[18:25]<KK> I've discovered the goodness of Costco roasted chickens.  Yum!
[18:26]<Shiral> They're very handy when it's hot and I don't feel like cooking anything
[18:26]<KK> Yep, and we get 2-3 meals out of one.  And Mr. Dog gets all the skin, for which he is appropriatelythankful.

[18:26]<KK> Nah, don't like fried chicken.
[18:27]<jemler> the grilled isn't too bad.
[18:27]<KK> I haven't had a chance to try it yet.
[18:27]<Shiral> What a lucky doggie Oswald is!

[18:27]<KK> We're thinking about getting him a puppy.
[18:27]<Shiral> Well if you think he could handle the responsibility....
[18:28]<KK> I think he'd be great at training a new puppy, teaching it how to be aa good dog.
[18:28]<KK> And it would be a friend for him in his declining years.  He misses Scrappy, and loves playing with other dogs.
[18:29]<Shiral> And when Oswald finally departs, you'll have the Junior Partner for company'
[18:29]<KK> Yep, and already trained.
[18:29]<KK> Realistically speaking, Mr O should have another 2-5 years, we think.
[18:30]<Shiral> Other than the Dog Days of August, how has your week been KK?
[18:31]<KK> Not bad at all.  Got some writing done, wrestled some icky paperwork into submission, went to a cool progressive dinner last night with one of the local car clubs.  (Yes, people really do still do progressive dinenrs--and it was a lot of fun.)
[18:31]<Shiral> Last time I went to one I was in College.

[18:35]<KK> Se made his appearance, and Alaric is mulling over what happened, and what it all means.  He and Duncan are on their way back to Culdi now, where Duke Andrew is dying.  But they're having an advanture; are getting to ride full-size horses rather than ponies, and are discoverint that riding all day, day in and day out,is much different from riding for a couple of hours at a time.  Can we say Sore Muscles?

[18:36]<KK> We HAVE 3 yellow cats, and two calicos.

[18:36]<Shiral> I doubt my girls would welcome a newcomer

[18:37]<KK> They've also discovered that horses are much bigger inthe barrel than ponies, and stretch different sets of muscles.
[18:37]<Shiral> They don't always even get on with eachother
[18:37]<Sarah> So I remember.
[18:37]<jemler> Do you sent each one to their own kitty corner?
[18:37]<KK> Mine would plotz if another cat joined the household.  Actually, they'd spray, which may be worse.
[18:37]<Shiral> Ew
[18:38]<Sarah> yeah..ew.
[18:38]<Shiral> No but I hardly have enough lap to go around as it is
[18:38]<KK> Thankfully, we seem to have resolved that issue.  Thank heaven for the little blue chill-pills that the vet has supplied.  They seem to have taken the edge off things.
[18:39]<Shiral> Mine fortunately don't spray, but they have little hiss and spit arguments
[18:39]<Sarah> But yeah, I have three yellow babies to find homes for as well as their mom. But im keeping the ONLY one that looks like her. Her Name is Archi.

[18:39]<Shiral>  I'll bet Alaric feels pretty proud for being able to ride a real grownup horse, though
[18:40]<KK> Oh, ours do too.  But today I had a major breakthrough with Penelope, Cameron's girl cat.  She's very distrustful of women, from when there was a female housemate in her kittenhood who abused the animals in the household.  I've been trying to get her to be my friend since October, when she arrived.
[18:40]<Shiral> Been too hot to chase each other around lately.  It's FLat Cat Season
[18:41]<KK> Today I took her an offering of peach yogurt--about a tablespoon in the bottom of the yogust pot--and she lapped it up, let me hold the pot while she did so, and didn't flee afterwards.  Major breakthrough.  I shall buy more peach yogurt, which I also like.

[18:41]<Shiral> Poor thing having abuse in her past, though
[18:42]<jemler> And if you're very lucky KK, Penelope will share it with you!
[18:44]<KK> I share it with HER.  I eat all but the last bit, and she gets to lick out the pot.
[18:44]<Shiral> Nina nas claimed the footstool of my TV chair as HERS
[18:44]<jemler> Well, she does have more feet, right?
[18:45]<Shiral> This is true, but she gives me nasty looks if I want to put my feet up. =o)

[18:46]<Shiral> Giving a cat too much dairy   wouldn't be a good idea, any way. They can't digest it as well as we can

[18:46]<jemler> when my sister was first learning to crochet, she made a small blanket. it looked like Arkansas. out dog, part terrier/dachshund claimed that for herself.

[18:48]<KK> Re dairy, depends on the cat.  Gus and Nicky are passionate about milk, and have no problem with it.  Tillie drinks it sometimes, and has no problem.  The others don't seem to care about it, one way or another.

[18:51]<KK> I've tried that catmilk that Purina does, but my cats don't like it.  And since I've never had a cat who can't deal with regular milk, I'm not worried about substitutes.  Why mess with what's natural?

[19:10]<KK> Alaric and Duncan are on their way back to Cuoldi with Llion and Tesselin, since Duke Andrew is dying.  Kenneth and Jared already left ahead of them.  The boys are riding full-size horses for the first time, and discovering new sets of riding muscles.
[19:11]<BalanceTheEnergies> Well, the muscles won't grow much unless they use them.
[19:11]<BalanceTheEnergies> How old would they be at this point?
[19:12]<KK> They've actually ridden horses before, but never for very long at a time.  I speak from experience when I tell you that a full day in the saddle, even if you're somewhat used to it, can leave you positively hobbling.  You may recall the scene in Camber of Culdi, when they're kidnapping Prince Cinhil, who's never been on a horse.
[19:13]<KK> They're about 7 1/2.
