Connecticut School Tragedy
« on: December 15, 2012, 01:38:25 pm »
My heart goes out to all the victims of yesterday's mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut.  My sympathies to those families who lost their loved ones and I hope for a quick recovery to those who were injured.
We will never forget the events of 9-11!!  USA!! USA!!

Amen to that.

I can't imagine what the families of the victims must be going through.  What a horrible tragedy.
"If having a soul means being able to feel love, loyalty, and gratitude, then animals are better off than a lot of humans."

James Herriot (James Alfred "Alfie" Wight), when a human client asked him if animals have souls.  (I don't remember in which book the story originally appeared.)

Yesterday is  very much on my mind. What comfort or solace is possible for the parents of those poor children? And the children who survived will have terrible memories to cope with.

I am heartsick at reading yet another story like this.  When will enough of us say "enough"?? This is just unacceptable.

I share your feelings.  Some of those poor teachers were amazingly brave too, judging by the stories starting to come out about how they protected the children in their classes.

As for when the US will say "enough" ... was listening to a CD of Peter, Paul and Mary the other day, and am reminded of the lyrics to Blowin' in the Wind.

I cried when I heard the story of the teacher who hid her students in the cupboards and then faced the gunman saying they were in the gym. She saved many lives with her bravery.

Such horrible events should never occur.
