KK Chat -- 11 Dec 2011
« on: December 11, 2011, 07:03:28 pm »
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:14:35 PM] Join KK has joined this channel.
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:14:37 PM] <DesertRose> Okay. Yes, seriously yum.
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:14:39 PM] <derynifanatic64> hi KK
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:14:40 PM] * Evie says hello and offers you a goblet of Fianna wine
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:14:40 PM] <DesertRose> Hi KK!
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:14:40 PM] <hygilac> Hi KK
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:14:41 PM] <bynw> hiyas KK
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:14:46 PM] <the_Bee> hello KK!
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:14:48 PM] <KK> Hi-ho.
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:15:06 PM] <derynifanatic64> MERRY CHRISTMAS!!
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:15:27 PM] <Evie> Now I'm thinking of pouring myself a half-Glogg, half-wine and pretending it's hot mulled Fianna. ;-)
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:15:29 PM] <hygilac> I'm not picking up a pick, KK, so don't go off to work
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:15:55 PM] <hygilac> hmmm. . .does Fianna mull well?
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:16:13 PM] <Evie> I imagine it would
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:16:28 PM] <the_Bee> Has anyone tried that drink they're dvertising on TV--Saronno and cranberry juice?
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:16:31 PM] <KK> I should think it would. On the other hand, it's a good wine, so maybe it shouldn't be adulterated with spices and the lot.
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:16:44 PM] <DesertRose> I bought a tea ball earlier this year specifically for mulling wine.
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:16:53 PM] <KK> What is Saronno?
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:17:02 PM] <DesertRose> Bought some local-ish wine from a winery called San Sebastian and mulled it.
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:17:24 PM] <DesertRose> Amaretto, I think, KK.
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:17:25 PM] <the_Bee> a liqueur. Amaretto di Sarano?
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:17:31 PM] <KK> I've never been a fan of mulled wine myself.
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:17:32 PM] <hygilac> Not someting they are advertising here
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:17:37 PM] <DesertRose> Amoretto? Sp?
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:17:50 PM] <Evie> Amaretto
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:18:03 PM] <the_Bee> Do they like dry wines or sweet wines in the 11 kingdoms?
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:18:05 PM] <Evie> Yummy almond goodness
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:18:15 PM] <DesertRose> Okay. My brain is fried from studying today. I've spelled so many medical terms today that I can't seem to spell anything else.
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:18:21 PM] <KK> Ah, if Sarano is Amaretto, then I'd like it! Not too sure about it with cranberry, but maybe....
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:18:51 PM] <Evie> Whether they prefer dry or sweet in the Eleven Kingdoms, my taste buds definitely prefer sweet
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:18:58 PM] <KK> I've not seen it either, and I think I'd remember if it's an amaretto.
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:19:00 PM] <hygilac> um. . doesn't sound to my liking
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:19:17 PM] <KK> Sweet-ish, I should think.
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:19:19 PM] <the_Bee> I'm not sure Saronno is the same as Amaretto
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:19:29 PM] <DesertRose> You'd like the San Sebastian stuff, then, Evie. It's quite sweet. A little too sweet for me, actually, although it mulls nicely.
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:19:44 PM] <Evie> I think we have a bottle of Amaretto di Saronno (sp?)
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:19:50 PM] <Evie> It's one of my DH's favorites
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:20:08 PM] <KK> Mulled wine should be sweet, but that could be because of adding surar or honey.
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:20:28 PM] <the_Bee> Sweet drinks seem to be coming back into fashion around here. Fruity drinks.
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:20:40 PM] <DesertRose> I can take sweet mulled wine, but just for drinking, I like my wines semi-dry.
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:20:44 PM] <hygilac> The original Amaretto Liqueur, Amaretto di Saronno takes it's name from it's roots in Saronno, Italy. Read more: Amaretto Di Saronno® liqueur information http://www.drinksmixer.com/desc154.html#ixzz1gH7deYhE
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:20:58 PM] <hygilac> Direct from the webpage
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:21:25 PM] <the_Bee> The commercials just say "Saronno" and cranberry.
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:21:29 PM] <KK> Well, now we know. Is it made from a grape wine or what?
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:22:32 PM] <DesertRose> The San Sebastian wines are made from native grapes, muscadines. Big ol' fat grapes, too.
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:22:57 PM] <hygilac> No idea, but a glass of wine does sound good about now
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:23:05 PM] <derynifanatic64> :D
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:23:11 PM] <Evie> I'm in love with Olive Garden's Roscato wine (a red moscato), but they don't just sell it by the bottle unopened. :-(
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:23:18 PM] <DesertRose> I do like their sparkling wine. It tastes just like ripe muscadines, except chilled and bubbly.
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:23:22 PM] <Evie> and I rarely ever eat at Olive Garden
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:23:23 PM] <derynifanatic64> NOOOO!!!
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:23:35 PM] <hygilac> Though I fear Kiera would upset it if I borought it in here
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:23:39 PM] <Evie> No, DF? :D
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:24:02 PM] <derynifanatic64> olive garden doesn't sell that wine you like
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:24:30 PM] <the_Bee> Do they sell any wines to go?
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:24:37 PM] <jemler> hi kk
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:24:43 PM] <Evie> Ah. Well, I understand they'll sell the bottle, but only if you open it on the premises first. Has something to do with their license.
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:25:01 PM] <KK> Makes sense.
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:25:05 PM] <DesertRose> Olive Garden, years ago, made a mixed drink this time of year consisting of Captain Morgan's spiced rum and hot buttered cider.
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:25:07 PM] <Evie> If you buy a bottle for your table, you can have one glass there and take the rest home, and they can sell it legally that way
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:25:15 PM] <the_Bee> They're not licensed as a package store, maybe?
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:25:16 PM] <DesertRose> It was delicious, and I don't know why they quit doing it.
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:25:21 PM] <Evie> exactly, Bee
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:25:58 PM] <Evie> too many customers calling out "Arrr, matey!" after drinking it, DR?
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:26:04 PM] <DesertRose> LOL, I don't know.
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:26:08 PM] <the_Bee> spiced rum and cider? sounds yummy
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:26:12 PM] <DesertRose> It was.
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:26:19 PM] <derynifanatic64> or raising one leg in the air
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:26:27 PM] <DesertRose> It was served with a cinnamon stick to stir it with.
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:26:29 PM] <Evie> attached or unattached, DF?
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:26:35 PM] <derynifanatic64> either
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:26:43 PM] <hygilac> LOL
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:26:47 PM] <KK> We don't have Olive Garden hereabouts. I think the nearest one may be in Roanoke.
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:26:53 PM] <Evie> or if you accidentally swallowed the cinnamon stick, your peg-leg could serve as a stirrer as well
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:27:05 PM] <derynifanatic64> :D
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:27:16 PM] <Evie> Or a hook
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:27:19 PM] <DesertRose> LOL
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:27:29 PM] <Evie> though I couldn't wear a hook, since I wear contact lenses. ouch. :D
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:27:34 PM] <hygilac> KK, have you sampled the wines made a Monticello
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:27:35 PM] <DesertRose> Seriously.
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:27:56 PM] <KK> A few. We had a nice dessert wine from there a year or two back.
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:28:25 PM] <DesertRose> I'd like to go back to Biltmore Estate and sample their wines, now that I'm old enough.
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:28:41 PM] <DesertRose> The last time I was there, I was about 14, so I was too young for the wine tasting, but the grape juice was fabu.
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:28:43 PM] <Evie> Ooh, I'd go with you, DR. I haven't been to Biltmore since DS was a toddler!
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:28:47 PM] <KK> Sampled a nice white from Ox-Eye Winery a few weeks back. Their read was kack, though.
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:29:03 PM] <the_Bee> I like dessert wines, not sure anyone else in myfamily does.
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:29:16 PM] <KK> red was kack
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:29:36 PM] <hygilac> We have a local winery that was on the Fall Farm Tour; unfortunately we went on the Sunday tour and missed the wine sampling!
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:29:49 PM] <DesertRose> Bummer.
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:29:53 PM] <Evie> One of my best friends and I had a "women's weekend out" in Asheville and spent an entire day touring the Biltmore Estate
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:29:58 PM] <DesertRose> Oh cool.
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:30:12 PM] <KK> The day we went there, it was sooooo hot.
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:30:18 PM] <DesertRose> In Asheville?
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:30:21 PM] <DesertRose> Wow.
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:30:33 PM] <KK> But that's when I discoverd Moose Tracks ice cream. Yum!
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:30:41 PM] <Evie> :D
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:30:42 PM] <DesertRose> Oh, yeah. Serious yum. :)
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:30:44 PM] <derynifanatic64> ICE CREAM!!
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:30:54 PM] <hygilac> must have been the same time my nephew was in Gatlinburg. They about melted, they said
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:31:08 PM] <Evie> I just realized, we didn't even have to set up the ice cream ritual summoning spell to bring KK here tonight!
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:31:21 PM] <KK> This would have been in about 2004 or so.
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:31:40 PM] <DesertRose> When I was there, it was quite cool, and it was June. I was a little disappointed because it was too cool to go swimming.
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:32:01 PM] <KK> I think we were there in July. BOund to be hot.
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:32:02 PM] <Evie> We went sometime in the spring, I think. It was warm but not hot, and the gardens were in bloom
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:32:04 PM] <jemler> I came upon a roadkill deer, and lifted him off the road. We'll all enjoy a Christmas feast of Bambi sloppy joes.
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:32:07 PM] <DesertRose> Very pleasant weather for walking around Biltmore though.
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:32:19 PM] <DesertRose> jemler!
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:32:21 PM] * Evie smacks jemler with a mackerel so often, she's created a macro for it. *thwack!*
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:32:37 PM] <Evie> he just missed his fish thwacking
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:32:41 PM] <derynifanatic64> granny clampett would've loved jemler
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:32:43 PM] <DesertRose> Apparently.
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:32:45 PM] <hygilac> The NC and Tennessee mountains are relatively cool in July as a rule
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:32:48 PM] <KK> What a waste of Bambi. Venison should be in haunches.
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:32:49 PM] <jemler> I know I'm gonna catch it when the fish gets back!
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:33:03 PM] <the_Bee> Before I'd eat roadkill, I'd want to know how long it had been lying in the road.
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:33:21 PM] <KK> Well, yes.
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:33:25 PM] <Evie> what he didn't mention was that he'd just turned the Bambi into roadkill
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:33:31 PM] <Evie> so he was still fresh
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:33:33 PM] <hygilac> or steaks
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:33:36 PM] <DesertRose> There's a mental image I could do without.
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:33:37 PM] <Evie> Bambi, that is, not jemler, who is always fresh
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:33:39 PM] <the_Bee> and if it had been struck or squashed.
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:33:51 PM] <DesertRose> I've had venison kebabs.
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:34:03 PM] <jemler> Be careful of those gravel bits, they really get stuck in your teeth. We'll place the antlers from his head, upon our holiday wreathe.
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:34:04 PM] <KK> They don't usually get squashed, unless it's by a semi.
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:34:29 PM] * DesertRose thwacks jemler upside the head with a trout.
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:34:29 PM] <KK> They do sometimes charge cars, though.
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:34:38 PM] <the_Bee> I heard somewhere that in Vermont you can eat roadkill, but not if you killed it.
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:34:44 PM] <derynifanatic64> try a big catfish
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:35:02 PM] <DesertRose> Yeah, I bet the whiskers of a big catfish would leave welts on his face, though.
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:35:03 PM] <Evie> we just did some Christmas shopping at the Bass Pro Shop. They have stuffed ( as in stuffed animal) "deer heads" and "moose heads" for hanging on children's bedroom walls. Fl
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:35:12 PM] <Evie> Floppy felt antlers and all
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:35:23 PM] <DesertRose> How redneck is that?! :D
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:35:33 PM] <derynifanatic64> very!!
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:35:43 PM] <Evie> Almost as much as the "redneck wine glass" I threatened to get for DS. A Mason jar on a stem. :D
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:35:44 PM] <jemler> is Floppy one of the seven dwarfs?
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:35:58 PM] <DesertRose> Then again, I live in Jacksonville, so I should know redneck when I see it.
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:36:00 PM] <bynw> Evie: see PM when you get a chance
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:36:06 PM] <the_Bee> no, he's Happy's secret lover.
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:36:15 PM] <DesertRose> LOL
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:36:22 PM] <jemler> with a name like Floppy?!
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:36:29 PM] <Evie> If he's Floppy, I'm not sure Happy is too Happy
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:36:29 PM] <derynifanatic64> now they live in storybrooke maine
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:36:30 PM] <DesertRose> jemler! Don't go there.
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:36:30 PM] <jemler> Happy ain't so Happy!
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:36:48 PM] * DesertRose shakes her head. They went there, right enough.
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:36:56 PM] <the_Bee> I meant to say "she"
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:36:57 PM] <derynifanatic64> get the fish launcher out again
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:36:59 PM] <Evie> Great minds think alike, but alas, then there's mine and jemlers. *shakes head sadly*
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:36:59 PM] <KK> Hey, my mind ws headed into the same gutter....
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:37:09 PM] <DesertRose> LOL
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:37:17 PM] <DesertRose> bynw's going to come smack us all with fish in a second.
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:37:23 PM] <bynw> lol
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:37:32 PM] <derynifanatic64> ;)
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:37:40 PM] <bynw> i'm with you all with my mind in the same gutter ... we are all just bad
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:37:42 PM] <jemler> DR, you're a parent! Don't you remember the first rule? If someone tells you NOT to do something, DO IT ANYWAY!
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:37:54 PM] <DesertRose> Seriously.
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:37:55 PM] <the_Bee> KK, I'm giving my grandniece Deryni Rising for Christmas.
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:38:17 PM] <KK> Excellent!
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:38:25 PM] <derynifanatic64> another new fan!!
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:38:37 PM] <DesertRose> How old is your grandniece, Bee?
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:38:38 PM] <the_Bee> She 's the 10-yr-old I was talking about last week.
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:38:44 PM] <DesertRose> Oh, okay. Cool.
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:38:51 PM] <bynw> but then when i do see the name Floppy, I also think of this since I am from Iowa: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Floppy_Show
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:39:09 PM] <Evie> I've been listening to QFSC in the car recently, so DD has caught bits of it when she rides with me
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:39:18 PM] <the_Bee> or Flopsy, Mopsy, Cottontail and Peter.
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:39:52 PM] <DesertRose> DD is old enough to read the Deryni books.
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:40:06 PM] <DesertRose> My DD probably ought to read them, too. She's well past old enough.
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:40:21 PM] <DesertRose> But first I have to beat her silly for losing my Latin dictionary.
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:40:24 PM] <hygilac> YOu guy would have to talk about fish
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:40:35 PM] <Evie> She is, but she's a reluctant reader who only reads if she finds a series she really likes enough to follow, and it's hard to get her hooked on one enough to want to read more
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:40:41 PM] <DesertRose> Oh dear.
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:40:49 PM] <hygilac> Chloe and Kiera came hunting for a spare trout or mackerel
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:40:57 PM] <DesertRose> Okay. My DD likes to read, so it's easy to hook her into a new series.
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:40:59 PM] <the_Bee> Nora likes fantasy--she's a big Harry Potter fan; her mother used to read them to her.
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:41:17 PM] <DesertRose> Nora is your niece?
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:41:27 PM] <the_Bee> yes.
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:41:31 PM] <DesertRose> Or grandniece, rather?
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:41:38 PM] <DesertRose> I like the name. :D
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:42:06 PM] * jemler is shocked :)
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:42:40 PM] * DesertRose thwacks jemler with a catfish, whiskers be damned.
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:42:41 PM] <DesertRose> :)
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:42:47 PM] * Evie smacks jemler with a mackerel so often, she's created a macro for it. *thwack!*
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:42:48 PM] <the_Bee> Rleanor Cady Kepler. for Eleanor Roosevelt, Elizabeth Cady Stanton, and Nora Charles from the Thin Man movies.
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:42:55 PM] <DesertRose> LOL
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:43:02 PM] <the_Bee> grandniece.
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:43:05 PM] <Evie> when you're done with the mackerel, jemler, pass it on to Chloe and Kiera
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:43:20 PM] <DesertRose> Did we lose KK?
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:43:23 PM] <KK> I've recently been introduced to a brilliant mystery series set in the time of Henry VIII. Main character is a lawyer named Matthew Shardlake, who is a hunchmack. He works for Cromwell and the king. Sanson is the author (a retired barrister in the UK) and the first book is Dissolution. Second is Dark Fire, which I'm about to finish. THere are at least 3 others in the series.
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:43:28 PM] <DesertRose> Oh, no. There she is. :D
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:43:31 PM] <jemler> who are they? Dopeys lovers?
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:43:49 PM] <Evie> Ooh, I'll have to look for that. I love historical mystery books
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:43:51 PM] <DesertRose> Ooh, cool, KK.
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:44:08 PM] <KK> Very, very well written, and great Tudor background.
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:44:09 PM] <hygilac> Titles, KK?
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:44:09 PM] <the_Bee> According to her mother, another grandniece loves to read, but "I never know from one minute to the naext what she'll be into."
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:44:32 PM] <KK> Dissolution, Dark Fire, et al.
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:44:58 PM] <hygilac> I think I saw one touted as a kindle book pick
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:45:07 PM] <Evie> I like Tudors/Elizabethans, although thanks to a certain series I've been reading lately *coughderynicough* I've been doing more reading and research in earlier periods lately
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:45:08 PM] <the_Bee> Thee are several mystery series set in Elizabeth I's time.
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:45:12 PM] <hygilac> I got a new Kindle Fire
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:45:13 PM] <KK> Dissolution refers to the monasteries; Dark Fire is about looking for formula for Greek Fire as a weapon.
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:45:23 PM] <DesertRose> Cool.
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:45:29 PM] <DesertRose> I just looked them up on Amazon.
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:45:42 PM] <DesertRose> I might have to see if my used book shop has them.
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:45:56 PM] <Evie> Oh, KK, that somehow managed to remind me of a question I had for you1
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:46:04 PM] <KK> OK
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:46:23 PM] <Evie> i just bought the poster sized map of the Eleven Kingdoms, with the lovely little mini-maps of Rhemuth and the Cathedral of St. George
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:46:28 PM] <the_Bee> ?me is trying to remember which author has a charaacter named Ursula Blanchard who work for Elizabeth I.
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:47:04 PM] <Evie> and I noticed when you look at the map detail in close up, it looks like it was originally printed on fabric before the art was photographed for the poster. Do you happen to know if the original was on fabric?
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:47:44 PM] <jemler> Bee, its Fiona Buckley
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:48:04 PM] <the_Bee> oh yes, thanks. TheQueen's spy.
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:48:23 PM] <KK> Martine Lynch did the graphic designs on computer, with much to and fro with me. I think the background is meant to suggest parchment..
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:48:42 PM] <derynifanatic64> interesting
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:49:17 PM] <Evie> and yes, it does look like parchment unless you're looking at it extremely closely. But then you get bits that I swear look almost embroidered. :D
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:49:26 PM] <Evie> must just be a trick of the printing, then
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:49:31 PM] <bynw> well most go play taxi for 15 year old .... cant wait until jan when 15 becomes 16
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:49:33 PM] <Evie> or the texture set used to create the graphic
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:49:41 PM] <DesertRose> See you, bynw. Drive safely.
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:49:47 PM] <the_Bee> seeya bynw.
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:49:49 PM] <derynifanatic64> have fun
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:49:53 PM] <Evie> bye bynw
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:50:08 PM] <jemler> nite bynw
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:50:18 PM] <KK> Nighters, Bynw.
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:50:31 PM] <jemler> KK 10 more min until 'Once upon a time'
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:50:37 PM] <hygilac> bye bynw
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:50:39 PM] <derynifanatic64> can't wait
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:50:46 PM] <KK> Yep, I'm still watching, so far.
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:50:54 PM] <Evie> There is one building on the Cathedral blueprint that is numbered on the map but not on the key (maybe #19?) i think it must be a cow byre, though, since it's right next to something that's marked as a dairy.
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:50:57 PM] <jemler> i'm recording.
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:50:58 PM] <hygilac> Anyone here watch Grimm?
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:51:12 PM] <KK> Have missed a few, but I like it.
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:51:22 PM] <the_Bee> I've taped all, watched one or two.
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:51:32 PM] <hygilac> I'm recording as well
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:51:55 PM] <jemler> after once upon a time, comes leverage!
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:51:55 PM] <the_Bee> Grimm seems to be having trouble finding a regular timeslot.
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:52:07 PM] <hygilac> Yes, unfortunately
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:52:12 PM] <jemler> its future is Grimm? :)
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:52:14 PM] <hygilac> it's good though
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:52:21 PM] <Evie> Gigi has expressed her disapproval of video games being out of place on the corner table by knocking them to the floor and looking up at me accusingly. :D
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:52:29 PM] * DesertRose thwacks jemler with a mackerel.
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:52:32 PM] <hygilac> Where's that catfish when you need one?
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:52:36 PM] * Evie loads up a catapult with a basket of sardines and lays siege to jemler's head
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:52:37 PM] <derynifanatic64> :s
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:53:08 PM] <DesertRose> Seriously.
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:53:12 PM] <jemler> enough with the fish, throw some chips~ :)
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:53:14 PM] <KK> 19. may be stable; I don't see any other.
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:53:44 PM] <Evie> the stables are lower down, near the Archbishop's palace and gatehouse
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:53:59 PM] <Evie> (she says, going from memory since the map isn't in this room. :D)
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:53:59 PM] <KK> Ah, then probably cow byre.
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:54:09 PM] <the_Bee> if it's near the dairy, cow byre makes sense.
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:54:17 PM] <Evie> (sad, isn't it, that I've memorized the map? ;-) )
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:54:25 PM] <KK> Not sad at all.
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:54:36 PM] <derynifanatic64> of course not
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:54:43 PM] <DesertRose> Not sad.
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:54:45 PM] <the_Bee> How goes the current book, KK?
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:54:59 PM] <Evie> I noticed a tiny niche in the wall of Cardiel's apartments that I suspect has to be a garderobe, unless he has a Transfer Portal that he and 2 centuries of Archbishops are unaware of
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:55:02 PM] <KK> It's progressing. De Nore has just been elected Archbishop.
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:55:18 PM] <KK> Garderobe.
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:55:23 PM] <jemler> when i was in high scholl, my teacher got me hooked on Tolkien, he had a map of middle-eartth that was written in Elvish. i've never seen another
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:55:29 PM] <Evie> but the Auxiliary Bishop's tower seems to lack such a convenience, so I assume Duncan just aims out the nearest window. ;-) (just kidding!)
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:55:37 PM] <DesertRose> EVIE!!! :D
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:55:47 PM] <derynifanatic64> :(
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:55:57 PM] <KK> There are chamber pots and close stools, where there isn't a garderobe.
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:56:16 PM] <DesertRose> I'd love to see a map of Middle-Earth written in Elvish. That would be super cool.
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:56:19 PM] <Evie> I got hooked on LOTR in part because the book in the library had a map, Jemler.
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:56:24 PM] <hygilac> of courxe there are
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:56:35 PM] <Evie> a lovely fold out map with Elvish runes, IIRC
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:56:44 PM] <DesertRose> I have a beautiful edition of LOTR with gilded pages and a built-in ribbon bookmark.
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:56:44 PM] <hygilac> I have a furry wrist warner now
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:56:45 PM] <jemler> he said he got it in colorado, but couldn't remember where.
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:56:51 PM] <hygilac> hard to tuype
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:57:00 PM] <derynifanatic64> obvously
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:57:07 PM] <jemler> you could go blind doing that, hygilac! :)
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:57:09 PM] <DesertRose> LOL, okay, hygilac. We'll know to blame the typos on the kitteh, then.
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:57:38 PM] <KK> I had one on my lap for a while, but he's left now.
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:57:45 PM] <DesertRose> Which one, Gus?
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:57:47 PM] <the_Bee> Gus?
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:57:50 PM] <KK> Yep.
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:57:54 PM] <Evie> My furry wrist warmer decided to go elsewhere since it's harder for him to balance on my wrists when I don't have my lap desk
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:57:55 PM] <DesertRose> Great minds, Bee.
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:58:00 PM] <hygilac> nah--I'm not always impeded by a cat, and I still make typos!
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:58:22 PM] <Evie> how is Alaric doing this week, KK?
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:58:24 PM] <DesertRose> Yes, but when you ARE impeded by the cat, you can blame the typos on the kitteh. :D
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:58:24 PM] <hygilac> but she is feeling neglected; I've been in here more than an hour!
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:58:36 PM] <DesertRose> I miss having kittehs.
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:58:44 PM] <derynifanatic64> awe
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:59:07 PM] <Evie> I ended up getting a free LOLcat app for my phone to feed my kitteh addiction when away from home. ;-)
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:59:15 PM] <jemler> kk, once upon a time coming on
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:59:15 PM] <derynifanatic64> :D
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:59:24 PM] <derynifanatic64> just about to start
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:59:33 PM] <hygilac> I love me some kitties
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:59:34 PM] <DesertRose> I get my kitteh fix by visiting my parents.
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:59:35 PM] <KK> Yep, better go.
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:59:46 PM] <DesertRose> Okay, KK, thanks for dropping by. See you next week?
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:59:51 PM] <the_Bee> nighters and good week, KK
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [07:59:52 PM] <hygilac> me too

[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [08:00:40 PM] * KK steps onto her Portal, waves goodnight, and disappears in a shower of green sparkles.
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [08:00:47 PM] <KK> Nighters.
[Sunday, December 11, 2011] [08:01:19 PM] Quit KK has left this server (Quit: ).
"If having a soul means being able to feel love, loyalty, and gratitude, then animals are better off than a lot of humans."

James Herriot (James Alfred "Alfie" Wight), when a human client asked him if animals have souls.  (I don't remember in which book the story originally appeared.)
