[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:05:58 PM EST] <Derynifank> Hi everyone , happy 12th night. Anyone having revels
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:06:14 PM EST] <The_Bee> HI kk AND ALL
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:06:33 PM EST] <revanne> No - apart from with my hot water bottle
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:06:37 PM EST] <DesertRose> There was an Epiphany-themed (sort of) SCA event this weekend; an event normally named "Hero of the Chalice" was dubbed "Chalice of the Three Kings" this year.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:06:55 PM EST] <laurna> Revanne is it that cold, or do you have a cold
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:07:23 PM EST] <revanne> It's cold - about 34 outside and our heating has broken down :-(
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:07:28 PM EST] <DesertRose> Yikes!
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:07:32 PM EST] <laurna> Oh Dear
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:07:35 PM EST] <jerusha> Oh dear, that's not good at all!
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:07:37 PM EST] <KK> Oh no!
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:07:41 PM EST] <Evie> :-(
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:08:03 PM EST] <revanne> We have a few heaters but the boiler has locked out and we can't do anything until we have rung the Diocese tomorrow
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:08:06 PM EST] <Derynifank> Oh dear!
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:08:08 PM EST] <The_Bee> hOLY fROZEN rEVANNE!
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:08:10 PM EST] <laurna> Time to turn on the oven and do some baking
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:08:14 PM EST] <jerusha> I suppose repairs will have to wait until morning?
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:08:20 PM EST] <revanne> They are generally very quick in sending someone out.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:08:31 PM EST] <revanne> Indeed Bee
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:08:32 PM EST] <jerusha> Oh good
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:08:38 PM EST] <DesertRose> It's 10 p.m. local time for revanne, laurna. I suspect that while the oven's heat would be appreciated, she may not be up to baking at this hour. :D
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:08:58 PM EST] <laurna> True
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:09:01 PM EST] <KK> I should hope so. Can't have a house full of of frozen clerics and their cats.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:09:02 PM EST] <Jemler> hi kk
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:09:03 PM EST] <revanne> No and a dog asleep in the kitchen would NOT BE AMUSED
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:09:09 PM EST] <Derynifank> Hot water bottles and comforters
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:09:28 PM EST] <KK> Electric blankets, perhaps?
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:09:29 PM EST] <jerusha> Maybe he would like a cookie
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:09:47 PM EST] <revanne> I'm old fashioned so it's hot water bottles forme.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:10:06 PM EST] <revanne> And a great wheat bag that you heat in the microwave
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:10:12 PM EST] <jerusha> I don't think I own a hot water bottle
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:10:14 PM EST] <laurna> I don't even own a hot water bottle. Do they still sell them
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:10:26 PM EST] <laurna> Jerusha You and I think alike
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:10:30 PM EST] <revanne> They are very popular
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:10:33 PM EST] <jerusha> You can get furry covers for them
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:10:43 PM EST] <bynw> Derynifank, did you want to go with the new weapon proficiency of light melee weapons for your character?
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:11:12 PM EST] <revanne> dogs work well for warmth too and they come with their own furry covers
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:11:14 PM EST] <Derynifank> I had a comforter that was so heavy you had to get in position before you pulled it up cause you could not move after
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:11:37 PM EST] <Derynifank> Yes bybe
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:11:40 PM EST] <jerusha> Agreed, revanne!
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:11:48 PM EST] <Derynifank> Yes I DO
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:11:59 PM EST] <laurna> My dogs are my comforter
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:12:07 PM EST] <revanne> I think comforters are what we call Duvets - filled with feather and down or synthetic fibre?
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:12:20 PM EST] <jerusha> I did read somewhere that weighted blankets are supposed to help you sleep better
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:12:29 PM EST] <laurna> The kind that snuggle so close that by morning you are nearly pushed off the bed
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:12:32 PM EST] <Derynifank> YUP! THAT IS THEY
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:12:58 PM EST] <revanne> How many dogs do you have on your bed, Laurna?
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:12:59 PM EST] <Evie> I think of a duvet as a comforter with a removable cover that can be washed separately. Though it might be different over there.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:13:13 PM EST] <laurna> 5 at the momemnt. Mom returned one
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:13:17 PM EST] <bynw> Derynifank, make sure you add the 2nd weapon proficiency
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:13:39 PM EST] <Derynifank> Hoe do I do that ?
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:13:44 PM EST] <revanne> That's right Evie - putting the covers on is quite an art form especially if they are double or king-sized.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:13:46 PM EST] <jerusha> So you get 1/6th of the bed
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:14:07 PM EST] <KK> Good Lord, yes! There's definitely an art to it!
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:14:11 PM EST] <jerusha> Been there, revanne; totally understand
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:14:20 PM EST] <laurna> Bynw, does she have to have the 2nd weapon proficiency BEFORE she can have Mastery in a weopon in that group?
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:14:33 PM EST] <Derynifank> I either have crazy fingers or a demented tablet tonight
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:14:45 PM EST] <Evie> I only have a couple of comforters, and they are the sort that don't have a separate cover, although I think having separate covers would be more convenient for laundry purposes.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:15:21 PM EST] <Evie> Then again, it rarely gets so cold that I need to use the comforter. I mainly just pile layers of blankets on and then throw off one or two layers once i warm up in the middle of the night.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:15:38 PM EST] <revanne> Putting the cover back on after washing used to be DH's job but he can't remember how to do it anymore so I have had to take it on. Quite a bit of colourful language tends to escape me.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:16:02 PM EST] <revanne> Blankets are hardly used over here at all now.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:16:08 PM EST] <jerusha> Probably as the duvet escapes
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:16:14 PM EST] <laurna> My hot flashes have kept the comforter in the closet and only a few layers of blinkets on the bed. Like eive. they are easier to move away
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:16:32 PM EST] <revanne> Or I get wrapped up in the cover and look like the ghost of Christmas past
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:16:34 PM EST] <DesertRose> Down here in Florida, my mom uses a duvet cover with no duvet in it as the outer layer on her and my stepdad's bed, because it's mostly too darn hot!
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:16:36 PM EST] <Derynifank> Stuffing the down part back into the cover is definitely a challenge
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:17:05 PM EST] <jerusha> There should be a Deryni spell for that.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:17:10 PM EST] <Evie> I am always cold, no matter the season, when I first go to bed, but then as I warm up, I have to throw layers off. So I can't just use a sheet and a comforter. I need something less heavy than the comforter for the middle layer unless it's a super cold night.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:17:11 PM EST] <Jemler> stuffing is a real downer.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:17:14 PM EST] <Derynifank> Absolutely
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:17:22 PM EST] * laurna imaginiing the duvet escaping from revanne's bed
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:17:28 PM EST] <revanne> It's hard to remember that last summer we were just doing what your mom does DR it was so hot.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:17:33 PM EST] <DesertRose> My bed has a fairly lightweight "waffle weave" blanket atop the flat sheet, and then a very thin quilt over that; that's all I need unless it gets literally near freezing.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:17:40 PM EST] <The_Bee> I've never had a duvet or comforter. I have enough trouble getting a fitted sheet to stay put.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:17:50 PM EST] <Jemler> hi bee
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:18:11 PM EST] <The_Bee> I have several blankets of varying weights.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:18:54 PM EST] <The_Bee> hi jemler
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:19:07 PM EST] <laurna> I like the old blankets. these new Plush blinkets hold in TOO MUCH heat.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:19:18 PM EST] <DesertRose> My mom has become fond of those smallish plush throw blankets (about large enough to use as a lap rug), and she's been known to put her housecoat over the top of the bedding if she's chilly.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:20:12 PM EST] * The_Bee sends warm thoughts to all the cold people in chat.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:20:25 PM EST] <revanne> the plush throws are great - they are light and keep in the warmth. We had a few for my Dad because he could wrap himself in them in his chair and if it's really cold I add one of those too.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:20:32 PM EST] <revanne> Thanks Bee
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:20:42 PM EST] <Derynifank> Wear warm fuzzy socks. If feet srevwarm, rest of you will be warmed
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:20:44 PM EST] <jerusha> Much appreciated, Bee
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:21:01 PM EST] <laurna> Stay warm any way you can Revanne
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:21:05 PM EST] <Derynifank> Feet are warm
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:21:06 PM EST] Join Shiral (uid327538@OWIRCN-c7444ab5.irccloud.com) has joined this channel.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:21:13 PM EST] <revanne> Hi Shiral
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:21:15 PM EST] <laurna> Hello Shiral
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:21:15 PM EST] <KK> For duvets, we use Lands End or LL Bean insulated blankets--don't think that's the right name for them. They're slightly lighter than a regular duvet, and can be washed more easily. In winter, like now, we put a blanket between that and the top sheet, and I can throw off layers as sit gets too warm.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:21:17 PM EST] <The_Bee> Hi Shiral!
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:21:17 PM EST] <Jemler> hi shiral
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:21:19 PM EST] <Derynifank> Hi shiral
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:21:21 PM EST] <DesertRose> And I sewed my SCA cloak out of the same type of fleece material that those lap rugs are often made of (it'd pass as wool at ten feet), so it has been pressed into service as a blanket too.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:21:21 PM EST] <Shiral> Hello and Happy New Year, Everyone
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:21:22 PM EST] <jerusha> Hi Shiral
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:21:22 PM EST] <DesertRose> Hi Shiral
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:21:57 PM EST] <revanne> Happy new Year
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:22:03 PM EST] <KK> I also have a foot-warmer heating pad that I put under the bottom sheet at the foot of the bed, and that keeps the tootsies warm, along with socks.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:22:03 PM EST] * Shiral snaps fingers and sets the tea table with a pot of tea and a Linzertorte
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:22:12 PM EST] <Evie> I love fuzzy socks all day long but I can't sleep with them because then they make me too hot
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:22:34 PM EST] <DesertRose> Oh, that reminds me. I saw a recipe online for jammy dodgers, using Paul Hollywood's shortbread recipe for the cookie/biscuit part.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:22:39 PM EST] <Shiral> Spent New Year's Eve at my sisters and DID sleep with socks, since it was very chilly, that night.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:22:41 PM EST] * revanne would pass round what is left of the Christmas chocolates but DS ate them all while we were away
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:22:57 PM EST] <Derynifank> Ooh, that sounds yummy
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:22:58 PM EST] <jerusha> The air is so dry here in winter, if I wore fuzzy socks to bed I would get shocked
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:23:00 PM EST] <The_Bee> Happy New Year! Has anyone broken their New Year's resolutions yet?
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:23:10 PM EST] <DesertRose> I don't make them, haven't in years. :D
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:23:11 PM EST] <revanne> I haven't made any this year
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:23:17 PM EST] <Shiral> I made my first Linzertorte on New Year's Eve. Have to say it's still pretty tasty
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:23:20 PM EST] <Jemler> put DS on Santa's Naughty List!
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:23:40 PM EST] <laurna> What is in a Linzertorte
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:23:45 PM EST] <jerusha> No chocolate bunny for him at Easter
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:23:51 PM EST] <The_Bee> My last resolution was to stop 's resolutions.making New Year
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:23:57 PM EST] <laurna> LOL
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:23:58 PM EST] <DesertRose> Shiral, Paul Hollywood's shortbread recipe is pretty darn close to yours, except it involves egg yolks, which I have to think probably make the finished cookies/biscuits even richer.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:24:02 PM EST] <The_Bee> ' resolutions
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:24:03 PM EST] <Derynifank> I like that one
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:24:25 PM EST] <Shiral> It's kind of a spiced almond or hazelnut dough with a raspberry jam filling between the bottom crust and a lattice top
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:24:39 PM EST] <laurna> yumm
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:24:39 PM EST] <Jemler> my last resolution was to be redundant. my last resolution was to be redundant. my last resolution was to be redundant.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:24:45 PM EST] <revanne> DS got me into watching Bake off so I might forgive him the chocolates
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:24:53 PM EST] <DesertRose> Oh, and for New Year's dinner, Mom started and I finished those Chocolate-Dipped Prosecco Strawberries that Julianne posted a whlie back.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:25:05 PM EST] <revanne> Yum DR
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:25:12 PM EST] <Shiral> I've started adding an egg yolk to my shortbread. It's pretty good
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:25:45 PM EST] <Shiral> Linzertorte comes from the Austrian town of Linz, hence the name
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:25:48 PM EST] <DesertRose> Mom bought and washed the strawberries and set them to macerate in the prosecco on NYE, and the next day, I took them out of the prosecco (we wound up straining it and drinking it, yum!), mixed up the chocolate, and dipped them.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:26:07 PM EST] <revanne> DS's girlfriend and her mum are great bakers and they sent down a hamper of goodies for Christmas including some yummy spicey ginger cookies
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:26:17 PM EST] <jerusha> Dipping would be more fun after the prosecco
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:26:23 PM EST] <Evie> yum
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:26:38 PM EST] <Shiral> Prosecco ups the fun ante quite a lot
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:26:49 PM EST] <DesertRose> The prosecco in which the strawberries had macerated acquired this lovely light-golden-pink color and a very faint strawberry flavor. Yum yum!
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:27:06 PM EST] <revanne> Sounds wonderful DR
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:27:15 PM EST] <DesertRose> We just had to strain out the strawberry seeds and one stray bit of leaf. :D
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:27:24 PM EST] <jerusha> Alas, I must run. I have to make my Sunday phone call to my Dad
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:27:25 PM EST] <Derynifank> Sounds lovely
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:27:26 PM EST] <revanne> Don't the strawberries go soggy though?
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:27:30 PM EST] <DesertRose> Okay, be safe, jerusha.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:27:38 PM EST] <jerusha> Have a great week, everyone!
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:27:38 PM EST] <Shiral> I took a full bottle of Prosecco to my Mom's place on Christmas, but we never drank it
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:27:43 PM EST] <Shiral> Bye, Jerusha
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:27:45 PM EST] <revanne> Ok - Night Jerusha. Hope your Dad's ok
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:27:48 PM EST] <The_Bee> nighters, Jerusha
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:27:52 PM EST] <Jemler> nite jerusha
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:27:58 PM EST] <DesertRose> No, actually, the prosecco soak helps them keep their texture nice and firm even after dipping and chilling them (so the chocolate can firm up a bit).
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:27:59 PM EST] <Derynifank> Night Jerusha
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:28:22 PM EST] <Shiral> I never thought of doing that with strawberries
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:28:35 PM EST] <DesertRose> I wouldn't have either, until I saw the recipe Julianne posted.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:28:51 PM EST] <DesertRose> But I will definitely do it again, because YUM! is not even sufficient to express how tasty they were.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:29:57 PM EST] <DesertRose> They had the texture of fresh strawberries, the flavor of fresh strawberries with a hint of prosecco, and they were dipped in chocolate (which was Ghirardelli 60% cacao bittersweet chips, melted).
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:30:38 PM EST] <laurna> Night Jerusha
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:31:12 PM EST] <Shiral> So any news?
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:32:37 PM EST] <laurna> not much new here
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:32:59 PM EST] <laurna> leaky roof. Roofer comes over on tuesday
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:33:12 PM EST] <Shiral> Inconvenient time of year for it
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:33:33 PM EST] <laurna> ahah It is the only time of year that you can notice it.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:34:01 PM EST] <Derynifank> Not sure there is a good time for a leaky roof.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:34:13 PM EST] <KK> Nighters, Jerusha.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:34:18 PM EST] <The_Bee> when it's not raining
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:34:20 PM EST] <Jemler> nite jerusha
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:34:40 PM EST] <laurna> emptied two full buckets of water this morning. And I didn't even think i rained all that much
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:34:59 PM EST] <KK> Yike! Where is it leaking?
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:35:11 PM EST] <laurna> how about "it rained.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:35:15 PM EST] <Evie> Ouch, that was us just last year
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:35:29 PM EST] <revanne> I think we have a leaky roof in our cottage as one of the walls is damp but we'll have to wait until we can do down again to have it checked out.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:35:44 PM EST] <Derynifank> Hate to tell Revanne it was in the 60's here today however it could be 30 s in a day or two
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:35:49 PM EST] <laurna> in the craft/garage room under where the roofliines meet at an angle
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:36:15 PM EST] <KK> Sounds like the flashing may have a problem.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:36:20 PM EST] <revanne> That'sa pain Laurna
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:36:37 PM EST] <laurna> I am certain it is the flashing
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:36:52 PM EST] <laurna> Just not how certain it will take to fix it
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:37:07 PM EST] <The_Bee> In a previous apartment I once had a heck of a time convincing my landlord that my roof leaked.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:37:41 PM EST] <laurna> I will let you know next week what the fix will be
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:37:47 PM EST] <KK> Sometimes, they can just take the flashing up and replace it, if the shingles beneath are sound. Or they might even be able to inject sealant of some sort under the slashing.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:38:00 PM EST] <Derynifank> Hopefully they can just redo the flashing and not have to do major replacement
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:38:02 PM EST] <KK> flashing
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:38:17 PM EST] <KK> Yeah, a new roof would be a bummer!
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:38:27 PM EST] <revanne> Our Church (modern 1980's build) has been cunningly designed with lots of different roof angles so whatever direction the rain is coming from it can find a way in!
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:38:27 PM EST] <DesertRose> And an expensive bummer at that!
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:38:27 PM EST] <laurna> My roof is a little different, the flashing is underneith the tiles
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:38:35 PM EST] <Shiral> Grateful that my development reroofed everything the year before I moved here. =o)
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:38:45 PM EST] <Derynifank> Will have my fingers crossed for you
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:39:02 PM EST] <laurna> There is nothing but cement tiles ontop of stringer beams no underlayment
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:39:03 PM EST] <DesertRose> LOL, revanne (at your phrasing, not the situation with the church roof itself).
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:39:06 PM EST] <revanne> Yes - hope it can be fixed easily Laurna
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:39:23 PM EST] <KK> Yike, that sounds ominous, Laurna.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:39:43 PM EST] <laurna> I am hoping not.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:39:45 PM EST] <Shiral> Eek, indeed
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:40:08 PM EST] <laurna> Just pick up the tiles. redo the flashing and then lay the tiles back down. That is my hope
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:40:22 PM EST] <DesertRose> Carys says hi.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:40:26 PM EST] <revanne> I'm guessing living in a dry climate you might not notice a problem for a while.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:40:32 PM EST] <revanne> Hi Carys
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:40:45 PM EST] <KK> Gus says hi from my lap.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:40:50 PM EST] <laurna> The tiles are 28 inches by 18 inches each
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:41:06 PM EST] Quit The_Bee (Mibbit@7F791F.1DE43C.7A71FB.75E7CA) has left this server (Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client).
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:41:10 PM EST] <DesertRose> I think the weather may be about to shift or something because she is unaccountably zoom-y today.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:41:13 PM EST] <KK> Tiles, or slates? We ehad huge slates that large at Holybrooke.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:41:14 PM EST] <Derynifank> Scritches to Carys and Gustav
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:41:16 PM EST] <Evie> hi Gus
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:41:18 PM EST] <laurna> Hello Carys, hello gus
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:41:28 PM EST] <revanne> Hi Gus
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:41:32 PM EST] <DesertRose> Hi Gus, gentle scritches to KK's faithful companion.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:41:51 PM EST] <KK> He is.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:42:00 PM EST] Join The_Bee (Mibbit@7F791F.1DE43C.7A71FB.75E7CA) has joined this channel.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:42:13 PM EST] <DesertRose> Carys is mine. If I'm home, she has to be where i am.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:42:14 PM EST] <laurna> wb bee
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:42:32 PM EST] <DesertRose> (my faithful companion, that is)
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:42:37 PM EST] <KK> Or, you are hers.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:42:41 PM EST] <The_Bee> thanks.i must hve hit a wrong key.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:42:53 PM EST] <DesertRose> Oh, in terms of who owns whom, I'm hers. :D
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:42:58 PM EST] <laurna> All my dogs have resorted to the couches today. they are not under my feet.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:44:26 PM EST] <Shiral> The Pygmy Lions are napping on my bed after an exciting morning of watching me take down all my Christmas Decorations
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:45:01 PM EST] <KK> I still need to do that. But I think one can stretch the time to Candlemas, in a pinch, rather than Twelfth Night.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:45:10 PM EST] * Shiral gives Gustav an ear Scritch
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:45:30 PM EST] <DesertRose> My sole Christmas decoration is still on my door. I had been hoping to find something wintry-but-not-Christmas to take the place of the Christmas bells until the spring equinox, but I may end up putting the fall floral arrangement back up until it's time for the spring wreath, LOL.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:45:33 PM EST] <The_Bee> When is Candlemas?
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:45:37 PM EST] <DesertRose> 2 Feb
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:45:43 PM EST] <DesertRose> Bishop Duncan's birthday, too.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:45:46 PM EST] <Shiral> I needed to do it, as the HOA around here likes at least the exterior decorations down by January 7th.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:45:46 PM EST] <Evie> You can take down your decorations to celebrate Duncan's birthday. ;-)
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:46:01 PM EST] <KK> Boo to HOA's.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:46:10 PM EST] <Shiral> And once I got started, I figured I might as well keep going.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:46:21 PM EST] <Jemler> i'm a little tired tonite. trouble sleeping last nite. see you all next week.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:46:30 PM EST] <DesertRose> G'night, Jemler
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:46:33 PM EST] <Evie> goodnight Jemler
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:46:40 PM EST] <Shiral> Well.....I kind of see the point. What is delightful in December looks a little tired in February!
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:46:42 PM EST] <revanne> Nite Jemler- hope you sleep better tonight
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:46:44 PM EST] <KK> I didn't have to do most of the decorations this year. Anna kindly took on the majority of that task.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:46:48 PM EST] <Shiral> Night, Jemler
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:46:58 PM EST] <Derynifank> Nite Jemler, have a good week
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:47:04 PM EST] <Jemler> nite all.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:47:07 PM EST] <KK> Night, Jemler.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:47:13 PM EST] Quit Jemler (~jemler@OWIRCN-54654211.oh.comcast.net) has left this server (Quit: ).
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:47:24 PM EST] <Shiral> Useful to have people around who do the job!
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:47:38 PM EST] <revanne> We took down our tree a few days ago as we wanted to take it to the cottage where we have an open fire - I love the smell of burning pine logs
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:48:05 PM EST] <Derynifank> Ooh, that sounds wonderful
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:48:08 PM EST] <DesertRose> The year after I graduated from high school, my friends and I had decided to have our Christmas get-together on the same day my mom wanted me to come help decorate the house, so I asked Mom about it.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:48:14 PM EST] <revanne> But we don't take down our crib scene in Church until Candlemas
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:48:29 PM EST] <DesertRose> She decided to order pizza, buy soda, and let us have our get-together at her house and put up the decorations during the party.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:48:36 PM EST] <KK> I understand that the elephants in one of the zoos--maybe many zoos--are eating the dried trees as a special treet, which also recycles them micely. The trees, not the elephants.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:48:38 PM EST] <revanne> That sounds good
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:48:45 PM EST] <Shiral> Smart Mom!
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:49:03 PM EST] <revanne> That sounds a great idea KK
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:49:03 PM EST] <DesertRose> Mom said it was the best ~$30 she'd ever spent on pizza, because she got eight people all around age 18, two of whom were ~6' young men, to hang up all the decs.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:49:06 PM EST] <Shiral> Recycled Micely? =o)
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:49:16 PM EST] <Derynifank> Around here they use the trees to format reefs
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:49:39 PM EST] <DesertRose> The big-cat sanctuary by my parents' house here accepts Christmas trees as big-cat toys. :D
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:49:41 PM EST] <KK> Well, maybe they'd eat any mice silly enough to take refuge in dead Christmas trees. :-)
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:49:46 PM EST] <revanne> Where's here DerynifanK?
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:49:49 PM EST] <Shiral> LOL
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:50:07 PM EST] <Derynifank> Norfolk, Virginia
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:50:29 PM EST] <The_Bee> There's a place in Vermont where goats eat the needles off the Christmas trees and the branches are then donated to Habitat for Humanity or similar organizations.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:50:38 PM EST] <KK> To format reefs? Wow, I'd never heard of that.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:50:50 PM EST] <Derynifank> They help stabilize the shoreline and keep the sand from shifting
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:50:57 PM EST] <revanne> Is that on the coast. Sorry my geography of the US is not brilliant - and North or South of the Carolinas?
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:51:06 PM EST] <KK> North.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:51:10 PM EST] <DesertRose> There's been a lot of marine-biology work and research lately into rebuilding/restoring coral reefs.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:51:21 PM EST] <revanne> Thanks KK
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:51:22 PM EST] <laurna> Right around January all the freeways get a new layer of shavings along the side of the roads. I figure that is all the christmas trees ground up
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:51:25 PM EST] <Shiral> My gifts to my cats don't seem to have been their favorite things, this year. I got this wool felt cat bed that Dmitri has used three times, the first because I put some catnip in there. And a tunnel through which they're supposed to run and play together. That one seems to have been a bust, so far.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:51:26 PM EST] <DesertRose> Virginia is directly north of North Carolina and just south of Maryland/Washington, DC.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:51:45 PM EST] <KK> Give them time, Shiral.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:51:46 PM EST] <DesertRose> Norfolk is on the Chesapeake Bay, which you cannot possibly miss on a map because that is one big bay.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:51:52 PM EST] <Derynifank> On the Chesapeake Bay and next to the Atlantic Ocean! NORFOPLEASE
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:52:07 PM EST] <Derynifank> I TRULY Ha
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:52:16 PM EST] <revanne> I was chatting to DR and Evie for quite a long time before I worked out you are in different time zones
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:52:24 PM EST] <Derynifank> I TRULY HATE AC
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:52:26 PM EST] <Shiral> That's what I've decided to do, KK. Both the tunnel and the bed are still around. I'm just waiting for them to be found worthy of use
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:52:41 PM EST] <Evie> yup, different time zones and hundreds of miles apart
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:52:43 PM EST] <DesertRose> Only one time zone difference, revanne. Shiral and laurna are two time zones west of Evie and three from me.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:53:07 PM EST] <DesertRose> ;)
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:53:40 PM EST] <laurna> we are in the sunny state. However the sun has not been out for two days
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:54:14 PM EST] <Evie> We just had sunshine yesterday and today for the first time in over a week
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:54:15 PM EST] <Shiral> I'm enjoying today though, since I can be warm and dry, listen to the rain, and not have to go anywhere. =o)
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:54:30 PM EST] <DesertRose> Time zones are a pain in the neck, though; I'm reasonably good at dealing with them because I've been calculating US Eastern vs Mountain (bio-dad and paternal grandmother) or Pacific (paternal aunt) since I was a wee Rosebud.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:54:51 PM EST] <Derynifank> Sounds lovely, especially if you add a good book
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:54:54 PM EST] <KK> That's right, you've had another Pacific storm come ashore, that's headed our way.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:55:10 PM EST] <Shiral> If it staves off more drought, I'm for it
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:55:14 PM EST] <laurna> Yes kind of a cold one too
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:55:16 PM EST] <revanne> Coming from an Itty-bitty island with one time zone it took me a while to get my head around
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:56:06 PM EST] <DesertRose> LOL, no worries, revanne. In the US, we think 100 years is a long time, and y'all in Europe think 100 miles is a long drive. :D
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:56:07 PM EST] <Shiral> And more snowpack on the Sierras is okay with me, too
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:56:22 PM EST] <laurna> Would be funny if we all turned to Greniche mean tiem.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:56:23 PM EST] <Derynifank> I do love your Itty bitty island
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:56:35 PM EST] <DesertRose> It is such a pretty itty bitty island. :D
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:57:15 PM EST] <The_Bee> YOUR ITTY BITTY ISLAND IS WHERE THE TIME ZONES BEGIN.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:57:28 PM EST] <Shiral> Dmitri has arrived to wish you all a happy mew year. Or maybe his tummy clock just went off.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:57:49 PM EST] <revanne> I've stood on the Greenwich meridan
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:57:55 PM EST] <Derynifank> Happy new year Dmitry
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:58:01 PM EST] <DesertRose> I was talking with some friends a day or so ago about travel, and I said something about how I could spend months playing tourist/historical nerd in the British Isles alone, and that's to say nothing of continental Europe, where, funding permitting, I could probably meander for the rest of my life, frankly. :D
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:58:03 PM EST] <revanne> Hi hungry Dimitri
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:58:03 PM EST] <The_Bee> haooy mew yearm dmitri
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:58:16 PM EST] <laurna> Did it give you daja vu when you stepped across it.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:58:19 PM EST] <DesertRose> Happy hungry new year, Dmitri.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:58:25 PM EST] <Derynifank> Me too zip
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:58:40 PM EST] <revanne> Lol - no Laurna. I rather hoped the Tardis would arrive but no such luck
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:58:54 PM EST] <laurna> LOL love the thought
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:59:04 PM EST] <Shiral> There's never a Tardis around when you want one
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:59:16 PM EST] <Derynifank> What is a Tariq
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:59:25 PM EST] <revanne> I quite often think what fun it would to have you all over here and show you some of my favourite places.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:59:30 PM EST] <Derynifank> Tardis
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:59:41 PM EST] <The_Bee> I was at the Greenwich Meridian once, but I couldn't figure out which was north-south D WHICH WAS EAST-WEST.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:59:46 PM EST] <revanne> Tardis is Dr Who's time travel device.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:59:49 PM EST] <Derynifank> That sounds terrific.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:59:52 PM EST] <Shiral> It would be fun to have a resident guide
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [5:59:54 PM EST] <laurna> When I find the Tardis that will be my first request
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [6:00:03 PM EST] <DesertRose> Speaking of the TARDIS, I've seen a funny story making the rounds online about someone whose cat got out of the house, and the person finally remembered that the cat liked to watch Doctor Who, so they drove around with the theme music to the show playing as loudly as possible, and lo and behold, one hungry kitty who was delighted to find his person showed up!
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [6:00:11 PM EST] <bynw> mine is missing, i have the key and i know what shape it has with the chamealion circuit
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [6:00:23 PM EST] <revanne> LOL
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [6:00:27 PM EST] <Shiral> LOL, A Nerd Kitty!
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [6:00:42 PM EST] <laurna> Too funny DR
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [6:00:46 PM EST] <Shiral> Glad the cat made it safely home, for both the cat's and the owner's sake
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [6:00:53 PM EST] <DesertRose> The cat and their person had a ritual of watching Doctor Who together; the opening theme music was basically the "let's chill in bed for a bit before we go to sleep" cue.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [6:01:07 PM EST] <Derynifank> Cool
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [6:01:10 PM EST] <revanne> sweet
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [6:01:27 PM EST] <DesertRose> Some wise acre made a remark about they'd bet at least one of the neighbors looked around for the TARDIS itself. :D
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [6:01:43 PM EST] <revanne> We watched a programme on wolves the other night and poor Cassie was very puzzled when they started howling
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [6:01:45 PM EST] <laurna> lol
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [6:01:47 PM EST] <The_Bee> I saw a car today with the slogan "My other vehicle is a tardis."
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [6:01:49 PM EST] <DesertRose> Aw, poor Cassie.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [6:02:31 PM EST] <Shiral> Now Tati has arrived to mention she's a little bit peckish
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [6:02:38 PM EST] <revanne> Yep - I think the TV confuses her because she can see and hear but there is no smell.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [6:02:58 PM EST] <revanne> Of course - poor starving Tati
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [6:03:10 PM EST] <Derynifank> Might make her think she has a nose problem
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [6:03:17 PM EST] <The_Bee> We once confused a cat by playing recorded bird calls.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [6:03:17 PM EST] <Shiral> She hasn't had a bite since breakfast!
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [6:03:28 PM EST] <DesertRose> I've seen that as a bumper sticker, Bee.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [6:03:30 PM EST] <laurna> My license plate holder says "I'm a leaf on the Wind Wash is my co-pilot"
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [6:03:36 PM EST] <DesertRose> Ow, laurna.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [6:03:39 PM EST] <The_Bee> that's what it was.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [6:04:01 PM EST] <DesertRose> The Pod-Child has all kinds of nerdy decals on her car.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [6:04:10 PM EST] <The_Bee> I mean license-plate holder.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [6:04:32 PM EST] <revanne> Time zones again Shiral - I thought for a moment - breakfast is about 14 hours ago!!
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [6:04:54 PM EST] <laurna> Lunch was about an hour ago here
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [6:05:10 PM EST] <Shiral> LOL. No. For the cats it was at about 7:30 am local time
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [6:06:44 PM EST] <Derynifank> Dinner time here . Need to go rustle up something soon
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [6:07:12 PM EST] <DesertRose> This is the back of my car, which was originally my mom's, then the Pod-Child's, then my stepdad's, and now mine, with window-decal relics of its time as the Kiddo's ride: https://postimg.cc/SJpBGfrf
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [6:07:35 PM EST] <laurna> Bynw, WOW, I get Three XP! Thank you
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [6:08:12 PM EST] <revanne> Well deserved Laurna
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [6:08:18 PM EST] <Derynifank> Love it
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [6:08:28 PM EST] <Shiral> BRB, Dmitri is now making sure I can't use my Mouse He means business.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [6:08:33 PM EST] <DesertRose> Uh oh
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [6:08:34 PM EST] <laurna> May need to buy a Fudge it card.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [6:08:38 PM EST] <The_Bee> Are those ghosts or aliens in the back seat, DR?
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [6:08:50 PM EST] <DesertRose> When pygmy lions get restless, best put out the kitty food.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [6:09:20 PM EST] <bynw> it is well deserved laurna
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [6:09:22 PM EST] <DesertRose> Glare from the way the sun hit the rear windshield. :D
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [6:09:54 PM EST] <laurna> I knew I had to write something, took me all day yesterday to come up with it.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [6:10:01 PM EST] <DesertRose> I couldn't really see too clearly what I was doing when I took the photo because the sun was so bright that day.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [6:10:48 PM EST] <The_Bee> It looks like people caught mid-transporter beam
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [6:10:57 PM EST] <DesertRose> It does, now that you mention it. :D
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [6:11:07 PM EST] <laurna> DR I think that looks really cool with the clouds as relfection
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [6:11:32 PM EST] <DesertRose> With the backs of the headrest on the driver's and front-passenger's seats and the glare/cloud reflection bit, it does look like an odd screen-shot of transporter use. :D
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [6:12:54 PM EST] <DesertRose> BRB
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [6:13:32 PM EST] <revanne> Brain zoning out so am going to transport up to bed. Night all - see you next month assuming we're on for February 3rd. I'll try and remind Demercia about early chat - I think she doesn't think that you can still use Kiwi.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [6:14:15 PM EST] <laurna> Glad you came Revanne. Stay warm and get that hot water bottle heated up

[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [6:15:48 PM EST] <laurna> the glory of the feast
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [6:16:20 PM EST] <Shiral> And they didn't even have to catch a tiny zebra
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [6:16:56 PM EST] <laurna> or mouse
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [6:17:30 PM EST] <Derynifank> Nite Revanbe. Keep warm
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [6:17:33 PM EST] <Shiral> No, they've never actually had to hunt anything
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [6:17:34 PM EST] <The_Bee> Melanta caught a mouse in my apartment once.

[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [6:25:02 PM EST] <laurna> lol
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [6:25:34 PM EST] <BalanceTheEnergies> :)
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [6:25:57 PM EST] <KK> Sorry I disappeared for a bit. Got a call from Mother's cottage from her caregiver, refused to take her meds. So I argued with Mother for some time--still haven't persuaded about the meds--and there it rests. I'll have to go down there tomorrow and argue some more, but I think she's re3ally winding down. And if she has another stroke because her BP spikes, that will be the end of it, I fear.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [6:26:22 PM EST] <DesertRose> Yikes, KK! :(
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [6:26:29 PM EST] <BalanceTheEnergies> Oh dear. Sorry to hear that.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [6:26:35 PM EST] <laurna> Oh Dear
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [6:26:41 PM EST] <KK> Yeah, can we say stresssed much?
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [6:26:46 PM EST] <DesertRose> Indeed.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [6:26:51 PM EST] <The_Bee> Sad news, KK
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [6:26:57 PM EST] <Evie> :-(

[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [6:27:31 PM EST] <Shiral> Yikes, KK
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [6:27:39 PM EST] <BalanceTheEnergies> Hello TD
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [6:27:40 PM EST] <Shiral> I hope you'll be able to reason with her
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [6:27:46 PM EST] <TheDeryni> Hi all!
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [6:27:48 PM EST] <Shiral> Hi TD
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [6:27:56 PM EST] <KK> Yeah. But she's had good innings at 93. No, meds are nasty-tasting. But something must be done. Willl try to e-mail her doctor and see what comes next.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [6:28:02 PM EST] <TheDeryni> Hello, Deerest.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [6:28:03 PM EST] <Derynifank> So sorry kk. My mother in law was a problem with med too. She never got the hang of chronic illness and that you had to keep on taking the meds. It was an ongoing battle
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [6:28:09 PM EST] <DesertRose> I think that depends on the specific medication. Anything that's extended-release or sustained-release or anything along those lines can't be broken or crushed or anything.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [6:28:17 PM EST] <Derynifank> Hi TD
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [6:28:57 PM EST] <KK> Also, Mother has always had a problem taking pills, so she does cut in half medss that really shouldn't be. But I figure it's better than not takinjg them at all.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [6:29:11 PM EST] <DesertRose> Yeah. :(
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [6:29:37 PM EST] <BalanceTheEnergies> Is the size of the pill a problem?
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [6:29:41 PM EST] <Derynifank> If they are ctushable, can do that and hide them in something like applesauce, we did that
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [6:29:47 PM EST] <laurna> I can understand that. most my family does the same thing
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [6:30:07 PM EST] <KK> Well, on that frustrating note, I'd better sign off. Will report on progress (or lack thereof) next week, at our usual time.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [6:30:17 PM EST] <DesertRose> Yeah, applesauce is generally a good medium for tablets that can be crushed or capsules that can be opened.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [6:30:38 PM EST] <DesertRose> G'night, KK. I hope LBM will listen, and I hope you have a good week. Thanks for coming to see us!
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [6:30:44 PM EST] <BalanceTheEnergies> Good night KK and Happy New Year
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [6:30:44 PM EST] <KK> Just a waste of good applesauce. We've tried that, andd she just refused to take it.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [6:30:46 PM EST] <TheDeryni> Have a good night, Katherine.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [6:30:49 PM EST] <DesertRose> Well, crud.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [6:30:51 PM EST] <laurna> I learned that if the pill has a center line it can be cut up and crushed. But no center line than you can not break it up beacuse it is time released
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [6:31:00 PM EST] <Derynifank> Hope it goes better kk and you find a solution to the problem. Good luck
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [6:31:03 PM EST] <Evie> Goodnight!
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [6:31:23 PM EST] <KK> Nighters, all. May your rest of your evening go better than mine.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [6:31:30 PM EST] <The_Bee> Good night ,KK ..Best wishes to LBM.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [6:31:40 PM EST] <laurna> Good Night KK. hoping all stays well
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [6:31:41 PM EST] <DesertRose> Yes, best wishes all around.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [6:31:43 PM EST] <Shiral> Night, KK Hope LBM will feel more reasonable tomorrow
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [6:32:00 PM EST] <Shiral> Or even later tonight

[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [6:32:23 PM EST] * TheDeryni waves
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [6:32:59 PM EST] <KK> (Also, she wants to go "home" to San Francisco, and claims to remember nothing about being part of the decision to move here. But who can afford to live in SF?
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [6:33:14 PM EST] <Shiral> Not many of us, anymore
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [6:33:20 PM EST] <The_Bee> ;(
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [6:33:21 PM EST] <DesertRose> And it doesn't seem a great idea for her to be in the Bay and you to be in Virginia, either.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [6:33:34 PM EST] <laurna> Well I would like to visit there
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [6:33:36 PM EST] <TheDeryni> That's a bummer.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [6:33:40 PM EST] <Evie> :-(
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [6:33:40 PM EST] <Shiral> Not if she won't take her medications, certainly
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [6:33:43 PM EST] <DesertRose> The outrageous cost of living in the Bay Area aside.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [6:33:54 PM EST] <KK> Nope, it would be the end of her. I certianly can't afford to be flying back and forth across the country. Plus, SF is no longer the SF she knew4 and loves.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [6:34:14 PM EST] <DesertRose> Oh, I'd love to visit San Francisco; it's a gorgeous, interesting city. But the cost of living is through the stratosphere.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [6:34:22 PM EST] <Shiral> Sounds like you're having some tough times, KK
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [6:35:01 PM EST] <Derynifank> SF appears to be for millionaires now
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [6:35:02 PM EST] <KK> Yep. Snd I doubt her olod friends are still around, plus she hasn't kept in touch with any of them. It isn't the "home" that she remembers.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [6:35:12 PM EST] <DesertRose> No. :(
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [6:35:40 PM EST] <The_Bee> :(
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [6:36:04 PM EST] <KK> But we'll cope somehow. See you guys next week.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [6:36:14 PM EST] <KK> Nighters.
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [6:36:15 PM EST] <DesertRose> G'night. Vaya con Dios.

[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [6:36:20 PM EST] <Derynifank> Hope your s
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [6:36:24 PM EST] <Shiral> But in her head, it's the place she wants to be, even if there are all sorts of sound reasons why she needs to be where she is
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [6:36:29 PM EST] <The_Bee> Take care , KK
[Sunday, January 6, 2019] [6:36:37 PM EST] <Shiral> Hope tomorrow is easier, KK
