I think I've finally weeded through and captioned my trip albums as much as I'm ever going to, so here are the direct links for them.  It's easiest to skim through them all in album view rather than as individual photos, since I have a few thousand, but if you hover over the photos with your mouse cursor, a few of them have captions instead of just photo numbers.  You can click on those photos to see if I've included additional information about it or not.  To return to album view, just look at the top left of the individual photo page, and there should be a link that returns you to the album.

Here are the albums arranged in date order:

May 25-28—Travel to Europe, Amsterdam, The Hague (Netherlands).     https://flic.kr/s/aHskXdqqhH
May 29—Kinderdijk (Netherlands), Entering Germany     https://flic.kr/s/aHskXGFBeU
May 30—A Day in Koln/Cologne (Germany)         https://www.flickr.com/gp/9573389@N08/k1Z3J8
May 31—Marksburg, the Middle-Rhine, and Rudesheim (Germany)          https://flic.kr/s/aHskXwFVRV
June 1—Heidelberg (Germany)                  https://flic.kr/s/aHskWpk14M
June 2—Strasbourg (France), and Going through a river lock         https://flic.kr/s/aHskWv1emj
June 3—Colmar (France) and the Black Forest (Germany)              https://flic.kr/s/aHskWBExDF
June 4—A brief glimpse of Basel (Switzerland) and the trip home               https://flic.kr/s/aHskWBF4Hi

Most of the albums are fairly photo-heavy and have multiple pages, so they might take a minute to load.  And I might have gone a bit photo-crazy, especially in the more medieval areas of certain towns or historical museums, but I'm sure this crowd here will understand.  ;D

EEK! Love it!  You are going to give me the travel bug!  Wonderful, Evie. Off to do some photo scrying.

I am enjoying the first two albums. Looks like wonderful weather. Glad DD could be along, if only in "Little's Spirit". When I came to the image of the Yellow light tower at night seen from the river, I thought of Kelson  and Morgan on their river trip going passed  the Deryni Temple.

Oh, you mean the lit up tower thing with the mountain mural painted on it?  We puzzled over that structure for quite a long time.  At a distance, it looked like a nuclear power plant (nuclear energy is more popular over there than here), but then we noticed the paintings on it when we got closer, and were like "What the heck?" Then we got close enough to see the Ferris wheel and other items that looked like amusement park equipment.  Mystery solved...sort of, since we still never figured out for sure what the tower itself was.

Our weather was sunny and unseasonably warm for the entire trip.  The only rain we saw was on the morning we visited Colmar, on the next to last day, and even that was just a brief shower. I brought an umbrella with me, but I don't think I ever actually used it, even during the shower, since we were making a mad dash for the tour bus at that point anyway.  If anything, my only complaint about the weather was that it was just a smidge too hot towards the end of the week, even for an Alabaman, so we didn't spend as much time sitting on the sun deck as we originally thought we would, although at night it was pleasant up there, and the river breezes helped a little bit during the heat of the day.

Oh my, thank you so much for sharing all of this! I have only just begun to enjoy the adventure!

I am assuming DD is the "little"; is DS the "flat" young man? Who is the other young woman studying (and standing on) the menu at the restaurant in Amsterdam?

Both guesses are correct.  The young lady standing on the menu is my front desk colleague at work, who kept threatening to stow away in my luggage so I wouldn't leave her, until I finally told her I could make that happen!  ;D

Wonderful images Evie.  I especially love the locals of Marksburg and Heidelburg. Marvelous architecture. So I have to ask, do you have an image of your cabin. I would love to know how big, (uhumm, tiny it was.) My sister and I spent a week on the Delta Queen on the Ohio River in a cabin that was six feet wide by 8 feet long with bunk beds. So I know about cramped spaces. But I can tell you that was the best trip ever.  Also, what was your favorite meal? Something exceptionally good?

Love the photos!
