[18:08] <.KK> The tower is not yet inhabitable.  (That's what we're calling Scott's new office suite, since it's in the highest part of the house, third of three rooms above the kitchen.

[18:08] <.KK> We're about ready to start decorating in the main house, barring the dining room--though at least that has a celing again now, for the first time in 30 years.

[18:09] <.KK> Hope to start reroofing the west wing in another 2 weeks.

[18:10] <Laura> yes they are great.  I have a cabin on the Mississippi that is currently growing mushrooms in the living room because the guy who was supposed to be taking care of it while I was in germany didn't and the ceiling is in ruins now

[18:13] <.KK> Tonight, though, we took Melissa to a really great new restaurant down on the seafront.

[18:13] <Barticus> they haven't really gave a real date on when we leave for training

[18:13] <kirienne> new restaurants are fun to try, waterfront sounds like a fun place to go
[18:14] <Laura> when I went in '01, they didnt let us know the actual date until the day before we left
[18:14] <.KK> It isn't what it sounds.  It's right on the beach, along the esplanade.

[18:15] <@Wrengl> she is coming to see our jewelry as i am having a front yard jewelry sale to show off to the neighbors

[18:15] <Laura> and her jewelry is waaaaaaaay to tempting

[18:15] <@Wrengl> she lost everything in the freezer and no electricity for 36 hours

[18:16] <kirienne> Jasta was online with power yesterday

[18:16] <@Wrengl> have not heard from rebecca or helenmary or emily
[18:16] <@Wrengl> martine lost power for awhile also
[18:16] <the_Bee> wh o had no wind or rain, but lost power anyway?
[18:17] <@Wrengl> we lost a couple of tree limbs but otherwise nothing here
[18:17] <@Wrengl> we had wind
[18:17] <.KK> It looks like it was a pretty rainy storm in some places; it cut Hatteras Island, I think it was, in two.
[18:17] <@Wrengl> Dan came through okay also
[18:17] <Maele> We were so far north, all it did was send a few extra
planes to our airport.
[18:17] <@Wrengl> hatteras is now three islands
[18:17] <Mistyck> yikes!
[18:18] <kirienne> yikes indeed
[18:18] <@Wrengl> have not heard from harvey either
[18:18] <.KK> I saw a photo in the NY times.

[18:19] <@Wrengl> we went over to the mainland on the last bridge instead of going on the ferry
[18:19] <barbmc> If he's in the Norfolk / VA Beach area he may not have power yet
[18:19] <.KK> Storm seems to have been very selective in some places, trashing some houses and leaving others untouched on the same street.

[18:19] <@Wrengl> those storms are kinda fickle
[18:20] <barbmc> There were embedded tornadoes - that's a typical sign
[18:20] <.KK> Yea, verily--saith the lady who was born during a hurricane....

[18:21] <.KK> Well, I'm glad that none of our folk seem to have sustained <too> much damage.

[18:22] <kirienne> Me too, I was constantly thinking about all my chat friends who are in the storms path, many prayers were said :-)
[18:23] <.KK> Well, Melissa and I are sitting here yawning, with our tummies fully of good dinner, so I think we're giong to turn in. Tomorrow, she's off to explore in Dublin, I think.  And today she showed me the art she made while in Italy.  :-)
