up early the next day
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:11:57 PM] <DesertRose> Well, we all show up and wait for KK, but none of us have taken a vow of silence. :)
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:12:17 PM] <Jared> I know there were rulings by that SCA Herald that have been overturned since then.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:12:24 PM] <Laurna> Besides it would be hard to change the time now that it is officially in print. LOL
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:12:25 PM] <DesertRose> So yes, we chat even when she can't make it.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:13:10 PM] <bynw> you are always free to come whenever you can or like KK :) just dont know who will be here (used to be always Wrengl and my mom hanging out and chatting)
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:13:11 PM] <DesertRose> Well, let's just leave it at 7, because I don't think one hour is going to make enough of a difference for the UK/Europe people.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:13:24 PM] <Jemler> The Celtic god of the forge was Litavis http://www.joellessacredgrove.com/Celtic/deitiesl-m.html
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:13:26 PM] <Evie> My personal device wouldn't pass when I created it 20+ years ago, but the rules disallowing my main charge (a cross pattee alisee) have evidently been discarded lately, so I may try again.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:13:44 PM] <DesertRose> And if KK doesn't think she can consistently make an earlier time, I think it's better to leave it alone.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:14:03 PM] <KK> And since it <is> in print now, that it's at 7....
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:14:07 PM] <NavaWazr> how about a once a month earlier chat for a month or two?
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:14:07 PM] <DesertRose> Yup.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:14:08 PM] <EPCarpenter> You dabble in Heraldry Evie?
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:14:16 PM] <Jemler> i can't tell time anyway.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:14:26 PM] <Jared> Ah, my "Sable, on an annulet vert, fimbriated argent, overall a sword fesswise, pointing to sinister Or" was passed, um in 1974?
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:14:29 PM] <Evie> Yes, I know we can chat at any time. But KK is the one they really want to meet, so that's why I asked. :)
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:14:39 PM] <Evie> I dabble a little bit, EPC
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:14:44 PM] <DesertRose> I have to redraw my submission but the herald I talked to at fall coronation said it should pass unless it conflicts with somene else's device.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:14:57 PM] <Evie> Oh yeah, forgot it was in print now. :D
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:15:01 PM] <DesertRose> But I drew it as a lozenge, and apparently now you have to submit it as a shield regardless.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:15:05 PM] <KK> Maybe we could try to make it earlier on, say, the first Sunday of the month....
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:15:15 PM] <EPCarpenter> Me too. Member of ACH. Might be assuming some this coming year. Not the cheapest game in town...
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:15:28 PM] <DesertRose> That would be cool, KK, if you could swing once a month for the UK/European fans.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:15:29 PM] <Jemler> i log in a 6pm est and wait.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:15:36 PM] <Jared> DesertRose -- they stopped using lozenges a while ago.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:15:57 PM] <DesertRose> Yeah, I went inactive for a while (mainly due to not having the money to go to events) and I missed the memo. :)
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:15:58 PM] <KK> Real heralds still use lozenges.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:16:00 PM] <Evie> Oh, that might work, KK!
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:16:10 PM] <Laurna> I usually sign in early too.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:16:18 PM] <EPCarpenter> In the real rules of Heraldry, ladies MUST display their charge on a lozenge.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:16:35 PM] <Jared> Heeheehee. Well, let's face it, sometimes the SCA gets a little TOO creative.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:16:37 PM] <DesertRose> I tend to sign in WAY early and do other stuff until the window starts blinking and chiming.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:16:38 PM] <Jemler> the librarians starts tonight.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:16:52 PM] <The_Bee> I'm recording it
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:16:53 PM] <EPCarpenter> Unless they are the holders of a landed title as a woman.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:17:03 PM] <Jemler> i'll get it at 10.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:17:07 PM] <KK> OK, shall we try that starting on Jan. 4th? (Evie or someone, please remind me!)
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:17:16 PM] <DesertRose> That sounds like a great idea, KK.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:17:18 PM] <KK> What time is The Librarians?
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:17:30 PM] <DesertRose> 6pm on 4 January? Or earlier?
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:17:33 PM] <Jemler> in ohio 8 with a repeat at 10
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:17:37 PM] <The_Bee> Okay by me. I'll have to remember.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:18:00 PM] <EPCarpenter> Good here
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:18:01 PM] <DesertRose> I'll put it on RC.com.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:18:04 PM] <KK> Aw, heck, let's make it 5, if it's only once a month.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:18:17 PM] <DesertRose> Okay, 5pm Eastern it is, first Sundays. :)
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:18:18 PM] <Evie> I don't recall the formal way to describe my device but it's something like "per pale gules and sable, a cross patee alisee or, and in chief or, crusilly (or a seme of cross crosslets) sable."
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:18:22 PM] <cynicalmedic> I'll try to remember. It will depend on call volume.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:18:42 PM] <Jared> It sounds pretty, Evie
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:18:43 PM] <Jemler> i'll make a note.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:18:46 PM] <Evie> Starting on January 4? OK, I'll put a note on my calendar
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:19:09 PM] <EPCarpenter> If you go to the American College of Heraldry website you can get the exact charge verbiage Evie.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:19:31 PM] <Evie> and for those who forget and show up at 7:00 on first Sundays, some of us will probably still be around shooting the breeze
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:20:28 PM] <KK> OK, we'll give it a try. And someone, please let our UK folk know that it's happening.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:20:49 PM] <Evie> I couldn't get that device passed for years because for some obscure reason a cross pattee alisee wasn't allowed even though it's documented to period. But now I'm told the rules have changed and it is allowed now
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:20:58 PM] <Laurna> It would be nice to talk to annie and revanne on chat
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:20:59 PM] <DesertRose> I just put it on the news section on the main page of the message board.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:21:10 PM] <KK> What is alisee, Evie?
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:21:10 PM] <Evie> we can put a thread up on the Forum mentioning it
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:21:13 PM] <The_Bee> Thanks, DR
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:21:34 PM] <Evie> It's a rounded version of the cross pattee
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:21:46 PM] <DesertRose> I'll put up a message thread too, but I figured the news might be a good place to put it.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:21:57 PM] <KK> And they wouldn't approve it? Silly heralds!
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:22:28 PM] <Evie> I think I sent you a picture of it a few years back, KK, before DragonCon, and Scott looked at it and said it looked nice and he couldn't see why it wouldn't pass
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:22:56 PM] <Laurna> KK did I mention yet that I do like the way the art work on the shields came out. Like the backgrounds and the coloring.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:23:12 PM] <The_Bee> Do you have a pic on-line now, Evie?
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:23:16 PM] <EPCarpenter> I've delayed my ACH register of new arms for a while because I've been pursuing an interesting line of research in my family tree. I may be able to prove ancestry to a man who went to Jerusalem in the Crusades. If it works out as I hope, I'll be adding a Jerusalem Cross to my proposed arms.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:23:37 PM] <KK> OK,, on that note, folks, I think I'll boogie for tonight. See you next week (or maybe not, since I think we're making a quick trip down to Fla. to see my dad)--or barring that, the following week. Ta-ta for now.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:23:40 PM] <Evie> but the justification at the time was that it was documented in decorative arts but apparently not seen in period heraldry, or at least was only mentioned in one heraldic source that dated to Victorian times, and therefore was distrusted by whoever it was that decided not to allow it.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:23:43 PM] <Jared> Katherine, the SCA went through a period when we had a rather, um, conservative, chief herald who wouldn't even let me pass along "Blaydeaux" to my SCA foster son because there isn't a period referent for that spelling
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:23:55 PM] <Jemler> nite kk.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:23:59 PM] <Jared> Good night, Katherine -- say hi to Scott for me.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:24:01 PM] <DesertRose> Okay, see you next week, KK?
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:24:06 PM] <Laurna> Have a good week KK
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:24:14 PM] <The_Bee> Nighters, KK. Thanks for coming.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:24:15 PM] <EPCarpenter> GNight KK
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:24:16 PM] <cynicalmedic> Night, KK!
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:24:19 PM] <Evie> goodnight, KK
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:24:25 PM] <Jemler> tell your dad merry christmas!
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:24:25 PM] <DesertRose> Night, KK!
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:24:26 PM] <KK> Nighters to all.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:24:37 PM] <DesertRose> Have a good week (or fortnight, as the case may be)!
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:24:48 PM] * KK steps onto her Portal, waves goodnight, and disappears in a shower of green sparkles.
[Sunday, December 07, 2014] [08:24:55 PM] Quit KK has left this server (Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client).
