Jul 30 19:09:50 <DesertRose>   Hi KK
Jul 30 19:09:55 <Jemler>   hi kk
Jul 30 19:09:55 <Laurna>   Hello KK
Jul 30 19:09:59 <KK>   Hello, gang.
Jul 30 19:10:04 <Derynifank>   Hi KK
Jul 30 19:10:10 *   The_Bee (~49daea90@OWIRCN-1bdd9d77.org) has joined
Jul 30 19:10:17 <KK>   How's everyone tonight?  DR?
Jul 30 19:10:19 <Jemler>   hi bee
Jul 30 19:10:21 <DesertRose>   Janis Joplin was a topic of conversation because I was talking about my high school Latin teacher dressing up as her for a costume party and serenading my class with "Mercedes Benz."
Jul 30 19:10:22 <Laurna>   Good timing B ee
Jul 30 19:10:25 <DesertRose>   Hi Bee.
Jul 30 19:10:31 <The_Bee>   hi everyone
Jul 30 19:10:47 <Derynifank>   Hi Bee
Jul 30 19:10:53 <DesertRose>   Same Latin teacher also had a massive crush on Sir Patrick Stewart and had a photo of him in his Capt. Picard costume above the chalkboard in her classroom.
Jul 30 19:10:58 <DesertRose>   I'm eh.
Jul 30 19:11:21 <DesertRose>   I had a bad reaction to a medication earlier this week that's just in the last day or so started to stop, so that was kind of meh.
Jul 30 19:11:25 <KK>   He was definitely my kind of captain.
Jul 30 19:11:30 <Laurna>   Costume College this weekend was themed the 1960's  and there was a lot of laughin and janis joplin and elvis
Jul 30 19:11:48 <KK>   Bummer, DR.  But I'm glad you're feeling better now.
Jul 30 19:11:51 <DesertRose>   She was happily married (the Latin teacher); she just had a celebrity crush on Sir Patrick.
Jul 30 19:12:14 <DesertRose>   And this would have been in the early 1990's when she was my teacher, so TNG was airing at the time.
Jul 30 19:12:24 <The_Bee>   I think of Kirk as Crazy Horse and Picard as Sitting Bull.
Jul 30 19:12:33 <Laurna>   lol
Jul 30 19:12:41 <DesertRose>   That's actually not a bad comparison.
Jul 30 19:12:59 <DesertRose>   Kirk flew by the seat of his pants WAY more than Picard did; Picard was much more measured in his decision-making.
Jul 30 19:13:15 <Derynifank>   Who gets to be Custer
Jul 30 19:13:18 <Jemler>   there is a youtube video of picards speeches.
Jul 30 19:13:19 <DesertRose>   Q
Jul 30 19:13:48 <Jemler>   John de Lancie.
Jul 30 19:13:55 <KK>   Yes, the thinking person's captain.  Kirk was governed an awful lot by his hormones.
Jul 30 19:13:56 <DesertRose>   One of my favorite Picard quotes goes something like, "It is possible to make no mistakes and still lose; that is life."
Jul 30 19:14:01 *   JudyWard (~181b3bb6@OWIRCN-1bdd9d77.org) has joined
Jul 30 19:14:04 <DesertRose>   Hi JudyWard
Jul 30 19:14:13 <The_Bee>   Hi Judy
Jul 30 19:14:13 <Jemler>   hi judy
Jul 30 19:14:18 <Laurna>   Hello Judy
Jul 30 19:14:18 <JudyWard>   Hi! How are you?
Jul 30 19:14:22 <Evie>   hi
Jul 30 19:14:26 <KK>   I like that one, DR.  All too true.  And the Universe doesn't care.
Jul 30 19:14:27 <Derynifank>   Hi Judy
Jul 30 19:14:34 <JudyWard>   Hi, everybody!
Jul 30 19:14:42 <DesertRose>   Yes, She Who Killed Off Rhys Thuryn With A Fall!!!!!
Jul 30 19:14:43 <DesertRose>   :D
Jul 30 19:14:51 <Evie>   LOL!
Jul 30 19:15:03 <Laurna>   Tears
Jul 30 19:15:03 <Derynifank>   Really hated that
Jul 30 19:15:14 <DesertRose>   (Meant more or less affectionately, although I DID throw CtH across the room when that happened.)
Jul 30 19:15:28 <Jemler>   "The universe is already mad. Anything else would be redundant." Londo Mollari, Babylon 5
Jul 30 19:15:30 <KK>   Unfortunately, people die from falls all too often.  be careful out there!
Jul 30 19:15:33 <DesertRose>   True.
Jul 30 19:15:44 <DesertRose>   I didn't say it was unrealistic.  :)
Jul 30 19:15:53 <Evie>   Oh, I'm sure KK cared, but she did it anyway. :-D  I cry whenever I kill a character I like, but the story sometimes demands it.
Jul 30 19:15:59 <DesertRose>   Yup, me too.
Jul 30 19:16:03 <The_Bee>   Was Picard supposed to be older than \\kirk?  I got the impression he was meant to be more mature.
Jul 30 19:16:40 <DesertRose>   It kicked my butt to kill off the mother of the main character of the fantasy story I've been working on intermittently since I was about fifteen, but she was complicating my plot way too much if I left her alive.
Jul 30 19:16:40 <Derynifank>   So true. We had a friend who was bringing something  down from his attic, fell down the stairs and broke his neck
Jul 30 19:16:43 <JudyWard>   I think he was older by the time we met him. Kirk we met as a young hothead.
Jul 30 19:17:02 <Evie>   Older also.  I used to have the TV series 'bible' (script writer's guide), and IIRC Picard was meant to be in his 50s.
Jul 30 19:17:09 <DesertRose>   Kirk was younger when he was captain of the Enterprise than Picard, but I believe Kirk was older than Picard, in terms of who was born earlier.
Jul 30 19:17:27 <JudyWard>   We had a friend who slipped in a store & died a few days later.
Jul 30 19:17:41 <JudyWard>   DR  agree
Jul 30 19:17:50 <Jemler>   Kirk was 37.
Jul 30 19:17:57 <DesertRose>   Yeah, head injuries are NO freaking joke, and sometimes the worst complications come later, not immediately after the injury occurs.
Jul 30 19:18:17 <JudyWard>   Yes, that's true.
Jul 30 19:18:27 <DesertRose>   Neurological injuries in general.
Jul 30 19:18:40 <JudyWard>   We have dog tripping hazards here; Rhodesian Roadblocks.
Jul 30 19:18:50 <DesertRose>   Spinal injuries can show their worst a few days after the actual occurrence.
Jul 30 19:19:02 <DesertRose>   Rhodesian Roadblocks.  I like that.
Jul 30 19:19:08 <Evie>   :-D
Jul 30 19:19:09 <JudyWard>   Thanks
Jul 30 19:19:31 <Laurna>   I thought it was a typo unitil I read it again.
Jul 30 19:19:37 <Laurna>   lol
Jul 30 19:19:51 <JudyWard>   Have to go put the cold stuff in the frig. Just got back from grocery store
Jul 30 19:19:54 <DesertRose>   There is a cartoon floating around the internet somewhere of footprints, and one set of footprints is a person with no pets walking to the kitchen and the other set is a person with a cat walking to the kitchen, punctuated with "CAT!" and I think a few mild swears.
Jul 30 19:20:12 <DesertRose>   "Damn it, cat, are you TRYING to make me fall?!"
Jul 30 19:20:24 <Derynifank>   Lol
Jul 30 19:20:27 <DesertRose>   Okay, go deal with perishable foods.
Jul 30 19:21:19 <Laurna>   Because of the dogs, my cat is always on a high surface where she can also get a  back rub as you walk by.
Jul 30 19:21:44 <Derynifank>   Smart cat
Jul 30 19:22:35 <Laurna>   She makes stealth runs to go from surface to surface or to go outside
Jul 30 19:22:43 <DesertRose>   Cats like being up high in general.  Good prey spotting, plus safety from any trouble, usually.
Jul 30 19:22:51 <JudyWard>   Got em in the frig.
Jul 30 19:23:27 <Evie>   I read that as "Got [cats] in the frig" at first, which was worrying.  :-D
Jul 30 19:23:33 <JudyWard>   If you beat RRs on their butt with your hand, they love it. Can't beat their butts to punish them.
Jul 30 19:23:35 <KK>   The cats?  The Roadblocks?
Jul 30 19:23:42 <Jemler>   sorry. got distracted.
Jul 30 19:23:50 <Laurna>   LOL  I was thinking the same thing Evie
Jul 30 19:24:09 <Derynifank>   Why are cats convinced that their paws should not tough the ground?
Jul 30 19:24:16 <JudyWard>   The cat would be in trouble in the frig...after he ate everything that was open
Jul 30 19:24:21 <Evie>   There are times I might be temped to put Luke in there
Jul 30 19:24:22 <Derynifank>   Touch
Jul 30 19:25:24 <Evie>   Mine are happy to walk on the ground (since I have no dogs to pester them), but they LOVE to get up on high places or else hide in tiny spaces or under the couch.
Jul 30 19:25:30 <JudyWard>   The Roadblocks like their butts beat wth your hand.I think it's like scratching to them
Jul 30 19:25:35 <Derynifank>   Kittycicle. Haha
Jul 30 19:25:50 <JudyWard>   DR LOL
Jul 30 19:26:04 <Evie>   The first is a way of asserting dominance (when it's not simply staying out of harm's reach).  My cats will jockey to get the higher position relative to each other.
Jul 30 19:26:10 <DesertRose>   I have three six-foot-tall bookcases, and one lonely little shelf is not completely full of books.  Carys likes to get on that shelf and hide.
Jul 30 19:26:36 <DesertRose>   I flipped the entire hell out one time when I couldn't find her for anything, and the silly fuzz-butt was on the shelf the whole time, looking at me like, "What's the matter with you?!"
Jul 30 19:26:55 <Laurna>   lol
Jul 30 19:26:59 <Evie>   And the love of cats for small spaces is due to such cozy corners also being easily defensible
Jul 30 19:27:21 <JudyWard>   I had to wait 5 hrs to go to our new home once bcz I couldn't find Angel
Jul 30 19:27:22 <DesertRose>   It's the top shelf, unless you count the top of the bookcase entirely, so it's high and sheltered, things kitties like when they're surveying their domain.  :)
Jul 30 19:27:27 <Laurna>   I can imagine a foot reaching out to swat at your hair as you walk by.
Jul 30 19:27:28 <Derynifank>   Toby is all black so you can look right at him and not see him
Jul 30 19:27:39 <DesertRose>   I'm too tall.  It would catch my shoulder, Laurna!
Jul 30 19:28:02 <Laurna>   Ghost paws
Jul 30 19:28:11 <DesertRose>   She might catch my hair if it were loose, but I very seldom wear it entirely loose.
Jul 30 19:28:17 <DesertRose>   Too darn much of it!
Jul 30 19:28:28 <JudyWard>   Dog Caesar likes to go out just at bedtime to stand on the porch and surveille his domain.
Jul 30 19:28:55 <DesertRose>   Derynifank, my parents have a cat named PJ, and she is pewter gray, the exact color of shadows.  She can hide like no cat I've ever know.
Jul 30 19:28:58 <DesertRose>   *known
Jul 30 19:29:15 <Laurna>   Oh yes my dogs do that as well, Judy
Jul 30 19:29:40 <JudyWard>   Yep, doesn't want to pee or anything, just look over the yard
Jul 30 19:29:46 <DesertRose>   And she also is super quiet.
Jul 30 19:30:00 <Derynifank>   As long as he keeps his eyes shut you can'take see him
Jul 30 19:30:11 <DesertRose>   She doesn't meow when she wants food.  She just sits by her food dish and looks at you piteously, waiting for some human to do the right thing and feed her.
Jul 30 19:30:45 <DesertRose>   If she'd meow, someone might notice sooner, but no!  She has to be Stealth Kitteh.
Jul 30 19:31:19 <JudyWard>   It's your job to know when she is hungry
Jul 30 19:31:33 <Derynifank>   Toby has no problem with loudly demanding his dinner
Jul 30 19:31:33 <DesertRose>   They can't leave food in her bowl, because Merlin (the younger cat) is a jealous little s&&t and will eat her food even if he's not actually hungry, just to keep her from having it.
Jul 30 19:32:12 <JudyWard>   He IS a little s**t!
Jul 30 19:32:19 <DesertRose>   But karma is a bear.  The hamster, Guinevere, has now taken to figuring out how to get out of her plastic exercise ball and going to Merlin's food bowl and filling her cheeks with HIS kibble.
Jul 30 19:32:44 <Derynifank>   I had a Merlin cat once, Merlin the magic cat named for a certain famous wizard
Jul 30 19:32:46 <DesertRose>   Oh, he is.
Jul 30 19:32:46 <JudyWard>   LOL! Serves him right!
Jul 30 19:33:09 <DesertRose>   My parents' Merlin was named for the TV show character (played by Colin Morgan).
Jul 30 19:33:27 <DesertRose>   And then the hamster got named Guinevere because I suggested it to keep with the Arthurian theme.
Jul 30 19:33:32 <The_Bee>   Guinevere could become Merlin's meal if she;s not careful.
Jul 30 19:33:39 <DesertRose>   (Kiddo named the cat, not my parents.)
Jul 30 19:33:43 <DesertRose>   Merlin's all talk, no action.
Jul 30 19:33:55 <KK>   We resolve that issue by having dry crunchies out at all times, free-feed.  And then we feed wet food in the cat pantry whenever we're in the vicinity when someone demands.  Of course, this means that we end up doing first breakfast, second breakfast, elevenses, lunch, tiffin, mid-afternoon snack, supper, bedtime snack--and sometimes other extras.  But they seem to do well on that regimen.
Jul 30 19:34:07 <Derynifank>   They can fool you sometimes
Jul 30 19:34:11 <DesertRose>   That was why I was worried when I had to evacuate from Hurricane Matthew last fall, and of course I brought Carys with me to my parents' house.
Jul 30 19:34:26 <Jemler>   ever read the Darksword trilogy?
Jul 30 19:34:43 <Derynifank>   Sounds like meals on a cruise ship
Jul 30 19:34:54 <JudyWard>   BRB, got to wash potatoes for baking
Jul 30 19:35:06 <DesertRose>   But Merlin has been a pampered house cat his entire life, and Carys lived some unknown length of time on the streets, roughing it, so I was afraid Merlin's mouth would write a check with Carys that his butt couldn't cash, and then my folks would be mad at me because my cat beat up their cat!
Jul 30 19:35:15 <The_Bee>   Darksword?
Jul 30 19:35:46 <Jemler>   a sword the nullifies magic.
Jul 30 19:36:00 <The_Bee>   who wrote it?
Jul 30 19:36:14 <Jemler>   brb
Jul 30 19:36:48 <DesertRose>   I was less worried about Carys and PJ, because they might hiss at each other but probably not seriously fight because neither of them are particularly aggressive, but Merlin acts like Billy Bad-Ass up until there's a chance he might get a tail-cutting.
Jul 30 19:37:14 <Jemler>   The Darksword series of books, written by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman (cover art by Larry Elmore), which tells the story of a young man, born without magic in a world where everyone is born with it, who has been prophesied to destroy the world in which he lives. The series consists of the initial three books (The Darksword Trilogy), a supplemental role-playing volume, and a
Jul 30 19:37:14 <Jemler>   single-volume sequel. The books are published by Bantam Spectra (The Science-Fiction division of Random House)
Jul 30 19:37:55 <DesertRose>   So Carys spent the entire hurricane-evacuation time cooped up in the front bedroom of my parents' house, poor baby.
Jul 30 19:38:11 <The_Bee>   I've read some Margaret Weis books.  Don't know Hickman
Jul 30 19:39:00 <Derynifank>   Have you read any of Katherine Kerr ? Just bought one to try
Jul 30 19:39:12 <The_Bee>   thanks for the info, Jemler
Jul 30 19:39:32 <Jemler>   the main character was born Dead. that means there was no Life in him. Live was Magic. Magic was Life.
Jul 30 19:39:56 <The_Bee>   I read Katherine kerr years ago.  can't remember much
Jul 30 19:40:17 <DesertRose>   KK, this was what got us on the Sir Patrick Stewart tangent before you got here:  http://quentquire.tumblr.com/post/163117356623
Jul 30 19:40:25 <DesertRose>   Short video of Sir Patrick and his adopted dog, Ginger.
Jul 30 19:40:37 <DesertRose>   Silly cute dog is silly and cute, basically.
Jul 30 19:40:47 <Jemler>   there was another one: Kathrine Kurtz. Ever hear of her? :)
Jul 30 19:41:02 *   DesertRose slaps Jemler lightly with a minnow.
Jul 30 19:41:12 <Jemler>   lol
Jul 30 19:41:20 <DesertRose>   Also, spell her name right!  KathErine.
Jul 30 19:41:22 <Derynifank>   Let him have it Evie
Jul 30 19:41:34 <DesertRose>   Although that could have been a typo, to be fair.
Jul 30 19:41:47 <Jemler>   tip0.
Jul 30 19:41:58 <Evie>   I read that as "DesertRose slaps Jemler lightly with a meadow," and wondered how one slaps a person lightly with a meadow. Or at all.
Jul 30 19:42:20 <DesertRose>   Uh, no.
Jul 30 19:42:26 <Laurna>   Everyone have a good week. I am off to a GOT veiwing at my sister's house.
Jul 30 19:42:32 <DesertRose>   I'm nowhere near strong enough to lift geographic features.  :P
Jul 30 19:42:35 <DesertRose>   Okay, see you, Laurna
Jul 30 19:42:37 <Evie>   But I'll look for a meadow launcher
Jul 30 19:42:45 <Evie>   Goodnight,Laurna
Jul 30 19:42:45 <Jemler>   at least it was a slice of lemon wrapped around a large gold brick!
Jul 30 19:42:51 <Laurna>   Good Night all
Jul 30 19:42:54 <Derynifank>   Night Laurna
Jul 30 19:43:00 <Jemler>   nite laurna
Jul 30 19:43:02 *   Laurna (Mibbit@OWIRCN-55282c39.res.rr.com) has left
Jul 30 19:43:07 <The_Bee>   enjoy the film
Jul 30 19:43:07 <JudyWard>   Good night, Lauren
Jul 30 19:43:21 <DesertRose>   BRB, tea gone empty on me
Jul 30 19:45:50 <JudyWard>   Is there a mouse in here? Where did everybody go?
Jul 30 19:46:35 <The_Bee>   still here.  trying to think of something clever to say
Jul 30 19:47:00 <Derynifank>   I was about to ask the same question
Jul 30 19:47:09 <JudyWard>   I was eating my cottage cheese & pineapple salad
Jul 30 19:47:16 <DesertRose>   Sorry, I was just thirsty and had to get up and refill my tea!
Jul 30 19:47:36 <JudyWard>   No prob. I"m about to need more tea, too.
Jul 30 19:48:16 <DesertRose>   House wine of the South.  :)
Jul 30 19:48:39 <DesertRose>   Which, Texas being part of the South is debatable, but climate-wise, it counts.  :)
Jul 30 19:49:11 <Evie>   Was distracted for a short bit, but back now
Jul 30 19:49:32 <DesertRose>   It kind of depends on whom you ask whether Texas is part of the South, part of the Southwest, or its own entity entirely.
Jul 30 19:49:36 <The_Bee>   back to Star Trek, doesn't anyone else think it's weird that every episode says they're explorers, going "where no man has gone before"; but humans are running the Federation?
Jul 30 19:49:38 <DesertRose>   All of the above are true in a way.  :)
Jul 30 19:50:37 <DesertRose>   I haven't watched any Star Trek in years, so I don't feel qualified to answer that, but it seems like from TNG forward, at least, that the Federation isn't exclusively human- or Earth-born-human-run.
Jul 30 19:50:38 <KK>   Well, <sometimes> they're going where no one has gone before--at least those in the Federation.
Jul 30 19:51:20 <The_Bee>   Then how come they meet humans living on other planets?
Jul 30 19:51:29 <DesertRose>   There seem to be a fair few members of non-Earth-native races in fairly high places in the Federation, is what I'm saying.
Jul 30 19:51:34 <KK>   And if they encounter sentient life, then <someone> has gone there before.
Jul 30 19:52:00 <KK>   Lost colonies or shipwrecks, Bee.  ;-)
Jul 30 19:52:09 <The_Bee>   Kirk had a brother who lived anddied on another planet
Jul 30 19:52:12 <DesertRose>   That reminds me of my friend's novella.
Jul 30 19:52:54 <DesertRose>   "Luminous" is the name of it, and the name on the authorial page is A.E. Ash (which is her maiden name; her married surname is much more distinctive and she chooses not to use it in writing credits).
Jul 30 19:53:08 <Evie>   Just because the Enterprise (and other ships) often explored uncharted territories didn't mean they never returned to known Federation space between missions
Jul 30 19:53:16 <Jemler>   I saw a picture that said "I will never force my child into religion. When the right time comes, I'll explain to him/her the differences, and then s/he can choose between Star Trek and Star Wars."
Jul 30 19:53:25 <Derynifank>   After all the English lost a colony here and we are still looking for it
Jul 30 19:53:27 <DesertRose>   And it's a wonderful story; she actually sent me the Kindle edition free of charge when it was released.
Jul 30 19:53:33 <DesertRose>   There is that, Derynifank.
Jul 30 19:53:40 <DesertRose>   The lost Roanoke colony.
Jul 30 19:54:18 <DesertRose>   And she's about to release another story (might be a full-length novel this time) called "Temporary Duty Assignment," and it's getting advertised in USA Today, so I'm all excited for her.
Jul 30 19:54:30 <JudyWard>   Texas is Texas. We are proud of it, too!
Jul 30 19:54:35 <DesertRose>   Yup.
Jul 30 19:54:49 *   Jerusha (Jerusha@4CA975.E72DF0.7A9F2D.DD0C53) has joined
Jul 30 19:54:56 <Evie>   hi Jerusha
Jul 30 19:54:58 <The_Bee>   hi jerusha
Jul 30 19:54:59 <DesertRose>   Sometimes to the point of ignoring the fact that when Texas was an independent country, it was financially and in other ways an utter disaster!
Jul 30 19:55:00 <Derynifank>   So it's not surprising  that some were lost in early  space exploration and  forgotten
Jul 30 19:55:01 <DesertRose>   Hi Jerusha
Jul 30 19:55:21 <Jerusha>   Hi everyone
Jul 30 19:55:43 <Derynifank>   Hi Jerusha
Jul 30 19:55:59 <JudyWard>   Speaking of writing, I added a cat story to my HubPages, dogmama58
Jul 30 19:56:29 <Derynifank>   A cat story from dognama?
Jul 30 19:56:41 <JudyWard>   We could go it much better this time if the rest of the country goes bottoms up.
Jul 30 19:57:03 <DesertRose>   I'm wondering if we're not living in the backstory from Shadowrun right about now.
Jul 30 19:57:04 <JudyWard>   DF yes, my cat loving friend insisted on it.
Jul 30 19:57:20 <JudyWard>   DR it is scary now.
Jul 30 19:57:30 <DesertRose>   No lie!
Jul 30 19:58:03 <DesertRose>   Shadowrun being a tabletop RPG set in the near future, cyberpunk genre.
Jul 30 19:59:45 <DesertRose>   Did I kill chat?
Jul 30 19:59:45 <Evie>   BRB, checking on tiny shirt to see if image transfer is dry yet
Jul 30 19:59:49 <DesertRose>   Ah, okay.
Jul 30 20:00:07 <JudyWard>   Checking baked potatoes
Jul 30 20:00:11 *   DesertRose imagines everyone going off to google WTH Shadowrun is and just what in the world DR is on about this time.  :P
Jul 30 20:00:13 <KK>   We're still here.
Jul 30 20:00:20 <Jerusha>   I'm still here DR
Jul 30 20:00:27 <DesertRose>   Yay!
Jul 30 20:00:51 <Derynifank>   We'received still here just very quiet
Jul 30 20:00:55 <Jerusha>   Any writing KK?
Jul 30 20:01:14 <Evie>   Yay, it's almost ready. I'll check a corner after chat is done.
Jul 30 20:01:31 <Jemler>   KK, are you ever going to bring back Warin de Gray?
Jul 30 20:01:37 <JudyWard>   No pressure, of course 8-)
Jul 30 20:01:39 <DesertRose>   Oh, yes, someone who comes to the forums but hasn't made it to chat much if ever, uses the name Lochiel on the forum, was asking about The Road to Killingford on the forums this week.
Jul 30 20:02:12 <Derynifank>   Really hate auto correct😠
Jul 30 20:02:13 <JudyWard>   I wouldn't miss ol' Warren
Jul 30 20:02:24 <Jemler>   don't everybody type at once!
Jul 30 20:02:39 <JudyWard>   Unless he is going to attone for his sins by dying to save a Deryni, of course.
Jul 30 20:02:51 <Jerusha>   At once
Jul 30 20:03:01 <Evie>   at once
Jul 30 20:03:07 <JudyWard>   at once
Jul 30 20:03:16 <DesertRose>   Or even Healing a Deryni and maybe coming off his high horse and backtracking just a wee bit on the Deryni hating.
Jul 30 20:03:17 <KK>   No plans for Warin.  Been thinking about Killingford more.
Jul 30 20:03:40 <JudyWard>   Oh, I spell him wrong!
Jul 30 20:03:42 <DesertRose>   There are a lot of wiseacres in this chat room.  Just sayin'.
Jul 30 20:03:50 <Jemler>   l   o   l\
Jul 30 20:03:53 <JudyWard>   Who? Us?
Jul 30 20:03:56 <DesertRose>   Yup
Jul 30 20:04:02 *   Evie smiles innocently
Jul 30 20:04:19 <Jerusha>   Millingford is good.  Well , sort of.
Jul 30 20:04:25 <Jemler>   well at least everydody DIDN'T do it. :)
Jul 30 20:04:43 <DesertRose>   Of course, when I used to call down Kiddo for such behavior, her response varied between "Better a smart one than a dumb one," and "Got it from you," to neither of which I had any decent retort.
Jul 30 20:04:45 <The_Bee>   I've sometimes wish Jehana had met Warin.  He of all people would have understood her struggles to reconcile what she'd been taught about Deryni with the knowledgethat she was one.
Jul 30 20:04:45 <JudyWard>   We could fix that...
Jul 30 20:04:57 <Evie>   It wasn't for lack of trying to instigate, Jemler, for which I give Jerusha full props. ;-)
Jul 30 20:05:01 <Jerusha>   killingford, I meant
Jul 30 20:05:26 <DesertRose>   Jerusha, you instigator, you!  :D
Jul 30 20:05:40 <Jemler>   i just said that because there were suddenly all these questions for KK. let the woman breathe!
Jul 30 20:06:07 <KK>   Soon, guys.  Hopefully, real soon.
Jul 30 20:06:10 <DesertRose>   Yay!
Jul 30 20:06:18 <JudyWard>   That'll be great!
Jul 30 20:06:21 <Evie>   Yes, do breathe soon, or you'll turn blue!  :-D
Jul 30 20:06:23 <DesertRose>   Life, chill the [bleep] out and let KK write!
Jul 30 20:06:28 <Jemler>   the breathing or the writing?
Jul 30 20:06:43 <DesertRose>   Both, hopefully, because the writing doesn't happen without the breathing!
Jul 30 20:06:45 <KK>   And on that note, I need to boogie for tonight.  Next week is First Sunday, and 5 PM chat.  Hopefully, I'll still remember by then.  ;-)
Jul 30 20:06:50 <JudyWard>   I've gotten to the point I only want to read the 3 or 4 writers I follow now. Used to read everything.

"If having a soul means being able to feel love, loyalty, and gratitude, then animals are better off than a lot of humans."

James Herriot (James Alfred "Alfie" Wight), when a human client asked him if animals have souls.  (I don't remember in which book the story originally appeared.)
