When they were measuring for the hangar that houses the collection, they forgot to figure in that the tips of the wings aren't on the ground, so wouldn't have fit in the quonset-hut shaped hangar, so they had to bob the wingtips and refashion them. My dad went out on them several times, when he was working with marine radio telephones in the 50's. SAll very different technology in those days.
