[17:51] *** Joins: KK
[17:51] <Sedina> Hi Katherine
[17:51] <Shiral> Hello Katherine
[17:51] <virtualbabe> Hi KK
[17:51] <Kiri`> hi Katherine!
[17:51] <scribbler> wow -- I timed that right!
[17:51] <Bynw> Hiyas Katherine!
[17:51] <scribbler> hi KK...
[17:51] <the_Bee> hello KK
[17:51] <Kendall> hey KK
[17:51] <Shiral> Perfectly, Scribs
[17:51] <Jessie> Hello Katherine
[17:51] *** Bynw sets mode: +o KK
[17:51] <scribbler> well, just got home from grocery shopping....
[17:51] <Mak> Hi scribbler
[17:51] <KK> Hello, all.
[17:52] <Kendall> oh, hi scribs
[17:52] <Mak> Hi Katherine
[17:52] <virtualbabe> so how was your week katherine?
[17:52] <scribbler> sorry I missed chat last week -- was working on a MAJOR project for school...
[17:52] <KK> Not too bad, other than having a good friend pass away on Wednesday.
[17:52] <Shiral> We've been talking about Currency
[17:52] <Shiral> Oh no =o(
[17:52] <Jessie> huggles Katherine -- sorry
[17:52] * virtualbabe passes her sympathies along
[17:52] <Sedina> Sorry to hear about that, Katherine.  *huggles*
[17:52] <Kiri`> Katherine - oh i'm sorry to hear that.
[17:52] <scribbler> awww...sorry to hear that, KK...
[17:53] <KK> Yeah, we'll miss him.
[17:53] <Kiri`> I hope it was a peaceful passing.
[17:53] <Kelric> well.  unfortunately for me it's time for me to split.
[17:53] <Bynw> :(
[17:53] <Mak> Sorry to hear that
[17:53] <Shiral> Bye Kelric
[17:53] <Sedina> Bye, Kelric
[17:53] <KK> Bye, Kelric.
[17:53] <Mak> Bye Kelric
[17:53] *** Quits: Kelric (QUIT: Leaving)
[17:53] <Shiral> Very sorry for your loss, Katherine
[17:53] <KK> Scott finished his story, though, and it's a beaut!  I'm just finishing editing--so I can't stay long.
[17:53] <the_Bee> sympathies to you and your friend's family, Katherine
[17:53] <Shiral> Sorry, you can't go, the chat room doors are barred <G>
[17:54] <KK> Yeah, well it was a blood clot that broke loose.  Probably was quick.
[17:54] <Jessie> how did writing go this week?
[17:54] * scribbler sets a Trap on KK's Portal so she can't leave....
[17:54] <KK> Anyway, I also broke the back of my own story, and will be able to finish it later tonight or tomorrow.
[17:55] <virtualbabe> and then back to King's service?
[17:55] <KK> Then I can ship off the rest of the anthology.  My editor absolutely has to have it by Wednesday.
[17:55] <Kendall> yea
[17:55] <KK> And <then> back to The King's Service--at last!
[17:55] <Shiral> The Templars put up quite a struggle for you this time
[17:56] <KK> You would not believe how my story has fought me.  But I've finally got the right handle on it.  Some stories do fight.
[17:56] <scribbler> The King will be VERRA glad to have you back in Service, KK....
[17:56] <Shiral> And so will we
[17:56] * the_Bee passes out tea, pepsi and ale to toast the templars
[17:56] <virtualbabe> I remember how you described your attempts to write the meeting between Derry and Alaric
[17:57] <KK> Anyway, I am <really> chuffed about Scott's story.  Even if he weren't my sweetie, I'd think it was a good one.  :-)
[17:57] <Bynw> LOL
[17:57] <Shiral> Congratulations to Scott <G>
[17:57] <Kendall> I liked what I read of The King's Service in Saint Patrick's Gargoyle paperback edition
[17:57] <Shiral> He's pleased his editor and his sweetie in one fell swoop <G>
[17:57] <virtualbabe> I did too, only there was not enough!!!!!<giggle>
[17:57] <KK> It's called Stella Maris, and it starts on a submarine during WW I.  :-)
[17:57] <duck> now he can wipe the sweat off his brow
[17:57] <Bynw> Now Scott can work on book 3 for the Knights of the Blood right Katherine! :-)
[17:57] * scribbler still needs to find SPG....
[17:58] <KK> Now he can take another nap.  Though, as I told him after I'd read it the first time, his napping time has been well-spent!
[17:58] <Jessie> :-)
[17:58] <Sedina> :)
[17:58] <Kendall> I found a spot in the bookstore and read it standing up, since I already have the hardback edition
[17:58] <Shiral> And a certain envelope arrived at my place on Thursday
[17:58] <KK> Npw he can resume work on <several> writing projects.
[17:58] <scribbler> I wish my napping time was so productive...I'm still having trouble tackling my group project topic....
[17:58] <Shiral> I now have THREE copies of Saint Patrick's Gargoyle =o)
[17:59] * scribbler is green with envy....
[17:59] <Shiral> I wanted to read that teaser in the comfort of my own home with a cuppa tea to go with it
[17:59] <KK> Shiral, another package will be arriving toward the end of the week or beginning of the following.  Ace has bound galleys for all the contributors.
[17:59] <Kendall> speaking of envy, what is the currency in Gwynedd called?
[17:59] * Shiral faints with joy
[17:59] <virtualbabe> I've got two.  I bought the HC with a gift certificate I got from amazon for my b-day last year
[17:59] <Bynw> omg enjoy Shiral
[17:59] * scribbler may have to waylay the postal carrier....
[17:59] <KK> I never bothered to decide that.  Suggestions?
[18:00] <Kendall> lol at Scribs
[18:00] <Kendall> do they use gold or silvers
[18:00] <virtualbabe> Crowns?
[18:00] <KK> Meanwhile, I have a proposition for all of you.
[18:00] <Shiral> Sorry, he's a under my protection, Scribbler
[18:00] <the_Bee> what's welsh for "royal"?
[18:00] * Kelos_al-Hazar listens to KK intently
[18:00] <Shiral> We're listening, KK
[18:00] * virtualbabe listens intently to KK's proposition
[18:00] <Kendall> yes?
[18:00] <scribbler> Uh-oh -- better warn my husband I'm being propositioned here....
[18:01] <KK> Because any Codex II is on indefinite hold, waiting for a new mass market publisher, I'd like to do a Supplement to Codex I, to cover just KKB.
[18:01] <Kendall> and?
[18:01] * Kiri` likes that idea
[18:01] <KK> I thought we would make it a publication of Deryni Archives, and I'd hope that you guys can all contribute.
[18:01] <Kendall> yes
[18:01] <KK> I'll need a general editor or two....
[18:01] <virtualbabe> A little bit of the codex is better then none
[18:01] <Kendall> good idea
[18:01] <Sedina> that's a good idea, Katherine
[18:01] <scribbler> Would it also be possible to reissue Codex I as well (for those of us Codex-deprived folk)?
[18:01] * Kiri` will help if she's needed
[18:01] <Mak> G
[18:02] <Mak> Sounds good to me
[18:02] <Kelos_al-Hazar> I could be an editor as needed also, and would be honored.
[18:02] <KK> I don't think Codex I will be reissued; it will eventually be incorporated in Codex II.
[18:02] * scribbler can edit (hey, a tech writing degree's gotta come in handy for SOMETHING!)....
[18:02] <Kendall> I would be glad to help as well in editing proofreading or whatever
[18:02] <Mak> And I've got to go- darn it! But dinner is ready!
[18:03] <Shiral> Bye, Mak
[18:03] <Kendall> bye MAK
[18:03] <KK> I'd suggest that a way to go about it might be for people to take on a chapter or two apiece, and index the characters and places for that chapter.
[18:03] <Sedina> Bye, Mak  *huggles*
[18:03] <Kiri`> night mak!
[18:03] <Jessie> Katherine:  Martine, I know, would be interested
[18:03] <virtualbabe> later MAK
[18:03] <Jessie> night Mak
[18:03] <Shiral> Me too
[18:03] <KK> Then someone--or two--could integrate all the material.
[18:03] <scribbler> Perhaps Shiral can do some line illustrations?
[18:03] * Shiral is trying to envision how all this will work
[18:03] <Jessie> or Kathi
[18:03] <KK> Then it would require a line by line edit, to make sure it all flows together.
[18:03] <KK> Yes, Siral could do illos.
[18:03] <Mak> I'm definitely interested- keep me posted, ok, guys???
[18:03] * Kiri` nods
[18:04] <Shiral> We'll keep you in the loop, Mak
[18:04] <virtualbabe> I'd be glad to help in any way I can
[18:04] <the_Bee> ditto
[18:04] <Mak> Thanks! Bye
[18:04] <KK> I'd suggest that we use the same format as Codex I.
[18:04] *** Quits: Mak (QUIT: )
[18:04] <Kiri`> agrees
[18:04] <Shiral> Good idea
[18:04] <Kelos_al-Hazar> I could see what I can do in reference to integration...
[18:04] <KK> Characters that have already appeared in Codex I and also appear in KKB could be included, of course.
[18:04] <scribbler> too bad this didn't come up earlier -- I could've maybe used THAT as my class project....
[18:04] <Kendall> now Katherine you are talking for KKB, correct?
[18:04] <Sedina> LOL scribs..but you would have enjoyed that too much
[18:04] <KK> Yes.
[18:05] <Kelos_al-Hazar> We need to standardize what word processor we all use, right? :) I have MS Word 2000...
[18:05] * scribbler sticks her tongue out at Sedina....
[18:05] <KK> Just KKB.  Not the two short stories.  Those rightfully should be with Codex II, which eventually will include the 3 Childe Morgan books.
[18:05] * virtualbabe is not sure of the format of codex, but is willing to try
[18:05] <KK> Word is the format of choice.
[18:06] <Shiral> I got word, will travel
[18:06] * Sedina grins at scribs
[18:06] <virtualbabe> I do too, but I got rid of clippie
[18:06] <Kendall> maybe you should appoint people to certain chapters
[18:06] <the_Bee> never seen a Codex.  what does it include? genealogies and what else?
[18:06] <scribbler> I'm in Word 98 (Mac), but if I use the .doc extension when I save, it'll be readable on any machine....
[18:06] <KK> Maybe some could scan a few pages of Codex and distribute those to folks who don't have it, so everyone would know the format.
[18:06] <Shiral> For clarity's sake so we don't double up
[18:06] <KK> We needn't do the two-column format.
[18:06] <Kelos_al-Hazar> Need a central repository for the files? I have two FTP sites...
[18:06] <Kiri`> the 2 column format isn't difficult..
[18:06] <Shiral> And duplicate another person's work
[18:07] <Jessie> Why don't we post to the newsgroup asking for volunteers -- to do chapters
[18:07] <KK> If one of you could take on the coordinator job, that would be a big help.
[18:07] <Sedina> two column format is easy to achieve once the document's been completed.
[18:07] <KK> Newsgroup is a great idea.
[18:07] <Jessie> then the coordinator could appoint each person who volunteers a chapter
[18:07] <Kelos_al-Hazar> Setting columns in Word should be via template, I'd say...
[18:07] <KK> Sounds good, Jessie.
[18:07] <Kendall> maybe DD should post a board on site to help coordinate the efforts
[18:07] <scribbler> and also editors?
[18:07] <Jessie> Kelos:  editor will set format
[18:08] <Jessie> Katherine:  I'll coordinate if you like
[18:08] <Sedina> I can help coordinate
[18:08] <KK> Shiral, could we set up a coordination site via the website, maybe?  I don't know if this is possible--just throwing out ideas.
[18:08] <Kiri`> i'd say that for the best options.. Julianne should get the finished product in pdf format.  it'd be the simplist.
[18:08] <Kendall> yes it is, at least it is on my web site
[18:08] <Kelos_al-Hazar> I don't have a Word-to-PDF converter... :(
[18:08] <KK> Julianne uses Word, and has a shiny new computer with all the bells and whistles.  :-)
[18:09] <virtualbabe> can pdf be done without acrobat?  that is a little beyond my budget
[18:09] <Shiral> I think a central coordination site WOULD be necessary, I'd have to Ask Carolyn, KK
[18:09] <the_Bee> speaking of Julianne, have you all answered her appeal for your email addies?
[18:09] <Kiri`> no  but for making sure stuff doesn't shift it's one of the best options.
[18:09] <Shiral> about the technical aspect of it all
[18:09] <scribbler> I can convert the finished product to PDF if that's necessary....I have Acrobat 5 (thank goodness for academic pricing!)
[18:09] <Kiri`> has that as well..
[18:09] <KK> Please do, Shiral.  And since Jessie has volunteered, please coordinate with her.
[18:09] <Bynw> vb, there are other programs that can create pdf files than acrobat but not as good of course
[18:10] *** Joins: Guest00844
[18:10] <Shiral> Okay
[18:10] <Kelos_al-Hazar> I can help with e-mail addresses...I have quite a few available (<user>@rhemuthcastle.com) after all...
[18:10] <the_Bee> hi guest
[18:10] * Shiral salutes the general-in-chief
[18:10] <scribbler> I got Acrobat because I want to put my portfolio on CD, when I get my CD writer....
[18:10] *** Guest00844 is now known as jm
[18:10] <jm> hi
[18:10] <Jessie> hello Jerry
[18:10] <Jessie> welcome back
[18:10] <Sedina> wb Jerry
[18:10] <Kendall> wb Jerry
[18:10] <Kiri`> re jerry
[18:10] <Jessie> the KK is Katherine
[18:10] <Shiral> Hello Jerry
[18:10] <the_Bee> hi jm
[18:10] <Kendall> you think Jessie
[18:10] <jm> hi to all
[18:10] <Jessie> Katherine this is Jerry -- he frequents the newsgroup
[18:10] <KK> We get it all in Word first, do all the editing, <then> worry about converting the finished product to pdf, if that's necessary.  But like I said, Julianne uses Word for DA.
[18:10] * scribbler sends greetings to Jerry....
[18:11] <KK> Hello, Jerry.
[18:11] <jm> hi
[18:11] <Kiri`> ah well then word would rpobably be the way to go. =)
[18:11] <Kelos_al-Hazar> What size are the pages, KK? I'll set it up on my copy of Word...
[18:11] <scribbler> well, if we had it in PDF, it could also be available on the website -- or we could just do a sample to whet people's interest....
[18:11] <Shiral> So would this project comprise the whole of the next issue of DAtZ, KK?
[18:11] <Jessie> Kelos:  regular letter size
[18:11] <KK> 8 1/2 by 11
[18:11] * the_Bee has Word 98. not sure what information required per character
[18:12] <KK> Just set it single spaced, standard indent, hanging.
[18:12] <Shiral> Assuming we can get this all together in time this summer
[18:12] * Kiri` grins
[18:12] <Jessie> post will go to the newsgroup this evening
[18:12] <virtualbabe> Word 200 or 2002 should be able to read a 98 file
[18:12] <Bynw> all kinds of neat deryni projects going on just now
[18:12] <KK> I should think we could get it together by summer, keeping in mind that all of us have lives....  :-)
[18:12] <Bynw> as does a copy of this chat log :-)
[18:13] <Kendall> not any more
[18:13] <Shiral> Oh, not me...<G>
[18:13] <scribbler> Life? What's that? <*G*>
[18:13] <virtualbabe> What's a life?
[18:13] <duck> its what happens while you're making plans
[18:13] * Bynw lives online
[18:13] <duck> anyway people i must go
[18:13] <Shiral> For something else altogether
[18:13] <Jessie> huggles duck
[18:13] <Shiral> Bye Duck, Huggles
[18:13] <duck> enjoy the week to follow
[18:13] <virtualbabe>  G'day duck
[18:13] <scribbler> have a good morning, Donald....
[18:13] <KK> Anyway, it sounds like this is something everyone would like.  And while it isn't as useful as Codex II right now, it's better than none.
[18:13] <Kendall> cya Duck
[18:13] <the_Bee> g'day duck
[18:13] <Kelos_al-Hazar> It'd be cool to be part of something Deryni that's official! :)
[18:13] <Sedina> Bye, duck  *huggles*  Have a good day
[18:14] *** Quits: duck (QUIT: )
[18:14] <virtualbabe> truye.  I was a very dissapointed woman when I heard it was cancelled
[18:14] <Shiral> I'll BRB, Ravenous beasts are threatening to tear me limb from limb if I don't feed them NOW
[18:14] <scribbler> LOL Shiral....
[18:14] <the_Bee> yes :0(
[18:14] <Jessie> Katherine:  question
[18:15] <Kelos_al-Hazar> How wide is the hang, KK? Word defaults to 0.5"...
[18:15] <Bynw> Yep it will be a nice suppliment for Codex I and for those without a Codex a nice bit of info
[18:15] <KK> I'll say cautiously that there's room here for a wee bit of extrapolating on your parts--fleshing out of some of the literal information I've supplied.  Just don't get carried away.....
[18:15] <Jessie> should we work from the paper back or hardback KKB
[18:15] <Kiri`> there's a difference in the content of the 2 formats?
[18:15] <Kendall> are they different?
[18:15] <KK> Yu can work from either one.  A few typos were caught in the paperback, though.
[18:16] <Jessie> k
[18:16] <virtualbabe> hardcover KKB had a frew minor errors
[18:16] <scribbler> there were a few small errors in the hardback, which were corrected in paperback....
[18:16] <Kiri`> suggests that the errors be listed out.. just in case someone is interested.
[18:16] <Kendall> looks like I need to get a paperback
[18:16] <virtualbabe> Speaking of errors... I noticed a slight goof in St' Pat's (the hardcover)
[18:16] <Shiral> Back
[18:16] <KK> indent default is whatever it is for standard paragraph.
[18:16] <Kendall> more money coming your way Katherine
[18:16] <Kelos_al-Hazar> Well, the only copy of KKB I currently have is HC... Heh. Guess I need to shag me a paperback of it from somewhere.
[18:16] <Kiri`> happy kitties Shiral?
[18:16] <the_Bee> yes.  any factual errors, or just minor?
[18:17] <KK> SPG error?
[18:17] <Shiral> They've decided to let me keep my fingers, Kiri
[18:17] <Kelos_al-Hazar> KK, you DID say "hanging"?
[18:17] <Shiral> And it's much quieter in here, suddenly
[18:17] <scribbler> The main one I can think of is Azim saying that Derry got the evil ring in Rhemuth, not Beldour....
[18:17] <virtualbabe> The pink candle is used on the third sunday of advent, not fourth, at least in the catholic church
[18:17] <KK> Hanging indent.
[18:18] <the_Bee> what do you expect?  this all happened centuries before standardized spelling.
[18:18] <Kelos_al-Hazar> Got it, then... :) No worries. Singlespaced, too.
[18:18] *** Joins: Rambart20
[18:18] <KK> I think it <was> the third Sunday, and it <was> rose.
[18:18] <Sedina> Hi Bart
[18:18] <Jessie> hello bart
[18:18] <Shiral> Hello Bart
[18:18] <Kendall> hey Bart
[18:18] <Bynw> hiyas Bart
[18:18] <virtualbabe> Hi Bart
[18:18] <Kiri`> hi bart
[18:18] <Rambart20> howdy all
[18:18] * scribbler sends greetings to Bart
[18:18] <KK> Hi, Bart.
[18:18] <the_Bee> hi bart
[18:18] * Bynw is going to be in IA in a month
[18:18] <Rambart20> waves from the really frozen Iowan tundra
[18:18] <Kendall> poor Bynw
[18:19] <Shiral> Snow, Bart?
[18:19] <the_Bee> visiting Marnee?
[18:19] <KK> We caught that one, Scribs.
[18:19] <Rambart20> cool Bynw
[18:19] * Sedina might end up making a trip to IA next month because of Bynw.  :)
[18:19] <the_Bee> Marnin
[18:19] <scribbler> I know -- I've got both....actually, it was Kelric who pointed it out to me (eagle-eye here totally missed it)....
[18:19] <Bynw> yeah and a month from yesterday is my BDay
[18:19] <KK> Jessicat is being very silly tonight.  First she was on my desk meatloafing, now she's attacking her scratching post that she usually totally ignores.
[18:19] <Rambart20> what part you going to Bynw?
[18:20] <Bynw> DSM
[18:20] <scribbler> oooh -- cool....my birthday is 3 weeks from tomorrow....
[18:20] <Shiral> As in "How to tell a cat from a meatloaf" KK?
[18:20] <Rambart20> sounds like jessicat is showing off
[18:20] <KK> Yep, Shiral.
[18:20] <the_Bee> she has to remind that scratching post who's boss
[18:20] <Shiral> LOL
[18:20] <virtualbabe> She's helping you type katherine
[18:20] <scribbler> I think someone is saying, "Pay attention to ME, Mommy, not that machine!"
[18:20] <Shiral> Personally, the difference has always seemed pretty clear, to me
[18:21] <KK> Usually, they savage my poor laundry hamper.  It's totally disreputable, but at least they mostly don't scratch anywhere else.
[18:21] <Kendall> DSM = Des Moines?
[18:21] <Shiral> I've never had a meatloaf drape itself over my shoulders and purr <G>
[18:21] <Bynw> yes Kendall
[18:21] <Kendall> hmm
[18:21] *** Quits: Sedina (Connection reset by peer)
[18:21] <Bynw> ack! Peer attack
[18:21] <KK> Oooo, bad Peer!
[18:21] <virtualbabe> uh-oh Peer got sedina
[18:21] <Rambart20> if you did you would have a problem Shiral
[18:21] <Shiral> But then, meatloaf doesn't powershed all over the apartment
[18:21] <the_Bee> Bee stings Peer in the unmentionables
[18:21] * Kelos_al-Hazar slaps peer upside the head with a spiked glove
[18:21] <scribbler> I should hope not, though back in college, I thought I saw the "Mystery Meat" actually move.... *G*
[18:21] <Shiral> I agree, Bart <G>
[18:22] * scribbler attacks Peer with a month-old meatloaf....
[18:22] * virtualbabe attacks peer with an overripe plantaine

[18:22] <KK> Well, anyway, I have to get back to finishing this Templar
project.  I PROMISE it will be gone next week!
[18:22] <Shiral> WB, Sedina
[18:22] <Sedina> argh...
[18:22] <Kendall> maybe it's time to visit Iowa
[18:22] <Jessie> wb Sedina
[18:22] <scribbler> Congrats on it finally coming together, KK...
[18:22] <Sedina> thanks
[18:22] <Rambart20> * conjures up an Ice storm to send peers way
[18:22] <Shiral> Templars camped all over Holybrooke, outstaying their welcome...<G>
[18:22] <KK> You guys can report me via e-mail how the delegation and organization is coming along on the Supplement.
[18:22] <Shiral> Ship those rascals out!
