[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:26:11 PM EDT] <DesertRose> KK, Shiral was casting a ward of hot fudge sauce and candies from the ice cream sundae bar!
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:26:17 PM EDT] <Jerusha> The hot fudge ward worked
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:26:28 PM EDT] <DesertRose> So dessert works as a Summoning spell. :D
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:26:35 PM EDT] Quit Derynifank (Derynifank@OWIRCN-dc339139.hr.cox.net) has left this server (Quit: http://www.kiwiirc.com/ - A hand crafted IRC client).
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:26:35 PM EDT] <KK> Hmmm, I'll have to keep that in mind.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:26:41 PM EDT] <Jerusha> Absolutely
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:26:44 PM EDT] <Jemler> no, it was the butter-pecan ice cream.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:26:45 PM EDT] <bynw> hi KK
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:26:46 PM EDT] <Shiral> See ? Did I know what I was doing, or what? =o)
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:26:52 PM EDT] <DesertRose> Right, Shiral!
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:26:57 PM EDT] <Jerusha> Yep
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:27:04 PM EDT] * Shiral leaves some Spearmint candies in the West for St. Gabriel
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:27:24 PM EDT] <Bee> Did you and LBM have a pleasant Mother's Day, KK?
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:27:35 PM EDT] <DesertRose> So what for St. Uriel and for St. Raphael? :D
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:27:41 PM EDT] * Jerusha leaves chocolate moose droppings for St Uriel
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:27:42 PM EDT] <DesertRose> Yes, how has your Mother's Day been, KK?
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:27:59 PM EDT] * Shiral follows this up with dark chocolate Truffles for St. Uriel in the North, and with Caramels for St. Raphael.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:28:07 PM EDT] <DesertRose> Butterscotch candies for St. Raphael, since gold is the color for East/Air?
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:28:17 PM EDT] <DesertRose> Caramel works too.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:28:17 PM EDT] <Bee> Noney for Raphael, maple syrup for St. Uriel.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:28:26 PM EDT] <DesertRose> Sorry, I was typing around Carys butt.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:28:33 PM EDT] <Shiral> Add Butterscotch--never hurts =o)
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:28:33 PM EDT] <Bee> honey, I meant
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:28:46 PM EDT] <Jerusha> And cat hair
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:28:52 PM EDT] <KK> Nice Mother's Day. We took LBM to lunch at the Stonewall Jackson Hotel, our regular special occasion site. Very good; better than Eastr.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:29:02 PM EDT] <Jerusha> Nice
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:29:07 PM EDT] <Shiral> Good
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:29:32 PM EDT] <KK> Then we all came home and vegged out for an hour or so.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:29:37 PM EDT] <Jerusha> Buffet, or order from menu?
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:29:37 PM EDT] <DesertRose> Carys is purring like a motorboat and demanding that I pet her.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:29:41 PM EDT] <Bee> Did you also hear from Cameron, KK?
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:29:46 PM EDT] <KK> Elegant buffet.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:29:54 PM EDT] <Jerusha> Sounds delicious
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:30:09 PM EDT] <Shiral> Sometimes, just Vegging at home can be very nice
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:30:13 PM EDT] <KK> Not yet, but I haven't had a chance to check my e-mail yet.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:31:27 PM EDT] <Shiral> Dmitri has arrived to say hello, KK
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:32:59 PM EDT] <KK> Hello, Dmitri.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:33:21 PM EDT] <Bee> Where's Gus?
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:33:27 PM EDT] <Shiral> He just rubbed his cheeks and whiskers all over the top corner of the laptop. =o)
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:33:43 PM EDT] <Bee> marking his territory
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:33:46 PM EDT] <KK> When Scott and I were vegging, I had Sasha on my lap for about 10 min. THen it go too hot for him and he moved.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:34:34 PM EDT] <KK> Gus is probably down at the cottage. This is excellent outside cat weather, though I must zap him with flea drops. I pulled several tiny ticks off of him yeterday.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:34:50 PM EDT] <Jerusha> Oh, I hate ticks
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:34:54 PM EDT] <Shiral> Or saying hello and urging KK to add more cats to future books
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:35:27 PM EDT] <Jerusha> Lets keep cats safely away from Killingford
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:35:47 PM EDT] <Shiral> Any self respecting cat would NOT hang around a battlefield
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:36:14 PM EDT] <KK> I call thse things tiny ticks, because they attach, but they're more like fleas that attach. Whatever they are, I don't like 'em, and they're going to be dead, either from flea drops of from me pulling them off and squishing them between myfingernails.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:36:29 PM EDT] <Jerusha> Eew
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:37:00 PM EDT] <KK> That's what I said, when I pulled the first one off yesterday morning.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:37:12 PM EDT] <Jerusha> Though I have sent several spiders off to the "flat spide" society this week
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:38:53 PM EDT] <DesertRose> Carys is doing her Very Loud Purr. I'm not sure why, unless it's that I was away overnight last night and she missed me. :)
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:39:40 PM EDT] <Bee> That must be it.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:39:45 PM EDT] <DesertRose> Must be.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:40:06 PM EDT] <KK> It's the welcome home purr, or where the hell have you been?
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:40:10 PM EDT] <DesertRose> When I came home around noon, she walked up (I think she had been in my room), meowed at me, and then flopped on the floor and showed me her tummy.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:40:17 PM EDT] <DesertRose> Possibly both, LOL, KK!
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:40:39 PM EDT] <Shiral> I'm Shiva the Destroyer to an ant colony that tried to inhabit my downstairs half-bath last weekend. Insects outside=fine. Insects and Spiders INSIDE= YOu have crossed battle lines, prepare to die!
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:40:57 PM EDT] <Jerusha> Yepper
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:41:08 PM EDT] <DesertRose> My name is Inigo Montoya, you brought your exoskeleton in my home, prepare to die!
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:41:17 PM EDT] <bynw> lol
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:41:24 PM EDT] <Bee> When I came home from surgery and rehab, Melantha hid under my neighbor's bed.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:41:43 PM EDT] <Shiral> My cats are spending a LOT of time under the bed lately
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:42:32 PM EDT] <Bee> too many workmen
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:42:43 PM EDT] <DesertRose> Too much noise, probably as well!
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:42:54 PM EDT] <Shiral> And too much noise and they don't realize all the furniture is coming BACK
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:43:16 PM EDT] Join Laurna (Mibbit@OWIRCN-55282c39.res.rr.com) has joined this channel.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:43:19 PM EDT] <DesertRose> Hi Laurna
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:43:21 PM EDT] <bynw> hi Laurna
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:43:24 PM EDT] <Jerusha> Hi Laurna
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:43:25 PM EDT] <Bee> hi Laurna
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:43:25 PM EDT] <Shiral> Hello Laurna
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:43:27 PM EDT] <Laurna> Happy Mother's Day!
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:43:27 PM EDT] <Eyikl> hi Laurna
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:43:29 PM EDT] <Jemler> hi laurna
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:43:37 PM EDT] <DesertRose> I think the Very Loud Purr might have been, "Hey, my food bowl is empty!"
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:43:56 PM EDT] <DesertRose> But that is not mutually exclusive with "welcome home" and/or "where the hell were you?!"
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:44:06 PM EDT] <KK> It's got to be traumatic for them, when all their familiar furniture disappears. They probaby think you're moving again, and praying that you'll take them along.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:44:22 PM EDT] <Laurna> Mom just went home. We had a nice lunch and I got some flowers planted next to my fish pond.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:44:26 PM EDT] <DesertRose> :)
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:44:32 PM EDT] <Jerusha> Nice
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:44:59 PM EDT] <Laurna> Shiral, Is your home getting back together?
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:45:48 PM EDT] <Shiral> True, KK. Although if you want to amuse Tatiana, just hang a lot of plastic sheeting around the house. She and Dmitri were having fantastic games when the kitchen was curtained in plastic and they'd chase each other around with a cat on either side of the sheeting.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:46:20 PM EDT] <Laurna> Kitty play ground!
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:46:34 PM EDT] <Shiral> Not yet, Laurna. Although I did reserve the moving van for the 25th. Next week, everything gets PAINTED. The following week the new lights get installed at last.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:46:36 PM EDT] <DesertRose> Carys does that with the shower curtain in my bathroom.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:46:43 PM EDT] <bynw> my moronic cats would sit and lick the plastic sheet all day
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:47:02 PM EDT] <Shiral> Entire kitty amusement park, really.=o)
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:47:11 PM EDT] <Laurna> Good to hear new paint is always nice
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:47:16 PM EDT] <DesertRose> The actual curtain is sheer white with green embroidered flowers/leaves, and she thinks she's hiding, except that fat tan tabby cat is pretty easy to see through sheer white shower curtain.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:47:43 PM EDT] <Shiral> Since my furniture had to be stored ANYWAY, I thought it was the perfect opportunity to paint downstairs.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:48:08 PM EDT] <KK> Of course, if she can't see you, then you can't see her. Cat logic.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:48:14 PM EDT] <DesertRose> Yup.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:48:43 PM EDT] <Shiral> The cats don't know it, but I would definitely NEVER move away without them
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:48:44 PM EDT] <Jerusha> Whippet logic would be "pull down the curtain"
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:48:50 PM EDT] <DesertRose> Also, the shower curtain I used to use is heavier, opaque white cotton/canvas, so she actually COULD hide behind it.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:48:54 PM EDT] <Laurna> LOL Jerusha
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:49:18 PM EDT] <Jerusha> And then look very innocent
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:49:45 PM EDT] <DesertRose> LOL, there's a photo set of a little gray kitten having shredded a plastic shower curtain liner, and she gets busted, and she looks guilty for about two seconds, then apparently decides, "In for a penny, in for a pound" and goes back to destruction!
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:49:47 PM EDT] <Shiral> They tore the sheeting in a few places, but the workers didn't seem to mind
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:49:48 PM EDT] <Laurna> While making a nice pellow out of pulled down curtain
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:50:05 PM EDT] <Jerusha> Yep
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:50:51 PM EDT] <KK> I just can't understand how some people <can> just move away and leave their critters behind, to starve or to go to a shelter. The bassets that I transport that have been owner surrendered are so scared and confused. Much worse than strays.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:51:06 PM EDT] <DesertRose> Yeah, me neither.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:51:31 PM EDT] <Shiral> I know, KK. That breaks my heart for the poor animal, who must be so frightened, but at the same time, believe that their human will return for them.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:51:37 PM EDT] <DesertRose> I can understand that sometimes circumstances dictate that people can't take their critters when they move, but come on, find them a new home! Don't just leave them to fend for themselves.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:51:41 PM EDT] <Laurna> I keep a protective old sheet on my bed cover and every morning I have to un-wad it until the next night.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:51:49 PM EDT] <DesertRose> I suspect that was what happened to Carys before the people from whom I adopted her rescued her.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:51:59 PM EDT] <Shiral> The dog has no choice but to completely commit to their human.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:52:41 PM EDT] <Jerusha> I will pause for a moment of "pet the grandpuppies" therapy....
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:53:02 PM EDT] <Laurna> Perfect Therapy
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:53:25 PM EDT] <KK> And don't abandon them to a kill shelter. That's a job I could never, ever do: euthanasia technician. I tear up just thinking about it. It's got to be a soul-killing job..
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:53:33 PM EDT] <Jerusha> We have them for two weeks while DS3 and Bride are on honeymoon
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:53:33 PM EDT] <Jemler> what was the story about pets who crossed mountains to be with their family? fantastic journey?
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:53:36 PM EDT] <DesertRose> The family from whom I adopted Carys had found her wandering their neighborhood, but when I brought her home from the vet (for spay/inoculations/general checkup), she knew what the litter box was for and she also more or less immediately used the scratching toy, so I'm fairly sure she'd been a pet at some point.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:53:50 PM EDT] <DesertRose> Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey, Jemler.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:53:56 PM EDT] <Shiral> Indulged in a bit of stroke the cat therapy just then. Tati gave me this look of complete annoyance. =o)
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:54:14 PM EDT] <Jemler> tyhat's the one with sallt fields, right?
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:54:23 PM EDT] <Jerusha> Yep
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:54:26 PM EDT] <DesertRose> I'm not sure. I haven't seen it in a while.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:54:28 PM EDT] <Jerusha> And Don Amiche
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:54:34 PM EDT] <Bee> When you adopt an animal, you adopt responsibility for that animal's welfare, even when it's no longer convenient.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:54:41 PM EDT] <Laurna> My female dog Sugar was so scared of people when she got out that no one could catch her for 30 days. When we did finally find her It took her like 2 minutes to switch gears and go Oh, you are my people.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:55:02 PM EDT] <DesertRose> Yes. And if your life changes such that you can't keep the dog/cat/whatever critter, you have a responsibility to find your pet a new, safe home.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:55:04 PM EDT] <Jemler> hume crinin as te older dog. saying how dogs decided to takw care of humans.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:55:50 PM EDT] <Shiral> I found Francesca in the animal shelter. She had to have been a pet because she was in good condition, and was definitely well-socialized. I feel sorry for her former owners, although perhaps they should have put more effort into either keeping her in, or into finding her when she went missing.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:57:43 PM EDT] <DesertRose> A friend of mine recently adopted a shelter kitty who had probably been a pet at some point before because she's very sociable, but my friend thinks Princess Buttercup must have had to fend for herself near a Taco Bell, because she'll fight you for a burrito. :D
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:58:23 PM EDT] <Jerusha> "I am kitty Zoro!"
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:58:28 PM EDT] <DesertRose> I guess. :D
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:58:29 PM EDT] <Laurna> lol
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:58:42 PM EDT] <Shiral> "More hot sauce, please!"
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:58:44 PM EDT] <KK> They definitely know when they'v been rescued, too, and are eternally grateful. Our Warner was picked up as a stray in WV, and BROOD rescued him. I transported him, and in about 30 miles, he had velcroed himself to me. Still wants to be in the same room as me, though not as needy as he once was.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:58:44 PM EDT] <DesertRose> LOL
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:58:53 PM EDT] <DesertRose> Aw, sweet pupper.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:59:12 PM EDT] <Laurna> All my critters are my family. Their food bill is twice the human food bill.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:59:30 PM EDT] <Shiral> Warner's no fool, KK. =o)
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [7:59:39 PM EDT] <DesertRose> Some friends of mine adopted an eight-year-old beagle from a rescue near them, and he is just SO devoted to them both. Neither he nor she can go anywhere or do anything without a canine companion any more. :D
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:00:14 PM EDT] <DesertRose> He's also freaking adorable. It shouldn't be legal for a dog to be THAT cute.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:00:38 PM EDT] <Jerusha> It's required. :D
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:00:40 PM EDT] <Shiral> When I open my bathroom door after taking a shower in the morning, there will very soon be a cat in there with me. Dmitri likes to sit on the toilet and have a little conversation
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:00:42 PM EDT] <Laurna> That is a dog's job
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:00:51 PM EDT] <KK> He was a rack of bones when we got him: classic Biafran dog. He was also much younger than we'd first reckoned: less than a year old. But not a mean bone in his body. Dogs are so forgiving.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:01:12 PM EDT] <Shiral> Poor guy must have seen some hard times
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:01:13 PM EDT] <DesertRose> I usually leave the bathroom door open when I shower or bathe, and I very often have to step carefully onto the bathmat because there is a cat on the mat.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:01:22 PM EDT] <Jemler> you never saw 'White dog'.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:01:33 PM EDT] <Laurna> OHHH I am so glad you took him home.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:01:41 PM EDT] <Shiral> Both my cats find the bathroom shower stall absolutely enthralling
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:01:56 PM EDT] <DesertRose> Carys thinks I can't dry my own toes.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:01:58 PM EDT] <Shiral> But NOT when I turn on the water
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:02:04 PM EDT] <Jemler> turn the water on them!
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:02:18 PM EDT] <KK> brb
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:02:19 PM EDT] <Shiral> Yeah, that's the fastest way to get them out.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:03:05 PM EDT] <DesertRose> Yeah, Carys learned that lesson too. She was goofing off in the tub as I was getting ready to shower, and I told her to move her furry butt, and she didn't, so I flipped the water to the shower setting, and THEN she moved her furry butt with the quickness!
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:03:34 PM EDT] <Jerusha> And they call her the streak
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:03:39 PM EDT] <DesertRose> LOL, yeah!
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:05:23 PM EDT] <DesertRose> Here is Carys and her new scratching toy: https://www.instagram.com/p/BihoW72Apvw/
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:05:53 PM EDT] <Bee> Melantha has been known to hide when my sister ccomes. She associates Sue with being stuffed into her carrier and taken away.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:06:54 PM EDT] <Laurna> CuteDR. She wants to lick it.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:06:57 PM EDT] <DesertRose> Yup
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:07:01 PM EDT] <DesertRose> It had catnip on it.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:07:10 PM EDT] <DesertRose> Note my use of the past tense. She nommed up all the catnip.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:07:16 PM EDT] <Laurna> No wonder
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:07:49 PM EDT] <Bee> Mickey adores catnip, Melantha ignores it.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:07:56 PM EDT] <DesertRose> Some cats don't react to catnip.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:08:05 PM EDT] <DesertRose> Kittens generally don't before a certain age, and some cats never do.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:08:28 PM EDT] <KK> She's adorable, DR.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:08:35 PM EDT] <Bee> genetic, I'm told

[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:09:12 PM EDT] <Laurna> Hello Judyward
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:09:13 PM EDT] <JudyWard> Hi, y'all. Totally forgot about chat tonight.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:09:21 PM EDT] <Jerusha> Hi JudyWard
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:09:32 PM EDT] <Bee> hi JudyWard
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:09:33 PM EDT] <KK> LOL, DR.

[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:10:02 PM EDT] <Shiral> Hi Judy Ward
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:10:02 PM EDT] <JudyWard> I'm good, thanks.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:10:15 PM EDT] <JudyWard> Hi, Shiral.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:10:16 PM EDT] <KK> Hi, JudyWard.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:10:20 PM EDT] <Bee> okay here
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:10:25 PM EDT] <JudyWard> Hi, KK
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:10:35 PM EDT] <JudyWard> That's good.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:10:40 PM EDT] <Shiral> Hey, we run on the same fuel, DR
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:10:57 PM EDT] <DesertRose> The cup can also be ordered with "caffeine" rather than "coffee," for those who prefer their caffeine via tea or cocoa or whatever. :D
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:11:07 PM EDT] <JudyWard> Love that cup!
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:11:14 PM EDT] <DesertRose> I thought it was hilarious, and it REALLY fits my stepdad.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:11:30 PM EDT] <DesertRose> The "d@mn shoes" story from when the Kiddo was about four is all his fault. :D
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:11:58 PM EDT] <JudyWard> Thanks for reposting DR
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:12:48 PM EDT] <DesertRose> You can also get it on a mug, but my stepdad uses travel-style coffee cups even at home, so that's why I went with the travel cup.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:12:48 PM EDT] <Bee> My computer has narcolepsy. I don't know which app to run to speed it up.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:13:26 PM EDT] <Shiral> I remember taking a bubble bath when I had my first pair of cats. Isadora the kitten I had then, was sniffing around then, tried to WALK on the bubbles. The next thing I knew, I saw the very wet rear end of Isadora scrambling back to safety
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:13:29 PM EDT] <DesertRose> Bee, when was it last defragmented?
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:13:35 PM EDT] <DesertRose> LOL, poor Isadora!
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:14:05 PM EDT] <Shiral> That cured her interest in water. Although in hot weather, she though the bathroom sink was the perfect spot for naps.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:14:12 PM EDT] <DesertRose> "This looks interesting. Let me try to wa---Nope nope nope nope! Abort mission!"
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:14:21 PM EDT] <Bee> I think defrag is scheduled weekly, but maybe it hasn't been turned on at he right time.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:14:35 PM EDT] <Shiral> Her dignity was definitely bruised by that one
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:14:36 PM EDT] <JudyWard> The sink is so cool, I've had several cats that liked to curl up in a sink.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:14:51 PM EDT] <DesertRose> There's a picture of KK's Nicholas-kitteh in a sink on the forum.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:15:13 PM EDT] <JudyWard> I haven't figured out how to see that or post pix there.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:15:16 PM EDT] <DesertRose> The word order is wrong. "There's a picture on the forum of KK's Nicholas-kitteh in a sink," was what I meant.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:15:23 PM EDT] <Bee> I have too many programs I don't dare uninstall b/c I don't what they're for.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:15:35 PM EDT] <DesertRose> Click on Gallery, in the list of links above the Shoutbox.

[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:15:43 PM EDT] <JudyWard> LOL! That's OK DR.

[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:16:38 PM EDT] <DesertRose> If you want to upload, there should be an Upload link somewhere, but it's been a minute since I uploaded a photo and I don't remember off the top of my head where the upload link is.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:17:34 PM EDT] <DesertRose> The upload link is labeled "Add Picture," and it's above the photos.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:17:42 PM EDT] <JudyWard> OK
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:18:10 PM EDT] <Bee> brb thirsty
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:19:03 PM EDT] <JudyWard> All with kids had a happy Mother's Day, I hope.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:19:16 PM EDT] <DesertRose> So far so good.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:19:17 PM EDT] <Laurna> I am enjoying a slice of lemon cake and a hot,hot cup of tea.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:19:27 PM EDT] <JudyWard> Sounds good!
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:19:37 PM EDT] <Jerusha> Fried shrimp was good
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:19:39 PM EDT] <DesertRose> The Kiddo sent me a gif of a mama cat carrying a kitten by the scruff, and the caption was, "Have a purrfect Mother's Day."
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:19:52 PM EDT] <Jerusha> Cute!
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:20:07 PM EDT] <JudyWard> Yep!
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:20:18 PM EDT] <DesertRose> We won't do the official Mother's Day thing until my parents come back from Edisto Island, which will be Thursday, so probably Friday or Saturday we'll do Mother's Day/stepdad's birthday (which is officially Tuesday).
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:20:19 PM EDT] <Bee> awww!
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:21:55 PM EDT] <DesertRose> Apt, because bringing her up was like herding cats, even with a massive amount of help from my parents. :D
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:22:01 PM EDT] <DesertRose> But also because she's a cat whisperer. :D
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:22:23 PM EDT] <Laurna> sweet
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:23:05 PM EDT] <DesertRose> And apparently also a decent horsewoman. When she went to Colorado with her best friend to spend a month with the best friend's grandparents, they went trail riding, and the horse the Kiddo got thought he was going to be fractious.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:23:36 PM EDT] <JudyWard> Did she convince him otherwise?
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:23:39 PM EDT] <DesertRose> She told him in no uncertain terms (she later said, "in the same tone of voice she tells the cats to behave") that he was NOT going to give her an attitude, and lo and behold the attitude ended.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:23:53 PM EDT] <DesertRose> She wasn't mean, just firm.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:24:46 PM EDT] <DesertRose> And the horse behaved quite well for the ride.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:24:59 PM EDT] <JudyWard> Good for her!
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:25:04 PM EDT] <Bee> I gather she's ridden before.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:25:06 PM EDT] <DesertRose> Nope.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:25:15 PM EDT] <DesertRose> She never had so much as been on a horse's back before then.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:25:19 PM EDT] <Laurna> A firm hand is what most horses need. Unfortunintly I don't have one and they walk all over me, especially at feeding time.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:25:27 PM EDT] <Bee> I'm impressed!
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:25:45 PM EDT] <DesertRose> She'd petted a few, because the mother of an ex-boyfriend of mine kept horses, and she charmed my ex's mom's horses when she was about six.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:26:14 PM EDT] <DesertRose> Yeah, it seems to be the case that horses just need to know that you're not going to be mean, but you're also not here for the nonsense.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:26:52 PM EDT] <DesertRose> BRB, my tea glass has gone empty. :)
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:27:09 PM EDT] <Jerusha> That must be fixed!
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:27:11 PM EDT] <JudyWard> Can't have an empty tea glass!
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:27:37 PM EDT] <Jemler> maybe it'll come back full. :)
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:28:13 PM EDT] <Laurna> Is it a tea-glass or a tea cup? I don't have any hot tea glasses.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:28:31 PM EDT] <DesertRose> Iced tea
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:29:47 PM EDT] <Jerusha> alas I must go. Hope everyone has an excellent week!
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:30:00 PM EDT] <Jemler> nite jerusha
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:30:01 PM EDT] <JudyWard> Have a great week, Jerusha!
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:30:04 PM EDT] <Bee> same to you, Jerusha
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:30:09 PM EDT] <Jerusha> Nighters!
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:30:13 PM EDT] <Shiral> Bye, Jerusha

[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:30:56 PM EDT] <Laurna> Hello DFK
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:30:59 PM EDT] <Shiral> I wish my glass of iced tea would go down to the kitchen and refill itself.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:31:00 PM EDT] <Eyikl> Hi DerynifanK
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:31:05 PM EDT] <Shiral> Alas, it never budgess

[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:31:38 PM EDT] <Laurna> Small portals needed for beverage refills
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:31:39 PM EDT] <DesertRose> Rehi Derynifank
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:31:42 PM EDT] <Derynifank> Hi. Back from coffee. Got a Winnie the Pooh cup for mother's day
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:31:49 PM EDT] <DesertRose> I bet that's cute!
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:32:08 PM EDT] <Derynifank> It is
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:32:10 PM EDT] <Bee> Has anyone ever made sun tea?
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:32:17 PM EDT] <JudyWard> We used to.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:32:20 PM EDT] <DesertRose> I used to make it all the time in Arizona
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:32:39 PM EDT] <Derynifank> Love the idea of small portals for drink refills
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:32:40 PM EDT] <Laurna> Often Bee, most summers
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:32:40 PM EDT] <DesertRose> I'd throw some fresh mint in with the tea bags and water, since we had it growing absolutely everywhere the way mint will do.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:32:44 PM EDT] <Bee> Do you use teabags or loose tea leaves?
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:32:49 PM EDT] <KK> Sun tea is great. Never bitter. Doesn't even need sugar.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:32:52 PM EDT] <Shiral> I remember the first time I ever rode a horse on a trail. I was about 5 and was at the end of the line. Suddenly my horse decides no, trailrides today, and headed back to the barn at a trot. the leader of the group came back and lead my horse on a leading rein for the rest of the ride.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:33:03 PM EDT] <DesertRose> I always used tea bags; if you used loose tea, I'd think you'd need a tea strainer of some sort.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:33:11 PM EDT] <Shiral> I love sun tea. Always have a bottle in the fridge in summer
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:33:20 PM EDT] <Derynifank> I used to make sun tea all the time in the summer
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:33:29 PM EDT] <Shiral> I like to experiment with different combinations of tea bags
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:33:46 PM EDT] <Bee> what proprtions? I like strong tea.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:33:51 PM EDT] <JudyWard> I broke our last sun tea jar last year when the jar fell out of the top as I was carrying it out.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:33:52 PM EDT] <KK> That's about the only thing that the big Lipton tea bags are good for. Using them for sun tea actually makes the tea drinkable.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:34:23 PM EDT] <Shiral> One of my faves is two bags of Twinings Lady Gray, 1 bag of jasmine tea and one bag of mint tea. I leave it out for several hours to get it to the strength I like
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:34:25 PM EDT] <Jemler> earl grey sun tea? anyone ever try it?
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:34:25 PM EDT] <DesertRose> Depends on the size of the tea bags, Bee. If you're using the little tea bags that make a single cup of hot tea, I'd say a minimum of 10-12 to a gallon of water, maybe more.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:34:30 PM EDT] <JudyWard> We make a pitcher of regular tea every couple of days out of 3 Family Size bags.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:34:43 PM EDT] <DesertRose> I use four family-size for my three-quart tea pitcher.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:34:50 PM EDT] <KK> A couple or three of the big bags in a gallon jug. But you can also make it in a clear pitcher.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:34:56 PM EDT] <Laurna> I drink mostly Earl grey
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:34:57 PM EDT] Quit bynw (~fenix@SuperAdmin.otherworlders.org) has left this server (Client closed the connection).
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:34:57 PM EDT] <DesertRose> So for a gallon, I'd probably use six family-size bags.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:35:06 PM EDT] <Shiral> I bought a quart-size bottle with a screw top cap
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:35:12 PM EDT] <Bee> I've read about starting with a pitcher full of ice cubes.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:35:32 PM EDT] <Derynifank> I like Prince of Wales but it's hard to find here
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:35:33 PM EDT] <Shiral> Oh dear Bynw disappeared
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:35:34 PM EDT] <JudyWard> We like our tea strong.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:35:37 PM EDT] <DesertRose> If it's hot enough outside, that should work well. Or if you use the cold-brew iced-tea bags Lipton and I think Luzianne make.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:35:45 PM EDT] <Shiral> I do. I want to be able to taste tea

[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:36:00 PM EDT] <Derynifank> Do you suppose Loris got him
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:36:05 PM EDT] <Jemler> if you put loose leaf in a cheesecloth pouch, would that work?

[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:36:12 PM EDT] <DesertRose> As my mom says, make it strong because it's going to get sweetened and poured over ice.

[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:36:51 PM EDT] <DesertRose> If the weave is tight enough to keep the tea leaves together, it should work. Otherwise, you're going to have gritty tea.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:36:57 PM EDT] <DesertRose> Not my idea of a good beverage.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:36:57 PM EDT] <Shiral> It probably would. Or you could rig something up with a coffee filter
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:37:37 PM EDT] <JudyWard> Years ago we used to make it with 3 bags in the coffee maker filter.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:37:41 PM EDT] <DesertRose> Yeah, you could probably field-engineer a tea strainer out of a coffee filter.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:38:01 PM EDT] <Jemler> i have a tea ball, but that's not big enought for a quaety.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:38:03 PM EDT] <KK> I'd thnk that would work.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:38:06 PM EDT] <DesertRose> I never liked making tea in the coffee machine, because I could always taste the coffee faintly.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:38:13 PM EDT] <JudyWard> When I'm pouring up, I strain through a paper towel.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:38:17 PM EDT] <DesertRose> I want tea to taste like tea. If I want coffee, I'll drink coffee, thanks. :D
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:38:23 PM EDT] <Bee> Aren't coffee filters hard to seal?
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:38:23 PM EDT] <Shiral> YOu end up with Toffee, that way =o)
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:38:28 PM EDT] <JudyWard> Yes, that's why we quit making it that way.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:38:32 PM EDT] <Derynifank> How do you pour up?
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:38:54 PM EDT] <Eyikl> reverse the gravity
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:39:05 PM EDT] <DesertRose> Bee, it would probably depend on the shape and size of the container in which Jemler is trying to make sun tea.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:39:08 PM EDT] <JudyWard> I put the strainer with a paper towel folded in it and run the tea out of the hot pot into there after it's cooled a bit.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:39:10 PM EDT] <DesertRose> There might be a way to make it work.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:39:15 PM EDT] <Shiral> I did see some Tea sachets at the store, once. Found them in the coffee filter area. You put in your choice of loose tea, and you're in business
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:39:23 PM EDT] <Jemler> alter the gravitational constant of the universe.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:39:26 PM EDT] <DesertRose> LOL
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:39:36 PM EDT] <Shiral> All in a day's work if you know how. =o)
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:39:38 PM EDT] <Derynifank> Isn't gravity a problem
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:39:48 PM EDT] <Jemler> i'll check at walmart.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:40:07 PM EDT] <Shiral> It's not difficult if you have Q at your side
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:40:17 PM EDT] <JudyWard> Tea gets lots of sediment even with the tea bags. That's why I re-strain through a paper towel into the pitcher.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:40:17 PM EDT] <DesertRose> LOL, yeah.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:40:47 PM EDT] <Shiral> But he's so unpredictable, that now I just say forget it
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:40:51 PM EDT] <DesertRose> Because my car was briefly the Kiddo's, it has two window decals she put on it; one reads, "Jedi Academy Alumni," and the other reads, "Starfleet Academy Alumni."
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:40:58 PM EDT] <JudyWard> Caesar insists he needs to go out. BRB
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:41:34 PM EDT] <Derynifank> Take the tea bsgs, put them in the coffee filter and run a quick stitch around the top to pull it closed
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:41:44 PM EDT] <DesertRose> Someone honked at me in traffic a few weeks ago, and I couldn't figure out what they wanted until they pulled a little ahead of me, and the person in the front-passenger seat leaned out the window and did the "Live long and prosper" hand signal, and even so it took me a minute to remember that the Starfleet decal is in the rear windshield. :D
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:42:19 PM EDT] <Derynifank> I think that might work
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:42:41 PM EDT] <DesertRose> Or tie it shut with twine.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:42:47 PM EDT] <DesertRose> If you have kitchen twine. :)
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:42:55 PM EDT] <Derynifank> Yup
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:44:00 PM EDT] <DesertRose> Heck, dental floss would probably work too.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:44:03 PM EDT] <JudyWard> Back
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:44:12 PM EDT] <DesertRose> And it'd be clean, so.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:44:39 PM EDT] <Jemler> walmart 100 empty tea bags 6x8cm, 8x12cm, 9x10cm, for $7.48
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:44:59 PM EDT] <JudyWard> Amazing how many people still love all things Star Trek.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:45:01 PM EDT] <DesertRose> BTW, the reason Evie isn't here tonight is that her daughter got sprung a little early from work, so they're having some Mom/Daughter Mother's Day time.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:45:22 PM EDT] <JudyWard> That's nice!
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:45:26 PM EDT] <Bee> oh, good!
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:45:40 PM EDT] <DesertRose> I just realized I hadn't mentioned that since before KK showed up, and folks would probably be wondering. :D
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:46:08 PM EDT] Quit Shiral (~495d99a4@OWIRCN-1bdd9d77.org) has left this server (Quit: CGI:IRC (Ping timeout)).
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:46:30 PM EDT] <KK> I <was> wondering, but figureed something family had cropped up.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:47:30 PM EDT] <DesertRose> Yeah, she said something to me around 6 pm Eastern, and I said something at the time, and then forgot to mention it after you got here. Oops. Better late than never, I suppose. :D
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:47:41 PM EDT] <Laurna> It is a family weekend. I did an amazing amount of house keeping before mom came over this morning.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:47:54 PM EDT] <DesertRose> I think DH is at work, and possibly also DS.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:48:02 PM EDT] <DesertRose> Or DS is studying for the NCLEX. :)
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:48:08 PM EDT] <DesertRose> It's a bear of a test, so I hear.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:48:42 PM EDT] <DesertRose> Since I got into the new place, I'm trying to make myself do housework on a semi-regular basis so that it doesn't get to the point of being a colossal job.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:48:59 PM EDT] <Laurna> he has done well so far, so I hope he continues to do well.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:49:00 PM EDT] <DesertRose> And now that the right shoulder is mostly rehabbed, I can sweep and mop for myself again.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:49:21 PM EDT] <DesertRose> I don't see any reason why he wouldn't do well on the NCLEX, but I'm sure he's studying his head off anyway.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:49:32 PM EDT] <JudyWard> I wish I could muster up enough energy to do all the cleaning I need to do around here.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:49:34 PM EDT] <KK> Probably a wise plan. Unfortunately, for folks like us, there are always more intriguing things to do than clean. Like new books to read, and such.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:49:46 PM EDT] <DesertRose> Yes. I'd far rather read or watch a movie or chat than clean house.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:49:52 PM EDT] <Laurna> HEHE yes KK
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:50:06 PM EDT] <JudyWard> Me, too!
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:50:37 PM EDT] <DesertRose> But I also have periodic housekeeping inspections, so that's a motivator, and also, I really prefer my home to be reasonably clean and tidy. I don't LIKE cleaning house, but I do like having a clean house, so I keep telling myself it's worth the inconvenience and bother. :D
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:50:41 PM EDT] <Bee> speaking of books, have you started thinking about Road to Killingford?
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:50:50 PM EDT] <Laurna> I was kind of glad the story/game was quiet this week so I could do some house cleaning.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:50:56 PM EDT] Join Shiral (~495d9948@OWIRCN-1bdd9d77.org) has joined this channel.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:51:00 PM EDT] <DesertRose> Rehi Shiral
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:51:05 PM EDT] <Bee> rehi shiral
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:51:07 PM EDT] <Laurna> Oh Did some one mention Road to Killing ford?
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:51:12 PM EDT] <JudyWard> Hi again Shiral
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:51:19 PM EDT] * Laurna listens intently
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:51:23 PM EDT] <Shiral> My computer just plain stopped working on me
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:51:30 PM EDT] <DesertRose> Bad computer! No cookie!
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:51:35 PM EDT] <Laurna> ooch
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:51:36 PM EDT] <Shiral> So.... DID anyone mention Killilngford? =o)
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:51:41 PM EDT] <DesertRose> Bee asked, yes. :D
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:51:46 PM EDT] <Bee> yes. me
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:52:20 PM EDT] <JudyWard> When does it take place?
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:52:25 PM EDT] <DesertRose> 1098?
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:52:27 PM EDT] <DesertRose> I think?
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:52:36 PM EDT] <Jemler> 1025.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:52:41 PM EDT] <JudyWard> So just before our heroes time?
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:52:46 PM EDT] <Laurna> 1025 or with earlier set up. Lots of set up I will bet
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:52:53 PM EDT] <DesertRose> Oops. Okay. Good thing I didn't proclaim that confidently!
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:53:02 PM EDT] <Derynifank> I'M sure DR will do fine on NCLEX but speaking a one who took it, we all tend to be paranoid about it
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:53:05 PM EDT] <JudyWard> Oh, way before our guys.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:53:07 PM EDT] <DesertRose> Someone must have been born in 1098 or something.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:53:34 PM EDT] <DesertRose> Yeah, Evie's DS probably will do just fine, but it's just kind of a nerve-wracking thing to take a massive examination like that.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:53:38 PM EDT] <Jemler> kelon became king 20 years later.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:53:44 PM EDT] <JudyWard> Alaric was born in 109-something.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:53:47 PM EDT] <Shiral> Lots of people probably were born in 1098. =o)
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:53:54 PM EDT] <DesertRose> I know I was nervous as a long-tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs when I took the SAT.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:53:57 PM EDT] <Shiral> But they don't all appear in the sotry
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:54:15 PM EDT] <DesertRose> LOL, Shiral. Fine. Some significant canon character must have been born in 1098. Happy now? :P
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:54:32 PM EDT] <Shiral> September 29, 1091 for Alaric, February 2, 1092 for Duncan
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:54:33 PM EDT] <Laurna> I am certain that we all must have some ancistor or another born on or near 1098,
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:54:42 PM EDT] <DesertRose> And I probably would be equally nervous if I ever take the GRE.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:54:47 PM EDT] <Shiral> Tee hee hee!
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:54:56 PM EDT] <DesertRose> I think it was Richenda who was born in 1098.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:55:07 PM EDT] <Shiral> Very likely
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:55:40 PM EDT] <JudyWard> Was Alaric that much older than Richenda?
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:55:47 PM EDT] <DesertRose> Seven years isn't THAT much.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:56:02 PM EDT] <DesertRose> Especially in medieval almost-Europe, and he married fairly late.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:56:27 PM EDT] <Laurna> Richenda April 7 1099
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:56:44 PM EDT] <DesertRose> Well, heck.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:56:48 PM EDT] <Shiral> Which must have caused his court some consternation, considering that in his youth, Alaric quite enjoyed having a dangerous life
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:56:53 PM EDT] <JudyWard> I just always thought they were closer in age.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:56:56 PM EDT] <DesertRose> Why is 1098 sticking in my head?!
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:57:07 PM EDT] <Shiral> If he'd lived in the 20th century, he'd have probably wanted a motorcycle
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:57:12 PM EDT] <DesertRose> LOL, I know, right?!
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:57:21 PM EDT] <JudyWard> He was born into danger.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:57:21 PM EDT] <DesertRose> And his castellan probably despaired of him.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:57:26 PM EDT] <Shiral> But he's producing little heirs, now
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:57:38 PM EDT] <DesertRose> Right left and centre, if Codex is to be believed. ;)
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:57:50 PM EDT] <JudyWard> Good think Richenda is healthy!
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:57:59 PM EDT] <DesertRose> Why I spelled "centre" as in non-US English is beyond me.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:58:05 PM EDT] <Shiral> For many reasons, yes it's good
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:58:18 PM EDT] <JudyWard> She had 1 kid with Bran & then 4 with Alaric?
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:58:30 PM EDT] <DesertRose> Oh good grief. That's a horrible thought. Alaric's reaction if he were to outlive Richenda?!
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:58:40 PM EDT] <DesertRose> Four and counting, I think, JudyWard.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:58:41 PM EDT] <KK> brb; drer needs tending. (I'm doing laundry in the background.)
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:58:57 PM EDT] <JudyWard> I need to be doing laundry.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:59:27 PM EDT] <Laurna> Actually Richenda had two children with Bran, the little girl died of the fever
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:59:35 PM EDT] <DesertRose> Briony, Kelric, and Grania are all in Codex, and then Ghosts of the Past posits Kenric and Washburn.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:59:46 PM EDT] <DesertRose> Oh, that's right. She did have a little girl who didn't survive.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [8:59:48 PM EDT] <JudyWard> Alaric would not have done well outliving Richenda, although a lot of men did outlive their wives in those days.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [9:00:00 PM EDT] <DesertRose> Yes. Childbearing was pretty hazardous work.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [9:00:03 PM EDT] <Laurna> Kenric is Kelric's son and heir
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [9:00:07 PM EDT] <Shiral> Alaric would be horribly bereaved I think, if Richenda were to die before him.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [9:00:27 PM EDT] <JudyWard> Yes, he would.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [9:00:31 PM EDT] <DesertRose> It pulled me up right short to find out that the way one can know a noblewoman was pregnant at any given point in time even if no baby is recorded is that she wrote her will.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [9:00:46 PM EDT] <DesertRose> Oh, oops. Grandson, then. Sorry, Laurna.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [9:00:58 PM EDT] <Laurna> No proplem

[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [9:01:46 PM EDT] <JudyWard> Oops! My first time to get booted out!
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [9:01:46 PM EDT] <Shiral> WB
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [9:01:50 PM EDT] <Bee> wb judy
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [9:02:00 PM EDT] <Laurna> Alaric broke his arm in 1100. I was wondering if that was your 1098 but no. Kenneth died the night he read the letter about his son breaking his arm. That broke my heart.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [9:02:15 PM EDT] <DesertRose> I almost threw the book when Kenneth died too.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [9:02:25 PM EDT] <JudyWard> I cried like a baby.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [9:02:35 PM EDT] <DesertRose> I did throw CtH when Rhys died. I <3 Healers and him in particular.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [9:02:39 PM EDT] <Laurna> The end of an era
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [9:02:42 PM EDT] <JudyWard> Also when Bronwyn died.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [9:02:44 PM EDT] <DesertRose> Yes.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [9:02:47 PM EDT] <Laurna> loved Kenneth
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [9:02:52 PM EDT] <DesertRose> That was so awful, the way Bronwyn and Kevin died.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [9:03:09 PM EDT] <JudyWard> Every time I read it I cried.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [9:03:17 PM EDT] <DesertRose> Actually, what got me about Bronwyn and Kevin was Alaric reciting the heraldry as draped over the respective coffins. Not sure why that bit hit me so hard.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [9:03:21 PM EDT] <Bee> I hope we'll eventually see more of Bronwyn.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [9:03:25 PM EDT] <DesertRose> (in his head, he didn't say it out loud)
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [9:03:28 PM EDT] <Shiral> Yes, the McLains were severely reduced in 1121. Kevin, then Jared within a few months of each other
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [9:03:31 PM EDT] <JudyWard> Kenneth was great! Such a good man & good father.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [9:04:04 PM EDT] <DesertRose> I think I have delayed reactions even when reading or watching movies.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [9:04:06 PM EDT] <Shiral> It hit Alaric hard, too. Probably why
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [9:04:08 PM EDT] <Laurna> Exactly
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [9:04:26 PM EDT] <JudyWard> Did Dhugal pop up because of those turns of fate? (Yes, I know, he would already have been born then.)
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [9:04:45 PM EDT] <DesertRose> In one of my favorite movies, a major character dies, but her death scene isn't what breaks me. It's the scene with her husband and her son (from a previous marriage, not that man's son) are trying to come to terms with their grief that just shatters me.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [9:04:54 PM EDT] <Shiral> Well.....he was quite a rabbit to pull out of a McLain border bonnet...
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [9:04:56 PM EDT] <JudyWard> Talking about when B & K died & then the Duke.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [9:05:01 PM EDT] <DesertRose> You'd have to ask KK about that, JudyWard.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [9:05:29 PM EDT] <Bee> DR, what's the movie?
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [9:05:33 PM EDT] <DesertRose> Shadowlands.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [9:05:34 PM EDT] <JudyWard> Maybe she'll see it when she comes back.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [9:05:41 PM EDT] <DesertRose> Sir Anthony Hopkins and Debra Winger.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [9:05:46 PM EDT] <DesertRose> Made around 1993.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [9:05:54 PM EDT] <Bee> thanks
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [9:05:54 PM EDT] <JudyWard> Didn't see that one.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [9:06:06 PM EDT] <DesertRose> Directed by Richard Attenborough, score by George Fenton (and holy cow is that an AMAZING score!).
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [9:06:08 PM EDT] <Derynifank> I have read that several times and I cry every time, when Kenneth dies and when then for Kevin and Brown
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [9:06:09 PM EDT] <Shiral> I would have liked to see the relationship with Duncan and Maryse explored more.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [9:06:10 PM EDT] <Laurna> HEhe. I will have to tell Revanne about your comment about Dhugal being pulled out of a McLain border bonnet. She will think the same of Columcil
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [9:06:14 PM EDT] <DesertRose> Sir Richard Attenborough.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [9:06:23 PM EDT] <Laurna> May be that is way Columcil likes Rabbits
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [9:06:23 PM EDT] <DesertRose> I forgot his title.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [9:06:27 PM EDT] <DesertRose> ROFL!
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [9:06:46 PM EDT] <JudyWard> That's probably it!
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [9:06:47 PM EDT] <Laurna> SNickering
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [9:06:47 PM EDT] <DesertRose> Shadowlands is about C. S. Lewis' marriage. It is VERY much worth watching.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [9:06:58 PM EDT] <Shiral> But with Dhugal being Duncan's son, the McLains will go on
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [9:07:17 PM EDT] <KK> Back, and caught up. At least Kenneth got to die peacefully.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [9:07:18 PM EDT] <DesertRose> Of course, I would watch Sir Anthony Hopkins read the London metro phone book.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [9:07:22 PM EDT] <Eyikl> I'm off to eat dinner. Goodnight everybody.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [9:07:22 PM EDT] <Laurna> So true in many a good way
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [9:07:23 PM EDT] <JudyWard> Yes, a fortunate turn of events.
[Sunday, May 13, 2018] [9:07:28 PM EDT] <Shiral> Hope he finds himself a spunky Deryni lass to help with that
