*Squee!* Looks like your project is off to a great start, with or without little outfits (what would you dress an Orthodox Church in, anyway?) and I love the lurking "Cat-zilla"!   :D

It is a good thing that you have the spiral dome made from paper mache.  It would be next to impossible to tackle that by way of Origami!

Hello all, tonight I've added several more slides to the Hagios project. I had a very productive weekend working on it. Soon I hope to show the basic structure coming together.

Perhaps a tiny patriarch will be able to hold Easter Mass there. If, as in our world, Torenth celebrates Easter a little after the West.   ;D

This is looking really good!  I especially love the icons to either side of the door.  I'm going to have to channel my Inner Shiral to come up with the line drawings for the embroidered patches I want to add to Duncan's cope someday, as I've been looking at clip art online and the idea I'm envisioning just doesn't seem to be out there.

It gets better with each new posting.  I appreciate your desciptions of how you are developing each part and putting it all together.

Oops, sorry! :o  I was at a family Easter Lunch today that stretched into dinner.  :P  When I got home, I settled into my comfy chair to watch TV and promptly fell asleep with a lap full of cat.

Tomorrow, honest!

And the walls of the Hagios are up! Go take a look.

Next step will be figuring out how to make my roofs and towers....

Catzilla is the best looking building inspector I've ever seen!   :D

It looks great so far - and thanks for a peek at the finished building behind it, too.

Oh, wow, that's really starting to come together!  And I'm glad you've got such good building inspectors to supervise your progress.   ;)

That's looking awesome.    The blue colour almost seems to glow with the goldagainst it.

And I do hope that Cat & Co building inspectors will eventually provide you with an appropriately paw-printed certificate of completion  :D

I agree with Alkari - the blue and gold create such a rich look. It's beautiful work.

Does the final inspection by Cat and Co come with a "no mouse" guarantee?  :)

Nice work, Shiral!  Very pretty.  Festil has been following this project too, and he was wondering why Hagios Iob, of all the buildings in KK's world.  (Not that he's complaining, mind you; his favorite book in the entire series is KKB because you get a good look at Torenth in there, but he was just curious as to what inspired you.)

I was believe it or not, inspired to start this by a paper Christmas ornament which I thought was the perfect shape for the central dome on a Russian Er, Torenthi Orthodox church. I was quite pleased by the effect as the project progressed.

When I start these projects, I'm almost entirely inspired by the aesthetics; I'm not currently a member, nor do I plan to join the Orthodox church.  :D

I just like the aesthetics of Russian sacred architecture. I the swirls and the curves of that style. And I liked the image of the gold stars against the blue that KK talked about in KKB; blue and gold has always been one of my favorite color combinations.
Thank you  all for indulging me with attention and comments on the Hagios Project!

Ah, I see.  Festil and I went and visited our local Greek Orthodox church last summer, and we keep meaning to go back, because the people there were really awesome, but it's been an issue of other stuff to do on Sundays *coughsleepcough* and we just haven't gotten back over there.  I have a thing for Orthodox sacred architecture too, but I'm not quite that artistic.  :)

Shiral, I found this online and I thought of you, instantly. It is not medieval, however, being that it is the month of October, it fits with the time of year.

Your "Hagios"Iob is beautiful and most impressive. Enjoyed seeing the project come together  You are quite talented  and I am sure Liam was impressed with his coronation setting,.
