[18:12] <jemler> hi KK
[18:12] <Evie> Hello!
[18:13] <Shiral> Hello Katherine
[18:13] <Evie> we have a first-timer today, KK
[18:13] <Alkari> Welcome KK
[18:13] <Alkari> http://l.yimg.com/ea/img/-/120329/a_230312toddripping4_17n7did-17n7dik.jpg
[18:14] <the_Bee> Hi KK!  "Once Upon a Time is a repeat tonight.
[18:14] <jemler> KK, Once Upon a Time is a rerun tonight.
[18:14] <KK> Hello, folks.  And welcome, quincydew!
[18:14] <quincydew> Hi!
[18:14] <Evie> Quincydew knows someone named for two of your characters.
[18:14] <quincydew> I can't stay very long as it is early in Washington and I have much more yardwork to get done...but I have been waiting to ask you something for weeks!
[18:14] <Alkari> I am half asleep ços I stayed up to watch the Test Cricket from the West Indies
[18:15] <jemler> how do they test a cricket?
[18:15] <the_Bee> What does the Test Cricket test?
[18:15] <KK> aSK AWAY.
[18:15] <quincydew> Actually Evie, I'm pretty sure KK knows him very well, I believe he was her godson??
[18:15] <the_Bee> Whose godson?
[18:16] <jemler> KK's
[18:16] <quincydew> The cover of Checkmate bares a STRIKING resemblance to Brion Corwyn Porter.
[18:16] <the_Bee> I mean, who was KK's godson?
[18:16] <Shiral> I've heard of spelling bees, but spelling crickets?=o)
[18:16] <jemler> someone read Xanth!
[18:17] <KK> Alas, I had no control over the covers, so any resemblance is purely coincidental.
[18:17] <Alkari> Just because YOU lot don't play sensible sportsd!!!
[18:17] <Alkari> And have something like a World Series played onlyby one country  :p
[18:17] <quincydew> LOL...that is quite the coincidence! Just thought I'd ask!
[18:17] <Shiral> Actually, I play no sports at all. Team washout, that's me!
[18:17] <the_Bee> Oh, THAT kind of cricket.
[18:18] <quincydew> Am I correct that he was your godson?
[18:18] <the_Bee> Is Brion Corwyn Porter your godson, KK?
[18:19] <Evie> On the latest DC cover, Duncan bears a rather strong resemblance to a middle-aged Alec Baldwin after too many doughnuts. :D
[18:19] <KK> Sort of unofficially.  I was there at his christening.  :-)
[18:19] <Alkari> LOL.
[18:19] <Shiral> https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1Nzxx-qYV9w37W-GTNqg3E2QWjoY1IljijgI_BKvQuOM/edit?pli=1#slide=id.p The Hagios Project is proceeding Walls are now up. Now working on roofs and towers.
[18:19] <the_Bee> But you didn't have to stand up and promise anything?
[18:19] <Alkari> I once had to explain to some amazed relatives how I had even heard of the name "Alaric"
[18:20] <quincydew> Well he said to say "Hi" to you, and that you owe him an email! :)
[18:21] <the_Bee> Shiral, is that wood chips in the background?
[18:21] <KK> I probably do.  I owe lots of people e-mails.  But the taxes got done and in!
[18:21] <Shiral> Gold mosaic tiles, Bee
[18:21] <Alkari> Yay for getting rid of taxes, KK
[18:21] <quincydew> LOL...important things first! Well it was nice talking to you, must be getting back out to the yard now!
[18:21] <Evie> The Action Figure project is still ongoing--in fact, I repainted a head sculpt's hair this weekend to make it look more like Denis Arilan--but there's another project in the works as well now:  http://www.rhemuthcastle.com/index.php?topic=862.msg6121#msg6121
[18:21] <Shiral> Always a relief!.  I just had my appointment last week
[18:21] <Evie> Yay for the taxes!
[18:21] <the_Bee> Ah, ok.  They looko ruddy; red gold?
[18:22] <Alkari> I suppose I had better look out for a suitable palfrey or destrier to supplement the kittens?
[18:22] <Shiral> I took them from a mosaic wall from the Basilica of St. Mark
[18:22] <Alkari> If you are going to give him an entire castle
[18:23] <Evie> No room for an entire castle.  He'll have to  make do with the top floors of Abbot's Tower
[18:23] <the_Bee> I broke even on my taxes: I don't owe them, they don't owe me.
[18:23] <Alkari> Famous last words, Evie!!
[18:24] <Shiral> ;)Now who was telling me I needed to build a scale model of Torenthaly?
[18:24] <Evie> No, I literally don't have the space for anything more than that, so unless i clear out the room for it, i can't add more
[18:24] <Shiral> No room for  a whole castle uh-hunh....
[18:24] <Alkari> Like I said, famous last words - and a new housecleaning project ;)
[18:25] <Alkari> Just build another shed in theback yard ....
[18:25] <Evie> At the scale I'd like to make it, it would have to wait until one or more children leave home, because it would take a whole room
[18:25] <Shiral> Rig up a ceiling table hoist!
[18:25] <quincydew> Thanks KK, bye!
[18:25] <Alkari> Well, send the kids away  :D
[18:25] <the_Bee> bye Quincy dew. Come again.
[18:25] <jemler> you leaving already DQ?
[18:25] <jemler> qd, sorry
[18:26] <Evie> They're still minors, Alkari.  I think that's illegal. :D
[18:26] <Alkari> Bye QD
[18:26] <KK> Evie, is that link correct?  'Cause it isn't taking me to action figures.
[18:26] <Evie> They're still minors, Alkari.  I think that's illegal.
[18:26] <Alkari> Foster them out to some other noble household  :d
[18:26] <Evie> No, that's my newest project...the Mini-Duncan Mini-Castle Tower
[18:26] <Evie> but hang on, I can find you the updates since last week on the action figures
[18:26] <KK> It still doesn't go anywhere.
[18:26] <quincydew> yeah, i have a very nice husband out doing all the yardwork! must go help!
[18:26] <Evie> Hm.  Let me look again
[18:27] <Evie> http://www.rhemuthcastle.com/index.php?topic=862.msg6121#msg6121
[18:27] <KK> Bye, quincydew.
[18:27] <Shiral> One of the neatest things I saw in France were  models of the Abbey of Moissac and the whole Cite of Carcassonne. They were large enough to take up a whole table top, but you could walk all the way around them
[18:27] <Evie> Try that one and see if it works now
[18:27] <Alkari> Looks like we are goingto get a Denis Arilan as well as a Duncan, KK
[18:27] * quincydew (Mibbit@1526F6.F2DCC6.D7D9B4.C14B31) Quit ( Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client )
[18:27] <Alkari> At least Evie is well practised now in making ecclesiastical clothing and vestments
[18:28] <Shiral> Although in his current incarnation, I think Bradene would seriously object to the Bishop of Dhassa roaming around the woods in a VERY secular kilt!
[18:28] <Evie> and here is where we left off with the action figures:  http://www.rhemuthcastle.com/index.php?topic=844.105
[18:29] <Evie> LOL, Shiral!  He had to wear SOMETHING!  He came to me nude!
[18:29] <Evie> They don't send bishop action figures direct from the store, you know. :D
[18:29] <Shiral> "I am so sorry for my lapse of propriety Your Grace.  I seem to have lost my head..."
[18:29] * Jerusha (Mibbit@OWIRCN-d34446b4.dsl.bell.ca) has joined #deryni_destinations
[18:29] <Alkari> And my clothing
[18:29] <Evie> That line will be funnier once KK gets to the right page. :D
[18:29] <jemler> hi jerusha
[18:29] <Shiral> Hi Jerusha
[18:29] <Evie> hi, Jerusha!
[18:30] <Alkari> Hi Jerusha
[18:30] <Jerusha> Hi Everyone *waves*
[18:30] <Evie> You're right, Jerusha, after seeing Arilan's head in full sunlight, I agree the hair needs to go a little darker
[18:30] <the_Bee> hi jerusha
[18:30] <Shiral> Evie's figures are NOT actually staging a re-enactment of the French Revolution, though, =o)
[18:30] <Alkari> "My body was in another dimension"
[18:30] <Shiral> Hello Jerusha
[18:30] <Alkari> "I think it was something I did with those Ward Cubes ..."
[18:30] <Evie> LOL!  No, it's a reenactment of the Battle of Llengarth Plain.
[18:31] <Evie> Those poor Cassani footsoldiers
[18:31] <Shiral> Or maybe Killingford.
[18:31] <jemler> "Picture a journey between sight and sound. You've entered the Alkari Zone"
[18:31] <Evie> or was it Llyndreth Meadow?
[18:31] <Shiral> I think I know what you mean. Llyndruth Meadow is where the soldiers were executed
[18:32] <Evie> Someplace that apparently abounds with antelope, according to the Codex, which boggles the mind a bit. :D
[18:32] <the_Bee> Remind me: who fought which battle on Llyndruth Meadw/Plain?
[18:32] <Alkari> Well, it is an imaginary world, so it can have antelope
[18:32] <Evie> Kelson vs Wencit/Bran Coris, Bee
[18:32] * jemler sings "Home on the Range'
[18:32] <Alkari> Lyyndruth Meadows was final Kelson - Wencit battle
[18:32] <Jerusha> Shouldn'g that be home on the plain?
[18:32] <the_Bee> Ah.  High Deryni.
[18:32] <Shiral> The chipmonks and the antelope swam over together
[18:33] <Evie> No, it's "Home, home on the plane."  That's how they got there.
[18:33] <jemler> Lyndruth Maedows was Kelson/Wencit ONLY battle!
[18:33] <KK> I used an old link and I'm reading.  Looks good, Evie!
[18:33] <Alkari> And broght the tomatoes so Jass could have pizza
[18:33] <Shiral> Good thing it was their first and last
[18:34] <jemler> I wonder what happened to the four fake Councillors?
[18:34] <the_Bee> I imagine there could have been a local deer that resembled antelopes.
[18:34] <Evie> Thank you!  I'm having loads of fun and learning quite a bit about doll customization and repainting along the way. Enough to think I might want to try my hand at making more repainted doll's heads to sell on eBay or Etsy.  Some go for as high as $100 to $300!
[18:34] <Shiral> They probably started a Commune with Warin de Gray
[18:34] <Jerusha> I always wondered about them, too.
[18:34] <Evie> I am definitely in the wrong line of work!
[18:34] <jemler> somehow i doubt warin would join a commune with four Deryni
[18:35] <Alkari> They probably woke up under some bushes and wondered what they had been drinking thenightbefore
[18:35] <Shiral> And why they were suddenly buck naked
[18:35] <Alkari> Memories conveniently wiped
[18:35] <the_Bee> especially if they tried to cheat.
[18:35] <Evie> I'm suddenly imagining Warin surrounded by a bevy of Deryni beauties.  Tell me that's not what you meant! :D
[18:35] <Alkari> LOL
[18:35] <jemler> Merasha Martinis, shaken, not stirred.
[18:35] <Alkari> Is Warin celibate?!
[18:35] <the_Bee> Ask KK.
[18:36] <Evie> I don't think so. Not vowed to it that I recall, anyway.  Though yes, the resident expert on her own world IS here tonight.  :D
[18:36] <Jerusha> I wouldn't think so.
[18:36] <Shiral> Well, maybe Warin was tired of being a religious fanatic and having realized his previous beliefs were in error, decided to bag the Messianic cult leader and just go have himself some fun?
[18:36] <Alkari> Turn us loose, KK, and see what happens to your world  :)
[18:37] <the_Bee> Unless Warin was an ascetic, I'd expect him to be married.
[18:37] <Shiral> I mean, Warin wasn't exactly a lot of laughs before, was he?  Some wine, women and song was bound to mellow him out a little!
[18:37] <Alkari> LOL
[18:38] <jemler> wouldn't it be great if Denis had preformed the wedding ceremony before revealing he was Deryni? :)
[18:38] <Evie> BTW, KK, if that ever link never opened for you, I found a little "castle tower" birdhouse at Michael's this weekend for $5 that is the perfect size for my LEGO Duncan, so I brought it home to cover over with some textured "stone' walls.
[18:38] <the_Bee> I'm sorry Warin and Jehana never met.  He of all people could understand her conflicting emotions about the Deryni.
[18:38] <Alkari> Probably just as well they didn't!!
[18:39] <Evie> If that first link, even.  Helps to have a sentence that makes sense. :D
[18:39] <Shiral> But now she has Barrett who seems to have mellowed her out somewhat more
[18:39] <Evie> and another, presumably also Deryni, child to keep her occupied
[18:39] <the_Bee> or she will.
[18:40] <jemler> but Barrett having a kid at his age? did he foresee Viagra?
[18:40] <Alkari> LOL - my question too, jemler.
[18:40] <KK> Hey, he's Deryni.
[18:40] <the_Bee> Some men can function well into old age.
[18:40] <Jerusha> Or that Jehana could conceive, after all of her self torment.
[18:40] <Shiral> For a forty year-old woman to have a baby was quite a thing, in those days. I'm sure Kelson dispatched a lot of physicians to attend her
[18:40] <jemler> that's some spell! :)
[18:40] <Alkari> He and Jehana are probably quite astonished though!
[18:41] * Shiral pictures Barrett trying to remember the Cialis spell.....
[18:41] <Evie> now they need to follow up with a son and name him Harry Houdini
[18:41] <Alkari> Reckon Barrett would never have thought he'd be getting married and starting a family at his age
[18:41] <jemler> to a woman half his age
[18:42] <Evie> well, the age difference isn't so unusual for the time period
[18:42] <Evie> but yes, his age in general is
[18:42] <Alkari> I reckon the daughter needs to grow up and marry Kelric, making Jehana and Alaric the in-laws :D
[18:42] <Shiral> And the formerly Deryni-hating ex-queen. I'm sure Brion never foresaw that one, either
[18:42] <Jerusha> How old was Margaret, when she married Duke Jared?
[18:43] <Evie> in her 40s, IIRC?
[18:43] <Shiral> Forty, but she  had no children from her previous marriage
[18:43] <Alkari> Yes, Margaret was 40-41 IIRC
[18:43] <Shiral> So was probably barren
[18:44] <Alkari> or her first husband was infertile!
[18:44] <Shiral> Also a possibility
[18:44] <Shiral> =o)
[18:44] <Evie> True, but since Jared wasn't, and Margaret didn't bear him any children, the first possibility seems more likely
[18:44] <the_Bee> You think he would have admitted it?
[18:44] <Shiral> Very likely not
[18:44] <Jerusha> Not likely.
[18:44] <the_Bee> first ubby, I mean
[18:45] <Shiral> Maybe he was a teletubby hubby
[18:45] <Evie> They might not have known which one was infertile, just that they never managed to have kids
[18:45] <Alkari> Well, Jared wasn't a spring chicken by the time he married her
[18:45] <Shiral> Nope, but younger than Barret de Laney is now
[18:45] <KK> I think it's more likely that she was the one who couldn't reproduce.
[18:45] <the_Bee> But men can beget kids at a later age than women can conceive them.
[18:45] <Evie> True, but men can still father children at any age.  They don't have a menopause in the same sense that women do.
[18:45] <KK> Yes!
[18:46] <Alkari> No, but fertility drops
[18:46] <jemler> nope, there's no Men o Pause! :)
[18:46] <Evie> 10% or even 1% chance is still higher than 0%
[18:46] <Shiral> It only needs to work once
[18:46] <the_Bee> I've heard of "menopause babies."
[18:47] <Evie> My mom was conceived when my grandmother was around 50
[18:47] <KK> Oh, Evie, expect a bulging plastic mailer toward the end of the week.  I got up on my ladder today and pulled out a lot of scraps of fabric and trim, and they'll be on their way to you tomorrow!
[18:47] <Evie> Squee!!!  Thank you!
[18:47] <Shiral> So now Denis can be properly clad =o)
[18:48] <Jerusha> And more lovely gowns for Helena
[18:48] <the_Bee> Helena?
[18:48] <KK> There's some scrummy purple silk that bets to be made into a tunic, or maybe even a cassock.
[18:48] <Evie> Especially since I was looking rather wistfully at another figure this week who reminds me a bit of that young lad you thought would make a nice Kelson, and wondering if I should acquire him for the collection....
[18:48] <Alkari> Character in her latest fics
[18:48] <KK> And some very fine, silky grey that I'm sure you can find a use for.
[18:48] <the_Bee> ok thanks, Alkari
[18:49] <Shiral> Oh go buy him, Evie. You know you want to
[18:49] <Evie> Oh yes, both of those are colors I can find a use for, especially the purple.  The remnants bin was quite short of purple fabric that was suitable.
[18:49] <Jerusha> Archbishop Cardiel is going to feel left out.
[18:49] <Alkari> LOL.  Told you she'll be making the entire Rhemuth castle before too long
[18:49] <Shiral> "All my bishops are going to be better dressed than me!"
[18:49] <Evie> LOL!  I can't afford the entire cast of characters, Jerusha!
[18:50] <jemler> does Cardiel know he's related to Deryni. Richenda said he was related to her.
[18:50] <Alkari> Well, I am sure she can make a Cardiel and a Bradene
[18:50] <Shiral> Shoot, make the whole Curia!
[18:50] <KK> Related by marriage.
[18:50] <Alkari> He's related by marriage, but I assume by now he knows
[18:50] <Jerusha> Or suspects.
[18:51] <Evie> No, Alkari, not unless I can find those realistic head sculpts like Arilan's at a much lower price than usual, because Bradene and Cardiel are both too old for a Ken repaint to do either of them justice.
[18:51] <Alkari> Don't think he'd be too worried
[18:51] <Evie> and given that most of those realistic heads go for $25 to $45 EACH, don't look for the entire set of Bishops!
[18:51] <Alkari> I've always liked Cardiel and how he has worked to resolve the anti- Deryni laws and hatreds
[18:52] <Evie> because that's just for the head, and I just don't love Bradene and Cardiel THAT much, sorry.
[18:52] <the_Bee> IIRC, Cardiel was the younger brother of Sofiana and Michendra's stepmother.
[18:52] <the_Bee> or her half-brother
[18:52] <Evie> unless, of course, you are saying you want to donate their heads to the ongoing  project, in which case I'll cheerfully accept. :D
[18:53] <Alkari> Only if you make an Alaric first!!
[18:53] <Jerusha> Oh please, oh please!
[18:53] <Evie> I might have a line on an unpainted head that looks handsome and manly enough for an Alaric
[18:53] <Shiral> I think there's consensus that Alaric is needed before Cardiel. =o)
[18:53] <Alkari> lol.   Did you get my PM, Jerusha?
[18:53] <Evie> but it might have to wait for another payday
[18:54] <Evie> and also for after my parents' visit
[18:54] <Jerusha> I'll look.
[18:54] <Evie> and also for me to get enough practice with repainting heads before I try to do an entire one from scratch
[18:54] <Alkari> He will demand an appropriate ducal wardrobe,
[18:54] <Alkari> Though he is OK if you want to start him in basic black  :D
[18:55] <Evie> he'll have to share with his cousin.  I'm not going to break my budget setting up totally separate wardrobes for every figure!
[18:55] <Shiral> At least one green gryphon tunic!
[18:55] <Alkari> I'll send you some black material  :D
[18:55] <Shiral> Alaric: WHAT??? I have to dress as a PRIEST!!???"
[18:55] <Evie> LOL

[18:56] <Jerusha> Alkari - saw the PM - oh yes, I  agree!
[18:56] <Alkari> Hi there TD
[18:56] <Evie> hi, TD
[18:56] <Shiral> Richenda can attest to that.
[18:56] <Shiral> Hi TD
[18:56] <the_Bee> hi TD
[18:56] <@TheDeryni> 'owdy, all!
[18:56] <Evie> I'm beginning to wonder if my current Helena figure might end up being a Richenda instead.  I've found another one that has dark auburn hair, which means I won't have to risk ruining this one with Sharpies.
[18:56] <jemler> hi TD
[18:57] * TheDeryni waves
[18:57] <Alkari> I cam into Chat last night when I saw your message, TD, but you had gone AWOL
[18:57] <Jerusha> Yes, she could be a Richenda.
[18:57] <Shiral> See? So now you HAVE to make an Alaric
[18:57] <KK> It's just the chasuble & cope that are really priest-exclusive.  The cassock and alb can be civilianized by accessories, in a pinch.
[18:57] <@TheDeryni> I forgot to log off. Sorry, Alkari.
[18:58] <Evie> Yes, it's a good "basic black" and "basic white" set of tunics, really
[18:58] * TheDeryni sets mode +o KK for #deryni_destinations
[18:58] <Evie> pop a green gryphon surcoat over that black tunic, and it's Insta-Alaric. :D
[18:58] <the_Bee> Richenda and Jehana are both redheads, but I envision Richenda as a strawberry blonde and Jehana as a chestnut.
[18:59] <Shiral> Pretty much how I see them too, Bee
[18:59] <Alkari> Yes, I've always seen Richenda as very fair, soft gold-red.
[18:59] <Alkari> Jehana is described as having "auburn" hair, isn't she KK?
[18:59] <Evie> I had a friend in college who had what i  think of as Richenda hair.  It looked like spun gold.  Just enough red in it to keep it from being merely blonde.
[19:00] <Evie> but not enough to make you think, "oh, she's a redhead"
[19:00] <Evie> it looked like the golden part of a candle's flame
[19:00] <the_Bee> I used to be strawberry blonde when I was young.
[19:00] <@TheDeryni> No Once Upon a Time tonight, I see.
[19:00] <Jerusha> Repeat.
[19:01] <the_Bee> repeat.
[19:01] <@TheDeryni> Ah.
[19:01] <@TheDeryni> Ah
[19:01] <Jerusha> Repeat.
[19:01] <@TheDeryni> lol
[19:01] <@KK> But I <will> boogie out in time to get dinner before the last installment of Fellowes' Titanic.  Watched the 1st 3 last night.  Pretty good.
[19:02] <Evie> Any more book news, KK?
[19:02] <Evie> I take it Alaric and Duncan are still alive? ;-)
[19:02] <Shiral> Before you go, have you had a chance to look at the latest on the Hagios Project?  https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1Nzxx-qYV9w37W-GTNqg3E2QWjoY1IljijgI_BKvQuOM/edit?pli=1#slide=id.p
[19:02] <jemler> they better be since they show up in later books! :)
[19:02] <@TheDeryni> And a new member, Yulia, asked about the movie.
[19:02] <Alkari> Yes, we don't want to bve dealing with UnDead Alaric and Duncan
[19:03] <Evie> yes, we have a new member from Russia, or somewhere thereabouts, IIRC
[19:03] <Jerusha> Cool
[19:03] <Shiral> Zombie champions and King's Confessors being SO hard to control!
[19:03] <the_Bee> You mean they wouldn't sparkle??
[19:03] <@TheDeryni> St. Peterburg, Russia.
[19:03] <jemler> Deryni Undead Bishop Duncan Howard McLean.
[19:03] <Alkari> Definitely an unforeseen problem for the CC
[19:04] <Alkari> Not just halfbreeds but UnDead halfbreeds
[19:04] <Shiral> It would be hard for both Brion and Kelson to trust them so much
[19:04] <Alkari> SO now that you have killed the taxes monster, KK, are you able to do some more writing?
[19:05] <Jerusha> Would make for an interesting arcane challenge.  Fight to the death - oh, you're already dead, aren't you?
[19:05] <jemler> Duncan vs Dracula! You make the call!
[19:05] <@KK> I will, starting tomorrow.  Desk is finally cleasred!
[19:05] <@KK> cleared
[19:05] <Shiral> Duncan--he's got crosses to work with
[19:05] <@TheDeryni> Yay!
[19:05] <jemler> you cleared your desk? Will you be able to find anythiong?
[19:06] <Shiral> Any burried pussycats?
[19:06] <Alkari> rofl @ Duncan vs Dracula
[19:06] <@KK> None buried, though they did try.
[19:07] <Alkari> I do hope you have left Alaric all this time in some place that's nice, KK,
[19:07] <Shiral> Amazing how they always want to be at the heart of things
[19:07] <Evie> I think I'll have leftover Torenthi chicken for supper tonight
[19:07] <Evie> aka Moroccan chicken, but on Sundays it's Torenthi.  :D
[19:07] <@KK> He's a kid with lots of enemies.  What's nice about that?
[19:07] <Shiral> Last night, Francesca got up on my art table. So now I have 2 building inspectors
[19:07] <@TheDeryni> lol @ Evie
[19:07] <Shiral> Well, he has Brion, right?
[19:08] <jemler> Evie, you mean b'stilla?
[19:08] <the_Bee> I remember cleaning out my jr high school notebook while the family cat kept charging through the papers.
[19:08] <@KK> How are the roofs coming, Shiral?  I looked at the site during the week--yours too, Evie.
[19:08] <Evie> :D
[19:08] <Evie> I can hardly wait to see the roofs added
[19:08] <Shiral> Bit  of a hitch with mis-measurement
[19:08] <Shiral>  So I've had to do four tower sections over again
[19:09] <@KK> The side chapels look amazing.  YOu mean you have to replace them?
[19:09] <the_Bee> bummer
[19:09] <Evie> You need a little LEGO Torenthi priest in it, Shiral.
[19:09] <the_Bee> to re-do
[19:09] <Shiral>  I had to remake the "Skins" which are the paper sections I'll wrap around the four roof towers
[19:09] <Shiral> The side chapels are done except for their roofs
[19:10] <Shiral> FOr that, I'm going to get into paper mache
[19:10] <Shiral> Russian churches have VERY complicated roofs, So I've had to revise my original plans a bit
[19:11] <@KK> Easier in paper than in stone, at least.
[19:11] <Shiral> And they generally have a large central dome/tower surrounded by four smaller towers
[19:11] <Shiral> Oh goodness yes. =o)
[19:11] <Shiral> But you still need sharp exacto knives
[19:11] <the_Bee> Can you use cups or bowls as molds?
[19:11] <Shiral> The four smaller roof towers are the ones I've had to redo
[19:12] <Shiral> I still have to work that part out, Bee
[19:12] <Jerusha> Must go - I have to finish packing to go visit my Dad this week
[19:12] <jemler> tell him hi
[19:12] <Shiral> One insurmountable problem at a time! =o)
[19:12] <the_Bee> bye jerusha.  hI to your dad
[19:12] <Evie> have a fun visit
[19:12] <Jerusha> Will do, and thanks!
[19:12] <Shiral> Bye, Jerush
[19:12] <Shiral> Jerusha
[19:12] <@TheDeryni> Bye!
[19:12] <@KK> Good visit, Jerusha.
[19:13] <Evie> My parents are coming into town the last weekend of this month, so if I'm not here that Sunday, that will be why
[19:13] * TheDeryni is now known as McDeryni
[19:13] * Jerusha (Mibbit@OWIRCN-d34446b4.dsl.bell.ca) Quit ( Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client )
[19:13] <Alkari> Ack - missed her
[19:13] <Evie> They are driving here, staying until Tuesday, flying to the Philippines for almost a month, then flying back here for another two weeks in Alabama before returning to Texas
[19:13] <Shiral> I'm quite pleased with how the central dome is turning out, though
[19:14] <Shiral> I've gone through a LOT of blue and gold paint, lately!
[19:14] <Evie> That's the spiral one, yes, Shiral?  It looks nice!
[19:14] <Shiral> The spiral, yes
[19:14] <Evie> I just bought a set of acrylic paints this weekend
[19:14] <Shiral> I have new pictures to upload. Hopefully in the coming week
[19:14] <Evie> which is what I used to darken Arilan's hair.
[19:15] <Shiral> Now they call him "Painthead of Dhassa"
[19:15] <Evie> LOL
[19:15] <@McDeryni> heh
[19:15] <jemler> i wonder if Arilan everf came out?
[19:15] <Alkari> Can you do violet eyes?
[19:16] <Evie> At that scale, no, not until I get a magnifying visor and a very bright light to see the irises properly
[19:16] <Evie> They are very small.  About  the size of the letter "o" in an average sized book font
[19:16] <Evie> and the pupils are about the size of the full stop at the end of the sentence
[19:17] <jemler> .
[19:17] <@McDeryni> .
[19:17] <Shiral> Sheesh, for that you'd have to put him through an MRI
[19:17] <Evie> I might try to tint them with some watercolor pencil, since it has a fine tip and the color is translucent.  But not without the proper equipment to see what I'm doing.
[19:17] <Alkari> well, we'll just imagine him with violet eyes then
[19:18] <Evie> or I could use my smallest brush, which is how I darkened his eyebrows
[19:18] <Evie> but even with that, I need strong light and magnification
[19:18] <Shiral> A jeweller's loupe might  help
[19:18] <jemler> doesn't barbie come with tiny little lipstick?
[19:18] <Evie> The visor I'm looking at has a magnifying lens plus an attached loupe
[19:19] <Evie> not functional lipstick, no. :D
[19:19] <Shiral> Amazing how much paraphernalia you need when you start a hobbyt
[19:19] <@KK> Oh, yeah.
[19:19] <Evie> although I do plan to repaint my female dolls' lips something less lipstick looking and more natural
[19:20] <Evie> I deliberately steered away from the heavily eyeshadowed ones when thrift store shopping
[19:20] <Shiral> The deeper you get into them, the more specialized "Stuff" you realize you've just got to have
[19:20] <Evie> since I figure Richenda and co. don't wear garish blue eyeshadow
[19:21] <@KK> Probably not.
[19:21] <Shiral> One would hope not!
[19:21] <Alkari> No.  Not even in Andelon in her younger days!!
[19:21] <Evie> yes, and my budget is limited, so I'm trying to collect what I need a bit at a time, and use stuff I've already got on hand when I can
[19:21] <the_Bee> Sofiana might use kohl.
[19:21] <Alkari> Which wouldn't exactly go with Richenda
[19:21] <Alkari> 's colouring
[19:21] <@KK> There's mention of Rothana using eyeliner.
[19:21] <Shiral> Yes
[19:22] <the_Bee> where?
[19:22] <Shiral> Quest,
[19:22] <@KK> When she's being dressed for her wedding.
[19:22] <Evie> Ooh, I'd forgotten that, but will keep it in mind if I end up doing a Rothana figure. ;-)
[19:22] <Alkari> She's got dark hair and colouring though, hasn't she?
[19:22] <Shiral> That marriage was mercifully short
[19:22] <Evie> though a voice in my head just said I'm not allowed to do a Rothana unless I also make an Araxie. *sigh*
[19:22] <jemler> look at this evie: http://www.ebay.com/itm/LED-LIGHTED-JEWELERS-MAGNIFIER-LOUPE-LOOP-VISOR-SG1A-G-/380387848343?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item5890e1f097#ht_4043wt_689
[19:23] <Shiral> Don't imagine she uses much eyeliner now down at the schola
[19:23] <Evie> that's very similar to one I found earlier, also on eBay, jemler
[19:23] <Shiral> You HAVE to make an Araxie?
[19:24] <the_Bee> Kelson's Queen?  OF Course!
[19:24] <Shiral> She doesn't even  have a Kelson  yet
[19:24] <Shiral> =o)
[19:24] <Shiral> And before you know it, she'll have to make the whole post-Restoration Haldane Line
[19:24] <Evie> I'll add that to my watch list.  It's a US seller, which means it would get here faster than one from Hong Kong
[19:24] <the_Bee> ok, Kelson first, then Araxie.
[19:24] <Alkari> She has to do matched pairs.  And what about a Nigel and Meraude?
[19:24] <Shiral> =o)
[19:25] <Alkari> Oh, and of course we need an Earl Derry  :D
[19:25] <Evie> Hang on...let me see if I can find the two figures that I think would be easiest to turn into a Kelson....
[19:25] <Shiral> And a Brion and a Jehana
[19:25] <Shiral> And a Donal, and a Malcolm and a.....
[19:26] <the_Bee> and Rosenkrantz and Guildenstern
[19:26] <Evie> here's one possible...currently still in stores and therefore easy to find:  http://www.ebay.com/itm/190663260108?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649
[19:27] <Shiral> Possible, although I don't think KElson uses lipstick!
[19:27] <Evie> No, either would need a repaint
[19:27] <Evie> http://www.ebay.com/itm/230772533552?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649
[19:27] <@McDeryni> Ebay has a lot of 12" G.I. Joes.
[19:27] <Evie> That's the other
[19:27] <the_Bee> It looks kind of androgenous.
[19:27] <Evie> and actually the lipcolor on the first is the same as my current Duncan has
[19:28] <Evie> I'll have to check out the GI Joes, but they're vintage so they tend to cost more
[19:28] <Evie> and some of them look too much like they've spent the past decade chasing parked cars. :D
[19:28] <Shiral> My vote is more for the Speed Racer Ken
[19:28] <the_Bee> Do GI Joes come nude?
[19:28] <Evie> though there are some nice ones out there
[19:28] <@McDeryni> Some are expensive, but not all
[19:29] <Evie> Yes, they're usually used, and the clothing is often sold off separately since the dealers can get more from them that way
[19:29] <Shiral> Once dolls turn flabby it's so hard to motivate them to exercise
[19:29] <Evie> LOL
[19:29] <@McDeryni> lol
[19:29] <Alkari> just chase them around with a sharp sword
[19:29] <@McDeryni> Exercise? Never heard of it.
[19:29] <Alkari> Or threaten them with hours and hours of hair dyeing
[19:30] <Alkari> they'll run away screaming
[19:30] <Shiral> just wave some dolls heads on stakes at them and tell them what happens to toys that don't earn their keep
[19:30] <@McDeryni> Funny.
[19:30] <Alkari> "We haff ways of making you exercise"
[19:31] <Evie> http://www.ebay.com/itm/290557895786?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649  Possible Alaric sculpt?
[19:31] <Evie> there are just no prepainted blond male heads that look decent, so I'm looking at unpainteds for him
[19:32] <Shiral> FOr a younger ALaric, it's a possibility
[19:32] <Alkari> But are there Indecent ones?
[19:32] <Evie> I figured that one has fairly classic features, no facial hair, and looks young enough rather than middle aged
[19:32] <Evie> there must be, Alkari; I found 1:12 scale condoms on a miniatures website recently. ;-)
[19:33] <Alkari> Medieval ones?!
[19:33] <Evie> LOL!  No.  :D
[19:33] <@KK> This is openiong up a whole new world for me.  I had no idea people bought unfinished heads and then customized them.
[19:33] <Evie> At least I presume not.  I wasn't really in the market, so I didn't take a close look
[19:33] * McDeryni giggles
[19:33] <Alkari> Well, send whatever you find to Derry - sounds as though he needs them
[19:33] <Evie> The sculptor who did that one also takes commissions and will sculpt one to resemble anyone you  send her a photo of
[19:34] <Evie> but she charges $180 for a custom sculpt
[19:34] <@KK> for a mint, I expect.
[19:34] <@KK> Yeah.
[19:34] <Shiral> THat's a bit prohibitive
[19:34] <Evie> It is for me.  I don't even love Duncan enough to shell out $180. :D
[19:34] <Shiral> Time to practice with some sculpey, instead!
[19:35] <Evie> Yeah, but after making that crosier, it became evident to me that I'll need a LOT more practice before I'm ready to sculpt heads!
[19:35] <jemler> did duncan join a particular order (Jarlath, etc.) ?
[19:35] <Shiral> The Alfred Hitchcock face might work if you ever wanted to add a Hubert!
[19:35] <Alkari> lol
[19:35] * Evie dies
[19:35] <Shiral> I'll take that as a "no"
[19:36] <Evie> actually the same artist who makes that head  I'm looking at for Alaric also makes an unpainted Christopher Lloyd who looks more like Loris to me than  Doc Brown.
[19:36] <Evie> and no, I can imagine that, Shiral.
[19:36] <@KK> LOL, I think I'd better check out for tonight.  See you guys next week.
[19:36] <Shiral> Bye, KK. Happy writing!
[19:36] <Shiral> Thanks for Popping by
[19:36] <the_Bee> nighters, KK. Good week and good writing.
[19:36] * KK steps onto her Portal, waves goodnight, and disappears in a shower of green sparkles.
[19:37] <the_Bee> thanks for coming.
[19:37] <@McDeryni> Bye Katherine!
[19:37] <@KK> Nighters.
