The Childe Morgan / Re: Who set the Haldane Potential in Malcolm?
« Last post by Bynw on May 27, 2017, 12:52:01 pm »
I think up it was a mix of the Haldane's themselves with periodic help of the Camberian Council assisting in setting the Haldane potential in all Haldane heirs until Brian and his son Kelson. Here we have a departure since Donal didn't have a high trust of the Camberian Council or it's members.

Thank you for your comments and glad you are enjoying the story. My own teenage boy is thirty next week (how did that happen!) but I know all too well the need to argue every point and push the boundaries.

Dhugal took Andrew by surprise,  too. ;-) Dhugal is furious with Andrew, partly because Jatham is being disrespected , but also because Dhugal can identify with Andrew and is frightened for him, like a parent who punishes a child who runs into the road.

Kelson has already said in one of KK's books what he intends for Jatham but, as Jatham has forgotten, it will have to wait for the epilogue in three weeks' time to be revealed.

The Childe Morgan / Who set the Haldane Potential in Malcolm?
« Last post by Lochiel on May 26, 2017, 09:20:05 pm »
I'm rereading the Childe Morgan series for the first time. I'm guessing jessamy MacAthan set the potential in Donal Haldane?  But who set the potential in Malcolm Haldane?  The Camberian Council at this point in time seems like it has lost its focus and much of its knowledge and purpose.  Ideas or did I miss something?

Fascinating. It is an  issue that had not been thought of sufficiently  until they faced a deryni teenager starting to use his powers without adequate training or knowledge of the possible consequences (scary thought). Teenagers can be scary  enough even when they're not deryni. I hve a teenage grandson so I know how often they do things without really thinking them through. Sounds  like Rothanna has the right idea. They need to find a way to identify them and see that they get proper training in the responsible use of their powers, something more useful than winning at Quintain. Loved this and especially hearing more about Jatham and Janniver. I have to say Dhugal took me by surprise.  Keep writing. Waiting anxiously  for the next chapter.

Elkhound,
I am sorry to hear of your situation. I would suggest Liver Flushes (does many positives things but in your case releasing the "emotional liver stones" would be most beneficial)
Have you ever had your energy/chakras balanced? That should also help if you can find a good one in your area.  Best wishes

There is a particular problem for Muslims in Northern latitudes if Ramadan falls at this time of year. At the moment here in central England the hours of daylight are from approximately 4am until 10pm and it is not yet midsummer. In northern Scotland it is more like 3am until 11pm. I have heard of a suggestion that the hours of daylight should be calculated from Mecca but I don't know whether that is having serious consideration.

That is a consideration, especially for Muslims in places like northern Norway or Sweden or Alaska or parts of Canada, where daylight this time of year runs almost 24/7.  And yes, the suggestion for those Muslims is to fast based upon sunrise and sunset times in Mecca, since not eating or drinking for such extended periods of time would be detrimental to the health of even basically healthy people who could otherwise take part in the fast of Ramadan, and the point of the fast is temporary deprivation, contemplation, and charity, not destroying your bodily health.

Ramadan Mubarak!

Today is the first day of Ramadan, the Muslim month of fasting, so for al-Rasoul and the other Moorish characters, I thought I'd say something about it.

Observant Muslims fast (refrain from eating or drinking, smoking, or engaging in sexual acts, or sinful behaviors such as gossiping, insulting other people, cursing, lying, etc.) from sunrise to sunset for the month.  They offer extra offerings to the poor during the month, and they are also expected to pray and examine themselves and their lives for any sins/ways in which they could improve their behavior towards their fellow people and the Divine.

Certain people are exempted from fasting, including people under the age of 13 or over the age of 65, people who are sick (acute or chronic illness), people who are traveling, pregnant, nursing, or menstruating women, or anyone for whom the fast would be harmful (such as someone in recovery from an eating disorder, for example).

Edited to change a word for better clarity.

Superb!
I love all the detail provided of this day in Kilshane. Seeing what has come of Baron Jatham and Janniver is wonderful. Jatham is a wise man and deserves his chief's respect.  I wonder if Dhugal will ever lose that signet ring in his bet with Kelson, His Majesty. LOL

Good to see that Sir MacGregor's down from Travelga earned his way. And easy to see that his middle son would discover his own ways of winning at competition. I agree the schola will be good for him. They will have, I am sure,  strict taskmasters for handling such competitive youths.  Very, very, generous of the baron to offer the money to pay the boy's way. Kelson, His Majesty, I am sure, will find a way to recompense that generosity in turn.

Keep writing Revanne.
