Honestly, bynw you are worse than Feyd and I am liking you not  at all.
If the rescuers don'T hurry, bynw will have killed Wash which  appears to be what he wants, especially  after his last post.

The Scholar wiped the splashed wine with a cloth. Careful not to get any of the wine on his lips as he did so. "It doesn't work on contact. It must be either ingested which is less painful than the alternative. We will be leaving soon, helping you earlier and then fending off the others was a bit tiring. But I have rested enough to make our next jump from here."

(( <bynw> see if Feyd got a very mild dose of his own drug (1-4 no, 5-yes powers disrupted for 2 hours, limited mobility. 6-yes powers disrupted for 4 hours, limited mobility)
<bynw> !roll 1d6
<derynibot> 2 == 2 ))

Edited with the roll

I think Feyd needs to roll to see if the drug in the wine has entered his body through his mucus membrane, since he got an eyeful of the stuff! (Not to mention anything that might have splashed into his nostrils or if he happened to get any into his mouth while instinctively flinching from the sudden drenching.)

Oh my goodness, Laurna.  Washburn's frustration and misery are almost palpable.  We  must find a way to rescue him.

I never liked Feyd to begin with, but now...grrrr.

All is darkness, but for a faint glaze of light from above. All is cold, all is damp. Wash’s body starts with a small shiver in his hands and slowly overtime, his whole body reacts to the reduced effects of the drug on his frozen muscles.  Washburn succeeds in blinking, where before his eyes had been frozen open. He had seen everything. He had known terror when he could not move, could not react. All his training had been about reacting, swift and fast to threats. He had been able to do Nothing in defense. Nothing as he was dragged onto a Portal he could not feel. Nothing to stop the Scholar from placing controls over his mind. Nothing to stop the binding of his hands before him to the binding of his feet. To be tossed into this dark cellar, to be laughed at, and told he was going to make the Scholar a rich man.  The scholar let it be known that he was to be taken to a man he would only name as GDV. A man who hated the Morgans, more than he hated any other thing in this life. That this GDV would likely torture him and cause him to do all sorts of evil, before Wash was ultimately killed. But the Scholar did not care what became of his prisoner. He was just in it for the money, he repeated this several times. And the money was good, really good. Too bad his adversary had not been a better challenge. He had expected so much more out of a Morgan before he was caught.

The unconsciousness after that was a small blessing. But it was always short lived. Each time Wash awoke his eyes would be staring, dry and crusty, at the light above his head.  The pain in his mind kept him from thinking too hard. Then he would fall asleep again.

This time he could blink. An amazing feeling, just to actually cry and clear the crust from his dry eyes.  And to shiver, an uncontrollable shiver. But it was movement, it was something. Over the next hour Wash tried to concentrate on muscles and tried to make them obey his commands.  He finally managed to turn enough to lift up his head to see a plate of cheese and a cup of wine. He savored the thought of quenching his hunger for a long while. But when finally when he could move enough to sit up, he stalled his own hand from reaching for the wine. Surely it was drugged. The scholar would not want him moving. If he was able to get the wine himself, than he would need to be dowsed again with the drug.  It took conscious effort to not take the cheese or the wine. Yet it nagged at him. Finally he kicked the wine goblet away and let the contents spill to the floor.

Wash hugged his tied hands over his upturned knees and tried to think.  He had his sword still, why he could not guess, it was bound down tightly in its sheath with many tight knots. He had his Camber medal, but he could not sense its power. Briefly he pulled it before him, let it shine in the dull light. He concentrated on the face of Saint Camber. It was nothing but cold silver in his hands. He cupped it between his palms. His palms so cold it did not warm the silver. He whispered a prayer to the saint for a long while. Then he heard a noise behind him and he quickly shoved the Camber medal back into his tunic.

“You don’t like my offering of food? You will need your strength where you are going. Can't have you dying of hunger and thirst,”  his captive said as he came around to stand before Wash. Wash could not see his features as the hand-fire came down between them and blinded him tell he looked away.

“I’m such a tease, aren’t I. Showing you drink you dare not drink. It doesn’t matter, you know. I have this, if you choose not to drink.” The scholar opened his palm to show the old styled drug pricker. “Your choice.” He then stepped back to the goblet picked it up and poured more wine in it.  Then placed it a foot in front of Wash, before taking a step back. "Go thirsty or not, you are helpless to stop me from drugging you again, either way."

Wash looked at the wine longingly, he leaned forward and picked up the goblet in shaking hands.  He held the wine toward his lips, but then at the last moment, he tossed the wine into the air before him toward the light. The scholar’s face was close behind the light, but Wash did not think on that, only on hitting the light.

((Disadvantage 1d6 roll with a hero point
Success on 5,6. splashing the wine in the scholar’s face. Rolled a 6, Verification Number: 4tmpjxm9dk  HAHA  and that gives me a new Hero point))

Wine splattered across and through the silver hand fire. Some of it splattered on the scholar's face, even as the man quickly backed away.

Wash then tried to tell his body to leap at the distracted man. But suddenly his muscles froze again. His body would not do such a thing. He could not will it to attack this man. Only the fact he had tried to hit the light and not the man, had allowed him his one success.

edited the name Valarian to GDV.

I do believe that Healers can cure the symptoms, they can control antibodies, histamines and cell damage, They just can not remove the bacteria or virus from the cells directly. However, if the Healer understands the process, they should be able to stimulate the patient's own immune system to help fight the disease and reduce its effects.

I think modern-day Healers would be able to do these things. Medieval era Healers, though, would be limited by what they are able to visualize, and in an age before high power magnification and germ theory, they wouldn't even know what to visualize to do these particular things, although things like bone-setting or wound healing would be second-nature to a fully trained medieval Healer.  Even something like midwifery would be possible, since even though the emerging baby might be unseen, enough can be felt and visualized using the physical and psychic senses, once they're attuned to what to look for, to help with turning the baby the right way using Deryni powers.

I agree with Evie.  Medieval Healers would have been able to treat the symptoms, and might even have been able to give the patient's immune system a boost, since they could visualize the body in a state of health and lend energy to restoring the body to that state, as well as being able to induce a particularly restful sleep state, and it is widely recognized by modern medical science that sleep/rest are very important for immune system function and recovery from illnesses and injuries.

But in the canon timeline, well before the invention of microscopes and the development of germ theory, actually curing a disease (like, the flu or a cold or bubonic plague or whatever) wouldn't be possible even for a Healer; the best they'd be able to manage would be treatment of the symptoms and supportive care like Healer's sleep (and less esoteric types of supportive care, like hydration and healthful food).

The Legends of Camber of Culdi / Re: Camber MacRorie
« Last post by DesertRose on Today at 01:28:16 pm »
While Joram earns his keep as Camber's morality chain, there is another consideration; as Haldane heir, it is Cinhil's duty to be king. Camber has already been through Cinhil's situation, having to give up becoming a priest after his elder brother dies; it is unlikely that he saw any reason to consult Cinhil - after all Camber wasn't consulted!
And of course, Camber has had 2-3 decades to consider the implications of his fate; it may not have occurred to him that Cinhil would need some time to process the decisions that Camber now considered instinctive.

I think also that Camber would have known in his younger years, even when he was in seminary, that there was a chance he might end up becoming the heir to Culdi.  With Cinhil, though, I'm not sure he even fully believed he was the last Haldane heir until Rhys and Camber sneaked him out of the abbey and pretty much force-fed him that information.  So while Seminarian!Camber would probably not have given much conscious thought to someday becoming Earl of Culdi, he would have known somewhere in the back of his head that there was a non-zero possibility of that event occurring, whereas Cinhil probably never once thought he'd be King of Gwynedd until it was about to happen in the ensuing few months.

So yeah, Cinhil got a decidedly truncated period of time in which to adjust to a huge change of status that he likely never expected to happen at all.
