[18:03] <~bynw> hiyas KK
[18:04] <KK> Hello, troops.
[18:04] <~bynw> I recommended you to my son's American Lit teacher during conferences
[18:04] <KK> Cool.
[18:04] <jemler> hi kk
[18:04] <KK> How old is he again?
[18:04] <~DesertRose> Hi KK.
[18:04] <~bynw> 16
[18:04] <jemler> looks like the brandy worked! :)
[18:05] <KK> A magical age.
[18:05] <~bynw> yes indeed
[18:05] <KK> Evie, you got some good loot this week.
[18:05] <~bynw> he's taking 2 classes at the local community college there year too, so he's getting a head start on his college classes while still in high school
[18:06] <Alkari> Hi KK
[18:06] * cynicalmedic (Mibbit@OWIRCN-91dfd534.md.comcast.net) has joined #deryni_destinations
[18:06] <@Evie> Hi, KK!  yes, i did! :D
[18:06] <~DesertRose> Hi cynicalmedic.
[18:06] <Alkari> Welcome, CM
[18:06] <@Evie> hi, cm
[18:06] <jemler> hi cm
[18:06] <KK> I like the Madonna picture.
[18:06] <cynicalmedic> Good evening, all
[18:06] <KK> And the belt.
[18:07] <KK> Hi, medic!
[18:07] <cynicalmedic> Hello, KK. How are you?
[18:07] <KK> Done any work on the horse this week?
[18:07] <@Evie> I loooooved the framed Madonna and Child. It looked like the sort of thing Duncan would have somewhere at St Hilary's.
[18:07] <@Evie> no, not yet. I'm still reading up on what to do, and I need to get some sandpaper in different grits
[18:07] <KK> I suspect it's an early Christmas ornament
[18:08] <@Evie> it is
[18:08] <KK> I usually find good angels around this time of year.
[18:08] <imladris> greetings, kk  a little late
[18:08] <@Evie> I may have found a mini-me doll that I can dress in a 1:6 replica of my Sister Therese costume. :D

[18:09] <KK> Found one at my local Tuesday Morning two years ago, made of acrylic.  Struck me as a good representation of an angel, since it's totally transparent--and we don't really know what angels look like.  It's about 14" high.
[18:09] <@Evie> LOL! Most people say greetings when they come in, imladris, not right before leaving! :D
[18:09] <jemler> then how will we tell you apart? :D
[18:09] <@Evie> Hi, Jerusha
[18:09] <jemler> hi jerusha, rehi imladris
[18:09] <Jerusha> Hi Everyone!
[18:10] <cynicalmedic> Hi Jerusha, Imladris
[18:10] * the_Bee (~the_Bee@OWIRCN-5dcf5375.ma.comcast.net) has joined #deryni_destinations
[18:10] <@Evie> The Bee
[18:10] <KK> Imladris, I don't recognize your name.  Have we met yet?
[18:10] <the_Bee> Hi Evie
[18:10] <Jerusha> Hi Bee!
[18:10] <cynicalmedic> Hi Bee
[18:10] <jemler> hi bee
[18:10] <KK> Hi, Bee.
[18:11] <@Evie> that was a Hi, btw, not just announcing you to the room. :D
[18:11] <@Evie> was distracted at the moment
[18:11] <the_Bee> Hi Jerusha CM KK and everyone
[18:11] <the_Bee> I figured as much
[18:11] <imladris> think, I was 14 or 15 when I read the first 3.... and waited for the first camber... yes, katherine   but was long ago - chatted once when you still had family in Margate?
[18:11] <~DesertRose> Hi Bee, hi Jerusha, rehi imladris.
[18:12] <KK> AAh, still have familu in Margate--my dad and stepmom.
[18:12] <imladris> Am in Melbourne,, now, but was born in Broward,
[18:13] <KK> Another native Floridian, then.  Welcome.
[18:13] <~DesertRose> Oh, another Floridian
[18:13] <Jerusha> Melbourne as in Florida?
[18:13] <~DesertRose> LOL
[18:13] <imladris> yes.
[18:13] <~DesertRose> I'm not a native Floridian (I'm another weird breed, a native Arizonan) but I live in Florida now.
[18:13] <cynicalmedic> When you said Margate, I thought of New Jersey - silly me.
[18:14] <imladris> don't know that one
[18:14] <jemler> DR, you should've taken that left turn at abuquerque! :D
[18:14] <KK> Me either.
[18:14] <~DesertRose> And derynifanatic64, who isn't here, is in Orlando.
[18:14] <~DesertRose> Or thereabouts, central FL anyway.
[18:14] <@Evie> So how are our intrepid heroes this week, KK?
[18:15] * imladris (Mibbit@OWIRCN-dd42da63.cable.mindspring.com) Quit ( Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client )
[18:15] <~DesertRose> That's New Mexico, jemler.
[18:15] <~DesertRose> Mibbit must be acting stupid.
[18:15] * Imladris (Mibbit@OWIRCN-dd42da63.cable.mindspring.com) has joined #deryni_destinations
[18:15] <jemler> phoenix? :D
[18:15] <the_Bee> I thought of Margate, England.
[18:15] <KK> They kept having interruptions.  I had to deal with a burst pipe in our cottage, and not one byt two electrical issues with the line that powers the pump on the fountain.  Not Fun.
[18:15] <Imladris> ouch   got booted
[18:16] <the_Bee> WB
[18:16] <@Evie> You need to get Alaric and the other characters to treat you to a nice birthday celebration this week, KK. ;-)
[18:16] <jemler> imladris, are you getting dizzy yet? :)
[18:16] <@Evie> ouch, lots of not-fun stuff!
[18:16] <jemler> That's right! Happy Birthday for Thursday, KK!
[18:16] <Jerusha> And hopes for many more!
[18:16] <the_Bee> and many happy returns, KK
[18:16] <KK> We're actually going to dinner at a new-to-us restaurant.  It's in a Victorian house in Harrisonburg.
[18:17] <jemler> Make sure you're carded when you go in!
[18:17] <@Evie> I'd make you a 1:6 size birthday cake, but the only color of polymer clay I've got on hand right now is translucent, I think, so that might make for ghostly looking cake. :D
[18:17] <Imladris> yes, Happy Birthday... have a friend near, you KK - is in Stuart's Draft.
[18:17] <KK> LOL.  I wish.
[18:17] <Jerusha> Would that be a snack cake, Evie?
[18:17] <KK> Stuart's Draft is <very> near.
[18:18] <Imladris> little debby land?
[18:18] <@Evie> I was going to pick up a bottle of my favorite "Fianna" wine at World Market, but then I saw that crimson and gold wardrobe, and everything else in my basket went back on the shelves. :D
[18:18] <cynicalmedic> I hope you have a wonderful birthday, KK.
[18:18] <KK> Why, it is.  My mother has been there.  THey took them there on a field trip from her retirement community.
[18:18] <~DesertRose> Yes, KK, have a fabulous birthday!  :)
[18:18] <Imladris> yes, happy birthday.
[18:18] <KK> The wardrobe is fabulous, Evie.
[18:19] <Jerusha> Very Royal
[18:19] <Imladris> Oh, Katherine, I am the one that had cold green cats... instead of your warm ones.....
[18:19] <@Evie> It cost more than I would normally spend on doll stuff, but since I could use a new jewelry box anyway, I figured that would justify a bit of extra expense
[18:19] <Imladris> ie. iguanas, and bearded dragons.
[18:20] <cynicalmedic> I love bearded dragons.
[18:20] <KK> I was sussing out the flat rate mailers at the Post Office this week, because I have two wooden wine boxes that I wanted to send you, Evie, for taking apart and making furniture.  But the large one that's deep enough is not long enough.  Grrr.  It's such nice wood, too.
[18:20] <KK> Iguanas and bearded dragons.  Cool.  Er, cold.
[18:21] <jemler> you could keep the boxes and send her the wine instead! :)
[18:21] <@Evie> I just bought a very large trifold foamcore project board that should be able to be cut in half and used as two three-walled rooms
[18:21] <Imladris> they like to snuggle.... at least the dragons.
[18:21] <KK> I could take the boxes apart and ship them that way.
[18:21] <KK> The dragons snuggle?
[18:21] <Jerusha> They like to snuggel?
[18:21] <KK> How big are they?
[18:21] <KK> snuggle
[18:21] <@Evie> that sounds nice, KK!
[18:22] * Evie tries to picture snuggling dragons
[18:22] <Imladris> yes... about  23 inches including tail....on the biggest one... and about a pound for her....
[18:22] <jemler> i never pictured Smaug as a snuggling dragon.
[18:22] <the_Bee> any pics of the bearded dragons> Imladris?  I never heard of them before.
[18:22] <Imladris> it has a teddy bear that it sometimes sleeps with....
[18:22] <KK> You could always put them back together if that's more useful.  They're the size to hold 2 bottles, and are exactly the same.
[18:22] <Imladris> yes...
[18:22] <Alkari> LOL @ snuggle Smaug
[18:23] <@Evie> could they be modified to make low book shelves, KK?
[18:23] <KK> A dragon that sleeps with a teddy bear?!
[18:23] <@Evie> like the ones in Duncan's study?
[18:23] <Jerusha> A dragon with a teddy bear.  Now that's an interesting picture!
[18:23] <Imladris> the iguana is orange... and looks a LOT like Tolkien's drawing of Smaug... she is a bit surlier.
[18:23] <Alkari> If I disappear suddenly, its because the electricians need to turn the power off.
[18:23] <Imladris> yes.
[18:23] <@Evie> LOL @ dragon teddy bear
[18:23] <Imladris> can I put a pic up at Rhemuthcastle?
[18:23] <@Evie> our dog used to be a stray, and he came to us with his own teddy bear
[18:23] <KK> Is it a proper teddy, or is it a tiny dragon?
[18:23] <@Evie> OK, Alkari
[18:24] <Imladris> a bear....
[18:24] <~bynw> Imladris: if you are a member of the forum you sure can no need to ask
[18:24] <KK> We all have pets on Rhemuth Castle site.
[18:24] <Alkari> 2 plumbers and 2 electricians here ...
[18:24] <Imladris> yes..  kk. I thought I recalled so....
[18:24] <KK> What are they doing to your house?
[18:24] <@Evie> Imladris, there's a gallery it can go in. Look at the links at the top of the Forum's main page
[18:24] <Alkari> TOTAL kitchen renovations!!
[18:25] <Imladris> ty
[18:25] <Jerusha> So you will be eating out for awhile? :)
[18:25] <@Evie> from the photos, it looks like they've gutted Alkari's kitchen and are resurrecting it
[18:25] <KK> But think how nice it will be when it's done--if you can survive the renovation.
[18:25] <Alkari> Like - rip everything out, make new doorway, all new appliances except for fridge
[18:25] <KK> Wow, that's a biggie!
[18:26] <Imladris> psst under kk's pets?
[18:26] <Alkari> Yes, I am in total survival mode.  As long as I can get to my stash of red wine, I will be fine  :D
[18:26] <Jerusha> Fianna forever!
[18:26] <the_Bee> Imladris:  there's a page for everyone else's pets.
[18:26] <@Evie> Under Fan Pets
[18:27] <@Evie> Fur Kids, that is
[18:27] <@Evie> that's the everyone-else pet section
[18:27] <~bynw> yup. my girls are there :)
[18:28] <the_Bee> and my mini-panther
[18:28] <@Evie> The photo of Gigi is from her first Christmas, but she looks pretty much the same.  She didn't grow all that much bigger.
[18:28] <Jerusha> I have to post pictures of the whippets one of these days
[18:28] <Alkari> You have whippets?
[18:29] <Alkari> Cute!
[18:29] <Jerusha> Two of them.  Cyndr and Scorch
[18:29] <cynicalmedic> I should post mine, I guess, but skip the spiders
[18:29] <Alkari> A friend of mine had a rescue greyhound and a whippet - they could really move!
[18:29] <@Evie> I'm too spider-averse to have a pet spider, but we had hermit crabs for a few years, and I named mine Shelob.
[18:30] <Jerusha> Yes, they are fast, but totally incompetant at catching squirrels.
[18:30] <Alkari> LOL
[18:30] <@Evie> Luke just woke up and is sniffing the monitor to see what he's missed
[18:30] * ArdaGM is now known as Festil
[18:30] <the_Bee> I bet they give you plenty of exercise, Jerusha.
[18:30] <@Evie> hi, Festil
[18:30] * Alkari waves at Festil
[18:30] <Festil> Hey Evie.
[18:30] <the_Bee> Hi Festil
[18:30] <Jerusha> Oh yes, whether I want it or not!
[18:30] <cynicalmedic> Hi Festil
[18:31] <Festil> Hey Alkari, TB
[18:31] <Festil> Hi there!
[18:31] <jemler> hi festil
[18:31] <Jerusha> Hi Festil
[18:31] <Imladris> they are their when they are approved.
[18:31] <cynicalmedic> I have a ferret helping me this evening - right now, he is rearranging my pencil cup
[18:31] <@Evie> LOL!
[18:31] <KK> Imladris, I know dragons don't have fur, but they can go under Fur Kids.
[18:32] <@Evie> I'm sure that's a big help, CM
[18:32] <KK> Ferrets are cute.
[18:32] <jemler> that's an official endorsement!
[18:32] <Imladris> they are there pending approval.
[18:33] <KK> I just looked at the Fur Kids area, and I think some of you are holding out on us. CM, you must get your ferret(s) aboard.
[18:33] <cynicalmedic> I have one ferret, one cat, three dogs, and four birds
[18:34] <@Evie> She's catching up with you, KK.
[18:34] <Jerusha> Does the ferret bother the birds?
[18:34] <the_Bee> Does the cat try to stalk the birds?
[18:34] <KK> We need to figure out how to post the names of the critters.  Bynw, is that possible?
[18:34] <Alkari> Gotta go - sudden 'stuff'.
[18:34] <Alkari> Bye all.
[18:34] <@Evie> bye Alkari
[18:34] * Alkari (Mibbit@OWIRCN-88dc1805.internode.on.net) Quit ( Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client )
[18:34] <KK> Bye!
[18:34] <Jerusha> Bye Alkari!
[18:34] <cynicalmedic> Not at all
[18:34] <jemler> bye alkari
[18:35] <cynicalmedic> The cat watches the birds a lot, but their cages are out of her reach
[18:35] * the_Bee waves at Alkari's departing back.
[18:35] <@Evie> There is a place to put a photo title, KK, but you have to click on the thumbnail to see the name above the large version of the photos
[18:35] <KK> What kind of cat?
[18:36] <cynicalmedic> I have a domestic shorthair cat - we rescued her. She is solid black, and her name is Whisper
[18:36] <Jerusha> Nice name
[18:36] <KK> Got it, re the names.  Thanks, Evie.
[18:37] <@Evie> I found a playscale cat along with one of those little kitty jungle gym and some kittens playing with a doormat (the same kittens Alkari sent me a few months ago).  Unfortunately the price tag was rather high for the set, so I put it back.
[18:37] <Imladris> Did anyone get to view the high altitude paradrop?
[18:37] <@Evie> and it was closer to dollhouse scale than true playscale anyway, but I was hoping the mama cat would work as a small adult or large kitten
[18:37] <~bynw> i did
[18:37] <the_Bee> No.  Did the weather cooperate?
[18:37] <KK> Better to spend your money on actual items that they need, rather than more pets, probably.
[18:38] <@Evie> yeah
[18:38] <~bynw> it was a great jump
[18:38] <Imladris> yeah
[18:38] <~bynw> broke 3 of the 4 records he was trying for
[18:38] <KK> I saw it, though not live.  Still, awesome.  I hear he proke the sound barrier.
[18:38] <KK> broke
[18:38] <Jerusha> What one didn't he break?
[18:38] <Imladris> Free fall time, I think.
[18:39] <~bynw> yep the longest free fall time ... he pulled his chute open about 8-10 seconds too soon to break it
[18:39] <KK> Brave guy.  Or dumb, to throw himself out of a perfectly good gondola.
[18:39] <Jerusha> I'll stay happily on the ground, thanks
[18:39] <@Evie> Me too. I have trouble not falling off the ground anyway. :D
[18:39] <Imladris> I believe Kittenger actually broke the sound barrier w/ Excelsior 3  because the speed of sound is slower at altitude.
[18:39] <the_Bee> What's his name?
[18:39] <~bynw> but his visor was fogging up and he couldnt see really so probably a good idea to pull it
[18:40] <Imladris> Felix Baumgartner?
[18:40] <Imladris> or close
[18:40] <~bynw> Felix Baumgartner from Austria
[18:40] <the_Bee> ok, thanks.  I want to look him up later.  Maybe he's on Youtube already.
[18:40] <KK> This is one of those things where one has to wonder, Why?
[18:41] <the_Bee> because he can?
[18:41] <KK> He should be in your home page headlines somewhere.
[18:41] <~bynw> youtube was live streaming it
[18:41] <~bynw> when it happened
[18:41] * bynw was watching it
[18:42] <KK> It looked like he got some ferocious spinning and flailing a few seconds before he pulled the chute.
[18:42] <~bynw> he was spinnig at first really bad ... thought his emergeny chute my auto deploy but he straightened himself out
[18:42] <Imladris> I just got a book on Ebay, Called Man High.  Is autobiograph of the Doctor that did the first high altitude baloon flight program in 1957. Kittenger did the first flight to about 75k feet, and then Dr. Simons went to 101k and held the record for three years until Kittenger broke it.
[18:43] <Imladris> Dr. Simons was the first person to actually SEE that the earth is curved.
[18:43] <jemler> bynw, have you ever read a book called Ready Player One?
[18:44] <~bynw> nope jemler
[18:44] <Imladris> Was on cover of LIFE magazine. three months before sputnik.
[18:44] <KK> Watching someone do this has to really give people pause who are getting ready to go EVA off a space shuttle.  It's totally against logic that one should just hang there in space, and yet they do.
[18:45] <@Evie> KK, did you happen to see this thread on the Forum yet?  I am thinking this might make some of the Mini-Deryni updates even more fun, if I can work out how to use the program better:  http://www.rhemuthcastle.com/index.php?topic=961.0
[18:45] <jemler> on the cover it says: Willy Wonka meets the Matrix. a man creates a virtual reality, and when he dies he leaves an Easter Egg hidden somewhere inside. the first person to find the Egg, wins his fortune, $240 billion!
[18:46] <~bynw> i am recommending a book right now though ... and you can get an ebook of it from amazon today still for free
[18:46] <jemler> the thing is, this guy was crazy about the 1980's. so you had to know that in order to play the game!
[18:46] * Evie considers going Easter Egg hunting. She could buy a playscale sized Rhemuth with that much cash! ;-)
[18:46] <@Evie> I downloaded the book you recommended, bynw
[18:46] <~bynw> hmmm sounds interesting there jemler
[18:46] * Imladris (Mibbit@OWIRCN-dd42da63.cable.mindspring.com) Quit ( Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client )
[18:46] <Jerusha> And Coroth, too!
[18:46] <jemler> which book?
[18:46] <@Evie> Haven't looked at it yet though
[18:46] <~bynw> Rabbit in the Road
[18:46] * Imladris (Mibbit@OWIRCN-dd42da63.cable.mindspring.com) has joined #deryni_destinations
[18:46] <@Evie> but the price was good
[18:47] <~bynw> http://www.amazon.com/Rabbit-in-the-Road-ebook/dp/B005VXJ7EG/
[18:47] <the_Bee> rehi Imladris
[18:47] <~bynw> free is always good
[18:47] <Imladris> ty....
[18:47] <~bynw> Evie: its a great book ... read it even at work, when i should have been doing something else
[18:47] <KK> Evie, just looked at that thread.  Promising.
[18:48] <@Evie> I had some trouble doing that one because the software doesn't work too well on my tiny notebook screen
[18:48] <@Evie> But on the family computer, when I can actually get to it, it would work fine, I think
[18:49] <@Evie> Luke was watching me work on it. I think he is hoping for some Luke and Gigi adventure stories.
[18:50] <KK> Shiral produces some stuff with captions.  I'm thinking particularly of the singing gargoyles last birthday.
[18:50] <cynicalmedic> I must go - my friend just sent me some revisions on his article, and I want to finish them. Have a great week, all. Happy birthday, KK - hope you have an excellent birthday/
[18:51] * cynicalmedic (Mibbit@OWIRCN-91dfd534.md.comcast.net) Quit ( Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client )
[18:51] <KK> She may just draw it and then scan it, though.
[18:51] <Jerusha> Bye CM!
[18:51] <@Evie> I'm still shopping around for software and comparison testing.  There's a freeware type one lady on the action figure forum I'm on uses for her comic strips, and I might test that one too
[18:51] * Evie waves at CM's back
[18:51] * the_Bee watches CM vanish into the distance.
[18:53] <@Evie> so with the addition of the new story material, how close are you to the final chapters, KK?
[18:54] <@Evie> New as in last week, that is, since you had all the repair stuff this week
[18:54] <KK> Just heard this pitiful, low-pitched meow that sounded like Sasha--and opened the door to the laundry room, from which he popped out.  He must've gone in there when I was passing through the loo on the other side, and I didn't realize he'd gone in there; got the door shut on him.  Must've been in there for several hours, probably happily napping on laundry.
[18:55] <@Evie> LOL!  Poor thing!
[18:55] <KK> At least he ahd the good sense to let me know.
[18:55] <KK> Evie, just some polishing this week, and some expansion.
[18:56] <Jerusha> Our oldest dog won't bark when that happens.  I found him in the cold room once, patiently waiting to be rescued
[18:56] <@Evie> Mine will meow, but Gigi is so quiet it's hard to hear her even when she's being loud
[18:56] <Jerusha> Will the battle with the Marluk be more than one chapter, KK?
[18:56] <@Evie> and if she's purring, I know mostly by feeling her chest vibrate
[18:56] <KK> Don't know yet.  Haven't gotten there yet.
[18:57] <Imladris> The dragons are quiet, but anthropomorphize quite well.
[18:57] <the_Bee> I accidentally shut Melantha in a drawer once. I   t took me a few minutes to figure out where the meowing was coming from.
[18:57] <@Evie> You could plot the Marluk battle out with action figures.... ;-)
[18:57] <KK> Do they hiss?
[18:57] <@Evie> LOL, Bee!
[18:57] <Imladris> nope.
[18:57] <KK> No sound?  THey just sneak up on their prey?
[18:59] <Imladris> The iguana is spa-ing on the warm water in bathtube... and iguanas are vegetarian!  The Beardies are more omnivore, but enjoy chasing a cricket or worm - esp. katie.
[18:59] <@Evie> I'd be tempted to get a dragon, but I'm rather fond of my parents visiting once or twice a year, which my mom wouldn't do if I had a reptile in the house.  She's scared of them. Snakes especially, but probably lizards as well.
[18:59] <Jerusha> My son has a ball python - I don't visit
[18:59] <KK> So you have two beardies?
[19:01] <Imladris> We have two.. but daughter's two are currently living here as well, Anneliese and hubby have own house now.. but her two girls haven't yet made it over.
[19:01] <the_Bee> KK, Once Upon a Time jas started.
[19:01] <@Evie> that's a pretty name, Anneliese
[19:02] <KK> Yike, yes, I just reaslized and turned on the TV.
[19:02] <@Evie> BTW, KK, there's a Silke on the forum I just joined.  I think of Silke Haldane every time she logs on.
[19:02] <Imladris> Thanks.. was my godmother's and I always thought it looked so pretty on paper....
[19:02] <KK> Gotta go.  Next week!
[19:02] <@Evie> goodnight, KK!
[19:02] <the_Bee> bye KK
[19:02] <Festil> KK, quick question?
[19:02] <Jerusha> Bye KK
[19:03] <jemler>  happy birthday KK!
[19:03] <Imladris> night, KK
[19:03] * KK steps onto her Portal, waves goodnight, and disappears in a shower of green sparkles.
[19:03] <Festil> Next week then. Have a good night! :D
[19:03] <jemler> we need someone to name a girl Sidana.
[19:03] <Imladris> yes.
[19:04] <Jerusha> I should go, too. Night everyone!
[19:04] <@Evie> I'd name a cat Sidana except I don't have room for a third cat
[19:04] <Imladris> a little late for me, I fear.
[19:04] <KK> Nighters!
[19:04] <@Evie> which side of the pond are you on, Imladris?
[19:04] <jemler> nite kk
[19:04] <Imladris> am in Florida...
