In Zoom chat today, we got to talking about the idea of getting everyone together, more like a weekend/long weekend vacation than a con as such.

I may be able to arrange for accommodations at a fairly reasonable price.  There are several nice condo-type options in Williamsburg, VA, (see the Discord for links) as well as more traditional hotel-type options there and elsewhere.

We were thinking to keep it close to Katherine's home in Staunton, VA, so she doesn't have to travel too far.

Obviously we will need to clear location and dates with Katherine, but what do y'all think?  Throw some locations and dates in your replies.
"If having a soul means being able to feel love, loyalty, and gratitude, then animals are better off than a lot of humans."

James Herriot (James Alfred "Alfie" Wight), when a human client asked him if animals have souls.  (I don't remember in which book the story originally appeared.)

@DesertRose can you repost those links to this thread since not ever member is in Discord and even for those that are so they don't have to go searching for them too.

Sure!

My parents have a boatload of credit card points, and there are two very nice locations within two hours' drive from Katherine's home.  I'm partial to this one: https://www.wyndhamhotels.com/trademark/natural-bridge-virginia/natural-bridge-hotel-trademark/rooms-rates but there's also this lovely lodging:  https://www.wyndhamhotels.com/wyndham-grand/winchester-virginia/the-george-washington-a-wyndham-grand-hotel/rooms-rates  If enough people are interested and we can figure out dates, I can (via my stepdad) probably arrange a group rate and possibly further discounted rooms with the points.

[Snipped discussion of Colonial Williamsburg as a destination option]

Williamsburg Patriots Place:  http://www.wyndhamhotels.com/wyndham-vacations/williamsburg-virginia/club-wyndham-patriots-place/overview  Kingsgate: https://www.wyndhamhotels.com/wyndham-vacations/williamsburg-virginia/club-wyndham-kingsgate/overview  Governor's Green: https://www.wyndhamhotels.com/wyndham-vacations/williamsburg-virginia/wyndham-governors-green/overview  All three of those have condo spaces, with actual kitchens if we wanted to go that route.

Or there's Fort Magruder, also in Williamsburg:  https://www.wyndhamhotels.com/trademark/williamsburg-virginia/fort-magruder-hotel-trademark-collection-by-wyndham/rooms-rates
